Where is the world's economy headed? Will the cost of living continue to climb? Will we see another recession—or worse yet, a full-blown economic meltdown? These are not theoretical questions. Whether you own your own business, work for an employer, or are on a pension, your money is important. These questions affect your life. Much of the financial news in our headlines is not good. We hear of tariffs and trade wars; fears of a recession; rising inflation—and we see the escalating prices first-hand in our grocery bill. We see alarming news of a national debt in the U.S. that now sits at over $36 trillion. It's a colossal mountain of debt that's hard to comprehend. But debt is not just an American problem. A number of countries in the Western world are also carrying extremely high debt, expressed as their debt ratio—the amount of debt in relation to GDP, or Gross Domestic Product. The World Population Review website lists the American national debt at 122% of GDP. That means that the debt accumulated by the government of the United States is significantly above the value of what the entire nation produces. That should be deeply concerning to us. And other nations aren't far behind. France's debt ratio sits at 111%. And Canada's debt ratio is similar, at 108%. The United Kingdom's is not far behind, at 97.6%. So, many countries are carrying a sizable amount of debt. And all it takes is a few unexpected disasters—polycrises as they are now beginning to be called—for prices to soar and jobs to disappear. So, what does the future hold for our Western nations? The sobering news is, there are tough times ahead. But you and I can be ready. If you are concerned about the financial welfare of your children and grandchildren, you don't want to miss today's program on Tomorrow's World. We don't have to face the future unprepared. The Book of Revelation is a great mystery to many -- a book to be avoided. However, it tells us at the very beginning, “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near” (Revelation 1:3). Has World War III begun? Are the wars going on right now going to grow into a massive global conflict? Has that process started already? Our world is home to major religions with a multitude of factions within them. Christianity is the most diverse, with various forms of Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant, and within each, especially Protestant, there are a plethora of differing denominations. The next largest belief system is Islam, with Shia and Sunni factions. Then we have Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Sikhism, Atheism, and more. Many people openly confess they have their own personally devised faith. Spiritual, but not religious, is a common refrain today. It's impossible to accurately number the never-ending proliferation of belief systems in a world of over eight billion human beings. For any thinking person, no matter what his faith, a question must arise: How do I know that what I believe is true? After all, doesn't everyone think that what he or she believes is true? Volcanic eruptions are beautiful and awe inspiring, but they can be destructive and deadly. Hurricanes rip apart homes and disrupt lives, as do floods and earthquakes. How do we make sense of such a dynamic planet? If God is a loving God how do we explain so-called, natural disasters? Why does He allow disruption, destruction, and desolation--often resulting in sorrow?
Welcome to Tomorrow's World. The United States elected Donald Trump to be its President in a landslide victory. Many see Mr. Trump as a messiah figure, a savior of the country that has gone astray. What might we expect over the next four years? It would do us well to remember two biblical proverbs. A man's heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps. (Proverbs 16:9) Yes, a man may have his own agenda, but that is not always the way his future turns out. Often a leader is remembered not for what he planned, but for how he handled circumstances out of his control. This is further spelled out in Proverbs 19:21. There are many plans in a man's heart, Nevertheless the LORD's counsel—that will stand. (Proverbs 19:21) About 75 percent of Americans believed that the country is going in the wrong direction, and that was reflected in the outcome of the election. So what can American and citizens of this world expect for 2025 and the years following? Can we know? There are many prognosticators predicting what's ahead for the coming year and beyond. Some base their predictions on their understanding of geopolitics. Others look into crystal balls. Some claim a spook in the night revealed the future to them. And of course, there is Nostradamus, but a close look at his predictions, and that of other famous psychics, shows that they are vague and are more backward-looking interpretations by his fervent followers than true predictions. For example: Some enthusiasts say his mention of "the great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt" refers to the moon landing a significant milestone in human achievement.… People find it easy to understand humans reaching for the stars; therefore, fans love to talk about this. 5 predictions of Nostradamus that are believed to have come true Then there are wild interpretations of biblical scriptures. Yet, it is from this very source – the book known as the Bible – that we here at Tomorrow's World turn to know the future course of our world. Christmas morning. It's the highlight of the year for many children in the Western world. They leap out of bed to discover what Santa brought them this year. They bound down the stairs, eager with anticipation, imagining what new toys may be awaiting them. And then, they see them. Under the Christmas tree, there they are: neatly stacked presents covered in red and green wrapping, awaiting the children's discovery of what's inside. What could be more exciting than this yearly Christmas ritual? Everyone loves a surprise. And children all over the Western world look forward to this thrilling moment on Christmas Day: The long-awaited instant when the presents are opened. But does the Christmas-present opening ceremony live up to its billing? Do the presents really fulfill the wishes and dreams of those boys and girls? Or, after a few minutes or hours of playing with a new game or doll, does the newness wear off? Or, is the disappointment immediate, when an expected electronic game turns out to be pens or pencils? Sadly, all too often, the anticipation of the gift is greater than the real thing. Think about it, though. Isn't Christmas in general, sort of like a disappointing gift? It's bright, colorful, attractive, and beckoning. But when you open it up, what's inside? Is it what you hoped for? A cold hard fact of life is that the vast majority of humanity has lived and died without ever accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior--in fact, most of them without ever hearing His name spoken aloud. For many, this fact is more than a statistic, as they agonize with concerns about a dead loved one, unsure of their fate in the hereafter. Yet the true answer concerning the fate of the unsaved is far more joyous and hopeful than almost anyone understands! You need the hope of your Bible's answer to the question of where the unsaved go when they die!
Is Christianity dangerous? Even the question sounds absurd. After all, Christianity is about loving your neighbor, turning the other cheek, and showing mercy to your enemies. How could that be dangerous? And yet, in the last few years, there is a growing narrative that the western Christian traditions are not healthy for society. If you have lived more than a few decades, you've noticed this radical shift. And it has been shocking. After all, if Jesus taught mercy and love and consideration for our neighbors, how did Christianity turn into the enemy? According to this narrative, Christianity is not inclusive. Christianity is not compassionate. Christianity is not keeping up with the times, nor is it on the “right side of history.” The list goes on and on. And yet, Christian and biblical traditions have formed the backbone of much of Western civilization. So, what's going on? Cultural shifts don't happen overnight, and they don't happen in a vacuum. There are reasons for the dramatic changes we've seen in society. And there is a reason why hating Christianity has become the latest fad. So, what are we supposed to think of this trend? Why is it happening? And more importantly, what can we do? You might be surprised by the answers.
The Christian Bible holds the Guinness World Record of best-selling book in the world (“Best-selling book,” GuinessWorldRecords.com). Many homes in the Western world have at least one Bible on their bookshelves, and many of them have more than one. But how many people actually read them? And even of those who do, how many read BIBLE PROPHECY? Prophecy makes up a quarter of God's revealed word, yet for many it is the most neglected part of Scripture! My friends, we don't want you to fall into that trap! Because God wants you to dive into the prophecies He inspired to be recorded for you to understand.
It's human nature to desire to make your voice heard, and democracy in one form or another is ingrained in us from an early age. Some candidates are elected to keep the country out of war, yet often end up in war. Whether it's a country ruled by a king, a dictator, or an elected official, events outside of their control often define their rule. The United States is a Democratic Republic, where citizens cherish their voice in choosing their leaders. On November 19, 1863, former United States President Abraham Lincoln spoke these famous words in the aftermath of the American Civil War Battle at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom; and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth. Yes, government of the people, by the people, for the people is taken for granted as the way government should be, and although other nations may not use the same words, government by the people is in the hearts of many. But is there a better way? Not only IS there a better way, that better way is just around the corner.
Gerald Weston - TVCA1305 There is a popular myth that the second coming of Jesus Christ could happen at any time, even tonight. But this is a false doctrine that is contrary to scripture. A similar doctrine teaches that Christians will be whisked away to heaven in a sudden rapture as a way to escape the prophetic times ahead. How can so many be confused on this topic? What does the Bible really say?
Stuart Wachowicz - TVCA1308 During the height of World War 1, a remarkable announcement was made in London, which changed the course of history for the Jewish people. This Balfour Declaration served as an instrument of God, helping to ensure that there would be a Jewish state in the Middle East as the times of the end approach.
Jesus told His disciples, “You will not have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.” That's in Matthew 10:23. In other words, they had a mission. They were to preach the gospel to the cities of Israel. But where were those cities? Many assume He was talking about the cities of the Jews. And certainly, they did go to those cities in His day. But what about after His death and resurrection? Where did they go? The apostles took the Gospel message to the Israelites where they had been scattered after the Assyrian captivity of 721 BC. And ultimately, that same Gospel was taken to regions all over the known world. As Christ commanded. Notice what He said, in Matthew 28, verses 18–20: “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” So, the Gospel message was made available to Israelites and non-Israelites. But did you notice something? Jesus also said, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Did the preaching of the Gospel message stop with the death of the apostles? Or would it be preached in the time just before Christ's return? On today's program, let's answer that question. And at the same time, I want to give you a behind-the-scenes look at how Tomorrow's World is striving to fulfill that very mission. Life is wonderful when we are healthy and all is going well. Under such circumstances we want it to go on forever, but our bodies don't last. They break down and eventually, life in this flesh comes to an end. Then what? Many believe we have an immortal soul that immediately goes to heaven, or descends into a place of eternal torment. Ministers teach this to their congregations and parents teach this to their children. But is that what the Bible tells us about what happens when we die? There is no more important question than -- “When you die, then what?” Can you know? And where can you go for the answer? Science offers no answers. Philosophers speculate and disagree with one another. Some eastern religions teach reincarnation but have no proof. Only the Bible gives a credible answer, but it is not the one most think it is. The word “Armageddon” is often used to describe earth-destroying dangers. This March 2024 edition of Astronomy magazine features this cover Headline: “COSMIC CATASTROPHES, How the Universe threatens life on earth,” p. 18, “The Universe is a terrifying place, filled with existential threats. Earth may seem quite solid beneath our feet, but the continued existence of the thin layers of rock, water, and air that sustain us is in no way guaranteed. Errant asteroids, soaring superflares, and exploding supernovae are just a few of the calamities that might befall our fragile world. In the short term, we may be able to manage or mitigate some of these threats. Asteroids can be diverted and power grids hardened. But other apocalypses are inevitable as the solar system ages: a runaway Moon, Earth's collapsing magnetosphere, the Sun's flagging heart. Each one represents a countdown to a different apocalypse, with some more imminent than others” (“These are the ways our world will end,” Astronomy.com, March 1, 2024). Greetings, and welcome to Tomorrow's World, where we help you to make sense of your world through the pages of the Bible. We're glad you're here, and today's question is one of the most important questions you could ever ask: Is Jesus God? This question about Jesus is important. Estimates indicate around 2.4 billion people in the world claim Christianity as their religion—almost half-a-billion more than claim Islam and more than a billion more than claim Hinduism. Yet, even as almost one-third of the planet claims a religion centered on the person of Jesus Christ, many of those same people disagree on exactly who He really was. For some, even some claiming to be Christian, Jesus was simply a man—a Jewish teacher in the first century, who just happened to have an outsized impact on world culture. The late Shelby Spong, a bishop in the Episcopal Church, was quite famous for his stance that Jesus was not actually God, was not born from a virgin, and was never resurrected. Other religions claiming to be Christian teach different things about Jesus' divinity. Some teach that Jesus was a created being, like the angels. Some identify Him with the archangel Michael. Others claim that Jesus and the Devil were brothers in the past. And others, further, claim that Jesus and the Father are the very same person, and not two separate divine persons, at all. Outside of nominal Christianity, ideas vary, as well. Some religions consider Jesus to have been a holy man, or wise guru, or even a prophet, but not truly divine in the way God is divine. Others consider Him a manifestation of God, like an avatar, or some sort of ascended master in the manner of new age teachings. And then, there are those who don't think He ever existed—as if He were a figment of the imagination, or a fiction created in the first century to form the basis of a new religion. Perhaps we should tackle this question first, in the event some of you have been infected by this pernicious lie. There is abundant evidence that Jesus of Nazareth did, indeed, exist. Even if we treat the New Testament not as Scripture, but as a mere human product of history, just like Homer's Iliad or Caesar's commentaries, it provides abundant evidence that Jesus was a real person, going back to within two or three decades of His life. We even have a fragment from the gospel of John, the famous Rylands Library Papyrus P52, that dates back to within a handful of years after the Apostle John is believed to have written it. And, outside of the New Testament, a number of secular historical records refer to Jesus and the impact of His teachings and example in the first century. The contemporary Jewish historian Josephus, the Roman historian Tacitus, and Pliny the Younger all speak of Jesus Christ as a real person—much too early in the historical record for some imaginary account to have taken hold so profoundly. In fact, one of the most effective defenders of the very real existence of Jesus Christ is New Testament scholar Bart Ehrman. While Ehrman has publicly declared that he does not believe Jesus was divine, does not believe in the supernatural, and does not consider himself a Christian, he is just as clear that the evidence for Jesus' existence is overwhelming. Referring to those who claim Jesus' existence is just a myth, Ehrman writes, “It is fair to say that mythicists as a group, and as individuals, are not taken seriously by the vast majority of scholars in the field of New Testament, early Christianity, ancient history, and theology” (Did Jesus Exist? The Historical Argument for Jesus of Nazareth, 2012. p. 20). In fact, almost all scholars, secular and religious alike, tend to agree. As Ehrman summarizes, “Despite the enormous range of opinion, there are several points on which virtually all scholars of antiquity agree. Jesus was a Jewish man, known to be a preacher and teacher, who was crucified (a Roman form of execution) in Jerusalem during the reign of the Roman emperor Tiberius, when Pontius Pilate was the governor of Judea” (p. 12). In short, those who say that Jesus never existed should be taken as seriously as those who say the tooth fairy or Santa Claus do exist. Facts are facts. And the man Jesus of Nazareth did live and walk this earth around two thousand years ago in Judea, teaching around the Sea of Galilee and in Jerusalem. But is that where the story ends? A great teacher dies in His early thirties and just happens to have a religion founded in His name? Or was Jesus more than a man?
