Cowboy, Dougy Fresh, and Paulie Gee(e's are silent) are back one again to graciously cover this amazing two-day music festival and benefit. The event that started back in 2004 for one very special girl is now bringing families and friends from across America and beyond for a weekend of celebration and to bring awareness and more support for those affected by 4p-, also known as Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome (WHS), an extremely rare chromosome disorder. As always, the Pigs bring their own brand of silly, laid back fun to cover Kammy's Kause, without forgetting the heartfelt reason why they are there. Helping to co-host the event is the beautiful Sara Bishop and the Pigs' personal bodyguard, Griswold Stout. Tune in to Part One as they are joined by numerous band members and friends who come out each year to play music and give their time throughout the year to support Kammy and the 4p- Support Group. A big thanks for those who jumped on a mic to talk about why this event is so special to them as well as what's going on with their respective bands, Mr. Zach Garner, Chris Sarber and David Charles Bailey of Pinky and The Basterds, and Ben Jarvis of Audiodacity. The boys had a great time, once again, being part of the Kammy's Kause family and talking to friends and supporters and they give a shout out and request to their fans in Lebanon. Be sure to stay tuned for the release of Part Two when they are joined by more band members and the very busy, father and Kammy's Kause founder, Mr. Jared Hiner. We had the special pleasure of being invited to coved Kammy's Kause this year on it's opening night. We couldn't have been more humbled being part of this incredibly annual two day live music event for such a great cause. We had a blast from moment we stepped into the American Legion park and it just kept getting better as the afternoon and evening flew by, much to quickly. Ben Jarvis of Audiodacity has a brew with the boys before going on stage and tells a little about the work they have going on with their upcoming 2nd album. The man who can be miserable in any situation(yet has impeccable hygiene), Ryan M. Brewer jumps on board and things go from weird to He Man and Captain Planet talk. Of course we had to have the man who put this all together, Mr. Jared Hiner, for his beautiful daughter, Kammy. We couldn't believe how calm and cool this cat could be with so much going on around us, but he has so much support from family, friends, and musicians in and around Indy, he can now enjoy this amazing event he's built. And we round out the show with our new friends from 800lb Gorilla after their amazing set. They give some backstory on who they are and we talk about their upcoming album, Commander Wax. They let use a couple of their tunes to kick off and end this episode, so be sure crank it up and join us at their album release party on October 13th at the Fountain Square Brewing Co. Lots of great conversation and some great beers were destroyed over the afternoon including some splendid brews from Central State Brewing, Flix Brewhouse(who also sponsored Kammy's Kause), and Taxman Brewing Company. Tune in! Cheers!! Shout outs in this episode include: Hop Your Face; 18th Street Brewery; Whoa!Tiger; Brother O' Brother; Chris Burch, and Ben Cannon
In the intro, Tim talks hosting visitors, The Empty Bottle, and music. Ben Clark (singer/songwriter, composer for musicals The Circus In Winter and Skin And Bones) is today's guest! The late-night conversation starts right off with how Ben and Ryan M. Brewer (Episode 4) almost killed a guy hours before. After that, Tim and Ben discuss sports, Ben's music, field recording, musical theatre, Chicago, music as an emotional and mental outlet, depression, food, temping, cockroaches, dreams, ghosts, the Tao Te Ching by Lao-Tzu and more! Tim also plays some of Ben's tracks throughout the episode. In the outro, Tim talks Domino's Pizza and clears the air regarding a mistake he made in a previous episode that affected his girlfriend. This week Tim talks about his love of jerky, the Rolling Stones, the holidays and the new Mouth to Mouth w/Tim Spotify Playlist. This week's guest is independent musician/singer/songwriter Ryan M. Brewer. Tim and Ryan have a laid-back late-nite chat about performing, making a record, what makes a good or bad gig, influences, constructing a stage persona, life on the road, how to book a tour, crashing on stranger's couches, songwriting, favorite cities, favorite venues, upstairs neighbors, food, dreams, paranormal experiences, irrational fears, bad dates, Fabio and coconut milk. It is nice to see that the recent downturn in employment/hobby funding, for those of you keeping tabs on the off-mic version of my life, has not affected podcast downloads. Nor has it affected the enthusiasm of our local scene. In fact, within about an hour of announcing that we were shuttering the doors temporarily, I had offers from three different groups to finance the station on an ongoing basis. While this is much appreciated, the actual issue is not so much the cost of the station, but the principle that I can't very well take money for a radio station while food, utilities, and the mortgage aren't completely covered. I did finally secure a bit of contract employment this week, which means that we'll soon be getting Indy In-Tune Radio back on the air, using a new provider. This means no more crummy ads, pop-ups, or special apps required, and I get to load up as big of a playlist as I like, instead of being limited to a mere gigabyte of music at a time. Stay tuned, this one is raising the bar a bit. For those of you who did offer to support Indy In-Tune financially, please maintain this enthusiasm, as I will be starting up an ad network in the next couple of months that I plan to use to self-fund Indy In-Tune for the first time, and hopefully expand our live offerings with the ability to actually pay musicians for their effort. In addition to being supremely talented and very entertaining, Ryan Brewer is one of those solid, reliable guys that it's always good to have on your speed dial. Not only did he agree to do a fill in spot on our very first Monday Night Live on given less than an hour's notice, but he also, possibly jinxed by my joking about it during this show, ended up playing Indy In-Tune's , once again at the last minute, immediately following Black Market Binary. In both cases, he completely won over crowds of people that, since it was a last-minute thing, didn't include very many of his regular fans, and who were quite frankly expecting to see someone else. In fact, in both cases, I had someone come up to me and claim his performance was the best part of the lineup. No small praise there. I know he doesn't believe me, but I really did, in both instances, have plans to book him on future dates for both of those series.Incidentally, I don't think he sounds a thing like Guns and Roses. I think he sounds like a young Peter Frampton.Links referenced in the show: Ryan M. Brewer can be found here: | | | . Ryan was originally the primary songwriter for Shameless Self Promotion and . Ah, a brand new year and some brand new music to kick it off right. This is not to say that I don't enjoy the "... Returns" shows, but it really is nice to get some new blood on the show again, since that's what we're about here. Ryan M. Brewer is a recurring face and voice at the where I often scout for guests, since it's often difficult to meet and talk to bands at the bigger venes, especially while the next band is playing. I first came across Ryan about a year and a half ago when I heard this band called The Fallow and tried get them on the show. Two weeks ago a friend of mine recommended I check out Ryan's music, at which point I purchased a digital copy of his upcoming CD, and asked if he would be interested in sharing some of the tracks with us on a podcast. At the time, I was unaware that it was, in fact the same guy. It was an honest mistake, it turns out. Ryan M. Brewer shares many things in common with the other successful singer/songwriters we've showcased. He's hard working, prolific, struggling to get his voice heard, and diligently searching for the magic formula that turns locally successful indie musicians into James Taylors and Neil Youngs -- don't worry, if we knew what it was, we would tell you. What differentiates Ryan to me is the amazing diversity. On his debut solo effort, his music, voice, and playing not only take a 180-degree turn from his hard rock/southern rock work in The Fallow (some of which we play in order to showcase this phase of his musical output), but it also fan out effortlessly into an array of styles including music with a country-ish swing (Allegory), "lush" ballads (Sing You to Sleep), indie-infused folk (Innocence and Ignorance), and even spoken word (Like Robert Redford). In the end, the listener is left with only two questions: What CAN'T this guy do with his songs, and WHY isn't there more spoken word music being made?! Links referenced in the show: Ryan M.
