Locked On Steelers – Daily Podcast On The Pittsburgh Steelers
Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Tony Serino of AFC North Talk. The Pittsburgh Steelers gave Mason Rudolph his first shot to run the first team offense. But how did he perform? Compared to Mitch Trubisky, there's obvious advantages to both early in training camp. Rudolph's timing has been an asset, but both he and Trubisky got to run two minute drills and Trubisky's veteran experience shined while Rudolph hesitated in the big moment. Still Rudolph does look like the most fluid QB in the system. Also, T.J. Watt had praise for Devin Bush and Myles Jack and what they're doing as off-ball linebackers for the Steelers defense. After Bush had a rough Monday, he's had two good practices that show he could bounce back. Finally, the Steelers put Jeremy McNichols on injured reserve and signed Ohio State rookie running back Master Teague III. Teague's speed and size could make him an interesting candidate to be Najee Harris' backup, but the Steelers are still looking for their No. 2 running back and Benny Snell, Anthony McFarland, Jaylen Warren and Mataeo Durant have all flashed potential. Can Teague take the spot? CALL INTO THE SHOW AT 412-223-6644 or if international, e-mail your audio message to LOSTEELERSTOPICBAG@GMAIL.COM Follow Chris Carter on Twitter: @CarterCritiques. “Bleav in Steelers” hosts Ike Taylor and Mark Bergin share their thoughts about the Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson facing a six-game suspension. Taylor shares his experiences in Latrobe for the Pittsburgh Steelers' training camp as he helps the team's scouting department ahead of the 2022 season. The guys share their thoughts on the back and forth between defensive lineman Cam Heyward and the recently retired Ben Roethlisberger. Other topics include Minkah Fitzpatrick entering training camp with a wrist injury, Matt Canada's comments that Mason Rudolph has a “great shot” at winning the Steelers starting quarterback job, Diontae Johnson's hold-in at training camp and the Steelers signing running Jeremy McNichols to a one-year deal. Steve Palazzolo of Pro Football Focus joined the show. Steve said what Diontae Johnson is worth to the Steelers and what he would grant on the open market. He said looking in the $20 million range presents a challenge because he may not be a top 20 receiver in the league. Steve gave his projection of Johnson this year in the post-Ben Roethlisberger era. He talked about the shortcomings of Johnson, but said he doesn't go too hard on him for the drops. He said elite guys don't have real weaknesses. Steve dove into Jeremy McNichols, who the Steelers just signed, but said he's likely RB3 instead of a backup at this point. In the same realm, Chris asked Steve about Benny Snell at this stage in his career. On the offensive line, Steve labeled Kendrick Green as “intriguing” saying he may have more potential than Kevin Dotson in the battle for guard. Steve thinks there is a chance the Browns make a push for Jimmy Garoppolo if they get bad news on Deshaun Watson that could impact the majority of their season. Steve said corner back is the biggest question mark on the defensive side, but made mention of key players at each level of the unit. “Tuitt is a much better player” was Steve's response to being asked if Larry Ogunjobi is a better player than Stephon Tuitt, who he described as “fantastic.” Chris asked Steve what is in store for Alex Highsmith in '22-'23, saying he could provide double digit sacks.

July 27, 2022 - Season 13, Episode 1 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, which was recorded late Tuesday night, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers reporting to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe for their 2022 training camp. The Steelers signed a new running back on Tuesday in Jeremy McNichols so Alex and I discuss his addition to start this show off. We go over his chances of making the 53-man roster and what we know about the Boise state product so far.Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin met the media Tuesday afternoon, so Alex and I recap all the main talking points that came out of his press conference. We discuss the two players who will miss the start of training camp with injuries, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and defensive tackle Tyson Alualu. We also discuss new Steelers defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi not having to start training camp off on the Active/PUP list.Tomlin talked about several other key topics ahead of training camp practices getting underway on Wednesday so Alex and make sure to touch on those as well.Alex released his pre-training camp 53-man roster prediction Tuesday morning, so we tear through that in the second half of this show.We then get everyone ready for training camp practices and the nightly reports from Alex that will follow each and every one of them.As usual, we close out this show by answering a few emails that we received from listeners.
The Steelers have arrived to St. Vincent as they prepare for training camp. What are the expectations for this group? The team has the highest paid defense in the league, featuring Cam Heyward, TJ Watt, Minkah Fitzpatrick, etc. The guys worry how far this defense can take them if Devin Bush has a season like last year. Another RB got added to the roster – Jeremy McNichols, who ran for 156 yards for the Titans last season. Does he provide something more than Anthony McFarland and Benny Snell? Former Steeler Ramon Foster joined the show. Ramon told the guys what the Steelers are getting in Jeremy McNichols, but says he's still a Benny Snell fan in the team's backfield. He said the Steelers need a player to give Najee Harris a breather and McNichols can be that player. The guys asked Ramon what might go into the guard battle happening between Kevin Dotson and Kendrick Green. Within that, Ramon commented on Green changing from center to guard this season and some challenges he may see. He said both guys will get plenty of tests in Latrobe because they'll both see Cam Heyward across from them. Ramon gave his insight on the Steelers QB battle with the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger. He says it's a toss up between Mason Rudolph and Mitch Trubisky – he doesn't want to see Kenny Pickett week one.
What will it take for Kenny Pickett to win the Steelers QB job? There is some concern of Pickett being the number three QB on the team's depth chart. Chris thinks Kenny will quickly move up the depth chart ahead of Mason Rudolph. Poni believes Kevin Colbert would still be pushing for Rudolph to be the man if he was the active GM. Pickett talked to the media as he showed up to camp and the guys broke down what they heard from the first round pick. The guys discussed where Rudolph's head is at coming into a season without Ben Roethlisberger in his way. Award-winning reporter Josh Rowntree joined the show. Josh was live at St. Vincent as players arrived at training camp. Josh expects the first practice tomorrow to shadow what he saw during mini camp in the spring when it comes to the QB competition. Josh doesn't see Mason Rudolph being a serious contender as the Steelers QB1 by the regular season. He gave his thoughts on the Steelers signing Jeremy McNichols, who may put Benny Snell or Anthony McFarland on the hot seat. Cam Heyward took a bunch of board games to training camp with his big one being Scrabble.

Welcome to 25 Yards Later, Sports Obsessive and Rumination Radio Network's fantasy football podcast! What we thought was going to be one of the quieter news sections of the season coming out of Week 8 ended up being one of the wildest news weeks in recent memory. Major injuries to Derrick Henry and Jameis Winston, trade deadline deals and non-deals, Aaron Rodgers' positive COVID test, and Henry Ruggs' tragic fatal car crash have all shaped the fantasy landscape for this week and beyond, so we decided to look at the teams with the biggest storylines going into Week 9. Plus, both Nick and Allijah take victory laps. What should we expect from the Dolphins under Tua now that he is definitely the dude for the rest of the year? Can Myles Gaskin turn his steadied volume into fantasy success? Why do so many people only like Reese's Cups? What is the rest of season outlook for the Titans' backfield? Will Nick's mid-show bid raise on Jeremy McNichols be enough to pick him up on the waiver wire? (Spoilers because the show was recorded before waivers ran: the raise was unnecessary but he did win and didn't spend that much more). What can we expect from the potentially very short Jordan Love era in Green Bay? What will the Saints' offense look like under Taysom Hill? And what if Trevor Siemian wins the Saints job? Find out the answers to these questions and more in this week's 25 Yards Later Fantasy Football Podcast! Follow us on Twitter @25YLFF, @nickgluciano, and @allijahmotika. Welcome in Slumpbusters! On this edition of the Slumpbuster Fantasy Football Podcast our special guest is Chris McConnell of the Roto Bros Podcast. Chris, Ju-Ju and Drew recap week eight of the NFL and what fantasy owners should know heading into the rest of the season with several key injuries. Quarterback: Kyler Murray has been electric throughout all of 2021. However, in the Thursday Night Football game against the Packers Murray injured his ankle. According to reports, Murray could be sidelines for 1-3 weeks. Jameis Winston on the other hand will be out the remainder of the season after suffering a ACL tear against his former team the Buccaneers. Who are some quarterbacks that can step in for these guys in your starting lineup? How worried are we about the struggling Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert? Should you trade Jalen Hurts now following his first truly bad game of the season? Running Backs: This segment is dominated by the biggest injury to the biggest star back. Derrick Henry suffered a broken foot that will likely keep him out the remainder of the regular season and potentially a Titans playoff run. Henry will be replaced by a tandem of Adrian Peterson and Jeremy McNichols. Will either Peterson or McNichols be worth owning out of Tennessee? Who is the lead back in the Eagles backfield, Kenneth Gainwell, Boston Scott or Jordan Howard? Is Mark Ingram worth playing against the Falcons? Wide Receivers: Calvin Ridley shocked everyone when he delivered a cryptic message about stepping away from football for his mental health. There is a lot of speculation regarding Ridley's future in the NFL. Is there a wide receiver that can replace his production in Atlanta? Is Julio Jones a Top-36 receiver without Henry in the offense? Does Jarvis Landry have anything left in the tank? We close by giving some DST streamers of the week. If you have any fantasy questions, feel free to comment below. Enjoy the show! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/maximoavance/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/maximoavance/support
