This episode is close to Tressa's heart (pun intended)... In this episode, you'll hear the stories of 2 cardiac arrest survivors who were saved by strangers who performed CPR on them. In both instances, these strangers worked together - as a team - to literally bring these folks back to life. Tressa had the honor and the joy of spending time with the survivors and some of those strangers at the 5K event in Kittanning, “Run For Your Life”. Ted committs to helping Blake, despite Emmett’s very loud and very aggressive warnings. Justin does a favor for Daphne and blurs some lines in the process. Brian deals with a loss the only way he knows how. Also, we detour briefly to thank all the adoptive parents, both legal and implied, who have opened their hearts and homes to younger members of the LGBTQ+ community. *To be clear, we know the members of the Liberty Ave. gang all love each other. They just misunderstand and mishandle each other at times. Just like any other family!

So who's Lee Terbosic? Well, he's a professional magician who's performed for the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Aaron Paul, Gene Simmons, Jack Black, Andy Grammar, etc. In 2016, Lee performed the Houdini's straight jacket escape on the same date/time as Houdini did in downtown Pittsburgh exactly 100 years ago. He also just finished a documentary series for Discovery's Science Channel where he and Houdini's longest living relative, George Hardeen, let the viewers peak behind some of Houdini's finest secrets. Lee also writes, produces and hosts a 1 man theater show in Pittsburgh @ Hotel Monaco called 52 Up Close. (It's wrapped up for the winter but will resume in Summer 2019). However, you can check him out in the spring doing a new/different kind of show "In Plain Sleight" at Liberty Magic on 811 Liberty Ave. This guy has a real cool story that's led to the things he's doing now. Excited to share and hope you enjoy! For the 128th episode of Start The Beat I sat down with Dennis Childers and Steve Sciulli of the band Carsickness. For those of you who don't know, Carsickness was an Art Punk/No Wave band from Pittsburgh who primarily existed from 1979-1982 and are considered to be one of the most influential bands to emerge from the prolific Pittsburgh Punk scene of the late 1970s. Dennis from Carsickness is also one of the curators for the Non-Punk Pittsburgh exhibit currently showing at the Space gallery on Liberty Ave in Downtown PGH which is a retrospective of the music and arts during the fall of the industrial revolution that opened the door for the vibrant arts community Pittsburgh has today.I talk with Dennis and Steve about what the music scene was like in Pittsburgh during the late 70's/early 80's and compare it a bit to how things are today. Even after Carsickness, Dennis & Steve have both continued to write music and play in bands together throughout the years and are still at it today! At Get Hip Records, we just re-released some of the original Carsickness material, re-mastered on Vinyl & CD and they are hosting a release party for it on April 21st at the Non-Punk Pittsburgh event. They will be performing together live for the first time in a long time alongside The Full Counts & The Nox Boys. It's a FREE event. Be There if you can! Sit back, relax and let's START THE BEAT!
