Keely and Laura also break down the current NWSL standings, with the Reign sitting 8th, and what it means for the stretch ahead. Plus, a look at the U-20 FIFA World Cup in Poland, where Ainsley McCammon, Emeri Adames, and Evan O'Steen are all repping the club on the roster. It's time for another edition of What Did I Miss?, our monthly recurring series where we catch up on the biggest pop culture stories from the past few weeks that may have slipped under the radar. This month, we're joined by returning guests Roo Ryder and Ivan Gafiltha as we tackle everything from the future of physical media and some massive D23 announcements to controversies surrounding AI and the entertainment industry. We'll also take a moment to remember several beloved figures we lost this month before diving into our Discord roundup and wrapping things up with our usual game of pop culture Kahoot!• The apparent move away from physical media, with PlayStation reportedly scaling back its commitment to discs while Xbox may be taking a different approach in the future. We discuss what the potential disappearance of physical games could mean for collectors, preservation, and the way we own the media we love• The huge number of announcements coming out of D23, including Frozen 3, Coco 2, Kingdom Hearts IV, new Disney Parks attractions, major Marvel and X-Men casting announcements, and plenty of other reveals from across Disney's upcoming slate• Twitch's AI controversy and the backlash from creators after the platform seemingly opted streamers into a new AI related feature without clearly informing them, raising bigger questions about transparency, consent, and how platforms are using AI with creator content• The recent passing of Hayden Panettiere, Dolly Parton, Tim Curry, and Peter Cullen, reflecting on their incredible careers and the impact each had on film, television, music, animation, and pop culture across multiple generationsWe also head into our Discord roundup for a lightning round of additional stories, including Dave Bautista being cast as the new Kratos, a surprisingly fun McDonald's Godzilla and Hello Kitty collaboration, reports that Horizon Zero Dawn 3 could still be years away due to the focus on live service projects, and several more stories from the Wait For It Podcast Discord server.Join us for another packed episode of pop culture news, reactions, debates, and plenty of unexpected stories you may have missed. 404 Coyote vs Acme Lives Wolverine Carnage Dolly Parton Tim Curry Peter CullenDoom Scrolling IntroThe Foos are back after a night at The Glass House seeing Spineshank and (hed) p.e., complete with an aging-but-still-functioning mosh pit, brewery stops, stouts, cider, and late-night al pastor burritos. Then the fast-food nostalgia wars continue. The Hello Kitty x Godzilla McDonald's collection is almost complete, Burger King is coming after millennials with Dragon Ball Super toys, Jack in the Box may have a Simpsons Treehouse of Horror takeover coming, and Krispy Kreme already got them with Pokémon. Apparently adults with disposable income are the new Happy Meal demographic. Before Geeking Out, Joe and Steph pay tribute to three icons lost this week: Dolly Parton, Tim Curry, and Peter Cullen. They look back at Dolly's music, philanthropy and surprising Buffy connection; Tim Curry's legendary roles from Rocky Horror and Clue to Pennywise; and Peter Cullen's unmistakable Optimus Prime voice and the touching story behind how he created it.Geeking Out starts with Coyote vs. Acme finally making it into theaters after nearly becoming a tax write-off. The Foos revisit the bizarre road that nearly buried the completed Looney Tunes movie and why its survival became bigger than the movie itself. Then Marvel's Wolverine turns the violence all the way up ahead of its PS5 release, with dismemberment, brutal combat and Logan behaving exactly like Wolverine should. EA's long-missing Iron Man game also resurfaces after unfinished gameplay leaks online, finally proving the project still exists.Star Wars gets tactical with Zero Company, a turn-based Clone Wars-era game that Joe immediately compares to XCOM. Steph also dives into the newest extended look at GTA VI, including Vice City, Jason and Lucia, preorder bonuses and the question everyone still has: is this game actually going to release? They close Geeking Out with the sad news that Tippett Studio is shutting down after 35 years, marking the end of another major piece of practical-effects history tied to Star Wars, RoboCop, Starship Troopers and more. Plus, LA Comic Con costume planning begins with April O'Neil, Casey Jones and the increasingly dangerous possibility of Joe showing up as Raphael in a trench coat. Here's What I Would Do brings two career dilemmas: Marcus in Pasadena finally lands his dream job, only to learn everyone he trusts says the company is miserable to work for. Anthony in El Monte faces something even heavier — his family expects him to take over the restaurant his grandparents started, but preserving the family legacy might mean giving up the career and life he actually wants.ChaptersDoom Scrolling IntroSpineshank + (hed) p.e. at The Glass HouseGodzilla Hello Kitty collection + Dragon Ball Burger KingSimpsons Jack in the Box + Pokémon Krispy KremeFatality Dolly PartonFatality Tim CurryFatality Peter Cullen Optimus PrimeCoyote vs Acme finally hits theatersMarvel Wolverine PS5 brutalityLeaked Iron Man game footageStar Wars Zero CompanyGTA VI extended lookTippett Studio closes after 35 yearsLA Comic Con costume planningHere's What I Would Do Dream job with terrible reputationHere's What I Would Do Taking over the family restaurantOutro + Doom Scrolling OutroCoyote vs Acme, Marvel Wolverine, Wolverine PS5, Iron Man game, Star Wars Zero Company, GTA VI, Tippett Studio, Dolly Parton, Tim Curry, Peter Cullen, Optimus Prime, Dragon Ball Burger King, Hello Kitty Godzilla, The Foobar Show

403 Jimothy Rally Raccoon Dave Bautista Kratos Welcome to Derry Godzilla TriviaDoom Scrolling IntroThe Foos are back after Joe survives Just Like Heaven Festival, Steph narrowly avoids getting bitten at work, and somehow alcohol continues to qualify as hydration. Joe recaps seeing The Strokes, Chromeo, and Matt and Kim at the Rose Bowl, plus Guitar Center's Drum-Off Finals at the Fonda with Bill Burr, John Stamos, Tré Cool, Brad Wilk, Alex González from Maná, and more. Then Seattle introduces the greatest sports mascot nobody asked for: Jimothy, a round neighborhood raccoon who became the Mariners' unofficial rally animal. Scoreboard graphics turn into clubhouse shirts, ticket promotions, charity donations, and Jimothy entering the team's salmon race because apparently baseball analytics have finally peaked.Geeking Out starts with Dave Bautista taking over as Kratos in Prime Video's live-action God of War series. Then It: Welcome to Derry heads even further into the past for Season 2, jumping to the Great Depression and the Bradley Gang massacre while expanding Pennywise's history. The Foos also get into the upcoming live-action Naruto, with Charles Melton reportedly circling Kakashi; Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider; and why Marvel should let Ghost Rider become an actual horror movie instead of another standard superhero flick.Podzilla returns for the Hello Kitty x Godzilla McDonald's Happy Meal collection, including Hello Kitty as Godzilla, Keroppi as King Ghidorah, My Melody as Mothra, Kuromi as Mechagodzilla, and more. That naturally turns into a 15-question Godzilla trivia challenge where Joe discovers Godzilla can apparently fly and finishes with a spectacular 9/15.Pokémon gets in on the fast-food chaos too with Krispy Kreme's 30th anniversary doughnuts featuring Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Jigglypuff, and collectible cups. Here's What I Would Do begins with an update from Andrea in La Habra after her ancestry test revealed a secret half-sister — and yes, the family tree officially exploded. Then Nate from San Clemente gets offered $15,000 to skip his best friend's Cabo wedding, while Eddie from Redondo Beach discovers his wife's definition of vacation involves spreadsheets, reservations, and an alarming phrase: “8:15 AM leisurely breakfast.”ChaptersDoom Scrolling IntroJust Like Heaven Festival + The StrokesGuitar Center Drum-Off Finals + Bill BurrJimothy the Seattle Mariners rally raccoonGeeking Out Dave Bautista as KratosWelcome to Derry Season 2 Great DepressionLive-action Naruto + Kakashi castingRyan Gosling Ghost RiderPodzilla Hello Kitty x Godzilla Happy MealsGodzilla Trivia Joe scores 9 out of 15Krispy Kreme Pokémon doughnutsHere's What I Would Do Ancestry test follow-up$15,000 to skip a best friend's weddingVacation spreadsheet vs doing absolutely nothingOutro + Doom Scrolling OutroJimothy raccoon, Seattle Mariners, Dave Bautista Kratos, God of War series, Welcome to Derry Season 2, Pennywise, Naruto live action, Charles Melton Kakashi, Ryan Gosling Ghost Rider, Hello Kitty Godzilla, Godzilla trivia, Pokemon Krispy Kreme, ancestry DNA surprise, The Foobar Show

Sorg, Katie Dudas, and Dave Podnar explore an AI pocket pet that grows up with its owner, clues pointing toward camera-equipped Apple AirPods, TikTok's concerning voice-call feature, robots building electric vehicles, changes to YouTube view counts, retro Mario experiments, and more technology news from Pittsburgh. This week's stories and gadgets: Pittsburgh Shootout preview: Sorg and Katie prepare to photograph the independent Formula SAE-style event at Summit Point Motorsports Park after the former Pittsburgh Raceway property was sold for a data center. Hello Kitty x Godzilla Happy Meals: Katie arrives with McDonald's crossover toys and begins the hunt for the complete collection, including Hello Kitty Godzilla, Chococat with SpaceGodzilla, and Kuromi with Mechagodzilla. TikTok voice-call warning: Dave demonstrates how TikTok users can make direct voice calls and explains why parents should review the feature. The calling capability itself may still remain available. See the settings reference used during the show. Drive through Google Street View: Hop Earth turns real-world map data into a browser-based driving game. Sorg attempts to create a Pittsburgh route while discovering that the experimental experience can be demanding on a computer with too many open tabs. ChachiSays Video Game Minute: Ohio is suing Roblox over allegations involving investor disclosures and protections for children. An AI Tamagotchi that grows up: Sweekar is an interactive AI pocket pet that progresses from baby to child, teenager, and adult. Its personality develops according to how its owner interacts with it, and it can recognize people, remember interests, offer reminders, tell stories, use an accompanying app, and wear collectible outfits. Apple's possible camera-equipped AirPods: A video discovered inside a macOS update appears to demonstrate visual intelligence through AirPods. The hosts discuss the possibility of tiny cameras helping users identify objects and places, along with the major privacy questions Apple would need to address. The product remains speculative. AllTrails Hidden Tracks: Katie highlights Hidden Tracks from AllTrails, a collection of crowdsourced alternatives to heavily visited national parks and trails. Fandom becomes a business: A creator turned a niche idea involving Dungeon Crawler Carl-themed commentary and cosplay into a successful subscription project. (#351) Fashion isn't superficial. It's spell work. This week, Zoey sits down with celebrity stylist Lo VonRumpf. Lo walks us through his own journey with style and self expression: a love letter to the five-year-old with the Hello Kitty bag. That kid is now the man dressing some of the most recognizable people on the planet.Style, it turns out, was never just fabric for Lo. It was protection. It was survival. He walks us through fashion as manifestation – a way of becoming who you're meant to be one outfit at a time. Zoey pulls Lo's numerology into the mix too, (a birthday number 3 with a double 8 life path and destiny number), tying those numbers straight into who he is and how he moves through the world. They go behind the curtain of the entertainment industry, into the real fear that comes with fame, and into how he's managed to stay grounded through all of it.In this episode we're talking about:00:00 Welcome back to The Higher Self Hotline!04:18 Little Lo and Style Origins11:49 Bullying Resilience and Empathy22:29 Breaking Into Celebrity Styling32:58 Style Numbers and Justice35:16 Fear of Fame43:27 Power and Authenticity53:03 Fashion as ManifestationStay in touch with Lo:InstagramTikTok

Hour 1: In conclusion, The World Cup ruled. Congratulations, Spain. Vinnie has mild thoughts on the halftime show. How much money do the teams make for winning? Sarah thinks the game could use lions. Vinnie passed his big test! Plus, he's doing hard-hitting journalism this morning with two contradicting stories: Santa Fe is the best, but New Mexico is the worst. Hour 2: Let's catch up on TV! Sarah and Matty are loving House of the Dragon, but Bob is over it. Big Brother has kicked off. Anya Taylor Joy's new show isn't horrible. Matty is watching ‘Little House on the Prarie'… lol. Sarah got totally scammed by AI. Can you guess the most watched seasons of Netflix in the last 4 years? Speaking of Tucker, Sarah is playing matchmakers with Marci. Plus, the biggest story of last week has been solved - supposedly. Hour 3: The first ‘Avengers: Doomsday' trailer is here. Robert Downey Jr is back, but Iron Man isn't. ‘The Odyssey' had a tremendous opening weekend. ‘Moana' is disappointing after its second weekend. Sorry, The Rock. Is he joining this list of celebrities whose careers are hanging on by a thread? Messi crying is in the news. Vinnie reopens the lettuce controversy. More to come. What would you do for a Mountain Dew? Not much. America's taste in ice cream is vanilla. BTW, Vinnie is afraid of sharks. Hour 4: Evanescence is in town today! Will they ever be able to top that big hit? It's Hello Kitty night at The Valkyries. Flock of Seagulls are at the Castro Theatre. Speaking of music, Apple is raising their prices. Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo already finalized their divorce. Willy Nelson in a turtleneck? Cigarettes are cool - Sarah is quitting. World cup travelers are sharing what they liked about America. Grab a taco, it's not so bad here! Plus, the great return of How Old Is That Guy?!

Terminal throws readers right into a chaotic, violent world. When you were building the first issue, how did you approach onboarding readers without giving too much away? The book opens with some striking and surreal imagery, especially the eye and the idea of Maculox. What was the origin of that concept, and how central is it to the larger mythology? There's a clear tension between evolution and destruction running through the story. How did you want to frame that conflict without falling into a simple good versus evil dynamic? The first issue makes some bold narrative choices in terms of expectations around who the story might follow. Without getting into spoilers, should readers expect that kind of unpredictability to be a core part of the series? Robert and Joe, how does your collaboration work on a project like this? Are you breaking story together, dividing scripts, or building off each other's strengths in a specific way? Andy, the character designs, especially on the more villainous side, feel really eclectic and distinct. What were your inspirations when developing the look of this world and its characters? There's a bit of a “hidden world” structure here, where a regular person is pulled into something much bigger. What drew you to that kind of setup, and how do you keep it feeling fresh? The series feels like it has big, long-term potential, but also a very focused central idea. Is the plan for Terminal to be a long-running series, or are you working toward a more defined endpoint? For all three of you, what was the moment in developing Terminal where you realized this was something special or different from other superhero books you've worked on or read?

400 Moo Deng Neil the Seal Comic Con Doug Brode Shelli InterviewDoom Scrolling IntroThe Foos made it to 400 episodes. Joe and Steph celebrate with VMC cocktails, reflect on 8 years of The Foobar Show, and explain why some older episodes have disappeared from platforms over time. No huge blowout, no fake promises — just 400 episodes, a toast, and the usual chaos. The animal kingdom takes over the top of the show: Moo Deng officially turns 2, proving that the internet's favorite pygmy hippo is still the queen of slippery rage, bouncy pork energy, and conservation awareness. Then Neil the Seal finally takes his 2,200-pound chaotic ass back into the ocean after weeks of lounging around Tasmania, blocking roads, flattening signs, and refusing to respect anything vertical.Joe and Steph also explain why the podcast has been spotty lately: life, work, band stuff, Steph's Sunday schedule, and the massive backyard facelift happening because Steph volunteered the house for her brother's baby shower. There's also some Medieval Times talk because sometimes you just need dinner, jousting, horses, and giant beer steins.Geeking Out starts with San Diego Comic-Con: they didn't get badges, of course, but there's still plenty happening outside the convention — themed cafes, Paramount at the Lodge, Hello Kitty, Magic: The Gathering Marvel Super Heroes, Star Trek experiences, and all the badge-free chaos that makes downtown San Diego worth visiting during Comic-Con week. They also hit LA Comic Con tickets going on sale, with the convention returning October 30 through November 1 and guests already including Aaron Paul, Dean Norris, and performers from K-Pop Demon Hunters. Then it's long-awaited movie news: Legend of the White Dragon finally has a release date. The Jason David Frank-led, Power Rangers-adjacent action movie arrives August 28, and the Foos have been waiting years for this one.Avatar fans get love too: Aang: The Last Airbender is coming to Paramount+ on July 25 as a movie featuring an older Aang and the gang trying to save the world again. Joe and Steph revisit why the original Avatar series still holds up as one of the best animated shows ever made — adult themes, perfect pacing, emotional stakes, and Appa trauma included.Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey also enters the chat, with Matt Damon as Odysseus and a massive cast including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal. Practical ships, real locations, giant crowds, IMAX cameras, Greek mythology, and enough complicated storytelling to make Nolan feel right at home. The big feature this week is an interview with returning guest Doug Brode, storyboard/concept artist and author of the Ship saga and the Shelli synthetic crime series. Doug talks about Shelli: R-Evolution, why it is not actually the final Shelli book, how the series has grown, the challenge of writing sequels that stand alone, AI and synthetics, keeping villains understandable, writing in silence, short chapters, and why Shelli's world keeps expanding. He also shares that the first Shelli book is getting a 99-cent Kindle BookBub deal starting July 15.
