They where later joined by a third member Vilix Their main focus is to layer a foundation in the Rome Techno scene and create a movement which eventually will spread outside the borders of Rome. It's December and it's time for the last Analogue podcast of the year !! For this one we have something special for you. We are very happy to presnt you one of Japan's best Techno exports, Takaaki Itoh ! While you listen his exclusive 1 hr mix of 33 (!!!) tracks that he did for us, read some more info abt him... Bio: Takaaki was quickly impressed and intrigued by the new sound of Techno, that hit Japan hard in the early 1990s. It was something he had never heard before. In 1994 Takaaki began to organize his own techno parties in his home of northern Japan. By providing an interesting lineups, his parties quickly became a success. In 1996, having decided that it was time to start making his own tracks, Takaaki Itoh emerged to purchase the vital instruments to begin production. After sending out three finished projects to various labels, Majesty from US and Electracom from UK was fortunate enough to put Takaaki‘s first material out. This moment was something he will never forget, as he was finally able to hear his own music on vinyl. Several releases followed with Electracom as his tracks began to appear in magazine DJ charts in well known DJs from around the world. In 2000, Takaaki Itoh made his European DJ debut in Slovakia. People recognized his own style. Later he was becoming recognized as Japan's most underground and respected techno DJ. As of 2001 he was getting offers to perform at large clubs and festivals all over Europe, including Cosmic Trip and Svojsice in the Czech Republic, The Darkside in England, MTW in Germany, Awakenings and Reactor in Holland, Mayday and Sziget in Hungary, La Real and Code in Spain, U.Club and Boomerang in Slovakia, Projekt in Belgium, as well as events in Brasil, Columbia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Portugal, Serbia. Slovenia.. Takaaki Itoh took the next step and with Brano of Standa started his own label Wols. Our guest for this week is none other than Mark Morris(@mark_morris). Originally from Naples, Italy, Mark is now based in the capital city for techno, namely Berlin. Mark had an early debut with music and has kept a certain standard to his work ever since. He is the head of his own label Ketra Records which can be held responsible for releasing mindblowing EP’s from various artist. In this episode we can expect a “No Bullshit” approach to a raw techno sound interestingly mixed together. Q&A: Q: How has the techno scene in Italy influenced you as a Dj and producer A: The techno scene in my town was always one of the most active in Italy. When I was young, artists such Marco Carola, Gaetek, Rino Cerrone and many more were the best techno djs in the scene and they influenced of course my idea of techno music. Q: What made you decide to move to Berlin? A: I decide to move in Berlin after living in Spain. Berlin was the last step for me to really understand the techno world. Berlin helped me to find the right way in my sound. This was one of the most important moments of my career. Q: In this mix you are running the tempo at 135 bpm, which is some what unorthodox. How would you describe your style of playing? A: As I mentioned, my techno vision is influenced by the old school. I love to mix hardtechno as I love the industrial way and the dark atmosphere. That's more or less the best description of my sound: fast, dance-floor, heavy & dark. Q: What inspires you as a producer? A: As producer I'm really complicated. Normally I don't like to have inspiration as other producers. I Love for sure artists such Surgeon and Regis, but maybe the best inspiration for me are my own artists as Logotech, Future 16, Unam Zetineb and my wife Kata Mercado. I think the best inspiration come from those who are close to me. Q: Any comments about upcoming gigs or releases? A: For sure the last EP on Mano Recordings (label by me & Zetineb) with the remixes from the legendary ESPLENDOR GEOMETRICO & CASUAL VIOLENCE. This is one of the best releases I have done so far. I will soon be out with the next Mano with a remix by ONTAL. The next gigs are a b2b with Kata in Bologna (Italy). I also have a new project I started with my collab.
