Welcome to Watchers of Tomorrow! A podcast where we go through the world of science fiction television episode by episode, talking about the themes, concepts, ideas, the good, the bad, and the weird. We are great fans of sci-fi and would like to invite you on our journey through the funky and strange worlds that we are to explore… Today's episode: The Enterprise meets another deity from Earth's past. But this time it isn't one attached to European faiths! Fans of feathered serpents finally get to meet one in today's adventure. Too bad he's kind of demanding. ====== Who are we? 100 EPISODES!!! As TG1T crosses the century mark, we're on the brink of finishing the Animated Series. To commemorate, we try out Red Shirt cologne and discuss its Carpe Diem philosophy, the Enterprise crew encounters the Mayan snake-god of Kukulkan, and we ponder how successful this series has been at balancing its children audience and the larger, real-life themes that are so much a part of all Trek.
TAS fan Carlton join us. Kirk and crew meet Kulkulkan. He is an ancient alien that visited the Mayan people to pass on his knowledge. Now that he has been forgotten, he is angry and must find out why.
The excitement is palpable as we reach the end of Star Trek: The Animated Series. Our special guest Kylie returns to the show, and we immediately ask her about alien genitalia. We pour out an extensive amount of beverage for those we have lost this year; the list is long and our sorrow runs deep. Matt bares his soul while revisiting the trauma of losing on Jeopardy. Corrections Corner takes us into a deeper exploration of the pornography situation in East Asia. Winnie the Pooh gets banned, we celebrate the performance artist Yoko Ono, and find out all the things we get wrong when Matt and Shawn aren't around. Matt teases an epic quiz, so take this opportunity to study old Warped episodes, because you definitely have time to fit that into your life. We hope you had a great year, we hope you get a little bit of entertainment, joy, or even just a little diversion from our silly little show, and we are extremely grateful to all our listeners. We look forward to bringing you more of the most completely unnecessary commentary in 2020! Have a Happy New Year and don't forget to hit that bell! Doctor McCoy is accused of committing genocide ("Albatross"), a godlike alien being wants credit for assisting humanity's growth ("How Sharper Than a Serpent's Tooth?"), and everyone begins to de-age upon entering a backwards-flowing universe ("The Counter-Clock Incident"). And thus ends Star Trek: The Animated Series. Dan and Mike discuss the series as a whole, and a special guest brings us the Star Trek: Babies theme song.
