Now is still a time to stay vigilant. Especially when it comes to national security. Ukraine says that Russia has amassed 100,000 troops near their border. Along with tanks, armored personnel vehicles and artillery. NATO has issued a warning. America has issued a warning. And Russia is denying they plan to invade Ukraine. War is very possible. And you were probably focused instead on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers lying about being vaccinated. Or maybe, understandably, you were focused on getting your kid a COVID shot or getting yourself a booster. But while you and most of America are focused on all that, the Secretary of Defense, and many others tasked with protecting America have their eyes on Russia. They always have their eyes on Russia. And on North Korea. And on Pakistan. And on China. And on five other countries across the globe. Because of one simple reason: they have nukes. Nine countries in the world possess nuclear weapons capable of destroying the entire globe. And one of them is Russia. And maybe you forgot about that completely until you read this. Nuke are THE number one threat to the entire world as we know it. Yeah, pandemics can be globe-killers. And of course, climate change is stripping and burning the world bit by bit. But only nukes could destroy the entire world as we know it in a matter of hours. And THAT is worth your focus. And your attention. And your vigilance. And it's the focus of the newest episode of the groundbreaking television mini-series on Vice TV, While The Rest of Us Die. Our host, Paul Rieckhoff, is Consulting Producer and a Contributor. And he and Righteous Media are bringing you this powerful, urgent Season #2 of the series every Thursday this month at 10PM. Produced by Efran Films, Showrunner Anthony Lappé, and narrated by our friend and past guest on this show, Jeffrey Wright, the series is tearing into the scariest, most deadly, most urgent issues facing us all. And in the newest episode, we're talking nukes. And it features one of the best minds in the world on the issue--and our guest in this pod--Joe Cirincione (@Cirincione). Joe has worked on nuclear weapons policy in Washington for more than 35 years and is one of the top experts in the field. He was the Director for Non-Proliferation at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and author of Deadly Arsenals: Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Threats, and co-author of Universal Compliance: A Strategy for Nuclear Security. He was the president of Ploughshares Fund, a global security foundation. And now teaches at the Georgetown University Graduate School of Foreign Service. He's one of America's best known weapons experts, appearing frequently in print and on FOX News, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, PBS, NPR and occasionally on Comedy Central. He joins us to drop knowledge bombs about nukes. And it's an episode you don't want to miss. Hit play now. Once in a while, an actor will emerge from the pack and be all of a sudden, everywhere. For those in similar viewing circles to The Guys (which may be a circle of three), that actor is currently Jeffrey Wright. Not only is he crossing comic universes with roles in both DC and Marvel creations, he's also crossing from a voice on a scripted podcast to an animated character. He's at home in the world of James Bond as well as Dr. Seuss. He's not made his way into a Star Wars film just yet, but the Force is definitely with him. Before the break, Robbie shares what Hideaki Anno is up to these days, Jay talks another DC trailer for a sequel bound to amaze us in 2023, and Art Dogg tries to convince us that his brother Snoop has somehow fo shizzled his way into a Storm Trooper uniform.

Editor - Andrew Weisblum ACE THE FRENCH DISPATCH editor, Andrew Weisblum ACE joins forces for the fifth time with director Wes Anderson. Andy's history with Wes began with THE DARJEELING LIMITED (2007) and was followed up by FANTASTIC MR. FOX (2009), MOONRISE KINGDOM (2012) and ISLE OF DOGS (2018). THE FRENCH DISPATCH was written, directed, and produced by Wes Anderson and stars an ensemble cast featuring Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Jeffrey Wright, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson and many more talented actors. It tells the tale of the French foreign bureau of a fictional Kansas newspaper, compelled to create its final issue when Arthur Howitzer Jr., the editor of the newspaper, dies suddenly of a heart attack. According to the wishes expressed in his will, publication of the newspaper will be suspended following one final farewell issue in which three articles from past editions of the paper are republished, along with his obituary. The project was first mentioned in August 2018 as an untitled musical set after World War II. That December, the film was officially announced with Anderson calling it a "love letter to journalists." Filming took place between November 2018 and March 2019. Following a year delay, THE FRENCH DISPATCH had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on July 12, 2021 and was theatrically released in the United States by Searchlight Pictures on October 22, 2021. ANDREW WEISBLUM ACE Aside from his rich body of work with Wes Anderson, Andy is also a frequent collaborator with director Darren Aronofsky. In addition to his Oscar®-nominated work on Aronofsky's BLACK SWAN (2010), Andy also collaborated with him on THE FOUNTAIN (2006), BROKEN ENGLISH (2007), THE WRESTLER (2008), NOAH (2014) and MOTHER! (2017). The two are currently at work on Aronofsky's next film, THE WHALE. Stephen Park of the new Wes Anderson film The French Dispatch drops by to discuss his love of cooking shows, performative casting, and being a pioneer for Asian representation in Anderson films. More about The French Dispatch: On the occasion of the death of its beloved Kansas-born editor Arthur Howitzer, Jr., the staff of The French Dispatch, a widely circulated American magazine based in the French city of Ennui-sur-Blasé, convenes to write his obituary. Memories of Howitzer flow into the creation of four stories: a travelogue of the seediest sections of the city itself from The Cycling Reporter; “The Concrete Masterpiece,” about a criminally insane painter, his guard and muse, and his ravenous dealers; “Revisions to a Manifesto,” a chronicle of love and death on the barricades at the height of student revolt; and “The Private Dining Room of the Police Commissioner,” a suspenseful tale of drugs, kidnapping and fine dining. Starring Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothee Chalamet, Jeffrey Wright, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Liev Schreiber, Elisabeth Moss, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Saoirse Ronan, Christoph Waltz, Jason Schwartzman, Tony Revolori, Rupert Friend, Henry Winkler, Bob Balaban, Stephen Park, and Anjelica Houston. This is my review of The French Dispatch. First half is spoiler free, second half gets into spoilers (with a fair warning beforehand). The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun is a 2021 American comedy-drama anthology film written, directed, and produced by Wes Anderson from a story he conceived with Roman Coppola, Hugo Guinness, and Jason Schwartzman. The film stars an ensemble cast featuring Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Lyna Khoudri, Jeffrey Wright, Mathieu Amalric, Stephen Park, Bill Murray, and Owen Wilson. Its plot follows three different storylines as the French foreign bureau of a fictional Kansas newspaper creates its final issue. Additional cast members in The French Dispatch include Liev Schreiber, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Saoirse Ronan, Elisabeth Moss, Jason Schwartzman, and Anjelica Huston. The project was first mentioned in August 2018 as an untitled musical set after World War II. That December, the film was officially announced, with Anderson calling it a "love letter to journalists." Filming took place between November 2018 and March 2019, with cinematographer Robert Yeoman, in the city of Angoulême, France. During post-production, editing was completed by Andrew Weisblum and the musical score was composed by Alexandre Desplat. Listen to my thoughts and afterward, please share your opinions or questions. In this episode, Wellington is joined by Trenton Morales, a good friend of the show, to review No Time to Die, the 2021 spy film and the twenty-fifth in the James Bond series directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. Starring Daniel Craig, Rami Malek, Lea Seydoux and Lashana Lynch, they dive into how this film was a proper finalization of Daniel Craig's role, how this particular Bond always contained the most depth over his 5 films and Jeffrey Wright's impactful and pivotal character in Felix. Finally, they rank their favorite Bond actors, how Skyfall may be the best Bond film ever and how aspects of No Time to Die revealed a more human side of Bond.
Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch is a love letter to classic French cinema and The New Yorker magazine. Like all of his films, it's highly stylized — this one adopts the format of a magazine. It's an anthology of sorts, featuring three different main stories. The film's actors Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Benicio del Toro, Timothée Chalamet, and Jeffrey Wright.
In his infinite wisdom, the Watcher chooses Captain Peggy Carter, Star-Lord T'Challa, Killmonger, Gamora, and Thor. Natasha Romanoff also joins them in the fight against Ultron. The team is eventually able to separate the Infinity Stones from Ultron's body, but Gamora's Infinity Crusher fails to defeat the android. But Black Widow and Captain Carter save the day by uploading Armin Zola's programming into Ultron's body. Zola destroys Ultron, but takes over his armor and the Infinity Stones. Killmonger attempts to steal the armor and stones for himself, but Strange sacrifices his life to hold Zola and Killmonger at bay in a pocket dimension. The Watcher then returns the team to each of their universes and timelines, with Natasha joining a universe in which Black Widow had died. In the mid-credits scene, Black Widow reveals to Captain Carter that Steve Rogers has been found alive inside the long-lost HYDRA Stomper. This episode stars Jeffrey Wright, Lake Bell, Hayley Atwell, Mick Wingert, Frank Grillo, Georges St. Pierre, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Michael B. Jordan, Chadwick Boseman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Toby Jones, Kurt Russell, and Tom Hiddleston. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Disney Studios chairman Alan Bergman added: “I'm very pleased that we have been able to come to a mutual agreement with Scarlett Johansson regarding Black Widow. We appreciate her contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and look forward to working together on a number of upcoming projects, including Disney's Tower of Terror.” “I am happy to have resolved our differences with Disney,” said Johansson in a statement released Thursday. “I'm incredibly proud of the work we've done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in years to come.” Disney+ The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Involves a Major New MCU Character James Gunn @JamesGunn In my incredibly subjective & admittedly often odd opinion, we'll be introducing one of the greatest MCU characters of all time. #GotGHolidaySpecial https://twitter.com/JamesGunn/status/1444366802411270159 https://www.cbr.com/guardians-of-the-galaxy-holiday-special-new-mcu-character/ The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is a new in-canon adventure that shows the Guardians during the holiday season. Director James Gunn, who helmed the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films, will be returning for the roughly 40-minute short, which he says will be required viewing for fans of the franchise. Now, Gunn has expanded on his promotion for the special to reveal that it will also be "introducing one of the greatest MCU characters of all time." Before the Guardians of the Galaxy take back the spotlight in their special, they'll be tagging along in Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder. The film is expected to come out on May 6, 2022 and features the remaining Guardians as supporting characters, with Gunn communicating with Waititi to ensure that the characters were handled consistently ahead of their next big screen outing. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special arrives on Disney+ in 2022, while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters May 23, 2023. Inside Marvel's ‘What If…?' Finale, Season 2 Plans and the T'Challa Spinoff That Never Was https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/marvel-what-if-season-1-finale-tchalla-spin-off-chadwick-boseman-1235082366/ “There was planning to have Star Lord T'Challa spin off into his own show,” [Driector Bryan] Andrews tells Variety. “We were all very excited. We know [Chadwick] would have loved it, too.” There's also a brief moment in the finale where we meet an alternate version of Gamora with a sort of space Tony Stark. Will we get to see more of that universe in Season 2? Bradley: That's a definite yes. Basically what happened was we originally had an episode planned for earlier in the season that was a fun, light-hearted, living, breathing Tony Stark-centric episode with Gamora. However, due to the COVID pandemic, one of our animation houses was hit incredibly hard, and the episode needed to be pushed into Season 2, because it would not be finished in time. Given everything that we've all went through over the past two years, pushing an episode of television is absolutely nothing in comparison. And we understood. We hope fans enjoy the ride next year. (2 Part Story) Marvel's What If...? team promises 'resolution' in season finale and teases season 2 https://ew.com/tv/marvels-what-if-season-1-finale-ac-bradley-bryan-andrews/ ...At least we know season 2 is coming since Bradley says that all the episodes of next season have already been written. "Going into the second season, we're sticking with anthology form, and it's going to be all-new stories, lots of fun, new heroes, and pulling more from Phase Four than we were obviously able to this season," she says. "Hopefully, we'll see hints of Eternals and Shang-Chi and the Black Widow characters. The fun of What If...? is that we get to explore the entire infinite multiverse, so we try and bounce around as much as we can. I want to play with all these characters, and as much as I love Captain Carter, we've got to share the love. I'm very excited to show new worlds, new heroes." Bradley also hints that while many of season 1's episodes featured "big, let's end the world, let's kill everyone" arcs, season 2 episodes will "focus a lot more on the character stories and these heroes and showing a different side of them that people don't expect and hopefully they can relate to." "We're not a show that's designed to set up Avengers 5," she adds. "It's supposed to be just about entertainment and what these heroes mean to us. When I took the job, one of my rules was let's be free. We're in the multiverse — we should be as free as can be and go and run into the wild, into the stories the movies will never do, into the stories the TV shows will never do, and show both Disney and the fans all the possibilities of these characters." What If...? Head Writer Teases Gamora "Prequel" Episode in Season 2 https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/what-if-gamora-episode-season-2-prequel-spoilers/ As Bradley explained in an exclusive interview with ComicBook.com, the episode recounting those versions of Tony and Gamora ended up being delayed due to production problems tied to the COVID-19 pandemic. But as Bradley reassured, that story is coming at some point in the series' second season, as a sort of "prequel" for her appearance in the finale. "We definitely will," Bradley said, when asked if we'll see more of Gamora. "What happened with the Gamora episode, there was originally supposed to be — early on in the season — a Tony and Gamora-centric episode. However, due to COVID and production delays, one of our amazing, amazing animation houses around the globe got hit pretty hard by the pandemic. And we were left with two choices: push the entire season to later this year, or push this one episode to Season 2. We made the choice to push that episode to Season 2, and hoped that seeing Gamora in the finale serves as a teaser for what is to come. In season two, it'll almost be like a little bit of a prequel, we'll see how Tony and Gamora became friends, because those two don't even interact in the main MCU universe." "Given all the upheaval that we've been through in the past two years, pushing an episode is nothing, and we completely understand," Bradley continued. "Our animation houses have been absolute rock stars in pulling off this show." ‘WandaVision' Spinoff Starring Kathryn Hahn in the Works at Disney Plus (EXCLUSIVE) https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/wandavision-spinoff-kathryn-hahn-1235082445/ A “WandaVision” spinoff starring Kathryn Hahn is in development at Disney Plus from Marvel Studios, Variety has learned exclusively from sources. Hahn would reprise the role of Agatha Harkness in the series, which is described by sources as a dark comedy, though exact plot details remain under wraps. “WandaVision” head writer Jac Schaeffer would serve as the writer and executive producer on the project. Should the spinoff go forward, it would be the first project Schaeffer has set up with Marvel since she signed an overall deal with them and 20th Television in May. But by this I mean what I would believe is the general understood definition: An official part of MCU continuity. Meaning, an official part of the continuity of the fictional universes which officially comprise the MCU: Earth-199999 and its adjacent universes confirmed as parts of the franchise. (In the case of the shows, the letter is specifically pleading for them to remain as Earth-199999, with the issue of shunting them to another universe addressed.) Milo Ventimiglia (@MiloVentimiglia) is an actor, director and producer. And one of the hottest stars in America. He's also a really nice, hard-working and fascinating guy. And a guy with very strong opinions about everything from Afghanistan, to Senator Joe Manchin's obstructionism, to a strike in Hollywood by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) union. Milo is a fighter who stands up for what he believes in--not just in the roles he plays--but also in real life. And this is Milo the fighter as candid as you'll ever hear him. After early recognition for roles with Sylverstor Stallone in Rocky Balboa, on Gilmore Girls and the NBC series Heroes, Milo went on to star as Jack Pearson in the massively popular NBC drama, This Is Us. Now, the humble son of a Vietnam vet is a household name. He has received three Emmy nominations and won a Screen Actors Guild Award. But over a decade before that, Ventimiglia toured Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan with the USO in support of US troops. And he's done it multiple times since. Now, he's using his star power to help veterans and to stand with working people. He's supported veterans charities, and for the last month, has been making phone calls to US Senators to help a generation of men and women who've served since 9/11 create a Global War on Terror Memorial on The National Mall in Washington. Milo's been a friend of our host, Paul Rieckhoff (@PaulRieckhoff), for many years. They've worked together on issues, appeared together on political talk shows, and spent late nights hanging out in Hollywood getting pancakes. Milo shares the inside scoop on what's to come on This Is Us, he'll take us behind a red carpet with Nicole Kidman, and he'll talk about creating a super action hero movie with past Independent Americans guests like, Bradley Whitford, Jeffrey Wright, Wes Chatham, Jon Bernthal, Jane Horton and Henry Rollins. You will be entertained. And inspired. It's another conversation that keeps it real. The kind to help you stay vigilant. Because eternal vigilance is the price of freedom. Our host, national security and political analyst and Army veteran Paul Rieckhoff takes you behind the scenes for candid conversations with top leaders from all backgrounds.
