In this special Victory Tuesday episode of 'Skoldiers & Spice,' Sal Spice celebrates the Minnesota Vikings' dominating 42-21 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Joined by guest Sean Kenner (SK) and producer Dave Stefano on Vikings 1st & SKOL Network, Sal dives deep into Sam Darnold's career-best performance with five touchdowns, surpassing even Kirk Cousins' achievements. They discuss what this win means for the Vikings' season, especially with a current record of 11-2, and the increasing hype around Darnold potentially entering the MVP conversation. The episode turns introspective, as Sal reflects on her feelings about the team's journey and expresses newfound optimism. Viewer interactions and real-time chat shoutouts add to the excitement, touching on heartfelt topics and game-day experiences, including the unforgettable Corgi races and unexpected VIP upgrades. The discussion moves on to analyze the defensive performances and standout players like Shaq Griffin and Byron Murphy Jr. The conversation also delves into future prospects and the team culture under head coach Kevin O'Connell and GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. They tackle the looming question of what happens with Sam Darnold after this season, debating the economics and strategy behind keeping him or moving forward with rookie J.J. McCarthy. SK suggests the possibility of franchise tagging Darnold to ensure the Vikings get value in return, emphasizing the importance of balancing the team's financial health and roster quality. As the episode progresses, Sal and SK explore playoff scenarios, seeding possibilities, and which NFC teams pose the biggest threats. They agree that Tampa Bay and a resurgent Rams team could be challenging opponents, while also expressing concerns about traveling to hostile environments like Philadelphia. The show wraps up with a hopeful outlook and a call to fans to join the next tailgate event. This comprehensive discussion offers something for every Vikings fan, blending detailed analysis, personal reflections, and community engagement. 00:00 Introduction and Victory Tuesday Celebration 01:23 Reflecting on the Season and Sam Darnold's Performance 06:09 Fan Interactions and Personal Reflections 07:19 Game Day Experience and Emotional Reactions 20:48 Analyzing the Defense and Key Players 29:29 Future Prospects and Team Culture 32:06 The Financial Implications of Signing Sam Darnold 34:11 Franchise Tag Strategy for Sam Darnold 34:34 Evaluating J.J.

It has been weeks since we got to start with an IN on this show, and the Seahawks nearly got a shutout which would have brought all the INs. The Seattle Seahawks did give up a late score however before tacking on another touchdown from an attempted on side kick. The 31-7 win going into the bye week offers the team some hope at a playoff run in the second half of the season if Russell Wilson can come back and be his usual self. Defensively, Seattle appears to be finding its personnel grouping that gives the team the best chance for success. But there were some OUTs and to call out in this game. If you're a Seahawks running back with a name other than Alex Collins, Chris Carson, DeeJay Dallas, Travis Homer, or even Josh Johnson, you may want to skip this episode. The Seahawks come away with a 21-20 victory against the Bengals, and when the Seahawks win Clinton Bonner starts with an IN. The first of the year goes to Shaquille Griffin for coming up with some big time plays throughout the game as Shaq looks to rebound from his 2018 season. Props to Russell Wilson as he continues to put up efficient numbers while under duress and Al Woods comes up in a big moment in his first regular season game with the team. On the negative side of the ledger, Clinton calls out Cody Barton, Tyler Lockett and the gameplan on offense - any of which could have cost the Seahawks the game. It's almost time! Here are some thoughts on: - Key matchups to watch - Impact of Bulaga being out - Impact if Rawls is out - Fair expectations for Shaq Griffin in his debut - Fair expectations for the offensive line today
The Seahawks pick up another preseason victory after a 20-13 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin looked like they were already in midseason form as they put on a show in front of the home crowd. Russell Wilson threw for two touchdowns and the Seattle defense held the Vikings first-team offense to a couple field goals. Kasen Williams had another score and appears to have locked up a job on this team in the eyes of most fans. At running back the guys talk about the potential three-man race for the final spot on the roster and who is currently in the lead. The guys talk about which of the 2017 rookies are really standing out and which ones could play a significant role come Week 1. Pete Carroll's philosophy of letting a younger and more inexperience player crack the starting lineup could mean that guys like Ethan Pocic, Nazair Jones and Shaq Griffin can be contributors right away. With two preseason games down, Brandan is noticing that his feelings on two of the free agent acquisitions are going in opposite directions than expected. Eddie Lacy had the start this week and had fewer yards than any of the Seahawks running backs with more than three carries in the game. And it was Blair Walsh providing some excitement and taunting his former team with a pair of 50+ yard field goals. The upcoming game against the Chiefs gives the Seahawks another look at a strong defensive line going into the season. George Fant's gut wrenching injury appears to allow Rees Odhiambo to move into the starting lineup, but why isn't Joeckel, a guy they've flaunted as one who can play both guard and tackle on the left side, moving over to take Fant's job? After the break, the guys remind fans not to expect roster cut downs to 75 this year as the rules changed and now the cuts to the 53-man roster will be done all at once. Brandan talks about his experience in the Bay Area and how hyped Raiders fans are to have Marshawn Lynch playing for their team this season. The eclipse this week dominates the coverage in the Do Better segment and Better at Life honors go to a little league show of sportsmanship and a former rival wide receiver who decided to hang up his cleats. The starters played just one drive against the Los Angeles Chargers this weekend, but the story of the game was showcasing the depth of talent the Seahawks have this season. The 2nd team offense, helped by turnovers created by the 2nd team defense, put up 31 points before halftime. The Chargers were shut out in the second half to give Seattle the 48-17 victory. Brandan and Adam get into some of the standout performances, Adam reminds everyone "he told you so" when it comes to Boykin's ability to fill in behind Russell Wilson, and they discuss their reasons for optimism with the offensive line. Brandan already feels like he may have a preseason crush on a running back. Jessamyn McIntyre, executive producer at 710 ESPN in Seattle, joins the show to talk about her takeaways from the first preseason game. She says this is the type of game to give the team its swagger back and talks about her impressions of the Seahawks rookie cornerback Shaq Griffin. While the offensive line looked good, it's still tough to draw conclusions about which players will be starting come Week 1. Coming up August 23, Jessamyn is hosting a Seahawks fan event in Seattle and listeners of the show can enter to win free tickets at homestandsports.com/seahawkers or they can use the promo code "seahawkers" at checkout to get $5 off each ticket. In the second half of the show, some of the newest members of the flock share some thoughts on the team, and the guys get one of their favorite emails they've ever received. Do better nods to go a former Packers tight end for telling one of our Seahawks to essentially "shut up and play," and Adam gives a piece of his mind to people on Twitter for abusing an opportunity to send a message to a spacecraft celebrating its 40th anniversary. Better at life honors go to Bill Gates for what may be a record-sized tax exemption and to Kris Richard for letting us all know how cold blooded he can be at the end of a preseason game.
