A Chinese court has ruled it's illegal to replace human workers with AI and major battery manufacturers are moving to deploy sodium-ion batteries for home energy storage - could this be a major breakthrough that will substantially cheapen EVs? Things have been busy for the team so we apologize for the lack of LIVE we have had. Speaking of busy, Dan was traveling this past week and came across something in the Kansas City airport that he really loved and it was gender-neutral bathrooms! You read that right, Dan LOVED the experience. He tells us all about the pros of these in particular and we find out what Europeans hate about bathrooms in the US.  They say everything old becomes new again and the most recent trend we see coming back? LANDLINES. That is right, dust off your rotary phone folks, landlines are making a comeback. The reasons have more to do with child safety and limiting social media but regardless of the reason, we are intrigued by their return. And finally, Dan was in a few Ubers this week and the smell really got to him. So he has some advice for Uber and we would love to know what you think as well so check us out! This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we're very much in planning mode - talking babymoon ideas, future parenting rules (we NEED your thoughts on the bed-making debate), and yet another round of nesting. We start with coffee shop talk (yes, the same one we've been talking about for the last two weeks), why good habits take forever to build while bad ones take about two days, and the current parent uniform: sweatsuits with mystery stains. From there, it's full nesting energy (again) - labeling everything (western shorts, IYKYK), debating whether kids are born Type A or if we accidentally make them that way, and getting into the surprisingly divisive question of whether kids should make their own beds (possibly our first real parenting style disagreement live on the pod??). Then we get into technology and boundaries: the no phones in bedrooms rule, what age kids are actually getting phones now, and how we somehow ended up with a landline (yes, really). We celebrate Maria's one-year anniversary with us, spiral into celebrity power couples, Grammys discourse, Valentine's Day card exchanges at school, and our ongoing “no gifts” debate. Mid-episode, we start planning our babymoon (US only, no car required - please send help), talk through joint bachelor/bachelorette parties (fun or a hard no?), share our #1 travel hack that immediately lowers stress (with or without kids), and revisit the ongoing dog conversation - why everyone says we should NOT get one yet, and whether we're secretly a no-pets house… until the day we're not (I still cannot believe Harrison asked if I'd consider a pet spider). We wrap with mall nostalgia (or lack thereof), a classic Bicker of the Week (pool vs. no pool - IN TEXAS), and a new behavioral tactic we'll keep in mind for those future meltdowns: connection before direction. Hello to you listening in Dong Nai, Vietnam!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.Imagine this: parents taking matters into their own hands and dialing back on their children's cell phone access by bringing landlines into their homes. In one dad's words, “Landlines strip communication skills back to basics.”What makes this move look like something out of The Wayback Machine? Because it confronts the digital mainstream with unsung values grounded in new ideas. In our house this is how we're doing it; not so much to return to artifacts of the past but to values, manners, civility, listening, and a way of being in the world that is not tied down to and held hostage by the ever-present DEVICE. I believe that our yearning for a more humane way of life in this digital age is showing up in what we decide to let go of as well as what we choose to hold on to.  Click HERE to watch the 4-minute Today Show segment to learn more.Question: It's not just about a mom or a dad with an idea but an idea that's resonating. What ideas do you have to marry the pre- and post-digital worlds by calling on the unsung values of the old ways?  You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! In this week's episode of Not Alone, Valeria is joined by Gary for a fun, unfiltered, not-so-deep chat about the latest pop culture headlines, and a few real-life reflections along the way. Fresh off Valeria's dream trip to Peru, the two unpack everything from “Nobody Wants This” Season 2 and Kristen Bell's Instagram backlash, to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's surprising split. They debate modern marriage, from separate bedrooms to taking your spouse's last name, and share their thoughts on chivalry, “the princess treatment,” and who should pick up the bill. Valeria challenges Gary on talking about pop culture (who proudly doesn't keep up) and why sometimes, it's okay to care about the “dumb stuff.” It's a light, honest, and hilarious peek into how two very different minds see love, fame, and everyday life.  Shop my looks from this episode: https://shopmy.us/collections/2843418?tab=collections Follow me: https://www.instagram.com/valerialipovetsky/  What I talked about:  0:18 - Start of the episode 0:25 - Follow @notalone.pod on TikTok 0:38 - Dream trip to Peru debrief 2:09 - Trying something new in today's episode with Gary 4:05 - “Nobody Wants This” season 2 6:30 - Converting to Judaism 8:33 - People criticizing the show 10:58 - Fortuna Skin Ad 12:35 - Kristen Bell IG post backlash 16:20 - Married couples with separate bedrooms 20:11 - Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban ending 19-year marriage 21:30 - “Babygirl” Movie 24:30 - Defining a successful marriage 27:29 - Thoughts on Katy Perry & Justin Trudeau dating 29:44 - Husbands taking wives' last name 31:15 - Gary's vintage kick 32:38 - Confusion around Katy & Justin 34:59 - Is Chivalry dead? 36:39 - Splitting the bill 39:15 - Bringing back the “Princess Treatment” 41:29 - Landlines are back 43:08 - Dumb phones vs. smart phones for kids 45:15 - Not easy talking to Gary about pop culture 47:10 - Advice from Amanda Hirsch 47:33 - Caring about dumb stuff Learn more about your ad choices. On June 11th, actress Allison Williams joined Anna live onstage at the Tribeca Festival in New York City for a conversation that was equal parts introspective and hilarious. Allison talked about everything from botox and how it impacts her work (and the faces she's able to make to her young son) to her very complicated and controversial film and TV characters, like the famously maligned Marnie from Girls. Allison and Anna also welcomed two members of Gen Z into the conversation, Amelia Ritthaler and Evan Lazarus of the Girls Rewatch podcast, to discuss why Gen Z is way more sympathetic to Marnie than millennials were.    Allison's new podcast from Headgum is called Landlines.
