I sit down with Washington football legend, Kasen Williams, who was just recently inducted into the University of Washington football Hall of Fame. We talk about numerous things from his view on meditation, mindfulness and visualization, and how they play a role in his life, to his up and down experiences in the NFL; from leading the NFL in preseason receiving and then getting cut, to dealing with an injury the day before he was going to get called back up to the active roster. We also reminisce on our time playing against each other in the State Championship in high school. This is an episode that I think any (Washington) sports fan will get something from listening.

Our position by position break down of the Indianapolis Colts roster has come to its finale. Today we look at the receiver position that has some top-end talent, but isn't getting much love after you get past T.Y. Hilton. But, as you can imagine, I disagree with that notion.  This receiver corps has the length, speed, physicality and youth that makes their collective star shine at this point in the process. Chester Rogers isn't being seen as a legit No. 2 or 3, until he comes through with an entire season in that role. Ryan Grant isn't seen as a shiny new toy, but may be the consistency and fundamental piece that can act as the glue to hold the unit together.  Guys like Krishawn Hogan, Kasen Williams, K.J. Brent, Deon Cain and Daurice Fountain will be so fun to watch within the throes of training camp to see who can be that possession/speed/route-running addition to get this unit some notariety throughout the season. This group is being slept on, and I go in to why as we wrap up the positional previews for the 2018 Indianapolis Colt Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

During last week's show, Adam and Brandan talked about how John Schneider would look at talent across the league to make some additions. In turns out that he wanted to make a much bigger splash than the usual additions of some fringe players on the roster. The Seahawks send Jermaine Kearse and a second round pick to the New York Jets for Pro Bowl defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson. This brings in the caliber of player Seattle has been looking for in the middle of their defense since Coach Carroll arrived. That wasn't the only trade that went down prior to solidifying the 53-man roster as Cassius Marsh was dealt to the Patriots. The guys talk about the chess match that must have been going on between the two GMs in that deal. The cuts of Pierre Desir and Kasen Williams may have been the two most disappointing cuts, but it's important to not lose perspective on the relative impact those players may have had on the final roster. Looking ahead to the matchup with the Packers in Week 1, Adam talks about how critical the pass rush will be to stopping Aaron Rodgers. He also reminds us all about the energy surrounding opening games and how the Seahawks could be in danger of falling behind early. Despite the strength of Aaron Rodgers and all his weapons at wide receiver and tight end, the Packers have their own weaknesses. It's going to be on Russell Wilson to show up and be on point like he's shown in the preseason. With Jermaine Kearse heading to the New York Jets, Adam and Brandan look back at five of the biggest plays Kearse gave us during his time in Seattle. As we welcome new members of the flock, we look ahead at the potential for keeping Richardson on the roster beyond 2017. Do better nods go to the officiating crew from the past game and their slow tablets and to the Seahawks latest unveiling that has some graphic designers cringing. Better at life nods go to J.J. Watt and his efforts to raise funds for Houston and Adam brings attention to the firefighters in Montana as an extreme fire season has gotten very little national attention. Hawks Playbook Podcast Episode 26   Exploring the 53-man roster Open:  Welcome again to the Hawks Playbook Podcast with your Host’s Bill Alvstad and Keith Myers. It’s been a great off season since we started 6 months ago way back in February, and here we are 26 episodes later.  If you have been with us since the beginning, we thank you.  If you’re just joining us for the first time (Bandwagoner!), we welcome you too! This is the first of two podcasts this week. It’s a great show and we’re glad you’re with us. In the News:  MEGA TRADE!!  We got Sheldon Richardson!! In a trade heard around the world, the Seahawks traded Jermaine Kearse, a 2018 2nd round pick and a 2018 7th round pick to the New York Jets for defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson.  As Keith points out in the show, the 7th was a throw in and the team was going to be moving on from Kearse anyway, so we essentially traded a late 2nd round pick for one of the game's best DTs.  Featured Segment:  Bill and Keith Breakdown the 53-Man Roster Bill and Keith bob and weave over the team’s final 53-man roster going through it by position group. It’s a nice comprehensive conversation that include why the team let go of Kasen Williams and moved on from Jermaine Kearse. They also talk abut the 10 guys added to the Practice Squad. Close:  Thanks so much for joining us on the podcast.  Please take the time to subscribe to the podcast our set www.hawksplaybook.com as a bookmark and look for a new show each week.  Follow us on your favorite social media as well.  Follow Keith on Twitter @MyersNFL and Bill is @NWSeahawk.

The Seahawks pick up another preseason victory after a 20-13 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin looked like they were already in midseason form as they put on a show in front of the home crowd. Russell Wilson threw for two touchdowns and the Seattle defense held the Vikings first-team offense to a couple field goals. Kasen Williams had another score and appears to have locked up a job on this team in the eyes of most fans. At running back the guys talk about the potential three-man race for the final spot on the roster and who is currently in the lead. The guys talk about which of the 2017 rookies are really standing out and which ones could play a significant role come Week 1. Pete Carroll's philosophy of letting a younger and more inexperience player crack the starting lineup could mean that guys like Ethan Pocic, Nazair Jones and Shaq Griffin can be contributors right away. With two preseason games down, Brandan is noticing that his feelings on two of the free agent acquisitions are going in opposite directions than expected. Eddie Lacy had the start this week and had fewer yards than any of the Seahawks running backs with more than three carries in the game. And it was Blair Walsh providing some excitement and taunting his former team with a pair of 50+ yard field goals. The upcoming game against the Chiefs gives the Seahawks another look at a strong defensive line going into the season. George Fant's gut wrenching injury appears to allow Rees Odhiambo to move into the starting lineup, but why isn't Joeckel, a guy they've flaunted as one who can play both guard and tackle on the left side, moving over to take Fant's job? After the break, the guys remind fans not to expect roster cut downs to 75 this year as the rules changed and now the cuts to the 53-man roster will be done all at once. Brandan talks about his experience in the Bay Area and how hyped Raiders fans are to have Marshawn Lynch playing for their team this season. The eclipse this week dominates the coverage in the Do Better segment and Better at Life honors go to a little league show of sportsmanship and a former rival wide receiver who decided to hang up his cleats. Hawks Playbook Podcast Episode 23 Preseason Game 1 Review / Game Two Preview (Vikings) Open:  This game showed us that the Seattle Seahawks have great depth this year and the cut down to the 53-man roster is going to be extremely tough. Kasen Williams: 4 jumping, twisting, fighting grabs.  Trevone Boykin: 12 for 15 passing for 189 yards, a touchdown pass and a TD run.  Chris Carson: A real nice 10 yard run in the 2nd quarter to set up a Blair Walsh field goal, and two goal line TDs.
