Outline and Show NotesShow Title: AI Beyond the Talk with Dr. Rachelle Dené PothPower Quote: “We don't need to be the expert”Teaser:I recorded today's interview on July 8 and it's just a week since I was at the ISTE-ASCD national conference in Orlando and ISTE is a very tech focused, educational organization and as you can imagine so much of the talk at the conference was about AI to be honest I'm feel like I'm a bit over AI I'm getting deluge with AI generated emails in my business and seeing stuff on LinkedIn that is clearly AI generated and it just feels like it's making part of my world of more fake was less authentic and less human centered and yet AI is a useful tool and it's not going away so I wanted to have someone on the show who could help us navigate AI and look at it specifically for the role of the assistant principal.Sponsor Spot 1:I'd like to thank Kaleidoscope Adventures for sponsoring today's show. Lots of companies can help you organize class trips, but Kaleidoscope helps you organize adventures – because isn't that what student trips should be? What are you celebrating today? Is there a story that will help listeners understand why you are doing what you do?Questions/Topics/PromptsCan we begin with clarifying the difference between AI in education and AI Education? In a May 28th blog post, you wrote, “What I have learned from working with school Task Forces across the country is that they have had many conversations around AI, screen time, and tech use. They have explored the possibilities and understand the urgency with these topics, but they also have a similar question. What do we do now? And this is where I believe that leadership matters most.”I'd like to begin there. Actually, not with the what but with the why – why do we need to act and why do we need to act now? What's the danger of not getting this right? You advocate for a systems approach. Please take us through that.Sponsor Spot 2:I want to thank IXL for sponsoring this podcast…Everyone talks about the power of data-driven instruction. But what does that actually look like? Look no further than IXL, the ultimate online learning and teaching platform for K to 12. IXL gives you meaningful insights that drive real progress, and research can prove it. What happened next, as described to us by Claire in this episode, really captures her natural humour, her fierce competitive instincts on the runway and the part that her Christian faith plays in every aspect of her life.Photo: Gold medallist Claire Bryant of Team United States celebrates winning the Women's Long Jump Final on day three of the World Athletics Indoor Championships Nanjing 2025 at Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Sports Park on March 23, 2025 in Nanjing, China.(Credit: Getty Images)

They recap Brad's strong play, including an even-par 72 and consistently low rounds, while Greg grades his season a “C,” describing near misses, a rain-delayed round, and an errant tee shot that reached a parking lot before he salvaged a net score. Anna Cockrell won 400 hurdles silver at the Paris Olympic Games. In her event, the build-up had focussed on the head-to-head between Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Femke Bol. It was the defending champion and world record holder against the reigning world champion.Anna was aware of that conversation but also knew that she was in the form of her life. In the finishing straight, she passed Bol to claim the silver medal behind McLaughlin-Levrone. She didn't believe it until she saw her name come up on the board in the stadium. When it did, the time next to Anna's name was the fourth fastest in history. The road to the Olympic podium was difficult. Going back to 2019, Anna was ready to quit track and field. She was carrying the weight of her own expectations and everyone else's. Her college coach saw she was struggling with depression and sent her to see a therapist. A lot of self-discovery and trial and error followed as she began rebuilding. In 2021, the same year that her brother won the Superbowl, Anna made her first Olympic team. She reached the final in Tokyo, but finished down the field before being disqualified for running out of her lane. The transition from college athlete to the pro ranks was next, and it wasn't easy. In 2022, her first year as a professional, she didn't make the world championship team and got injured as well. It was during the 2023 season that she and her coach started figuring things out. Anna finished fifth at that year's worlds – learning lessons she'd carry into Olympic year and onto the podium in Paris. We discuss the prospect of winning gold at a home Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028. Some of her friends have already bought their tickets for her final at the LA Games – Anna says they know the schedule better than she does! Anna's family, her parents and her siblings, have helped to shape her – that really shines through in this episode. Also listen out for when the Kardashians get a mention – a first for the Warm Up Track!Photo: Silver medalist Anna Cockrell of Team United States celebrates on the podium during the Women's 400m Hurdles medal ceremony on day fourteen of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Stade de France on August 09, 2024 in Paris, France. Dr. Bill Evans admits the post was rage bait. But the science underneath it isn't.Dominic opens by asking about Evans' claim that you can run faster with low testosterone, and Evans cheerfully cops to baiting the testosterone crowd before laying out the actual evidence. Two things can be true at once: train hard for years and your T drops, and your performance keeps climbing anyway. He walks through Anthony Hackney's overtraining research, the 80-kilometer-per-week marker where androgen deficiency starts showing up, and the diffusion-distance argument for why the best marathoners in the world aren't carrying much muscle. Then the necessary caveat: performance and health are not the same conversation, and bone, libido, and mental health all sit on the other side of that ledger. From there it opens up. Evans gives a full explainer on how a study actually gets published and how to tell a credible one from a headline, including where pharma funding does and doesn't compromise the work. He and Dominic get into whether anyone can be an Olympian, whether mindset is trainable (Evans uses his own OCD and exposure therapy as the case study), and the Joe Burrow story about a nine-year-old who didn't feel pressure. The back half is rapid-fire practical: how to warm up for a 5K and why the pickups should be near mile pace, why your treadmill is probably lying to you, the RPE scale as a free lactate meter, the bicarb lotion study he's running this fall, his unsponsored supplement stack, and the one thing every cross country runner should do this season.Tap into the Dr. Bill Evans Special. If you enjoy the podcast, please consider following us on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and giving us a five-star review! The Warm Up Track 2026: Daniel Stahl – Tokyo, towels and winning in the rain

Sportsworld

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 7, 2026 49:02

Sweden's Daniel Stahl grew up following the NHL and he started out playing ice hockey, but discus thrower Ricky Bruch was always young Daniel's biggest hero.Bruch was like a rockstar, a real cultural icon as well as a sportsman. His admiration for Ricky, and the fact that you can't play ice hockey all year round, helped him to find track and field. Mum and Dad were throwers too, so he had the genes to succeed when he finally picked up the discus.Daniel wasn't an overnight success as a discus thrower, and he explains why the journey to the top took time. But when he got there, the medals were gold. Doha in 2019 was the first of his three world titles but, it was all so overwhelming, that Daniel believes he wouldn't have won the Tokyo Olympic Games if they had gone ahead as scheduled in 2020. Instead, when those Games did take place, he was better prepared mentally to deal with everything.A second world title followed and then, on the final night of the 2025 World Championships, he claimed his third. It was special for so many reasons. He was back in Tokyo in the same stadium where he'd won the Olympics, but this time with a crowd. In terms of the night itself, it rained and it rained and it rained. In the end, everything else had finished. It was the last night of the Championships and even the closing ceremony had ended, but the discus throwers were still out there. What was it like dealing with all of the delays? Watching as the volunteers tried and failed to mop up the rain from the throwing circle using a seemingly endless supply of towels? Daniel watched it like it was a comedy show, knowing he was ready after preparing for those conditions for months. We also discuss the prospect of completing the career grand slam. He's won the Olympics and the Worlds, but the European title is the one that's missing. Finally, did his hero Ricky Bruch ever give him any advice?Photo: Daniel Stahl of Team Sweden competes during the Men's Discus Throw Final on day nine of the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025 at National Stadium on September 21, 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. Darin Decker returns to the PricePlow Podcast for Episode #228, his fifth appearance on the show and his first since becoming VP of Sales at Alpha Lion. He joins Mike and Ben for a full walkthrough of the biggest SuperHuman relaunch in years: five reformulated pre-workouts, a rebrand from black to red, and the debut of a new ingredient called Tensia. Alpha Lion built its name on SuperHuman, and starting July 31, the entire sub-brand gets a V2 treatment. SuperHuman Original, Pump, Extreme, Jacked, and Burn all return with updated formulas, a new Superhuman Energy System, and packaging built around the idea that red means activation. Jacked adds PeptiPump and the novel probiotic-derived Tensia alongside its existing PeptiStrong content, while Burn stays untouched because, as Darin puts it, you don’t fix something that isn’t broken. Decker also walks through Alpha Lion’s pricing overhaul, its GNC weight-management win with the Burn2O system, and why the brand is leaning into retail instead of chasing Meta ad spend. Episode 3477: Ashley Lawrie explores whether eating more like our ancestors could improve modern health, examining the evidence behind the paleolithic diet and its effects on metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular risk, and cancer prevention. Rather than promoting a strict eating philosophy, the article highlights how choosing more natural, minimally processed foods may support better energy, focus, body composition, and long-term health. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://freeformfitness.ca/why-you-should-always-warm-up-before-your-personal-training-sessions-free-sample-warm-up-download/ Quotes to ponder: "Our ancestors would have also gotten their fats from animals and fatty-foods like nuts and seeds." "Studies are suggesting it could be useful for improving the health parameters of a few different populations." "Compare millions of years to a few thousand years of using tools and science and you'll find that our genes have spent way more time thriving on natural sources, than they have using protein bars and margarine as a fuel source." I've been wearing Altra shoes for years - I absolutely love the roomy toe box that leaves extra room for my feet to move more naturally.  And these shoes look distinct compared to other shoes: they're shaped like actual feet. They can give your feet just what they need, especially if you want a roomier toebox because of bunions or a hammer toe, or just wanting more comfort. Altra shoes aren't just zero-drop anymore, either. They have 4mm heel-toe drop models and I've found that this is my personal sweet spot. I love shoes that have between 4 and 8mm so the FWD Via 2 are quickly becoming my favorite pair. And plus, I do actually like the 0 drop Altras for walking and casual wear - like a quick trip to the grocery store. They're a training tool to help me build foot strength, promote a more natural gait, and give my foot the room it needs to expand naturally.  I've partnered with Altra to get new customers 10% off your next order. LMNT's products have some of the highest sodium concentrations that you can find. Anybody who runs a lot knows that sodium, as well as other electrolytes like magnesium and potassium, are essential to our performance and how we feel throughout the day.
