Today's Eagles mock draft has a highly rated edge rusher in Tennessee's James Pearce falling to the Eagles. WIP midday show reacts to the pick
Grant's feeling a bit more hopeful about the 2025 season lately, while Lee talks about having reasonable hope compared to blind hope. Nevertheless the vibes coming out of spring ball have been pretty good, particularly surrounding the WRs. Grant says it's reasonable to be excited about many parts of the roster, but there are 3-4 position groups with serious questions (2:05). We watched practice video of pass catchers taking on DBs in 1-on-1s and we've got a lot of thoughts. Probably the most we've talked about the tight ends in a long time (18:20). We also got 1-on-1s of the O-Line taking on the D-Line. Several practice thoughts commence. It seems reasonable to expect David Stone to make a jump based on the evidence on hand (37:35). It appears Lee's conspiracy theory about Gentry Williams was wrong (50:05). Brent Venables appeared with Josh Pate in a recent interview. Lee has many thoughts-- most of them negative, but we did learn at least a couple of things (53:40). Trae Young is now the assistant GM for men's basketball, but what does that mean? Rants about players transferring all the time (1:10:20). Lamenting the death of the traditional spring game (1:19:30). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets
Welcome to the SteelCityInsider Podcast! In episode #142, we're breaking down the Pittsburgh Steelers' draft strategy with Roy Countryman, and why it is likely the first-round pick will be a defensive lineman. From first-round DL picks to the 2026 QB draft outlook, plus a nostalgic look at Fred Taylor's 2000 bludgeoning of the black and gold defense, we've got you covered with insights every Steelers fan needs!
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran discusses several of the top and second tier defensive lineman prospects that Buffalo Bills fans should definitely start familiarizing themselves with before the NFL Draft a handful of weeks from now. There's several reasons the Bills will be picking defensive line early and perhaps often in this draft. Between the looming six game suspensions of new free agent signees Michael Hoehct and Larry Ogunjobi, the expected ease with snaps early on with Joey Bosa and the fact several prominent lineman are in the final year of their deals (Bosa, Ogunjobi, Daquan Jones, AJ Epenesa) there's both immediate and long term needs there.Patrick goes over a lot of the top prospects at both edge and defensive tackle. James Pearce Jr. feels like a guy he thinks fans should keep an eye on at edge and wonders if Brandon Beane has the guts to take a chance with Mike Green while he'd be tickled pink to see Buffalo take Derrick Harmon or Kenneth Grant at defensive tackle with their first pick.He also shares his thoughts on Christian Benford's new contract, the incredible in-house offseason has put together and comments from the Bills GM that makes it sound like James Cook get a contract extension anytime soon is extremely far fetched. That plus show mixups and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Chris Ostrander (Two in the Box) to discuss how much more the Buffalo Bills can still add to their defensive line given their unique situation as well as some actual reasons for optimism for the Buffalo Sabres.Brandon Beane and his Bills find themselves in a bit of a bind. New additions Michael Hoehct and Larry Ogunjobi are both suspended for the first six games but when they return for Week seven, if the unit stays healthy they could find themselves as part of at least nine defensive lineman already on the active roster. Of course, that's before next month's NFL draft, where Beane's almost certain to add more talent via rookie picks. The guys discuss how much may end up being too much and if there's going to be two rookies as high picks on the roster, who can end up being the odd man out, again muddled up by the suspension of two guys who'll miss a third of the season.Sticking with the Bills the guys also discuss how they're feeling about a month out from the draft in terms of what Beane may (or may not) have up his sleeve. Do Patrick or Chris sense a big Beane move coming? They also spend a few talking about the offense including who's more important to their 2025 success— Dalton Kincaid or Keon Coleman.Turning over to the Sabres, they continue to be bottom feeders in the NHL but for today at least, the guys are discussing some of the reasons for optimism beyond Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin. Chris talks about what he's seen and liked from players such as JJ Peterka, Ryan McLeod, Jason Zucker and Alex Tuch. That and plenty more!Be sure to follow Chris on X at @2ITB_Buffalo and check out the Two in the Box blog in addition to the Instigator Podcast.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the team's plan for how to improve along the defensive line for 2025. That position has always been a priority, led from the top down by Andy Weidl and the team's plan to follow the blueprint put forward by the Philadelphia Eagles, but until Sunday, it was hard to suss out exactly how it was going to come to pass. With the Steelers signing former New England Patriots defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale on Sunday, things are coming into focus. Ekuale is a former starter for the Pats, but projects best as a rational piece. He's the perfect type of player to be a just-in-case option if the draft does not fall according to plan. He will also be a big upgrade on the depth options from 2024, assuming the Steelers secure a rookie like Kenneth Grant, Walter Nolen or Derrick Harmon in the 2025 NFL Draft. Alan breaks it down. Ep. 855 - In need of a defensive lineman? Or two? Want to upgrade the talent in the room? Add depth? Well, then you're in luck because the 2025 NFL Draft is loaded with prospects who can help a team, and maybe even help right away. At least that's the consensus from ESPN Draft Analysts Matt Miller and Jordan Reid, who joined both Craig Grialou and Dani Sureck from the Scouting Combine last week in Indianapolis. In addition to hearing from Miller and Reid in separate interviews, Craig and Dani shout-out Ron Wolfley. He announced on Friday that he's stepping down as the Cardinals radio analyst after 20 years in the booth. It's a loss, it's a big loss. But good for Wolf.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
