In this episode of A Meaningful Mess, Andi McNair explores the concept of 'Big Talk' versus 'Small Talk' in educational settings. She emphasizes the importance of fostering deeper conversations in the classroom to enhance engagement and learning, particularly for gifted learners. The episode provides practical strategies for educators to encourage Big Talk, including the use of layered questions, Socratic seminars, and silent big talk. McNair advocates for creating a culture of curiosity and depth in conversations, ultimately aiming to transform classroom dynamics and student engagement.
The McNair family—Mark, Colin, and Ian—join host Katie Burke live from the DU Expo to share their unique journey in the world of decoys, waterfowl heritage, and family tradition. From Mark's start as a master carver to Colin's role in fine art auctions and Ian's work with High and Dry, the McNairs give listeners a rare look at how carving, conservation, and culture intertwine. They also highlight the new Canada Goose exhibition at the Waterfowling Heritage Center in Memphis, a must-see celebration of craftsmanship and history.Listen now: www.ducks.org/DUPodcastSend feedback: DUPodcast@ducks.org
Episode 210 of The Adventure Podcast features polar guide, explorer, and adventurer Sarah McNair-Landry. Growing up in Iqaluit on Baffin Island with parents who pioneered polar guiding, Sarah's childhood was shaped by dog sledding, camping, and life in the Arctic wilderness. In this episode, Matt and Sarah explore her journey from early expeditions to guiding at the North and South Poles, the unique challenges of dog sledding and kite skiing, and how she and her partner Boomer combine kayaking, climbing, and polar travel into bold multi-sport expeditions. They touch on themes of resilience, heritage, adventure for adventure's sake, and the delicate balance between tourism, culture, and conservation in the North. Sarah reflects on recreating her parents' legendary circumnavigation of Baffin Island, how growing up in an Inuit community shaped her, and why, despite the hardships, she continues to push further into remote landscapes. This is a story of family legacy, human endurance, and finding joy in the harshest environments on Earth. It's an episode that will make you want to pack your sled and chase the wind. For extra insights from the worlds of adventure, exploration and the natural world, you can find The Adventure Podcast+ community on Substack. Michael McNair: How Trump Administration Is Driving The Dollar Lower There has certainly been a lot of chaos in the financial markets since Trump started his second term. Even aside from the tariffs, we've seen the dollar index plummet in the time Trump's been in office, amidst numerous comments from Trump cabinet officials about how they feel the dollar is just too high. Meanwhile, as the tariff policies have frequently changed, while the commentary from the Trump team often leaves you feeling like you're getting less than the full story, fortunately, I have some good news. Because I've mentioned fund manager Michael McNair, who months ago wrote a thesis on the signs he's seeing that the Trump administration is already actively implementing Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors Stephen Miran's plan, that he laid out in his 41-page paper titled "Restructuring the Global Trading System." Which I might also add came out one month before Trump named him for the position of chairman. Fortunately, I was able to catch up with Michael, who then proceeded to give a master class on some of the intricacies of what's going on right now. Which with all due respect, I simply think you will not find anywhere else. So especially if you're not sure what to make of the first half year of Trump's second term, and want to know what the plan really is, and if it will ultimately be able to be successful, you will want to watch today's show!. - To find Michael McNair on twitter go to: https://x.com/michaeljmcnair To read Michael's most recent paper titled 'The Dollar Squeeze: How the Trump Administration Reversed Capital Flows Without Capital Controls,' go to: https://medium.com/@mcnai002/the-dollar-squeeze-how-the-trump-administration-reversed-capital-flows-without-capital-controls-d32e4e728a34 - Get access to Arcadia's Daily Gold and Silver updates here: https://goldandsilverdaily.substack.com/ - To get your very own 'Silver Chopper Ben' statue go to: https://arcadiaeconomics.com/chopper-ben-landing-page/ - Join our free email list to be notified when a new video comes out: click here: https://arcadiaeconomics.com/email-signup/ - Follow Arcadia Economics on twitter at: https://x.com/ArcadiaEconomic - To get your copy of 'The Big Silver Short' (paperback or audio) go to: https://arcadiaeconomics.com/thebigsilvershort/ - Thank you for watching!
