Genuine faith produces gratitude for God's mercy in Christ.

The Leper's Approach: Driven by desperation and faith, the leper breaks social protocol to kneel before Jesus, acknowledging His power by stating, "If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean". The Lord's Compassion: Jesus responds with deep emotion and a physical touch—an act that was legally forbidden but demonstrated His willingness to enter into the man's suffering. The Instant Healing: With a simple command, Jesus restores the man immediately, illustrating His authority over disease and the "defilement" of sin. The Command of Silence: Jesus instructs the man to show himself to the priest (as per Mosaic Law) but to remain silent about the miracle to avoid hindering His ministry. The Man's Disobedience: Despite the warning, the man publishes the news abroad, which ultimately forces Jesus to move His ministry to "desert places" to manage the overwhelming crowds.

In verse 35 of Mark 1, Mark shows us the Savior rising very early in the morning. He went to a desolate place and there He prayed. The Lord spent time with God His Father before the busy day began.Do you know that Jesus is even now praying for each and every believer. He prays for those who draw near to God through Him in order to keep each believer saved forever. Read Hebrews 7:25.Mark next presents Christ having authority over leprosy. Dr. Mitchell observes that Jesus didn't heal lepers, He cleansed them. Here our Lord reached out and touched the leper. Jesus can cleanse you, my friend. This Christmas season, Ps Dan encourages us with the story of a Leper's encounter with Jesus. Where everyone else moved away from the leper, Jesus stepped forward. In the same way Jesus steps into our mess, not around it, and gives us healing and wholeness.

Leprosy was considered to be a disease that only God can cure. To touch a leper was to defile oneself. But Jesus compassion went out to a leper, and His touch made him whole. The man had trusted that Jesus was equal with God. He not only found healing in Jesus, but acceptance as well. Sin like leprosy eats away our soul. Come to Jesus and let Him heal your sin sick soul.
