Today, I have the distinct pleasure and honor of hosting GRAMMY award-winning artist, Julian Alexander whose work has been a cornerstone of hip hop and rap for three decades. He's the creator behind iconic logos & album artwork that you undoubtedly recognize (artists including Jennifer Lopez, 50 Cent, Eminem, Destiny's Child, the iconic Mile Davis, and more). He's the founder of Slang Inc., a Brooklyn-based studio whose clients include the world's top agencies & brands. And also serves on the board of my charity, A Better Life Foundation. Julian Alexander is the founder of Brooklyn based design studio Slang, Inc. and has a rich history of artistic design within the music industry. We talked with Julian about his approach to design, the powerful work he's doing with the Supremacy Project, and heard stories about some of his past projects with artists such as Ghostface Killah, Jeru The Damaja, Nas, M.O.P., and Mobb Deep. Then we spoke about Julian's personal relationship with the platinum selling album Get Rich Or Die Tryin' and how working with 50 Cent has had a dramatic impact on Julian's career.

For our 250th episode, I'm so honored to bring you this conversation with creative director, graphic designer, and entrepreneur Julian Alexander. Julian may be most well known for designing the album cover for 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Trying, and his design work on the Miles Davis box set The Complete Jack Johnson Sessions even earned him a GRAMMY for art direction! Even with those huge accolades under his belt, Julian is a really humble guy, and I think that really comes through in the interview. We talked about how he got his start in design, his time as a design director for Sony Music, and I asked how his career changed for him after winning the GRAMMY. We also discussed the relationship between design and music, some of his current projects through his studio Slang Inc., and gave some really great advice for designers of all levels.
