This week on PS This is Awesome!, we dive into some of the biggest stories shaping the gaming industry right now—and a few that might have you raising an eyebrow. We kick things off with a candid (and somewhat concerning) revelation from a former Naughty Dog developer, who claims the studio has largely accepted crunch as a necessary part of making blockbuster games. Is this just the reality of AAA development, or a problem the industry still refuses to solve?Next up, Metro 2039 is officially set to be revealed during an upcoming Xbox livestream, giving fans of the series something big to look forward to. Meanwhile, Hideo Kojima's mysterious Physint is already turning heads thanks to a casting call describing a villain with serious “Mads Mikkelsen in Hannibal” energy—because of course it is.We also unpack new comments from former Bethesda exec Pete Hines, who sheds light on why he left ahead of Starfield's launch—and what he had to say about Microsoft's direction might raise some questions. On the lighter side, No Man's Sky continues its redemption arc with a wild Pokémon-style update inspired by a fan suggestion… and yes, they actually did it.Finally, we discuss Sony's new “Playerbase” initiative, which lets you scan yourself into Gran Turismo 7—but most fans aren't exactly thrilled. Plus, with Xbox revamping its achievement system, we ask: is it time for PlayStation trophies to evolve?Visit www.patreon.com/psthisisawesome to support the show and help us continue producing the content you love! Please, if you enjoyed the content — or even if you didn't quite enjoy this one — come back. We're kicking off with the latest pulse-pounding thriller from South Korean action maestro Ryoo Seung-wan. Streaming now on Netflix, Humint takes us to Vladivostok, where a South Korean agent (Zo In-sung) and a North Korean official (Park Jeong-min) find themselves in a deadly game of "human intelligence" gone wrong.Fun Flix Fact: This film completes director Ryoo's "Overseas Location" trilogy, following The Berlin File and Escape from Mogadishu. If you love the kinetic "gun-fu" of John Woo, you'll notice several stylistic nods—Ryoo has described this film as his ultimate homage to the Hong Kong action legend!Production Trivia: To get that authentic, gritty feel of the North Korea-Russia border, the production spent months filming in extreme cold. The cast reportedly had to use special heated suits under their costumes to keep their muscles from seizing up during those breathless hand-to-hand fight scenes. To celebrate a decade of South Korean cinematic excellence, we're revisiting the 2016 masterpiece The Wailing. It's the film that took the "possession" genre, mixed it with police procedural and folk horror, and left us all staring at the screen in stunned silence. The Ritual: The intense, bone-shaking shaman ritual scene took four days to film. Actor Hwang Jung-min performed the sequence with such intensity that many of the extras—and even some of the crew—felt physically unsettled, wondering if they were accidentally summoning something real! For this week's Hidden Gem, we're recommending the gnarly "family horror" flick Dust Bunny. It marks the feature directorial debut of Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) and stars the incomparable Mads Mikkelsen as a hitman who is hired by an eight-year-old girl to kill the monster under her bed.Fun Flix Fact: This is a mini Hannibal reunion! Fuller wrote the role of the hitman specifically for Mads Mikkelsen. When Mads read the script, his only note was that his co-star, Sophie Sloan, was so good he wanted her to keep her thick Scottish accent—but she ended up teaching herself a perfect American accent via TikTok in just two weeks!Visual Magic: The film was heavily inspired by the "Amblin" era of the 80s (The Goonies, Gremlins). To capture that "scary-but-enchanted" look, the production team used practical puppets for the "Dust Bunny" monster, ensuring that when it rises from the floorboards, it has a terrifying, tangible weight. And if that's not enough entertainment for you, we've even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming. Press play for the friendliest film discussions this side of Hollywood! In Cosmosexuals: Screen Acting, Stardom, and Male Sex Appeal (U Texas Press, 2025), Dr. Mark Gallagher presents an examination of male screen sex appeal and the ways that race, ethnicity, and national origin combine with performance tools and film and television style to aid or inhibit actors' circulation on an increasingly global stage. Sex appeal is complicated, especially for screen actors. Looking good is not enough. Charisma and charm have to register when the camera rolls. And sexiness has to travel. Today's heartthrobs are expected to raise temperatures all around the world. Cosmosexuals theorizes male sex appeal as a form of capital in an age of international stardom. Screen scholar Dr. Gallagher assembles a diverse cast—Idris Elba, Pedro Pascal, Simu Liu, Ryan Gosling, and more—analyzing how each actor uses his appearance, voice, and movement to perform in ways that viewers across cultural divides register as sexually appealing. Cosmosexuals also explores the intersection of global sex appeal and exoticism in historical and contemporary contexts—from the malleable racial identities of Omar Sharif and Conrad Veidt to Mads Mikkelsen's “accented whiteness”—and assesses the barriers that confine nonwhite actors, in spite of their talent or celebrity. Far more than handsome faces and chiseled abs, male sex symbols emerge as laborers subject to disciplinary regimes steeped in patriarchy, racism, and structural inequity. As such, they have much to tell us about the economies of taste at work in the construction of screen masculinity and the terms of human desire. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. Bryan opens up about his childhood influences, his love of horror, and how Dust Bunny became a love letter to Amblin era storytelling with a darker edge. Together they unpack Hannibal, vulnerability in performance, working with icons like Sigourney Weaver, and why curiosity and humanity are the foundation of great storytelling. Watching Danish movies and TV shows is a great way to survive the long Danish winter—and if you're learning Danish or trying to understand Danish culture, it's even better. Many films are available online for free.   Whatever your taste, there are Danish films for it: Danish film noir from the 1940s if you like crime dramas, the classic Olsen Gang comedies if you prefer something lighter, and Danish children's shows that are actually great for adults learning Danish because the language is so simple. Denmark has been making movies since 1897, and Nordisk Film, founded in 1906, is still the world's oldest continuously operating film studio. You've probably seen their logo if you've been to the cinema in Denmark. In this episode, I'll tell you about Danish cinema classics you should know about, from Mads Mikkelsen movies like Another Round (which won an Oscar) to vintage Danish TV series like Matador that every Dane has seen. Want to know where to actually watch Danish movies online? I'll tell you about Filmstriben (free with your CPR number), DR.DK with its treasure trove of classic Danish television, and how Netflix has even started making new Danish-language TV series. Plus, I'll explain how all this Danish movie production is funded by our giant Danish taxes—and why the government makes Netflix contribute too. It's all part of keeping Danish film and TV alive in an increasingly English-speaking world. Perfect for: Expats in Denmark, anyone learning Danish, fans of Scandinavian films and Nordic cinema

He talks about Fuller's ability to blend fantasy, horror, action, and heart into a story that feels both intimate and wildly imaginative, calling the movie a rare four-quadrant genre experience. He also shares why Dust Bunny works as a surprising holiday release, celebrating its color, humor, emotional core, and the kind of big-screen escapism people crave at the end of the year. David talks about working alongside legends like Sigourney Weaver and Mads Mikkelsen, praising Weaver's fearless choices and calling the cast a dream for anyone who loves genre storytelling. He also touches on the creative lessons he's learned from Bryan Fuller — especially the power of relentless vision, emotional honesty, and worldbuilding that transports viewers while still speaking to the heart.Dust Bunny hits screens December 12 and delivers a fantastical, darkly funny, and deeply human story perfect for the holiday season.

Thankfully, Tim Grierson from Screen International returns to help try and make sense of it. The latest film from Oscar-winner James L. Brooks stars Emma Mackey as a young lieutenant governor who must step up and lead her state, but various personal and professional crises get in the way. Jamie Lee Curtis, Albert Brooks and Woody Harrelson are among the impressive supporting cast. In theaters. DUST BUNNY: Writer-director Bryan Fuller (TV's "Pushing Daisies," "Hannibal") makes his feature debut with this delightfully dark tale. A precocious girl (Sophie Sloan) hires a hitman (Mads Mikkelsen) to kill the monster beneath her bed. But is the creature real, or just in her imagination? We all agree that Cassandra Naud is dynamite in the lead, and Megan and Dave even feel sympathy for her murderous character (weird!). Then there's DUST BUNNY (24:28), a fantasy-horror about a young girl who thinks there's a monster under her bed that has eaten her family, so she hires her intriguing neighbor Mads Mikkelsen (playing a hitman) to off the monster. One of us hated this, two of us loved it. And we all like Sigourney Weaver and her gun shoes. Finally, there's WAKE UP DEAD MAN: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY (44:14), the latest in Rian Johnson's whodunit series. We're divided on this one again (two pro, one suuuuper con), but we all love Josh O'Connor's and Glenn Close's performances. Over on Patreon, we watch and yap about the 1946 noir BLACK ANGEL.

Actor, writer, and monster kid David Dastmalchian joins Talking Strange host Aaron Sagers to talk about his role as a badass hitman in Dust Bunny (opening in theaters Dec. 12), his own childhood nightmares, and chatting about mortality from inside a coffin. In Bryan Fuller's Dust Bunny, David plays a mysterious hitman sent to take out Mads Mikkelsen's character who is a high-value target in a fantastical criminal underworld. The job seems simple until he finds his mark seated with a 10-year-old girl, and suddenly the mission, the money, and his own buried history collide. David breaks down how Fuller pitched the role from the character's point of view and why a monster in the bed might stop this killer cold. Aaron and David dig into: David's childhood monsters: a small Frankenstein's creature stepping out of a closet door, and people who beg him for help before transforming into werewolves How those fears now live on in his comic Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter and other writing projects Bryan Fuller's heightened “world at 11” tone — grounded emotion with stylized color, comedy, and horror (think John Wick meets Amélie with a touch of Spielberg, Dante, and Sondheim) Dust Bunny as a holiday release and why David sees it as a perfect family-sharing, big-screen fairy tale for spooky-minded folks of all ages They also talk about Grave Conversations, David's YouTube show where he interviews guests while lying together in coffins, and how those end-of-life, afterlife, and legacy discussions reveal a more vulnerable side of people like Bryan Fuller. _______________________________________________________________ The Talking Strange Show with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture show featuring celebrity and author interviews, as well as experts in all things strange and unexplained. Visionary creator Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies, American Gods) joins Talking Strange host Aaron Sagers to discuss his feature directorial debut, Dust Bunny. The movie is a dark, fantastical fairy tale about childhood fear, imagined monsters, and the very real ones hiding in plain sight. The film stars Mads Mikkelsen as a mysterious hitman who kills real-life monsters and Sophie Sloan as a fearless 10-year-old girl convinced something evil has devoured her family. Together, they battle assassins, confront grief, and blur the line between fantasy and reality in a story that reminds viewers of the hyper-realized worlds of John Wick and Amélie. In this wide-ranging conversation, Fuller breaks down the film's heightened storybook aesthetic, monster design inspired by a child's imagination, action sequences that feel almost balletic, and what it's like directing performers like Mads Mikkelsen, Sigourney Weaver, and David Dastlmalchian. He also opens up about his own belief in the supernatural, including a chilling, unexplained encounter he experienced while living in Los Angeles. It's a conversation about monsters, fairy tales, ghosts, and why believing children, and embracing imagination, may be the most powerful tool we have. What was your childhood monster under the bed, or in the closet? Childhood fears, bedtime monsters, and the hazy membrane between imagination and trauma collide in “Dust Bunny,” the feature directorial debut of Bryan Fuller, a filmmaker whose storytelling instincts have always lived in the space between the two B's - beauty and brutality. It is a film that feels handcrafted out of nightmares and fairy-tale sugar, a creature feature through the eyes of a child who sees the world in magic and menace at the same time. Rich with color, shadows, and emotional ambiguity, it is unmistakably a Bryan Fuller movie, which is to say that it's tender, violent, mischievous, and sincere in equal measure.Joining The Discourse in today's episode is Bryan Fuller himself, the writer and director behind shows like “Hannibal,” “Pushing Daisies,” “American Gods,” and “Star Trek: Discovery” (in its early days). Fuller's signature blend of genre storytelling and emotional excavation finds a new form here as he steps behind the camera for his first feature-length film, crafting a story about a little girl who hires a hitman to kill the monster under her bed and discovers that nothing is simple when your fears have roots. The film stars Mads Mikkelsen, Sigourney Weaver, David Dastmalchian, Sophie Sloan, and Sheila Atim.

In this episode of Comic Stripped, we dive into one of the wildest comic-to-film gaps ever: Victor Santos' silent, minimalist noir Polar: It Came From the Cold and Netflix's loud, neon-soaked action flick Polar starring Mads Mikkelsen. The comic is all style and silence—sharp lines, stark colors, and a cold assassin drifting through a dying world. The movie throws that out for explosive violence, cartoon villains, and a full John Wick makeover. We break down how the same character becomes two completely different stories, why the adaptation swings so hard away from the source, and what this says about Hollywood's obsession with recreating Wick-style hits without understanding what makes them work.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

This week on Forgotten Cinema, the Mikes pour one out for "Another Round" (2020), the Danish drama-comedy that deserved far more attention than it got. Both Mike Butler and Mike Field really enjoy this film; the performances are excellent across the board, especially from Mads Mikkelsen, who delivers one of his most emotionally layered roles. The film walks a tricky tonal tightrope, balancing humor, melancholy, and hard truths about addiction, midlife crisis, and the search for meaning. The Mikes discuss how the movie's message lands gracefully without preaching, and how its final stretch (especially that unforgettable dance scene) cements it as something special. They also talk about why the film slipped under the radar for so many viewers: despite awards recognition, Another Round launched as a foreign-language release during the pandemic, which sadly, severely limited its reach.A smart, moving, beautifully acted film that more people should see. What's your favorite film about drinking?
