The Embodied Movement Summit is going live this month, January 24-28, and today on the podcast we are joined by one of the keynote speakers of this amazing event, our good friend Sebastien Foucan! If you'd like to check out his presentation, or any of the 27+ others we have lined up from top professionals in the fields of Movement, Mindfulness, Community and Nature Connection, hit the link to get signed up! https://summit.evolvemoveplay.com/yt For those of you who are unfamiliar, Seb was among the pioneers of parkour in Paris in the 1980s. He was an introverted and unconfident child but liked to go out and explore the environment close to where he lived. As a teenager who struggled at school and had difficulties at home, climbing, jumping, running, playing and interacting with the landscape became an escape for him and his friends. He then developed a love for natural movement. The passion and dedication for his craft led him to be invited to participate in several high profile performance roles with James Bond in Casino Royale, Madonna, Nike and K-swiss amongst others. Today we're talking about three of our biggest shared passions: Parkour, Martial Arts and Play. These things have shaped both of our lives to such a magnitude that we could probably devote an entire season to the topics and still just scratch the surface. I had a wonderful time talking with Seb, and we will definitely have him on the show again in the future, so if you also enjoyed the conversation, leave a like, comment, and subscribe if you haven't yet. And again, don't miss out on the Embodied Movement Summit where you can catch Sebastiens talk “Playfulness for Longevity and Vitality”. During his presentation you'll discover how you can reconnect with your sense of play to engage in a sustainable and rewarding practice, find out how to free yourself from fear and anxiety, and key into your body's innate, seasonal rhythms so you can adapt your practice and be your best self every day. And that's just one of the 27+ presentations you get access to by signing up. Here are a few more you won't want to miss: John Vervaeke | “Why we need Movement and Mindfulness to Recover Lost Ways of Knowing and Solve the Meaning Crisis” Kelly Starret | “Discover the Fundamental Tools for Management of Pain and Tissue Quality” Nick Winkelman | “Understand the Power of Language in Coaching and Athletics” Marlo Fisken | “Give Yourself Permission to Express and Serve Your Community Through Expression” Want to jump in or learn more? In this week's episode I speak to a true innovator, pioneer and superstar of human movement – Sebastien Foucan. Sebastien was one of the founding developers of the discipline of parcours and later Sebastien stretched his practice to develop free-running – creative, acrobatic, exploratory, jumping, vaulting, rolling, climbing and interacting with obstacles and environments. Sebastien was also Bond baddy, delivering his art form on the big screen in a breath taking chase sequence with Daniel Craig at the start of Casino Royale! Sebastien has starred in Madonna video and toured with her. In this interview we discuss Sebastien's early athleticism, the origins of parcours, the split to free-running, the assessment of risk against knowledge of his own physical capabilities, the founding philosophies and links to Bruce Lee's doctrines and the demands of getting it right on stage and screen. We also find out who was the harder taskmaster Madonna or Bond! I've been in awe of Sebastien for many years and it was a compelling, deep yet fun conversation to have. Show notes Early origins of Sebastien's athletic ability Creation of parkour and the split with free running The philosophical nature of three running and the links with Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do  Evaluating risk and understanding of personal physical abilities when performing free running Importance of practice Feeling flow, in the zone, the importance of the environment Delivering free running on the big screen in James Bond Casino Royale movie The demands of touring with Madonna Sustaining performance as Sebastien gets older Mentoring others and being the Obi-Wan Kenobi of free running   Links https://twitter.com/SebastienFoucan https://www.foucan.com/   Supporting Champions on Twitter www.twitter.com/support_champs Steve Ingham on Twitter www.twitter.com/ingham_steve Supporting Champions on Linkedin, www.linkedin.com/company/supporting-champions Instagram https://www.instagram.com/supportingchampions/ A reminder if you're keen to pre-register for the next wave of Graduate Membership enrolments then you can do so at https://supportingchampions.co.uk/membership/ If you're looking for some coaching support or some virtual team development help to support you to get to the next level in work, life or sport then take a look at https://supportingchampions.co.uk/coaching-mentoring/ or drop us a note at enquiries@supportingchampions.co.uk then you can sign up for a free consultation to explore which package is right for you.

In the 1980s, a group of French teenagers created a sport with no equipment, no coaches and no rules. Called Parkour, the idea is to convert your local town into an obstacle course by jumping across rooftops, vaulting walls and hanging off ledges. Parkour is now so popular that it has featured in a Madonna video and a James Bond film. Claire Bowes talks to one of Parkour's founders, Sebastien Foucan.
