The Promise of RestorationToday's Passage: Luke 4:16-21And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21 And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”For more information about this Advent season, visit our Christmas at Fellowship page. You get ready for Christmas by getting ready for Jesus. Let's learn from a man who spent his entire life preparing the way. Passage: Luke 3:2-16 Speaker: Kevin Stiles

Passage: Luke 16:19-31 Speaker: Alastair McNeely Sermon: Sunday PM Date: 7th December 2025
Advent is a time of great anticipation as we await the Christ-child entering our world at Christmas. This year, through the imagination of C.S. Lewis and his book The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, join us on Sunday mornings as we uncover the story of the birth of Christ in a new way. C. S. Lewis writes this story against the backdrop of war. Little children are shipped to the North of England, away from London bombings. Imagine the Pevensie children's fear and powerlessness, but also the power of a story like this to restore their hope. Two thousand years before, a girl not much older than Susan wondered, "How can this be?" The truest things are not always the most probable. Salvation comes in extraordinary ways. What did you notice about the people around Jesus on the cross—the rulers, soldiers, bystanders, and criminals? GROW G1 Jesus says, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Where in the passage do you see people acting without understanding? Why do you think Jesus highlights their lack of awareness? G2 Dan highlights four groups who needed forgiveness. Which group do you personally relate to at different times in your life—the indifferent bystander, the one who sneers, the one who mocks, or the one who lashes out from a place of pain? G3 Luke shows that in this moment multiple Old Testament prophecies were being fulfilled. How does seeing Jesus' death as part of God's long-planned rescue mission strengthen your trust in God's sovereignty or compassion? G4 A major theme was the contrast between what Jesus did (he forgave) and what he did not do (he did not save himself). Why is it significant that our forgiveness depended on Jesus refusing to save himself? G5 The second criminal recognized Jesus, admitted his own guilt, and simply said, “Remember me.” Why do you think this humble, two-word prayer was enough for Jesus to respond with such grace? G6 In your own life, where do you sense Jesus gently saying, “I am better”—better than the idols, distractions, or alternative “saviours” that compete for your heart? What does that invitation mean for you right now? SHOW S1 Where do you need to turn toward Jesus today—in repentance, in trust, or in surrender? What might it look like for you to say, in your own way, “Jesus, remember me,” and to receive his forgiveness and presence this week?

Mary Magdalene is introduced as the one “from whom Jesus had cast out seven demons,” and yet unlike some of Jesus' closest friends, Mary didn't need to put her hand in the risen Jesus' side. She knew Him by His voice. While others may look at you and see only your past, know that Jesus is the one who holds your future. Know His voice. Passage: Luke 8:2, John 20:1-18 Speaker: Kevin Stiles

Would our faith, worship, and ministry carry on? Why or why not? Grow G1 In verses 5–6, the disciples are impressed by the beauty of the temple. Why do you think people can so easily be drawn to the visible, tangible parts of faith (buildings, music, programs) rather than to God Himself? G2 Jesus tells them that even the most impressive religious structures can come down. How does this challenge the ways we attach our sense of stability, identity, or faithfulness to physical things? G3 What are some modern “temples”—things that are good gifts but can subtly move from aids to worship into objects of worship? G4 In verses 7–11 Jesus speaks of upheaval, uncertainty, and things falling apart. How does trusting Jesus help us stay steady when the externals of life (or church life) feel shaky? G5 Jesus promises His presence and His words when trials come (vv.14–15). How have you seen God strengthen you or give you words when you felt unprepared or overwhelmed? G6 Verses 16–19 speak of endurance. What does faithful endurance look like today—not in dramatic persecution only, but in everyday discipleship? Show S1 Reflect honestly: What “temple” or “aid to worship” in your own life is at risk of becoming an idol—something you might cling to more tightly than Jesus Himself? What is one step you can take this week to re-centre your heart on Him?

What did you learn about who the Sadducees were and what they believed? Grow G1 — The Sadducees tried to trap Jesus with a question about marriage in the resurrection. Why do you think people sometimes try to make faith seem unreasonable or absurd? G2 — Jesus says that in the “age to come” there will be no marriage or being given in marriage. What does this teach us about how different life in the resurrection will be from life now? G3 — How does understanding that marriage on earth is a symbol pointing toward the union of Christ and the Church change the way we see marriage today? G4 — Jesus reminds us that in the resurrection we will be like the angels — not angels, but unable to die and fully alive to God. How does that reshape your picture of heaven? G5 — Think about Jesus quoting Moses at the burning bush — “I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” What does this reveal about God's view of life, death, and resurrection? G6 — Dan said, “What you believe about heaven will change how you live life on earth.” How might a strong theology of heaven affect your perseverance, priorities, and perspective today? Show S1 — The sermon mentioned that people enduring hardship — from enslaved Africans to those World Hope serves — often draw strength from their hope of heaven. How can you bring that same hope into your community this week? What's one way your group could practice being a “family of God” here and now?

How does seeing Jesus as compassionate and attentive reshape the way we approach Him in prayer? K2 Jesus asks, “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (v.8). What kind of faith is He looking for, and how can we cultivate that kind of steady trust in Him today? Grow In Groups G1 Why do you think Jesus emphasizes persistence in prayer? Share a time when you had to keep praying even when you didn't see results right away. What did you learn about God in that season? G2 In what ways can we encourage one another to keep praying and believing together as a group or church? How might community help us not “lose heart”? Show Up and Serve S1 How does Jesus' concern for justice inspire us to act when we see others being treated unfairly? What does it look like to be part of God's answer to someone else's cry for help? We all ask it: "Where did it go?" Our paychecks disappear, our budgets feel tight, and financial stress is more normal than financial peace. But the problem isn't just math—it's mission. This series explores what Scripture says about debt, tithing, and eternal investment, helping people not just manage money better but trust God more deeply and live more generously. Jesus tells the story of the Rich Fool—a man who thought more stuff would bring more security, but died before he could enjoy it. His mistake wasn't being rich—it was trusting in riches. In the same way, many today are buried under debt, trying to live lives we can't afford in pursuit of peace we can't buy. Debt promises freedom but delivers slavery (Proverbs 22:7). This week challenges us to stop letting money control us and instead take back our margin by putting God first. Passage: Luke 12:13-21; Proverbs 22:7 Speaker: Kevin Stiles

What's important to God should be important to us. It's no surprise that people matter to God. But what may come as a shock is which people matter to Him: all of them. He doesn't just love the sheep in the fold—He loves every sheep. If we are truly following Jesus, we must follow Him beyond the safety of our Christian circles and into the world to seek the lost.
