This is a short, wild romp into mashed-up disco and electro. I played this set for the event Global Disco in Akita Japan December 2nd 2017. For this set, I sliced up tracks by Donna Summer, The Bee Gees, Blondie and a few more recent tracks with a disco "vibe." All the remixed tracks were composed on ipad. Equipment and Apps used for this set:ipad Pro (2017)Traktor DJ for iPad (to play the tracks at the BPM I wanted)Blocs Wave (for sampling, slicing and dicing the tracks played from Traktor)Launchpad (for playing the sliced samples and loops live). The party was a lot of fun, and there are plans to make it a semi-regular event at Jamhouse Akita. Looking forward to more disco mixes!Download Tokyo Metro Vol.18 (mp3)
JUST IN TIME FOR THE BLACK FRIDAY & CYBER MONDAY SALES! This episode is dedicated to everyone stackin' your chips and makin' each one you spend count. You wanna learn how to DJ, but don't have the scratch to drop on a 4-deck Pioneer TOUR1 setup? Don't worry, neither do we! One of the more common questions we get, is about quality beginner gear to get started on, that is also budget friendly. For Episode 68, we gave ourselves a (soft) $500 budget and put together 4 unique setups that would allow someone to get started DJing, learn the craft, and even play out some gigs. The only assumption we make, is that you will have some external audio source to hook up to. You'll have to listen to the show for the explanations behind each piece of gear, but see below for the list we each came up with and the Amazon links to each bit of kit. Remember, we're picking out competent gear to get started with for as little money as possible, here, not trying to list the best of the best. So, with that in mind, these suggestions are only a few of the infinite possibilities. Feel free to share your own experiences and ideas by writing or calling in! We *LOVE* your feedback! Please note that the pricing in the links below may be different from when we actually recorded this episode, and some of this gear can be easily found used on Ebay for less (which is what we did, for some of the gear we mentioned, in order to stay in the budget). Our 15th podcast brings you straight into the heart of this year's festival with British DJ/Producer/Musician duo Henry & Oliver Keen, aka @soundspecies - featuring exclusive tracks inspired by Manana 2016 and an extract from their astonishing live set with Santiago de Cuba bembe ensemble, Ache Meyi. ++ How and where was the mix recorded? ++ At home, in my first days arriving back in the UK. I did the final compilation on Traktor DJ but I also needed to do some hasty mixes of some of the new tracks to include them. ++ What was the idea behind the mix? ++ Just to present an idea of how inspired we were by the trip and also how the concept of the festival fit so well with how we've been making music for the last few years anyway. ++ How is the mix influenced by Cuba? ++ That is evident when you listen to it I hope! ++ What did you take away from your trip to Santiago ++ Lots of gigabytes of recordings! Lots of new friends, lots of ideas for future collaborations and projects, an allergy to rum!!
So I got to The Kitty where I've been playing house for the last two years and a bit, and the DJ before me told me they've changed the music brief: more commercial after 9.30pm. Well I've never been shy of dropping commercial tracks and mixes into my sets before, but I wasn't prepared for an all commercial set. So I pivoted hard dancey nu disco / house where I was meant to play french house and nordic space discoe, towards even a few sections of droppy EDM in this set. Might not be what you expect from my sets, but I'll play just about anything (see my party sets), so if you feel like an up tempo dance-y GenErik set, this might be your thing. It also has an odd curve. I lost the first two hours to a technical error (thanks Traktor DJ never fixing their search bug), so it starts hard, dips as the holiday crowd dissipates, then picks back up as a rush of punters show up an hour before my set ends and demands to dance (around where In Da Club shows up). It was a fun rollercoaster of a night really as I got thrown for a loop.

I was born 1991, Hungary. I started listen Hardtechno when I was 14 but finished at the age of 19. Something happened with me after I have been in a different type of techno party. My mind changed completely and I started listen slower music what was still full with energy. Then I find my real lifeform: The Underground, Massive, Pounding, Driving & Dark World. I support the Industrial Philharmonics Record l and The Battle Audio Records. My goal is to find new artists who knows the New generation of Dark Techno & also to find young producers who make EPs for Industrial Philharmonics. Sometimes I make sets myself, maybe you have listened them. My first podcast was in the Art Style: Techno Magazin, the series was called: Dark Side of Music. I check tracks, collect them and make banging techno! I use Traktor Dj and Korg Nano Kontrol2 which actually I really like ! About my Set's typical are dynamic & Massive witch temps are about 130-135 bpm . If you haven't listend any set's of mine check out on Youtube or Soundcloud. My favorite Records like : Pragmatik Records, Black Beats Records, Dark Celebrate Records, NGRecords, Elektrax Records, Ex-tract Records, RavenCroft Records, Gobsmacked Records, Oxytec Rcords. Kai-zen Podcast - Regular top guest DJ's playing Deep House, Tech & Techno. Kontrol Room comprises of DJs & Producers Chris Page and Dave Johnys. Brought together by being part of the Kai-Zen team in London, they found themselves billed back to back. They both use the Traktor DJ software, and didn't want to do another "1 track each" club set. So, following inspiration from Chris Liebing & Speedy J's Collabs outfit, an idea was born. A live set up comprising of 2 mixers, laptops, various midi controllers and a synth was devised. After a dummy run, they hit London and turned many heads, mainly due to the amount of equipment in tow! However, the sets that followed drew many kind words and it was decided that the collaboration should be made more permanent. Dubbed "Kontrol Room" by those commenting on the amount of equipment used, a new outfit was born. This is my first mix created with the Traktor DJ software and although a little disjointed it is well worth a listen.
