This month's commentary podcast revisits 2015's Remain, the central work of Them Are Us Too. It's a beautiful record which ably fits into darkwave and dreampop traditions, but more importantly showcases the incredible talents and special personalities of Kennedy Ashlyn and Cash Askew. From its alternately delicate and crushing sounds to its radical demands for a peaceful existence, it was a pleasure to revisit this masterpiece.

We listen to Remain from Them Are Us Too on Dias Records. Their first and only proper album with Cash Askew and Kennedy Ashlyn who met at Kennedys goth birthday party where they bonded over Cash's playlist. A typical art school band story, playing music instead of critiquing oil painted meme's they managed to create haunting shoegaze while in their early 20's just before Cash tragically passed in the Ghost Ship fire in 2016. It's never going to be easy to think about where they might have gone and all the talented people who died at an alternative space show way before their time. Try to make music like this before you're gone. Email - records@harveylovesharvey.com Twitter - @welisten21 Instagram - welisten2records Leave a message on the Welisten hotline - 978-707-9899
This week on Talking to Ghosts we have SRSQ, who recently put out their project debut album on Dais Records. SRSQ is the solo project of Kennedy Ashlyn, who was the keyboard/vocalist for Them Are Us Too. We talk about the mental health of touring, home decorations, and how to make sad music while still living a functional life. SRSQ is opening for Godflesh in Portland on December 5th. Talking to Ghosts is best found on our Official Website.

In the wake of the Oakland tragedy, we wanted to pay our respects on this episode of the podcast to the life and work of Cash Askew of Them Are Us Too.
En este episodio, Milton Barboza comparte tres canciones tan frescas que podrían estar de venta en la Central de Abastos: la introspección de Them Are Us Too, el hiphop etéreo de Kehlani (con Chance the Rapper) y la intensidad de Mikal Cronin.
This one has been fun to make, because it has a lot of variety. I really do love many different types of music and this mix has everything from progressive instrumental to punk rock to indie to electronic to drone and more. It is almost 11 minutes before a single lyric is sung, and even then it is barely audible. What fun! At the same time, it is hard to contend with the greatness of songs like this Say Hi track, and others. So there are most certainly some great songs included. And a new Swervedriver track. Wow. That's a band I would not have expected to not only reunite, but reunite and produce great material. They were sort of on the fringes of the shoegaze movement in the 90's and had one minor hit, but I honestly couldn't get any of my friends turned on to them (I loved Raise when it came out). And for them to come back and produce something great when so many reunited bands produce second or third rate material is a real achievement. I am looking forward to that album, if indeed there is one impending. I still avoid music blogs and sites and rely on a script I wrote to accumulate new music, so I honestly don't know if there is an album in the works or not. Anyway, if you're wondering about the bro'd-out cover, it's lifted from the great comic Hawkeye, which is really pretty awesome. You know, Hawkeye, from the Avengers, but he never had a central story before. And it's way fun. The mobsters say Bro a lot. BiH 45 feat.
