On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined for a second time this week by frenemy and recurring guest Joe From Queens for a conversation about some under-the-radar players on the Bills that may end up needing to step up big in addition to the wide receiver room continuing to have more questions than answers. There's still time before the regular the season and ultimately what we see during training camp and the preseason may prove to be pointless, but at least the back half of the Bills receiving room has left something to be desired. Injuries and possibly underwhelming play led Brandon Beane to sign two veterans this week (Damiere Byrd and Deon Cain) in addition to reportedly working out Corey Davis, a former fifth overall pick in 2017. The guys discuss what they're currently thinking at the position, and end up revisiting the Stefon Diggs trade for the 10,000 time. Also, Injuries happen to key players on teams every season and as a result depth guys need to be prepared to step up. Of course, every player on the 53-man roster could potentially see their role increase due to injuries or other circumstances at any given time, but we're locking on six players that Patrick can see becoming important role players on the Bills this year if not more. Among them discussed as Joe vaguely pretends to be interested are Alec Anderson, Kaiir Elam, Mack Hollins, Dorian Williams, Cam Lewis and Austin Johnson. That plus a Browns vs Vikings scrimmaged has Patrick extremely worried, a Patriots trade of Matthew Judon that's tied to something personal to Patrick and much more. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatrickMoranTB Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel ♦♦♦♦♦ If you're looking into setting up a golf practice/enjoyment station in your home, basement, garage or backyard — SimTurf is your golf oasis, featuring premium synthetic turf. Hear from Colts players, Darius Leonard, Chester Rogers, Nyheim Hines and Deon Cain, in the locker room on Wednesday.
The Indianapolis Colts had a lot working against them before they ever stepped on the field in Pittsburgh Sunday. But, things got more difficult in a hurry with the loss of Jacoby Brissett, and Ryan Kelly in the first half. Still, the Colts had an opportunity to win on the road and a missed field goal attempt proved to be the difference in the game as the Colts fell to the Steelers 26-24. With T.Y. Hilton out at least for the next few weeks, the Colts had to make due with a largely inexperienced wide receiver corps. Deon Cain wasn't able to make anything happen on his two targets (one a drop), however, aside from a handful of drops by the pass-catchers, the unit wasn't a detriment to the team in spite of the loss of Hilton in the lineup. The team did stack up a healthy dose of costly penalties, wasn't able to win the turnover battle, and simply gave up too many free points which proved to be the nail in the coffin for the team on the road. But, it wasn't all bad either. The Colts defense held the Steelers to 4.5 yards per play, 1-of-4 in the red zone, and was able to hold them to 5-of-13 on third down opportunities. This is the fourth game in a row in which the defense has been a positive for the Colts, yet the team continues to be in dog fights and have now had all of their games decided by one score. The Colts' luck simply ran out in that category in Week 9. Parris Campbell had a nice game, Brian Hoyer did about as well as one could expect given his limitations, and Marlon Mack ran well behind an offensive line that has been failing to protect in the pass game or block efficiently in the running game recently. The Colts had multiple opportunities, but simply weren't good enough with sub-par overall play, and minus their top players at some pretty important positions. The Colts are now 5-3 (2-0 in AFC South) and are still in good shape if they can bounce back and win games they're supposed to win from here on out. The Colts host the Miami Dolphins in Week 10, and need an impressive win to regain the confidence of the fan base to get back on track. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Segments: 0 Intro 4:05 Things Kevin liked - Jacoby's play 10:52 Vinny redeems himself 17:22 Colts defense comes through when needed 22:52 Things Kevin didn't like - Rock Ya-Sin 28:21 Offensive execution 33:13 Inactive list from Sunday (Cain and Wilson) 40:12 Twitter questions See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Indianapolis Colts came into their Week 8 matchup with the Denver Broncos as one of the hotter teams in the NFL. Big wins over the Chiefs and Texans forced the national audience to take notice and see what the team could do next as they find themselves on top of the AFC South, and looking to make a run at the playoffs. Well, the Colts did pull out a 15-13 win at home, but they didn't look very convincing through the process to say the least. The Colts started out with their inactive list by having Quincy Wilson and Deon Cain off the field, which does nothing but add to questions of how the team feels about the two of them. Is Wilson in line to be moved? Maybe even Cain? Or was Sunday just a day to see what the team has in other receivers and options in the Colts' secondary? There were a host of issues with the team Sunday. The offensive line was dominated like we haven't seen in at least two seasons. The receivers weren't getting open consistently when Jacoby Brissett did have time to throw. The running game was okay, but the Colts had only 87 total yards before their final drive of the first half. Defensively, the team was decent, and was able to hold the Broncos to field goals or forced them to punt on multiple drives which ultimately saved the offense's tail in this one. Additionally, Adam Vinatieri reverted back to missing field goals and extra points in this one which nearly cost the Colts another game. I think it's fair to say that Frank Reich didn't have a great game behind the headset either, and though we often shower him with praise, Reich earned some tomatoes Sunday afternoon. In the end, a near safety turned into a 35-yard reception, which led to a Vinatieri field goal to win the game in spite of all that was wrong for 59 minutes of this game. The Indianapolis Colts are coming off of two impressive wins, and now are set to take on a very favorable section of their schedule over the next several weeks. That all starts with the Denver Broncos visiting Lucas Oil Stadium this Sunday. The Colts' offense is a bit of a conundrum in that they have several facets of their game in which they sit amongst the top 10 of the NFL including third down percentage, penalty yardage, time of possession and more. On the other hand, they sit near the bottom in yardage per game, yardage per play and more. So, how exactly is this offense being seen by other teams? Additionally, the defense has been inconsistent to say the least, yet each side of the ball has some big-play ability that isn't truly being harnessed right now. How will the Colts stifle the Broncos this Sunday? Can they wear down their defense as they have others in recent weeks? Can the defense stop the Broncos' running game and get to Joe Flacco throughout the game in order to cause some turnovers and rack up some sacks in the process? We'll take a look in today's show. We also take a brief look at the Colts' top PFF grades, what does that mean, and how confident can the team be going forward with some of their better players taking a while to get up to speed? Finally, Matt looks at the lack of production from receiver Deon Cain. Cain was a training camp darling in his rookie season before he was sidelined for the year with an injury. This year he's yet to do anything of note in spite of being on the field more than enough to get some production for this offense. We'll take a look at the film to see what his play versus the play of others including Jacoby Brissett, Frank Reich's role in Cain failing to make an impact, as well as what the rest of the receiving corps has to do with Cain being just a guy on the unit at this point. Does Zach Pascal's rise have anything to do with it? Is T.Y. Hilton too much of a target alongside the tight end group of Jack Doyle and Eric Ebron? We'll touch on a little bit of everything in order to look for an answer. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Indianapolis Colts have gone from an unknown commodity to being considered a force in the AFC in just a matter of a few weeks. They took out the Kansas City Chiefs on the road, and followed that up with a huge victory over AFC South foes, the Houston Texans. Jacoby Brissett, and the Colts offense, has appeared to be reliant on their running game for success, but after a career game in passing yardage and touchdowns, there seems to be a larger trust factor being given to the Colts' signal caller. Head coach Frank Reich has shown that his trust in Brissett has not wavered, and the roster looks to be in lock-step with their play-caller. The team's defense has also shown up the past two games. The return of Darius Leonard proved to be valuable in his ability to disrupt the Texans' offense, and give the defense a little extra confidence heading into their pivotal Week 7 AFC South matchup as well. On today's show, Chris Blystone joins Matt Danely as the two discuss the Colts' recent success, plenty about Brissett and his ability, how the defense deserves more credit for Sunday's victory than they're probably being given, the remainder of the Colts schedule, what may be the issue with Deon Cain failing to really make an impact, and much more. Additionally, Matt and Chris take a couple listener call-ins to get their take on the team and how they feel the Colts are doing right now. We didn't get a lot of calls, but we hope to do a call-in show weekly from here on out and hope that our great Stampede Blue community will participate as they did last season. The Indianapolis Colts are in an interesting place heading into their Week 4 matchup with the Oakland Raiders. Their defense has stalled in multiple aspects, but the offense has been one of the sweetest surprises, seemingly not missing a beat with Jacoby Brissett under center. The team is missing Malik Hooker, Darius Leonard, and Tyquan Lewis, three important pieces at all three levels of their defense. Now, some rookies are going to be filling in and hoping to make a splash themselves. Today Matt Danely will go in detail about how this thing will hold up, how Frank Reich has gotten in the head of the roster without them knowing it, as well as some thoughts on several positions. The safety group is going to have to find someone step up in coverage as Khari Willis has proven himself worthy of being the physical presence they need him to be. The receiver group is also in a pickle as T.Y. Hilton may be on the shelf. How can Deon Cain, Paris Campbell, and even Zach Pascal step up to the challenge and do it without the presence of Hilton on the field? Today we'll also go into the Pro Football Focus grades for the Colts for the first time this season. Additionally, we'll take a look at Football Outsiders and some basic NFL stat comparisons between the Colts and Raiders heading into their Week 4 matchup. Learn more about your ad choices. SummaryOn this episode of The Most Accurate Podcast, Chris Allen joins Greg Smith to parse through the Week 4 Waiver Wire. They begin by discussing how to navigate bye weeks, as well as how to adjust your waiver approach after you've spent most of your FAAB. Then it's on to the various positions, beginning with running backs before moving on to wide receivers, tight ends, quarterbacks, and team defenses. How will James White's return impact Rex Burkhead's fantasy value? What percentage of your remaining FAAB is Wayne Gallman worth? Which handcuff-type running backs have the most value off waivers? Would Deon Cain or Parris Campbell be the primary beneficiary if T.Y. Hilton misses time? Why isn't Kenny Stills owned in more leagues? Does Auden Tate matter? How about Demetrius Harris and Dawson Knox? How are we applying the small amount on data we have on newly appointed starting quarterbacks to our Week 4 waiver decisions? The Indianapolis Colts have now met another large preseason roadblock with the recent news of Andrew Luck announcing his retirement. However, the Colts have a lot going for them as the roster itself is in much better shape than it has been in recent years. Jacoby Brissett has now been thrust into the starter role as he's desired since getting the bulk of the starts in 2017. The Colts hosted the Chicago Bears on Saturday night and there was a lot to be excited about on both sides of the ball. The Colts lost 27-17, but that's not really what we're talking about here. With Chad Kelly getting more snaps, and making them count quite a bit now that the backup QB role is there for the taking, we'll discuss his performance, how he has appeared to acquired some instant chemistry with Deon Cain, and how the perspective on him has vastly altered since his initial signing. We also discuss the team's defensive improvements and which positions have benefited the most as the team prepares for the 2019 season. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Wow, what a haul from the Indianapolis Colts during the NFL Draft. Walking out of Nashville with Rock Ya-Sin, Ben Banogu, Parris Campbell, Bobby Okereke, Khari Willis, Marvell Tell III, and more speaks to the vision Chris Ballard has for this team long-term.Stampede Blue's Zach Hicks stopped by to go in-depth on their selections. Ya-Sin's wrestling background and physicality will make him a Day 1 starter, as will Banogu's rare blend of athletic traits for someone who is 250 pounds.Campbell was arguably the most exciting selection, though, because he has the highest 'star' upside. Pairing this dynamo of a receiver alongside T.Y. Hilton, Devin Funchess, Deon Cain, Eric Ebron and Jack Doyle makes Indianapolis' offense even scarier. The 4.31 speed of Campbell will take the top off opposing defenses. All of the Colts' selections fit the qualities they covet: physicality, athleticism, leadership, and production on tape. All 10 provided glimpses of these skill sets, which could be refined even further with solid coaching.Be worried, AFC. RotoUnderworld Radio Fantasy Football Podcast - Mind of Mansion, Ep 433: The Podfather Matt Kelley (@Fantasy_Mansion) and Josh Hornsby (@FantasyADHD) sound the alarm about David Njoku's role in Cleveland this season. Continuing our discussion of the optimal fantasy football best ball strategy. Aaron Rodgers ruined Jeff Janis' career, and he's not sorry. Matt Lacosse and Jacob Hollister are not draftable Gronk replacements. Treat Tyreek Hill as if he is radioactive until further notice. Sammy Watkins has not been efficient since 2015 and that matters. Chris Conley's squandered 2018 season was unforgivable. Matt Breida is the back to draft in San Francisco. Why Latavius Murray's ADP is still way too low. Is it possible that Derek Carr misses Jared Cook? Robert Foster could emerge at the alpha in Buffalo. Devonta Freeman is an auto-pick in the middle rounds. Lamar Miller is the fakest bell cow of all time. Jarvis Landry will be an excellent value play by August. Keelan Cole is being unfairly dismissed by best ball enthusiasts. Paul Richardson and Josh Doctson are ideal best ball receivers. Sterling Shepard can move outside successfully. James Washington is the ultimate sucker play in drafts. Vance McDonald is the big winner post-Antonio Brown in Pittsburgh. David Johnson will return to his elite running back roots this season. Christian Kirk is poised for a monster breakout. Desean Jackson will age better than most speedsters. Albert Wilson is a YAC machine. Stacking Bruce Ellington and Phillip Dorsett makes a lot of sense in best ball formats. Marquez Valdes-Scantling is a surefire breakout candidate. Tre'Quan Smith is a No. 2 wide receiver in New Orleans and no one cares. Demarcus Robinson could be the No. 2 wide receiver in Kansas City and no one cares. Fantasy gamers will regret forgetting about David Moore's 2018 breakout. Deon Cain is the perfect dynasty stash. Antonio Callaway will benefit from Cleveland's offensive resurgence. Hunter Henry and OJ Howard are top values at tight end. Cam Newton is the best value quarterback in fantasy leagues. Ryan Fitzpatrick is underrated once again. Josh Rosen should not be traded. Kyler Murray will make an instant fantasy football impact. Rod Smith qualifies for Truther status. Fresh fruit is a must-have brunch. The Saints will miss Max Unger more than anyone can possibly imagine. Advanced metrics, prospect evaluations, and fantasy football information were provided by PlayerProfiler.com
The Indianapolis Colts are preparing for a critical point in their roster rebuild and the 2019 NFL Draft may be the most important of Chris Ballard's time in Indy to this point. Today we continue our look at the team's needs heading into the offseason, and now we move on to the receiver class. This class of pass catchers is extremely fun and interesting to talk about. The class offers a deep field, with the potential for some of them to really break out at the next level, but at the current time, there aren't too many that could be pegged as true game changers. There are some big-bodied receivers, quick and quality route runners, as well as a handful with long speed to offer the deep threats that NFL teams just love to take a bit higher than they might otherwise be drafted. There is also an interesting group of slot receivers who could offer a needed aspect to the Colts' offense that they have yet to have under Frank Reich. Zach Hicks joins Matt Danely once again today, and the two discuss D.K. Metcalf, Kelvin Harmon, N'Keal Harry, Marquise Brown, Andy Isabella, Deebo Samuel, Riley Ridley and many more as they discuss the top of the position, the depth, the overrated and underrated talent, those who can offer possession traits as well as those who can complement T.Y. Hilton as a deep threat. The Colts need a legit No. 2 WR in one way or another for the 2019 season. Whether or not that becomes Deon Cain, a free agent acquisition, or one of these talents out of the draft, but they also truly need a viable slot weapon. This could quite easily be one of the most improved positions in 2019 if things go well. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
RotoUnderworld Radio Fantasy Football Podcast - Mind of Mansion, Ep 427: The Podfather Matt Kelley (@Fantasy_Mansion) and Alex Dunlap (@RosterWatch) lampoon John Elway as the Broncos plunge into perpetual mediocrity with Joe Flacco at the helm. What the hell happened to Todd Gurley at the end of last season? Sean McVay is not overrated. The reasons why Julian Edelman is not an NFL Hall of Famer. Kareem Hunt is a bad fit on the Browns. Rashaad Penny is a strong buy in dynasty. Where Le'Veon Bell should sign to make himself and fantasy gamers happiest. Where Nick Foles and Teddy Bridgewater should sign this offseason. Remember, the Jets drafted Christian Hackenburg in the 2nd round. The reason Bob Stoops is in the XFL. Should the Cardinals punt Josh Rosen and draft Kyler Murray? Dwayne Haskins is being unfairly dismissed due to a thin résumé. Deebo Samuel was the most impressive skill position player at the Senior Bowl. Jaylen Smith was the most disappointing skill position player at the Senior Bowl. Andy Isabella helped his draft position the most of all players at the Senior Bowl. Tyre Brady may be underrated. What happened to Anthony Johnson? David Sills stood out for West Virginia this season. Wes Hills from Slipper Rock looks slippery. Karan Higdon was the best-looking running back at the Senior Bowl. Ty Johnson not getting a Combine invite was a mistake. Keelan Doss is a deep sleeper wide receiver prospect. D.K. Metcalf is going to exceed all athleticism expectations at the NFL Scouting Combine. David Montgomery may run very slow at the Combine. Elijah Holyfield could supplant Josh Jacobs with a monster combine performance. Darwin Thompson is a top small school sleeper running back in the NFL Draft. J.J. Aarcia Whiteside could be the top wide receiver in this draft class. Deon Cain is an ideal wide receiver truther candidate for the Colts. Don't get too locked into one player in fantasy drafts. Advanced metrics, prospect evaluations, and fantasy football information were provided by PlayerProfiler.com

Fantasy Football Podcast: RotoUnderworld Radio - Mind of Mansion Ep 414: The Podfather Matt Kelley (@Fantasy_Mansion) and Greg Smith (@GregSauce) are skeptical of DeVante Parker's latest breakout game. Why all fantasy leagues need to add an extra QB slot and multiple flex positions. Is the Patrick Mahomes hype machine cranking too hard at this point? Doug Baldwin and Marcus Mariota are the most disappointing players in fantasy football. Jameis Winston can't come back from eating his fingers. Pivoting from Rex Burkhead to James White worked out. Russell Wilson and Kirk Cousins show that offensive line play does not affect fantasy quarterback production. Ty Montgomery is headed to Baltimore. Will he fantasy relevant? Aaron Jones is a high-end fantasy RB2 the rest of the way. Is Chris Carson or Peyton Barber the most underrated between-the-tackles grinder? Is Jalen Richard the most underrated satellite back? Is DeAndre Washington stash-worthy? Stash Chris Conley immediately. Ride James Conner the rest of the season. Elijah McGuire is an excellent RB stash for the second half. Demaryius Thomas is a shell of his former self. DeAndre Hopkins will be the best fantasy wide receiver the rest of the way. Philadelphia won the WR sweepstakes getting Golden Tate at value. Calvin Ridley is not a top-5 rookie wide receiver. Jarvis Landry looks like a fraud wide receiver. Now is the time to buy Corey Davis. Desean Jackson is a better real football player than a fantasy option. Drew Brees is Drew Brees: A strong DFS tournament play. Cam Newton is the cash play of the year. Orlando Scandrick and Steven Nelson are playing better than advertised in Kansas City. OJ Howard is currently a better all-around tight end than David Njoku. George Kittle will be a top tight end the rest of the way. Deon Cain is a sneaky dynasty stash. Lamar Jackson will become the Ravens quarterback and lead fantasy teams to championships. The Indianapolis Colts still have several unresolved positional battles, and even more positions that are being hampered by injuries. Charon Vonberg (NFLAnalysis.net) joins Matt Danely to dive into these topics as the Colts prepare for their second preseason matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. The Colts will be holding joint practices with the Ravens, and after their Thursday matchup in Seattle are getting a bit more of a break between games with their second preseason game being Monday. The Colts have some depth issues as running back right now in spite of signing Branden Oliver, there continue to be issues with some of the receivers near the top of the depth chart and the offensive line is still a real work in progress with several of them missing crucial practice time. The Colts added another defensive end after placing standout rookie receiver, Deon Cain, on injured reserve which could end up being a precursor to more moves as injuries are piling up there as well. Can Tyquan Lewis or Kemoko Turay get themselves healthy enough to become hopefuls for the regular season? Is Hassan Ridgeway poised to continue ascending after his impressive preseason debut? All of these questions need to be answered. Charon talks about what he's seen in camp from some of these positions in question and we also talk about how Andrew Luck doesn't need to throw it deep in a preseason game to prove anything. This preseason should be all about creating rhythm as will it be in the regular season, with the understanding that the deep balls will come with time and opportunity. We also discuss the linebacker position. We talk about who we see missing the 53-man roster, who we'd like to see more snaps from as the preseason carries on and how several of them have great potential that simply needs to make small jumps each week in order to get this defense moving in the right direction before the regular season gets under way. Today we have the interviews from Day 2 of Colts training camp. We get coach Frank Reich first getting in on how Andrew Luck has bounced back from his first days of practice. What he expects from him going forward. We also get Chester Rogers at the mic talking about how his role has changed from a year ago, what his approach is to this season for him and what the receiver unit needs to do to become a group that is on everyone's radar heading into the 2018 season. Last, and certainly not least, we get to hear from Deon Cain. Cain has been the lightning rod thus far in training camp. Mind you, that some guy named Andrew Luck has just returned from being out for a year, and Cain is the headline. Cain isn't just doing these great, flashy catches either. There's a much more inclusive reason for the excitement that follows him right now. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Our position by position break down of the Indianapolis Colts roster has come to its finale. Today we look at the receiver position that has some top-end talent, but isn't getting much love after you get past T.Y. Hilton. But, as you can imagine, I disagree with that notion. This receiver corps has the length, speed, physicality and youth that makes their collective star shine at this point in the process. Chester Rogers isn't being seen as a legit No. 2 or 3, until he comes through with an entire season in that role. Ryan Grant isn't seen as a shiny new toy, but may be the consistency and fundamental piece that can act as the glue to hold the unit together. Guys like Krishawn Hogan, Kasen Williams, K.J. Brent, Deon Cain and Daurice Fountain will be so fun to watch within the throes of training camp to see who can be that possession/speed/route-running addition to get this unit some notariety throughout the season. This group is being slept on, and I go in to why as we wrap up the positional previews for the 2018 Indianapolis Colt Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
