Join us this week for the first message in our new series, "Hello Jesus," with Pastor Nathan Johnson.
Brother Colbert Martin drew our attention to the title “the Lord of Glory,” which was mentioned in several of our hymns. How amazing to think that the Lord of Glory would stoop down to our low place to lift us up. We see this grace clearly displayed in the the Lord's healing of the leper in Mark 1. May we respond to our Lord's touch with gratitude and praise.
"The King" is our sermon series through Matthew. Matthew records back-to-back miraculous encounters from two very different people: a Jewish leper in outcast and a gentile centurion's servant. Both of them found themselves in a position of dependence on Christ for healing and hope and Jesus uses their healings to illustrate saving faith. If you made the decision to trust Jesus, or God challenged you in a specific way during this sermon, please let us know by contacting us at hello@newheightswv.com, so that we can celebrate and pray with you!
Our lesson begins in Matthew chapter 8. We will be looking into verses 1 thru 4 here on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.Dr. Mitchell points out the power of our Lord Jesus in this chapter. Jesus has power over disease, over demons, and over nature. So in this study, we see Jesus displaying power over disease by healing a leper. Leprosy is a picture of the defilement of sin. Jesus' healing this leprous man demonstrates His authority to forgive sins. This act showed Jesus as the Messiah spoken about in the O.T. The Messiah would be able to heal and He did.Jesus is able to heal the sick of spirit, of soul and of body. Jesus has died and shed His blood to cleanse from sin and guilt. The one who reaches out to Him in prayer and faith can receive that forgiveness and cleansing before God Himself. Here is Dr. Mitchell, Matthew 8:1-4.

Message by Larry Osborne on August 30, 2025. What do a leper, a soldier, a mother-in-law, and a bunch of crazy people have in common? More than you might think. The Piggy Bank, that most useful tool in teaching thrift and saving for a rainy day. The idea has been around for centuries, but the concept of a little slotted-back pig in every child's room is pretty recent and from the unlikely starting point of White Cloud, Kansas. The bank was inspired by Pete the Pig, sold by Wilbur Chapman to lend aid to the world's lepers. Pete's inspiration eventually inspired over a million dollars donated toward that cause. Title: A Leper and a Paralytic Bible Focus - Luke 5:12-26 Preacher - Barnabas Brownridge Date - 17/08/2025
An expository sermon from 2 Kings 5:1-19 on Namaan the Leper and the typology of sin.
God, in His abundant mercy, provided a way for the cleansed leper to be brought back in to society. This process was to be administered by the priests. Moses was also given instructions on how to treat a domicile that was infected with a leprous plague.
As Jesus heads towards Jerusalem, He is met by ten lepers. Leprosy is a struggle as it removed people from society, made them outcasts and unclean, and separated them from their families. Their hope was in Jesus alone, so they ask Him for healing. Jesus tells them to go show themselves to the priests, a bold act, and they are cleansed as they go. One of the ten turns back, kneels before Jesus, and gives thanks. This is the posture of believers saved by grace, not from worldly problems, but sinful soul issues.
Pastor Richard Sangwien's father was healed of leprosy and jaundice after attending a crusade led by evangelist T.L. Osborn in Thailand. After his miraculous healing, Richard's father became a pastor and planted several churches, leading many people to Christ. This miracle has now impacted multiple generations. On this episode of the Evangelism Podcast you will learn how one miracle can have a ripple effect that changes lives for many years to come.
God, in His abundant mercy, provided a way for the cleansed leper to be brought back in to society. This process was to be administered by the priests. Moses was also given instructions on how to treat a domicile that was infected with a leprous plague.
In Matthew 8:1-4 we see a man who had leprosy approach Jesus and ask to be cleansed. Jesus heals the man and instructs him not only not to tell anyone what he did but also to go to the priests and give the offerings commanded by Moses. In this Bible study we will unpack the context of what this meant for the leper in that day. We will look at Leprosy (Hansen's disease) as it was in the days of Moses, the days of Jesus and for us today. Finally we will look at this passage for modern application for us today, looking at leprosy as a picture of sin, and how we can see our own story today in Jesus healing the leper. This video was filmed at Adirondack Christian Fellowship. Sunday Sermon - Elisha Sermon Series
Just Joe was born into pain he didn't choose—abused as a child, shaped in silence, and twisted by what passed for love. In time, he became a mirror of the very harm he had endured, caught in a cycle of fantasy, compulsion, and deep confusion. Four marriages fell apart under the weight of secrets. Joe served nine months behind bars, spent three days locked in a psych ward, survived five years on felony probation, and wandered homeless in the deserts of California—his own self-made leper colony. For twenty years Joe sat in AA meetings, sober but spiritually bankrupt, never daring to touch the rot in his soul. It wasn't until he entered intense therapy that the truth emerged: he was emotionally stunted, mentally unwell, and spiritually starving. Joe had no program, just pride and pain. When he finally hit his bottom and failed at ending his life, he cursed God. And in that broken moment, grace didn't come like light—it came like a whisper: Help someone. Joe remembered what AA had always said. But who would want help from a man like him? A felon? A sex offender? Still, he searched—and found SA. And in that fellowship of the condemned, Joe found communion. He no longer wanted out. He wanted in. Back in the places he once dreaded, back with the men everyone else forgot.Reco12 is an open-to-all addictions and afflictions organization, dedicated to exploring the common threads of the differing manifestations of alcoholism; sharing tools, and offering hope from those walking a similar path. [2 Corinthians 9:7] You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” For God so loved the world, He ____________. If you believe in Gods ability to _____________, it will move you towards generosity. [Philippians 4:19] And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Generosity is the gateway to God's _______________. True generosity is a _______________ of our love for God. [Mark 14:1-9 NIV] Now the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread were only two days away, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were scheming to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him. [2] “But not during the festival,” they said, “or the people may riot.” [3] While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head. [4] Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, “Why this waste of perfume? [5] It could have been sold for more than a year's wages and the money given to the poor.” And they rebuked her harshly. [6] “Leave her alone,” said Jesus. “Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. [7] The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me. [8] She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial. [9] Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.” Anytime you give on a _______________ level you will hear a voice saying, “This doesn't make sense.” [John 12:1-3] Six days before the Passover celebration began, Jesus arrived in Bethany, the home of Lazarus—the man he had raised from the dead. [2] A dinner was prepared in Jesus' honor. Martha served, and Lazarus was among those who ate with him. [3] Then Mary took a twelve-ounce jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus' feet with it, wiping his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance. It's not the size of the ____________ that matters, but the size of the ____________ that it took to give the gift. Generosity reveals the true _______________ of our heart.

In life, are we driven by fear or faith?
He was made bishop by the Apostle Peter and sent to Gaul as a missionary. Some believe that he was Simon the Leper, whom the Lord healed, later named Julian in Baptism. In Gaul, despite great difficulty and privation, he converted many to faith in Christ and worked many miracles — healing the sick, driving out demons, and even raising the dead. In time the local prince, Defenson, was baptised along with many of his subjects. He reposed in peace.

In this week's podcast we discuss Baldwin IV, King of the Crusader state of Jerusalem and most famously known as The Leper King. Baldwin contracted Leprosy at an early age but it was slow to develop which allowed him to become king before being diagnosed. While leprosy was often a very shunned disease, he became a beloved and effective ruler even though is life and reign were short.
Jesus has the desire and the power to restore those who understand their need for grace.
Jesus has the desire and the power to restore those who understand their need for grace.
Mark 14:3-9While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head. Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, “Why this waste of perfume? Have you ever feared a serious diagnosis? Sickness can come with physical as well as social implications, and that was the case with leprosy in the ancient world—it was not only a death sentence, leprosy also led to exclusion and isolation. Naaman was a very highly respected commander of the Syrian army who had earned the applause of the world with his success, but he was also a repulsive leper. Unlike the world, God seeks out those who are sick to show them that He is real, and He sees their suffering. Those suffering from infirmity and isolation are always on God's A-list because, like Naaman, they have an opportunity to turn to the Great Physician in trust and have their lives completely changed. God invites the sick to His table to dine—and then He heals them. God values the sick. Do you?
The Bible tells us how enslaving, corrupting, alienating, and defiling sin is. Over and over again, Scripture reminds us of the terrible consequences sin brings. But sometimes, God SHOWS us those truths in stories. The story of Naaman the leper from 2 Kings 5 is one of those graphic reminders of not just the destructive power of sin, but the redemptive power of God in the Gospel. Sin tears us apart, but God puts us back together again—better than before!
