The Seattle Seahawks are 3-0 for the first time since 2013. So why does it feel different three games into the season than it did back then? One difference is that Russell Wilson has now set himself apart from the league and has some of the best weapons on offense of his career. But the defense has given up more passing yards to opponents than any other team in history. The 2011 Patriots and Packers and the 2018 Chiefs were playoff teams that had similar issues in the secondary through the first three games and went on two win a lot of regular season games. We take a look at what that means historically for a team's Super Bowl chances. We also get into the highlights from the last game against the Cowboys, the players who stood out, and some of the strange moments from Sunday's game. Sam Marcoux of the Perfectville Podcast joins us to preview Sunday's matchup with the Miami Dolphins. While Ryan Fitzpatrick may not be quite at the level of quarterback's the Seahawks have faced in the first three weeks, he has some significant weapons at receiver and had no problem torching the Jacksonville Jaguars defense on Thursday Night Football. Sam tells us why Seahawks fans should be crossing their fingers that his post-game attire is a red Hawaiian shirt. Congratulations go out to pick'em winners from the last two weeks. Sideline Sockeye for Week 2 and Unlimited Flocker for Week 3. In the Do Better segment, we learn there's a canary in the coal mine when it comes to finding power rankings that you should ignore. We also learn that Cowboys fans can tend to get litigious when their team is losing. Better at life honors go to Bills fans for coming up with an easy way to create Josh Allen apologies and to former Seahawks receiver Jermaine Kearse who announced his retirement this week. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - spoke for the first time since practice started back up on Montlake. UW Football is back! Or at least back practicing, pending the release of this next iteration of the Pac-12 schedule. We'd be surprised if it isn't released sometime this week, but in the meantime, the Seattle media spoke with Jimmy Lake, Elijah Molden, and Cade Otton Tuesday afternoon, and the Dawgman guys talked about those conversations, as well as how they see certain position groups working themselves out in the next four to five weeks. Then there was a big recruiting segment with Kim and Scott. Scott went up to the COVID 7's this past weekend at Tyee High School, where he got to see a load of in-state talent, including the newest 2022 commit, Chance Bogan. They also talked about the bumper crop of in-state linemen for the 2022 class, as well as Jimmy Lake's role as lead recruiter now that he's also the head coach of the Huskies, and what that means for the recruitment of the top 2021 in-state players like Emeka Egbuka and J.T. Tuimoloau. Here's a great recent podcast with Scott and 247Sports National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman that will catch you up on all the latest having to do with UW recruiting and the top in-state prospects. And finally, a shout-out to one of the all-time WR greats to ever play at UW, Jermaine Kearse, who called it a day after eight seasons as a professional. Congratulations to Jermaine! It's a Common Sense Tuesday and Puck and Slick get right to it discussing Jermaine Kearse as he announces his retirement, why are there folks that don't like him, is Slickhawk one of them? John Canzano is back for his weekly visit, are there any updates on the schedule, could a PAC-12 make enough noise to be considered for a chance at the national championship & more!
BREAKING: The Seahawks will host safety, Demarious Randall for a visit. The Titans have closed down their facility following positive COVID-19 tests. Last night, we saw the Chiefs carve up the Ravens, when Baltimore's defense was supposed to be good. Why are offensive numbers up around the league? In Around the NFL, we visit Monday Night Football, Jermaine Kearse's retirement and a new starter in Chicago. Things aren't looking up for Dan Quinn in Atlanta. Would he fit here in Seattle? Yes, but we don't see it happening mid-season. Finally, Flag on the Play! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Jermaine Kearse announced his retirement today and the show kicks off with some thoughts about a player who has been involved in so many huge moments in Seattle. Steve Palazzolo joins the show from Pro Football Focus to provide some insight into what is happening on the Seahawks with areas of strength (like Russell Wilson and the Offense) and areas of weakness (Pass Rush and defense overall).
It is Thursday, which makes it mailbag day on the podcast. Thanks to everybody who sent such great questions for this week's show. Unfortunately, there was not enough time to include all of them. Please feel free to resubmit your question for next week's show if it went unanswered this week.On this Thursday mailbag podcast we look at whether a recent Dolphins signing could result in Miami learning the Jets' signals, whether Terrelle Pryor or Jermaine Kearse should receive more playing time, whether the Jets should stick with the all white uniforms they showed in Week 1, whether the team should look to double dip on the offensive line in next year's Draft, what area of the team is most likely to fall back to earth in Week 2 after a strong Week 1, how shocking it was for Darron Lee to have such a strong game, how shocking it was for the Jets to return a punt for a touchdown, and book recommendations.
