When Higher is Lower…and Vice Versa | Luke 14:1–14 Pride isn't only arrogance. It can be the quiet voice of comparison, frustration, or resentment when others don't notice us. It whispers while we scroll through social media, envious of someone else's vacations or successes. Pride resists “messes,” but life is messy—like coffee spilled on clean carpet or a child getting sick before guests arrive. Yet Jesus enters our messes, just as He healed the man with dropsy at the Pharisee's house. Jesus warns us against seeking the places of honor. The world says moving up means status, salary, or likes, but in His kingdom, moving up often looks like moving down—caring for aging parents, changing diapers at night, or sitting quietly with a suffering friend. These humble acts, done in love, reflect His own humility. The Gospel is clear: Jesus humbled Himself to death on a cross to raise us up. Like a wedding guest expecting to sit near the kitchen but finding their name at the head table, we are welcomed to Christ's feast—not as outsiders, but as honored guests. Here at His Table, He feeds us with forgiveness and eternal life. The Church is not a showroom for the successful but a hospital for sinners. Like an ER that never turns away the sick, Jesus welcomes the broken. And He promises that when He returns, He will seat us at the eternal wedding banquet—a family reunion that never ends, never fractures, never fades. That is the joy set before us: where higher is lower, and lower is lifted forever in Christ. Ma w nim m.in. Tigers, Automation House, Huqiao i Sawicki Legal. Dan Prosser and Andrew Frankel discuss the great cars that were let down by their crap engines, and the brilliant engines that somehow found their way into terrible cars. Examples include the wonderful Alfa Romeo Busso V6 that was never used in a truly great car (except maybe once), the front-wheel drive, V8-powered Lancia Thema 8.32, and every diesel convertible ever built.Use coupon code pod20 at checkout to get 20% off an annual subscription to The Intercooler's online car magazine for the first year! On this special episode of the Real Estate Education Podcast, Erin and James celebrate their ten-year wedding anniversary by exploring the surprising parallels between successful relationships and smart real estate investing. Drawing from their decade of marriage and years of property investment experience, they break down six key principles that govern both domains: from the critical importance of communication and goal alignment to understanding when battles are worth fighting and why daily consistency trumps grand gestures. The hosts share candid insights about their own relationship dynamics, including lessons learned from their one partnership experience (a Colorado Springs duplex that taught them valuable lessons about working styles), and how their complementary approaches to decision-making have served them well in both marriage and real estate ventures. They also tackle common misconceptions, like the "never go to bed angry" advice and why the 1% rule isn't gospel, emphasizing that there's no universal "right way" to approach either marriage or property investing. Reach Out: Interested in consulting with Erin? Email erin@erinspradlin.com Work with James: James@JamesCarlsonRe.com Also in this episode: Why communication style matters more than you think when choosing business partners The danger of assigning negative motivations in both tenant relationships and marriage How their consulting work reveals common patterns in both real estate and relationship challenges Why playing to strengths works—but overall workload equality still matters The pickleball analogy for confidence in real estate investing Whether you're a real estate investor looking to improve tenant relationships, considering a partnership, or simply curious about how life principles apply across different domains, this anniversary episode offers practical wisdom wrapped in personal stories. The hosts remind us that success in both marriage and real estate comes down to choosing your battles wisely, communicating clearly, and showing up consistently for the long haul. Most podcasters treat email like a checkbox: “Sent the episode to my list—done.” But if that's your whole strategy, it's why no one's clicking. In this episode, email marketing legend and Do This Not That podcast host Jay Schwedelson is back to break down what it actually takes to use email to drive real podcast growth. You'll learn why the first two words of your subject line decide whether your email gets opened, the one stat that can 20x your open rate, and how to grow your list daily using content you're already creating. And if you've ever held back from emailing your list because you “don't want to be annoying,” Jay unpacks how that fear is quietly training your audience to ignore you—and what to do instead. You'll walk away knowing how to write emails people actually want to read, so hitting play feels like the obvious next step.So if you're ready to become the trusted voice your audience actually wants in their inbox (and their earbuds), hit play and let's dive in.3:15 – The Surprising Habit That Trains Your List to Ignore Your "New Episode" Emails6:14 – A Simple Way to Turn Podcast Listeners Into Subscribers (and Vice Versa)16:19 – Two Subject Line Hacks That 20x Open Rates8:15 – 5 Ways to Grow Your Email List From Your Podcast (Without Building a New Freebie Every Time)18:08 – What to Email Your List That Brings People Back to Your ShowEpisode Links:Get instant feedback on your subject lines before you hit send: SubjectLine.comCheck out Jay Schwedelson's Podcast: Do This, Not ThatConnect with Jay: Website | Linked InOther Episodes You'll Love:What to Post on LinkedIn to Grow Your Podcast This Week→ This episode was recorded on the Deity VO-7USupport the showLiked this episode? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Max and Matt tackle one of the trickiest parts of parenting: what to do when your partner doesn't quite nail a moment with the kids—and vice versa. From bedtime blowups to moments when one parent needs a “tap out,” they unpack how to handle these situations without throwing each other under the bus. They talk through the awkwardness of siding with your partner vs. comforting your kid, and how to navigate those moments without losing the united front. The guys get honest about apology dynamics, how to course-correct as a team, and why it's worth talking about the little things before they become big things. From real-time tension to therapy takeaways, this one dives deep into how couples can keep parenting (and marriage) strong—even when things get messy.Buy Violet Archer on Amazon HereMilkless on InstagramMilkless on TikTok

Well, habemus papam—welcome, Pope Leo!
Well, habemus papam—welcome, Pope Leo! Bless him… and us.I hope no one thinks me blasphemous, but I go to a church nearly every Saturday that is not denominational, nor is it held in any sort of ornate cathedral, temple or mosque. It's a plain wooden, open-air shed with a metal roof and a loose brick floor—but it's filled with goodness, joy and a diversity of devotees who share in the bounty of nature. It's the Boggy Creek Farmstand, one of more than a dozen farmers' markets flourishing in my hometown of Austin, Texas.Indeed, thousands of these secular-but-soulful gathering places that nurture body and spirit have cropped up all across America. From big city neighborhoods, to rural towns, they provide a genuine grassroots alternative to factory food and monopoly megamarts. The spread of this good food movement has been neither “miraculous” nor the product of some corporate conclave. Rather, it's the organic result of hundreds of local coalitions—small farmers, consumer advocates, environmentalists, community officials, and others dedicated to real, lasting progress of, by and for workaday people. When organizing a Texas network of these cooperative ventures in my years as state agriculture commissioner, we followed a path blazed by (shhhh, don't tell anyone) New York City. There, a pragmatic visionary named Barry Benepe and his can-do cohort were showing that small farmers could bypass the corporate system and profit by selling directly to consumers in the city. This is Jim Hightower saying… Our friend Barry passed away last month at 96, but what a legacy—45 Greenmarkets in New York City alone, and a national farm-to-table movement! In this weeks episode, Kylene and Patrick discuss how patterns of thinking and behavior like: compartmentalization, the ability to feel deeply, and being someone who's able to take action and get things done, can be great strengths in recovery, but those same strengths can also be our weaknesses in a different scenario. They discuss how understanding our wounds, identifying the filters we view life through, and processing our emotions can help us challenge our own perspective so we can choose the healthy middle. Nestled beneath the picturesque, snow-capped mountains in Colorado is a legendary hotel with a storied history. But when one novelist visited in the 1970s, he added to that story in his signature style, complete with dead twins, a decaying woman in a bathtub, and an elevator filled with blood. Was the Stanley Hotel haunted before Stephen King wrote The Shining, or is The Shining haunting The Stanley Hotel?
