TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ IKAAR Ikaar's passion towards club culture ignited at a very young age: his journey first began on the dance floor, where his love for underground music evolved into a deep fascination for collecting and playing vinyls. Over the years, Ikaar honed his craft by navigating into the boundaries of sound exploration and experimentation, in search for his signature sound. His record collection grew bigger, and his sound became increasingly refined, creating a unique blend of raw techno cuts and 90s-rooted energetic sonorities. October 2022 marked a pivotal moment for his musical development, as he became Resident DJ of Milan-based institution CLOSER, where he had the chance of sharing the DJ booth with heavyweight artists such as Answer Code Request, Takaaki Itoh, The Lady Machine, Fadi Mohem and more - cementing his place in the heart of Italy's underground scene. Active for nearly three decades, Japanese DJ and producer Takaaki Itoh has been carving out a niche truly his own in the realm of deep techno. Pumping out multi-sensory DJ tools for breakfast, Itoh champions a sound highly dynamic yet infused with the kind of minute textural work and layers of modular complexity one can not but marvel at. Punching in with a wild two hours of electro-magnetic hardware funk and entrancingly immersive brainwaves, the Sendai-based wizard elevates us to a whole new world where hi-tech submersion and atmospheric club music reign supreme. A work of art.
Our next entry to the Four Four Local Selection welcomes 'i decided' for the 232nd edition of the series. Specialising in all things loopy and hypnotic techno the mix is carefully crafted from start to finish and is filled with spooky textures, dreary atmospheres and sensual selections. i decided (Cormac Farley, formerly known as Farlo) is an upcoming producer and DJ from North Dublin. He draws heavy inspiration from the sound of late 90s and early 00s techno while incorporating elements of hypnotic, loopy and dynamic atmospheric sounds akin to soundtracks from the golden age of classic sci-fi and horror films which adds an interesting angle and approach to both his mixes and productions. Following his sophomore release on Tremors Glasgow-based label Oscillator One, he has garnered support for his tracks from artists globally such as Egotot, Takaaki Itoh, Radical Softness, Franz Jäger, Alarico, and more. i decided has found themselves part of the Irish label, event and mix series HRLA which has showcased a range of fantastic music through their label releases and DJs through their events and their HRLA selects mix series. They have broadcasted a selection of local and international artists since their inception back in 2022 such as Thelma, XXXX In Stereo, RAAB and more across a variety of mediums. This entry to the Local Selection is an exceptional showcase of i decided's sound and musical ethos at play, as he continually builds the energy of the recording over the hour with a fine selection of loopy and hypnotic rhythms. The mix displays i decided's ability to emit tension and release throughout the recording resulting in a rich listening experience, especially for those who find themselves listening to techno regularly. i decided ---------------------- SC: @user-150081317-290969504 IG: www.instagram.com/cormacfarlo/ Four Four Magazine --------------------------- FB: www.facebook.com/FOURFOURDANCE/ IG: www.instagram.com/fourfourmagazine/ Web: www.fourfourmag.com/

We premiere an all Irish techno weapon from Rustal with Jon Hussey on remix duties for the newly formed Circuit Structure Records label curated by Offtrack. Jon's remix is pure and pounding broken techno at it's very best, hypnotic synth lines lay across hammering bass drum and percussion hits to brutal effect. Simple but effective the concept has been in label owner Offtrack's mind & in the making for the last two years. Circuit – A synonym for Loop. Loop driven techno of many structures. All things bleepy with a hint of the sound from the 90s. Rustal's sound is heavily influenced by authoritative techno figures, wether it be Claude Young, Steve Rachmad, Shifted or Moritz von Oswald, the Dublin native is known for extensively delving into classic and contemporary techno sounds. Peter's obsession for cavernous techno experimentation has landed him in some elite clubs, cities, parties and played alongside some of the world's finest. Jon Hussey creates expertly crated techno, that is categorically deep, rolling and packed with intricate rhythmic touches, but when speaking about Jon, categorising it is utterly pointless, as his evolution as a DJ and producer is incessant. Jon has released music on Irish imprints Earwiggle, Delinquent Delivery and RLSD. His collaborations with the late Stuey Lyons [R.I.P.] are thought to be some of his best work, receiving widespread notoriety and support from some of the leading techno DJs in the world. Jon also notably had his work on RLSD remixed by Japanese techno icon Takaaki Itoh. Jon's remix is dripping with Slovakian techno flavour, similar to the sounds of the early 2000's that were championed by DJ Boss, Bas Mooy, Jeroen Liebregts and more. The is a golden & dynamic loop, thrusting over pounding low end and sharp percussive grooves. This is simply beautiful. Straight from the 1990's Japanese underground scene, Takaaki Itoh is one of the most influential artists in the modern labyrinthic sound approach. Raw waves and repetitive tunes create obscure masterpieces. We're excited to share his masterful presentation from the Blank Code event Sector 007 in Detroit on October 22nd, 2022. The set [...]
Fashion photographer by day, DJ by night. Vinyl lover and part of DUEL collective. Despite short time on the scene, he is regularly booked by the most recognizable clubs in Poland. He had the chance to support artists such as The Lady Machine, Takaaki Itoh, Psyk, Keith Carnal or Etapp Kyle. His sound is hypnotic and deep. We have the pleasure of hosting a live club recording from Jon Hussey at The Sugar Club for RLSD Records. Jon need's little introduction, as he has been a key cog in the Dublin techno machine for many years, and boasts legendary status in Irish dance music's framework. Jon showcases why he's earned fabled status as a DJ with a trip through various moods, as Jon intertwines jacking grooves, deep and windings atmospheres and rolling bass swarms wrapped up into an hour of techno funk. Jon Hussey‘s name carries weight within Irish techno, from playing alongside some of the biggest names in the industry such as Jeff Mills, Joey Beltram, The Advent, Neil Landstrumm, Thomas P Heckmann and many many more to playing across Europe in some of the desired clubs. Jon has frequently played in Berlin over the years, and notably played alongside Mark Broom in the infamous Tresor. Jon creates expertly crated techno, that is categorically deep, rolling and packed with intricate rhythmic touches, but when speaking about Jon, categorising it is utterly pointless, as his evolution as a DJ and producer is incessant. Jon has released music on Irish imprints Earwiggle, Delinquent Delivery and RLSD. His collaborations with the late Stuey Lyons [R.I.P.] are thought to be some of his best work, receiving widespread notoriety and support from some of the leads techno DJs in the world. Jon also notably had his work on RLSD remixed by Japanese techno icon Takaaki Itoh. There's something about a Jon Hussey mix that seem's instantly identifiable , which on the surface makes no sense at all as Jon has an extremely eclectic style, but his mixes and DJ set's have a real charm and originality that doesn't come by too often, and they're particularly distinguishable. This mix is no different, as Jon skips through a multitude of moods and avenues, letting tracks breathe at the right moments, and smashing the accelerator when needs be. Jon hammers through slamming grooves and intertwines warpy rollers alongside classic jacking cuts. Live recordings seem to be a little less common than they were a couple of years ago, maybe because there's an enormous amount of pressure for DJs to cough up podcasts every few months, which takes focus from live recordings. This is a raw live recording that's a captivating representation of a real DJ at work, redirecting the vibe at the pinnacle moment's and changing mixing style's based on the room. This is a real treat. We premiere a track from techno legend today, Paul Birken. Birken has put together an analogue techno bomb for Gombocs first release on wax. Paul Birken has been putting out wonky techno classic's for the best part of 25 years. Release's such as ‘Speaker Freakin” & ‘Surfin' Superior' helped launch his 12 inches into the hands of some of techno's most coveted and technical DJ's. Paul still receives heavy support from the likes of Sunil Sharpe, Jerome Hill & Bas Mooy. More recent releases on ‘Mord', ‘Earwiggle' & ‘Don't' have helped solidify Birken's name to a newer generation. Birken still holds down his classic style of hectic, machine driven style of bleep techno. This release marks the first release on 12 inch, for Argentinian label, Gomboc. The label have been throwing out, high octane techno since 2017 and have been home to artists such as Lars Huismann, Nico Moreno, Umwelt, D. Carbone, Joe Farr, Takaaki Itoh, Lag & more. Birken shares the release with some of techno's most influential names for the Gombocs first vinyl release. The release will be home to Thomas P. Heckmann, Jerome Hill, Martyn Hare & Paul Birken himself. “Four legendary artists that influenced not only us but probably thousands of people. With their own signature sound, each track resembles a unique style. From Acid, to Rave and just pure machinery communication.” Birken's track, Poaching Pickled Parcels, is a distorted piece of machine paradise. Screaming synths lye at the forefront of the track while a pounding a kick drum does its damage. The track is complete with shuffling analogue percussion that simmers in and out of sections of the track. A true hectic piece of hectic dance music, from the king of mayhem. This week we have the pleasure to host Unknown Movements' founder Other Form. Other Form is a techno producer originally from London, now based in Bristol, releasing music on Unterwegs (DE), Dissonanze Recordings (IT), Soptik (DE), and his own label Unknown Movements. His latest EP ‘Each to Our Own Divide’, released at the end of 2020, earned a wave of support from the likes of Ben Klock, Svreca, Takaaki Itoh, Stephanie Sykes, and Amotik.About the mix: "This is the first mix I’ve assembled in 2021, and is intended to be a celebration of all the incredible music that came out in 2020, especially the latter half. The inspiration from these tracks has offered light in an otherwise pretty dark year, and I hope they’ll offer further inspiration as we take on the challenges of this one. In particular, I wanted to showcase some of my favourite output from the South Korean labels Oslated and Huinali and Artscope, some gems from Arcing Seas’ in_vurt compilation, recent highlights from Edit Select, and two tracks from my favourite release of the year: Emily Jeanne’s Public by Default. And, as well as a few other recent highlights — including a just-released track from Kameliia’s debut EP — I’ve also worked in some tracks from my own label’s last two releases of 2020. Sarf is one of those artists who stay true to their own values regardless to the trends. Since his first steps in electronics, he has shaped progressively his own approach to djing and producing. In 2015, time has come for the Spanish artist to open his own lab Analog section, a name that purposely emphasizes his dedication to the physical aspect of electronics. In addition to his own outputs, his imprint has hosted so far the most cutting edge and well established producers around such as Alexey Volkov, Joton, Pulse one, Takaaki Itoh and his partner in crime Kalter Ende. Whether through his own material or his sets, Sarf transmits a complex vision of Techno: dark, mental and percussive yet with subtle industrial elements. His dj skills got quickly noticed in Spain as his sound has already hit clubs like Fabrik or Family. No doubt about seeing him massively impacting the scene in the near future. -- 070: Sarf from Madrid, Spain Sarf @ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/analog-section Sarf @ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sarf.analog Sarf @ Resident Advisor: https://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/sarf

Starting out in Bogota, where she cut her teeth holding down residencies at Club BarC, Cinema and La Sala whilst performing across her native country’s different cities, Adriana Lopez moved to Spain in 2003 where she quickly made a name for herself throughout Europe and beyond. Upon her arrival in Barcelona, she also launched her very own platform, Grey Report, which has gone on to release music by artists like Developer, NX1, Takaaki Itoh, Lakej, W.I.R.E. and Temudo & Nørbak. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Español: Con una polifacética carrera como DJ, productora y técnico de sonido, @adrianalopez se ha convertido en una de las artistas de techno con mayor proyección a nivel internacional y una pionera y figura clave de la escena electrónica de Colombia. Vinyl and it’s sound has always been the love of the Wroclaw artist Aksamit. In her compositions, you can find hypnotic sounds of ambient, deep techno and tribal. A Wrocław DJ, a resident at Projekt Pralnia, a founder of Affekt and Velvet Vortex, is definitely rising talent in the polish techno scene. Her love of vinyl led her to the Berlin club Tresor, in which she played during the iconic Klubnacht & All You Need Is Ears. Currently, she has performed in most Polish clubs and festivals - Wisłoujście, Revive, Instytut, LAS Festival, Kaskada Festival and Audioriver Festival. She has also performed outside of Poland - Germany, Spain, Andorra, Denmark, Ireland and the UK. She recently won the Polish Club Stage award in the Munoludy plebiscite in the Discovery of the Year 2018 category. Messiahwaits is an electronic music producer raised in Seoul (South Korea), spent a solid amount of time in Berlin, where he honed his production skills and started to produce his own music, During his time in Berlin, Messiahwaits worked closely with German-based record label, GND Records, on which he released his debut track "Digital Spring" in 2014, followed by two EPs, "Flashforward" and "Paranoid State", and he shows no signs of stopping. Messiahwaits released his new remix in early 2017 and released his new original tracks on two local compilations on both September and November in 2017. His very first acid track, ‘Journey to Mars’ on Ameniia records was featured alongside wonderful artists in Fiedel’s Berghain 08 mix which was recorded live in Berghain and released by Ostgut Ton on January 26, 2018. Messiahwaits released his new 4-track solo EP, “BLACKENED” in September worldwide both in the 12” vinyl and digital formats. The “BLACKENED” Remixed EP (incl. Takaaki Itoh, AWB, Hydrangea remixes) released on 24th February, 2019. And, the feedbacks of remixed EP were overwhelmed by many great producers. His new remix of Skóll was released alongside great artists such as Hydrangea, Antonio Vázquez, and Sheol in June. Approaching music as an art form rather than falling into genres and stereotypes, Messiahwaits takes his audience on a musical journey filled with droning atmospheres, repetitive jacking rhythms and a dark, disturbed aura that never fails to send the dance floor into a frenzy. LIVE RECORDING VOLNOST, SEOUL Whether doused in the grit of his hometown Glasgow, or expanded by the widescreen vistas of his current base, Barcelona, the music of Darren Roberts has asserted it´s uniqueness within his preferred form of expression, rolling and tunneling techno, strong on propulsion and atmosphere. Naming the project Deepbass was a strong statement of intent and commitment to a sound of his own, from the start. That he has in fact established it and remains on a path of constant perfection of it, is indicative of Darren´s personality and talent. This consistent path has seen Deepbass put out records on labels such as Edit Select Records, Aconito Records, Dynamic Refection and Soma, all the while enjoying a steady rise in recognition both with audience and peers. Along the way, he found in Italian producer Andrea Deplano, most widely known as Ness, a perfect foil for his vision of techno, with both collaborating on releases which displayed uncanny compatibility in sound between them. This commitment to the deeper, hypnotic side of techno is further proved by his own label, Informa Records, where releases by names like Reggy Van Oers, nAX_Acid, Claudio PRC, Takaaki Itoh, Ness, NX1, Hironori Takahashi are constant highlights for those who crave expansive and engrossing soundscapes. What stands out from his production and performances is that Deepbass creates something identifably his own, but refuses to ever be limited by it or to get comfortable repeating just one thing. Instead, he takes what´s already his own and streamlines it, sharpens it and nuances it. The origin and destination might be constant, but the path it takes and how the journey feels is ever-changing. Larix is undoubtedly one of the most significant artists of techno. DJ, producer and owner of two labels: Stereophonic Recordings and Brainwash on the scene more than a decade, He has firmly established his own distinctive style. Drawing from industrial, dark often broken sounds techno Larix's sets are dynamic, consistent and at the same time surprising. He plays the most important events in Poland Of particular note is his set during the festival Audio City in 2013 alongside the Xhin. He also had the opportunity to perform beyond the borders of our country in Tresor Berlin - the birthplace of techno. After several years of DJing he decided to learn how to produce his own music. His works are issued inter alia: Shout, Naked Lunch, Elektrax, Achromatiq, Phobiq, 069 Techno and in its own label Stereophonic Recordings. In 2011, he was recognized by Richie Hawtin in competition for the remix of Plastikman, He was one of five finalists and his remix was released under the banner of M_nus In 2013 Larix started his second music label called Brainwash, where he releases his own tracks on vinyl. Y ahí vuelve a aparecer Bruno...

For Erratic Podcast 95 we are thrilled to present to you an outstanding contribution by one of Japan's most senior and leading techno figures, TAKAAKI ITOH. He's been honing his sound and style for close to two decades and running his own label, Owls, for the better part of this time. In 2012 he came out with an exceptional EP, Slicer/Spacer, taking the techno community by storm, followed with equally robust works across Planet Rhythm, Modularz, and Grey Report. Known for his fast, hard, and layered style of mixing, his contribution for us is a much deeper, highly cerebral, journey through the darker and introspective realms of his modern sound. Needles to say, we absolutely love it. And we are confident you will too. Here it goes folks, for the next hour this is Takaaki in mix. Sit back and enjoy! www.discogs.com/artist/7766-Takaaki-Itoh www.residentadvisor.net/dj/takaakiitoh www.twitter.com/TAKAAKI_ITOH - Erratic is comprised of a small team of passionate curators hosting proper Techno parties in New York City. www.ErraticNYC.com | www.fb.com/ErraticNYC

K1971 PODCAST - TAKAAKI ITOH Techno hit Japan hard in the early 1990s. Surprised, Takaaki Itoh was quickly impressed and intrigued with this new sound. The unique style of beats revealed the gateway to a new world of underground music in Japan - something he had never heard before. Surprise slowly gave way to addiction when Takaaki Itoh was exposed to the sounds of such artists and labels as Underground Resistance, Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Hardfloor, Sven Väth, Harthouse, Warp and Rising High. This was his sound, and deciding he just couldn't get enough of it, in 1994 Takaaki began to organize his own techno parties in his home of northern Japan. By providing a fantastic lineup, his parties quickly became a success. In 1996, having decided that it was time to start making his own tracks, Takaaki Itoh emerged to purchase the vital instruments to begin production. After sending out three finished projects to various labels, Electracom UK was fortunate enough to put Takaaki's first material out. This moment was something he will never forget, as he was finally able to hear his own music on vinyl. Several releases followed with Electracom as his tracks began to appear in magazine DJ charts in well known DJs from around the world. In 2000, Takaaki Itoh made his European debut in Slovakia. People recognized that he had his own style. His Japanese style of techno was pure, unique and underground - nothing that had been heard before in Europe. His reputation and popularity quickly spread all over the continent. He was becoming recognized as Japan's most underground and respected techno DJ.As of 2001 he was getting offers to perform at large clubs and festivals all over Europe, including Cosmic Trip and Svojsice in the Czech Republic, The Darkside in England, MTW in Germany, Awakenings and Reactor in Holland, Mayday and Sziget in Hungary, La Real and Code in Spain, Boomerang in Slovakia, Projekt in Belgium, as well as events in Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Portugal, Serbia. Passion led to success and Takaaki became recognized as the top of the next generation of techno music.By 2005 Takaaki Itoh has released over 50 original productions on many different european labels like Sheep, Tsunami, Warm Up, Theory, MB Selektions, Integrale Muzique, etc. He’s also developed a reputation for remixing globally established techno artists such as Gennaro Le Fosse, Oscar Mulero, Christian Wünsch and more to come.
