Mali Noyes just pulled off a mind-blowing feat in the ski world: completing the Chuting Gallery in 47 days. That's 93 chutes (she actually did more than that) around the Wasatch in 47 days, with over 200,000 feet of vert climbed, while navigating tricky conditions, complex terrain, incredible physical demands, and mental and emotional fatigue. And she pulled it all off in a time that seems almost unfathomable. So how did she do it? And what led her to take it on? Jonathan Ellsworth talks with Mali about all of it, including some of the best advice she received from Greg Hill, Cody Townsend, Janelle Smiley, and Sam Smoothy.RELATED LINKS:Episode Sponsor: Skratch LabsGet Yourself Covered: BLISTER+Mali's YouTube ChannelTOPICS & TIMES:Skratch Labs: JE's favorite product (1:14)New BLISTER+ Members (2:13)History of The Chuting Gallery (3:47)What Were Your Goals?

Show Notes Episode 495: Avon, Amway and Tupperware, OH MY! This week host Dave Bledsoe devises a plan where he recruits two people to pay for his drinks and they recruit two people to pay for their drinks and one of his, everyone profits. (It didn't work because no one likes him enough to buy even ONE drink for him.) On the show this week we took a look back at side hustles in the 70's and 80's (And maybe by some Tupperware.) Along the way we learn that Dave might not be the worst uncle out there? Then we dive into the history of direct sales in America (Buy Farmwhoofer, buy the best!) before we head back to the beginnings of an American institution and how it made generations of American women feel pretty. Then we move right along to the origin story of all those plastic bowls with missing lids in your parent's kitchen cabinets. (Seriously, none of these lids fit any of the bowls we have!) Then we talk about the granddaddy of multi level marketing scams. (Allegedly) And how Amway created something kind of like a cult around selling generic crap and how it is screwing us even today! Our Sponsor this week is Ponz-Co, we promise it's not illegal. We open with the burp to seal wonder of Tupperware and close with Chutes and Ladders who are falling in love with the Avon Lady! Skidroads, log chutes and flumes were used to transport lumber to the mills and to market. Skidroads used oxen to pull tons of huge logs. Chutes were long troughs made of wood. John Cook's chute sent logs at 90 miles an hour, sizzling when they hit the water. Flumes with water were as long as 54 miles. Brave souls occasionally rode in special boats down the flume, not all of them made it. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Colorado Springs is a bucket list destination for mountain biking, most especially due to the variety of trails, terrains, views, and accessibility, but it has been community support through local trail building non-profits that has been key to maintaining and growing it and making it so great. But there was still a need for more advanced trail advocacy and building and now thanks to the Colorado Springs Mountain Biking Association, it's getting even better. The organization, formed just two years ago, has fast become a force in helping to speed up the process for creating and improving trails and connections - not just for advanced mountain bikers but all levels of users. A Facebook memory popped up, showing me a picture of my triumphant five-year-old when she’d won a fun and competitive game of Chutes and Ladders. I’d tagged my brother and sister in the post because we’d often played this board game when we were kids. Chutes and Ladders is based on a game that’s been played for centuries, helping people learn to count and providing the thrill of being able to climb a ladder and win the game by getting to 100 the fastest. But watch out! If you land on spot 98, you slide far down the chute, delaying—or even prohibiting—victory. Isn’t that just like life? Jesus lovingly prepared us for the ups and downs of our days. He said we’d experience “trouble” (John 16: 33), but He also shared a message of peace. We don’t have to be shaken by the trials we face. Why? Christ has overcome the world! Nothing is greater than His power, so we too can face whatever comes our way with “the mighty strength” He’s made available to us (Ephesians 1:19). Just like in Chutes and Ladders, sometimes life presents a ladder allowing us to happily ascend and other times we tumble down a slippery slide. But we don’t have to play the game of life without hope. We have the power of Jesus to help us overcome it all.
