Have you ever looked at your marriage and quietly thought… "This isn't what I thought it would feel like…" …and then immediately felt guilty for even thinking it? In this deeply personal episode of The Dare Greatly Podcast, Danielle opens up about the quiet grief many women carry inside their marriages — especially when the man they love is struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, career pressure, health challenges, or emotional disconnection. After her husband survived a massive stroke during the stress and uncertainty of 2020, Danielle found herself grieving something she didn't have language for: How do you grieve the loss of a version of someone… when they're still sitting right in front of you? This episode is an honest conversation about: • grieving unmet expectations in marriage • the emotional weight women quietly carry • why unprocessed grief turns into resentment and exhaustion • learning to support your husband without losing yourself • how to hold both love and disappointment at the same time • simple healing practices that help you move through grief with compassion instead of shame Danielle also shares the story behind her free Quiet Strength Women's Support Group — a space created for women who are trying to stay grounded, faithful, compassionate, and emotionally healthy while navigating difficult seasons in marriage and family life. This episode is not about blaming husbands. And it's not about pretending everything is okay. It's about learning that: You can deeply love your husband… and still grieve what has changed. You can feel disappointed… and still feel grateful. You can carry sadness… without believing your marriage is broken. Some women carry strength like thunder. And some carry it like a candle. Quiet. Steady. Faithful. If you've been carrying something heavy in silence, this episode will help you feel seen, understood, and a little less alone.

SKY CIRCLE:I don't know about you, but I really miss working in groups rather than in isolation, and as such, I've recently ended the current format of my energy report subscriptions and am opening up SKY CIRCLE. The roots of my sharing astrology and healing come from the many moon circles I used to facilitate, beginning in 2013. These were held spaces where I discussed the astrology, but we also got a chance to share with each other and be together. I used to love seeing how everyone who was called to join in was interconnected. Sky Circle aims to recreate this intimate and life-affirming dynamic. All being well, meaning if there are enough people to participate, I will be starting Sky Circle in June. We will meet online via Zoom twice a month on Sunday. These 1.5-2 hour online sessions will include the following: Discussion of main astrology transits coming in, full/new moon themes & intentionsBi-weekly transit notes PDF (similar to my former Energy Report format)Personal sharing & community support, including personal astrology insightsGuided meditation & grounding for the energies Video replay access My intention is for this to be an interactive and facilitated space, not just a lecture. Members can submit any questions in advance regarding personal astrology (or anything healing related), which will be discussed in the group. Sky Circle will be facilitated in 3-month-at-a-time containers. The pricing is £180/$240 total for the 3 months. We focus on how grief can intensify anxiety and panic, and we discuss ways to stay supported during this time.We explain that grief is individual and does not follow a fixed timeline. We note that people may grieve differently depending on the relationship, the type of loss, and their own resilience. We also say that grief can apply to many kinds of losses, not only death. We then describe common grief reactions, including shock, numbness, anger, sadness, fear, and anxiety. We mention that physical symptoms can include insomnia, fatigue, and changes in appetite, and we encourage listeners to notice these responses without judging them.We offer practical ways to cope, including meditation, short stress breaks, music, aromatherapy, prayer, and other calming rituals. We also encourage maintaining social support, reaching out to others when needed, and paying attention to sleep, exercise, food, and rest.We close by encouraging journaling, doodling, crying, and other forms of emotional release. Her faith, compassion, understanding, dedication and display of radical love has truly been life-changing for me. I was so overwhelmed with feelings of confusion, guilt, and sadness. I felt lost and didn't know how to navigate through the emotional turmoil I was experiencing. However, from the very first call, Jenny created a safe and non-judgmental space for me to share my details. Her ability to listen attentively and empathize while helping me understand a different way of thinking is truly remarkable. Hello and welcome to Season 8, Episode 9 of YXE Underground. I'm Eric Anderson, and welcome to OUT Saskatoon's Newcomer Support Group. It is a snowy, bitterly cold Thursday night in April, but in the OUT Saskatoon's headquarters, their main gathering space is packed with people from across the world. This support group started last May and offers LGBTQ newcomers and refugees a safe space to not only learn about Saskatoon and Canada, but as you will hear in this episode, the group is providing community and friendship to those who come.  Once a month, Iris Akbar welcomes people to the group and leads them through different topics and activities. It could be an art activity or a discussion on how best to survive a Saskatchewan winter. On this night, Iris has invited two-Spirit Elder Shelley Belhumeur, to speak and share about Indigenous knowledge and history.  Shelley begins the night by asking people to introduce themselves and share where they are from. Most people in the room are from African nations such as Nigeria and Ghana.  The person behind this Newcomer Support Group is Iris Akbar. Iris, who uses he/she pronouns, immigrated to Saskatchewan with his partner from Singapore; a country where same-sex marriage and civil unions are not recognized.  Iris started working at OUT Saskatoon in 2019 and was passionate about helping LGBTQ newcomers and refugees get the supports they needed in our city. He was about to start a Newcomer Support Group when the Covid-19 pandemic hit and put that on hold.  When the pandemic ended, Iris continued to help helping newcomers and refugees at OUT Saskatoon in a volunteer capacity; not only in terms of finding supports in Saskatoon, but to make connections and friendships in the community. Iris started the Newcomer Support Group in May of 2025. As you will hear, what started as a small gathering has now grown into a vibrant collection of people who are eager to learn about their new home and make meaningful connections.  The episode features a conversation I had with Iris a few weeks after I met him at the Newcomer Support Group. We met at Tastebuds Café on Lorne Avenue on a beautiful sunny day; so nice in fact we sat out on the patio! You will also meet people who were at the Newcomer Support Group that chilly April evening and hear why this group means so much to them.  If you want to learn more about the important work being done at OUT Saskatoon, please visit their website at outsaskatoon.ca If you have enjoyed this episode and are a fan of the podcast, please feel free to leave a glowing 5-star review and share it with your friends. Word of mouth is, I think, the best way to share podcasts, and so I really do appreciate your support in spreading the word about YXE Underground. Supplements aren't the solution… but they can be part of it. The problem is, no one's really explaining how.In this episode, Gina Livy is joined by naturopathic doctor Dr. Paul Hrkal to break down what actually matters in the world of supplements, and why it all feels so overwhelming. Between trends, influencers, and “miracle” products, it's easy to lose sight of what your body actually needs. They talk foundational supplements as support, not quick fixes, and cut through the noise on what's worth your time and what's just hype. The bottom line? Most supplements are filling gaps created by modern life. It's not about chasing the next best thing. It's about giving your body what it needs to do its job. If you've ever wondered what to take, or why nothing seems to work on its own… this one will give some clarity.Where to find Dr. Paul:Instagram: @drpaulhrkalwww.paulhrkalnd.com If you are in the Spring 2026 Support Group, you can check out the full video here:https://www.facebook.com/groups/livymethodspring2026To learn more about The Livy Method, visit livymethod.com. Supporting Military Families Through Pregnancy and Postpartum Mental Health (Ep. 475)

In May, which is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month, I'll be releasing weekly episodes. In June, we will celebrate 10 full years of the Mom & Mind Podcast–480 episodes of personal stories, expert interviews, paths to healing, and a multitude of ways to know you're not alone in experiencing difficulties in fertility, loss, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Join us to hear today's guest share her focus on perinatal mental health for military families.  Patience Riley is a perinatal mental health specialist who bridges the gap between clinical expertise and somatic wellness. With 14 years of experience as a licensed professional counselor, Patience offers a multifaceted approach to healing by integrating her roles as a therapist, RETAIN Parental Leave Coach, and 200-HR Registered Yoga Teacher specializing in prenatal care. Patience's career is defined by her work in high-impact settings, including psychiatric hospitals, crisis intervention, and military installations. As a military spouse, she brings a deeply personal understanding of the unique challenges facing service members and their families. Patience channels this dedication into her roles on the PSI Georgia Board and PSI Military Task Force, working to ensure every family, military and civilian alike, has access to the specialized support they deserve. In her private practice, Patience primarily supports clients during the perinatal period through individual therapy, yoga, and mental wellness workshops in her community. A popular keynote speaker, she serves in various leadership positions and has been featured in multiple media outlets. Outside of work, Patience is a creative, a foodie, and a “plant mom” who loves a good festival. She loves doing life with her college sweetheart and their two sons.  Show Highlights: Patience's work in private practice with perinatal mental health and yoga Mental health seems scary, but yoga is a gateway to deeper mind-and-body healing. The stigma of seeking mental health help extends to military spouses. “Mission ready” and “service first” mentalities keep service members from seeking help. A “no records/no notes” approach encourages military members to access the mental health services available to them. Common barriers to access to mental health services for service members and their families Parental leave policies for military members include birth, loss, and adoption. Patience's story of motherhood with two sons: multiple moves, COVID, her husband's deployment, no local support system/community, and anger/rage Feeling the need to filter everything, especially negative feelings about the military Patience's key message to military families: “Support is out there, it is available, and you deserve it.”  Resources:  Connect with Patience Riley  Website, Facebook, Instagram,  Additional Resources Military OneSource Counseling, PSI Military Resources and Support Group, Telemynd Virtual Mental Health Care, MMHLA Fact Sheet, and Military Reach (accessible and practical research for military families) Call the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-TLC-MAMA or visitcdph.ca.gov. In this episode, Host Rob Spee sits down with survivor and holistic healer Deanna Scaldaferri, whose twenty‑year relationship with a narcissist nearly cost her her voice, her safety, and her sense of self. Deanna opens the door on what these relationships really look like — the early love bombing, the charm that fools everyone else, the private chaos, and the slow erosion of identity that keeps victims trapped. She breaks down the patterns that made her vulnerable, the fear and trauma bonding that kept her in place, and the physical toll of living in constant threat. What follows is a conversation about truth, courage, the breaking point and the long road back to the light. Deanna shares the faith that saved her and the tools that rebuilt her life — therapy, meditation, brain rewiring, and return to God after profound trauma. Today she's using her story to help others name what's happening, break the cycle, and reclaim their God‑given light. You can find Deanna at https://www.healinghandsbydeanna.com/ Key Takeaways Name the cycle so you stop doubting yourself. Love bombing, mask‑slipping, gaslighting, inconsistencies, control — once you understand the pattern, your intuition comes back online. People‑pleasing is not peacekeeping. The "keep the peace" reflex is often the doorway to losing your voice. Reclaiming boundaries is the first step toward reclaiming identity. Charm in public doesn't erase abuse in private. Narcissists curate a persona. Survivors need outside support — therapy, trusted friends, and professionals who understand the dynamic. Your body tells the truth before your mind can. Panic attacks, chest tightness, hypervigilance — these aren't overreactions. They're signals that your system is overwhelmed and unsafe. Healing requires all of you — mind, body, and spirit. Faith, breathwork, movement, somatic therapy, massage, reiki, and intentional "rewiring" help break trauma loops and rebuild confidence. Leaning into God is a turning point, not a last resort. Deanna's story shows how faith can anchor you, and even save you, when grief, loss, and trauma collide. You can leave the victim mindset behind. Healing isn't about pretending it didn't happen — it's about choosing who you become next. Join the Journey If this conversation resonates, subscribe for more stories of grit, adventure, and faith — and share it with someone who needs strength today. Do support groups actually help, or do they reinforce the very mindset that keeps parents stuck? In this episode, I sit down with Sara Intonato to unpack this difficult question. Both of us (and probably you) have lived the same reality: Hypervigilance, burnout,  the constant demand of raising a non-speaking child. When we went looking for help, what we found in traditional support spaces was not growth or even help.  Unfortunately we found: cycles of venting without direction low expectations presented as acceptance and a normalization of hopelessness This is a hard but beautiful conversation, that digs deep and lets us find out what really helps.  We talk about: A simple 1-minute regulation tool you can use in crisis The HALT framework (Hungry, Angry/Anxious, Lonely, Tired) How to think about self-care when even 5 minutes feels impossible Sara introduces a different model: community with leadership, structure, and high expectations. Effort is great, but our kids need our regulated presence more! If you've ever felt unsupported in "support" spaces, listen to this episode now.  Links: Find more about Sara here. They talk candidly about what the public doesn't see: the whiplash of going from an infant death to a “noise complaint,” the personal weight of responding to one of your own in crisis, and how lack of debriefing and ongoing training can quietly erode an officer's wellness over time. They also open up about marriage inside the first responder life—how “investigative mode” can follow you home, why trust and communication have to be intentional, and why friendships outside the job can be the thing that keeps you grounded. The episode closes with the practical work they're doing now through their peer support community, the Blonde in Blue Network—creating a space where first responders (and families) can show up honestly, without fear of it coming back to their department.
