Elaborate clothing made from paper by Australian pensioner

Age is no barrier to creativity for one Australian pensioner who creates fashionable clothes out of paper. The 69-year-old has been hailed as an emerging artist for her work. In her studio, there's paper couture all around Stephanie Reynolds. "I had always been involved in theater when I was younger so I'd always had this great love for design and fashion and making things," said Reynolds. The 69-year-old freely admits she's a textile addict. And she's now challenged herself by starting to work with paper. “That's tissue paper and this is a very fine Japanese tissue and you can see how unbelievably delicate that actually is,” Reynolds explained. Reynolds uses glue to create elaborate paper pieces. “I love the way that it's unpredictable. It doesn't behave exactly like textile,” said Reynolds. After a long career as a business management consultant, Reynolds decided to revive this old passion of hers. In the past 12 months, she has held a fashion show and had a solo exhibition. She's now part of an exhibition at the Launceston Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery that focuses on ten emerging artists. She said it's "hilarious" to be considered an emerging artist. But experts say it's perfectly reasonable for someone of her age to be given the accolade. “Emerging art is not based on age and there's a great tradition of artists throughout the world who haven't actually done their seminal works until their 40s or 50s, so emerging can happen at any time,” said Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery curator Ashley Bird. “I think what Stephanie's done is amazing. Just to put your artwork out there at any age is an incredible feat,” said emerging artist Elizabeth Baird. With the exhibition, Reynolds hopes others will be inspired to try something new. “I would love if more older people didn't keep on with the story that they're not creative, because it's just a story we've learnt somewhere in our lives. I reckon everybody is creative,” said Reynolds. Reynolds is now dreaming that her art will be shown around the world. This article was provided by The Associated Press.

The Christian Writer Collective Stephanie ReynoldsAre you a Christian who has a testimony you would like to share? Are you are Christian called to do something greater than you can do on your own? Are you a Christian who would love to be a published author, but you don’t have the time, the know-how or the resources to do a top notch, high quality book, get it distributed and earn a decent income from your effort? How would it feel if you could do all of that and earn a possible significant income on the side? How would it feel to have the opportunity to publish 10-12 or more books in one year? Oh, and only by working about 2-3 hours per week, in addition to writing only 12 chapters in one year? Does this sound interesting to you? Well, if you answered yes to those questions, you will want to pay attention to what we will talk about in these next few minutes. My guest today is Stephanie Reynolds, CEO and founder of the “Christian Writers Collective, LLC.” The “Christian Writers Collective” is seeking 100 Christian authors to contribute to its book series that will be published at the same pace of the bestselling series of secular inspirational books. The plan is to publish one inspirational book each month as part of their “Jesus Can…” book series. Stephanie started writing at the prompting of Chuck Swindoll and started out by journaling and then expanded into writing a Christian newsletter for moms. She also has a background in magazine writing, freelance commercial writing and specialized in providing content for websites. Now, she is tackling this project on behalf of the “Christian Writers Collective.” Stephanie was on our program back in September of 2020. I was so impressed with her plan, that I submitted my testimony the very next day after conducting our interview. And, praise God, I was selected to be part of this unique program. Amen! Help me welcome to the program, Stephanie Reynolds! Stephanie, is so good to have you come back on the program and sharing all about this adventure and catch up our listeners. Amen! What is the purpose for “The Christian Writers Collective?” Stephanie, I know what’s been going on, but for our listeners, catch us up on how this project is coming along… Just before you came on the program back in September of 2020, you said the Lord “directed you to change how you were presenting the income possibilities” because you were afraid of scaring off 100 writers. Explain what the Lord showed you concerning this… Right now, we are at about 30 writers for the first book, which is published, praise God! The second book is in editing. Tell us about the first book, http://www.jesuscanbookseries.com/ (“Jesus Can…Give You A New Life!”) And the second book is currently scheduled for publication on July 4th and is titled, “Jesus Can…Heal Your Hurt.” But, you also have a special contest concerning this second book. Can you share this information with our audience? So, let me get this straight… If anyone listening to us right now would like to join the “Christian Writers Collective,” they have an opportunity to do so by participating in a “Testimony Writing Contest,” which is open from now until May 31, 2021. This will get them a byline in the 2nd book as well? Their testimony needs to be 500-750 words and they can win a prize worth $1000, which is one year free membership in the “Christian Writers Collective?” Praise God! Now, back when we first spoke last September, you were just putting all of this together. As with any new venture, especially this one that is trying to include 100 individual Christian writers, there were bumps and learning curves to figure out along the way. But now, most of these processes have been worked out, things are starting to progress more smoothly and, by working together, only about two to two-half hours per week. This is by supporting the collective in their spare time. And the participants in the “Collective” have an opportunity to... Support this podcast

Do you have a desire to inspire others with an opportunity to make a little side income at the same time? Do you desire to do all of this to help inspire others with their Christian walk? Well, if you answered yes to those questions, you will want to pay attention to what we will talk about in these next few minutes. First question, I always start with this question first, other than that brief bit of information I just shared, tell us in your own words, “Who is Stephanie Reynolds?” So, how did this project evolve? What inspired you to take on a project like this? Give us a brief overview of the project? This is so interesting. What kinds of testimonials are you seeking? How does this work? What will each person have to do to participate? You can’t be the only one doing all the work on this, right? What is the primary goal you hope to accomplish by organizing this effort? You explained some of the responsibilities for each person that wants to participate, what do they get out of their participating in this project? I know, from what I’ve read in preparing for your interview today, that you initially wanted to launch this project the first week of October. Can you explain why and when you WILL be launching the first book? What is the cutoff date again for having submissions sent to you for the first book? Apply BEFORE September 9, 2020 And what if they miss that cut off date? Can they submit for the second book? Stephanie, this all sounds like something Christians should be participating in. Even if they are not authors, is there any type of crowd funding or any way someone can send in donations to help with the expenses of this project? Go to www.latebloomers.com (http://www.latebloomers.com/) If someone wants to get in touch with you, how can they do that? And they can use that same information to submit their testimony to you as well? Folks, if you have a testimony that has inspired others when you shared it, this may be something you want to submit it to as well. Who knows, your testimony could be selected for the book and it will inspire perhaps millions of people around the world! That is the purpose for a testimony, right? Get in touch with Stephanie today. Go down into the shown notes and use those links to reach out and participate in this great venture. Who knows, you could end up with some residual income that will be a blessing to you as well. Stephanie, thank you for coming on the program to share about this great project with the “Christian Writers Collective.” I’m going to submit my testimony when we finish here. Praise God. Folks, that is all the time we have for today. For Stephanie Reynolds and myself, this is Pastor Bob reminding you to BE BLESSED IN ALL THAT YOU DO! On today’s episode of the Journeywomen podcast, I chatted with Stephanie Reynolds about relational intimacy, or intimacy within the context of all of our relationships. Stephanie has been married almost 40 years! She and her husband, Rick, work with couples who are recovering from infidelity through the ministry of Affair Recovery. This conversation with Stephanie wraps up our series on relationships that we’ve had going on for the past four weeks. Through conversations with guests about intimacy with God, singleness, dating, and marriage,  we’ve learned that being known involves risk, but we can take risks in knowing and being known by others because of Christ! Through faith in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, we can experience intimacy with the Father. That intimacy with God fully satisfies us and enables us to experience intimacy with others, whether it be through marriage or through Christian community, even though we will inevitably experience pain that comes from broken people knowing and loving broken people. As we walk in intimate relationships with others, we are able to forgive one another and experience reconciliation because of the Good News of the Gospel! It is only in Christ that we can experience true intimacy with God and others, despite ourselves. This whole series has stirred my affection for Jesus, ya’ll! I hope it’s done that for you too, and this episode is no exception.
