It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dr. Roderick C. Meredith, Editor-in-Chief of Tomorrow’s World and Presiding Evangelist of the Living Church of God. He had been suffering from cancer and died peacefully on May 18, 2017. He would have been 87 years old in June. Longtime readers of Tomorrow’s World have read and become familiar with these “Personals” from Editor in Chief, Dr. Roderick C. Meredith. Sadly, Dr. Meredith, who is nearly 87 years old, has been diagnosed with an advanced stage of cancer, and his days appear to be very limited. It grieves me to inform you of this, as I have known Dr. Meredith since I first took his Freshman Bible class at Ambassador College in 1965. On October 31, 2016, the 499th anniversary of Martin Luther’s famous “Ninety-five Theses,” the head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis I, traveled to Sweden to take part in the many events there commemorating the beginning of the 500th year of the Protestant Reformation. While there, he participated in a joint prayer service in a Lutheran cathedral in the city of Lund—a cathedral which had once been Catholic, but which was seized when Sweden officially rejected Catholicism as the state religion. Our western society is usually willing to admit to the fact that there are many "problems": big city violence, rebellious young people, broken families and confused children. But what we normally do is fail to find the real cause of the problem so we can get at an actual solution. Rather, our modern approach to problems is to try to treat the "symptoms"—without ever searching out the genuine cause. For instance, many researchers have found that millions of people living in supposedly deprived areas of the world are often seemingly immune to modern illnesses such as cancer, high blood pressure and diabetes.
