Last weekend at the 21st birthday celebrations of Other Voices in Dingle, host Tony Clayton Lea sat down with three of the five acts that took to the stage for this year's IMRO Other Room. How did they get on? Listen in to hear from Galway-born hip-hop/rap artist Celaviedmai, Dingle-native and ex-Walking on Cars frontman Pa Sheehy, and Corey & Fatboy of Ballymun's very-own neo-soul, R&B, jazz, & hip-hop group Bricknasty.
Labhraíonn Pa Sheehy le Seán faoina hEP nua 'The Art Of Disappearing' a chuaigh díreach isteach i Rogha Dheich na Cairte in Éirinn le cúpla seachtain anuas. Insíonn Pa dúinn faoi na hamhráin úra atá cumtha aige, na rudaí a spreag é agus caide mar a mhothaíonn sé bheith ar ais ag eisiúint ceoil agus ag déanamh ceolchoirmeacha. Tugann sé súil siar ar bhuaicphointí óna chuid ama mar phríomhamhránaí Walking On Cars agus mar amhránaí leis féin agus insíonn sé dúinn faoi na pleananna atá aige don bhliain seo chugainn.
In the first ever episode of The Process of Production, we talk to Tim Bran. Perhaps best known for his work producing London Grammar as part of the production duo MyRiot with Roy Kerr, Tim's credits also include Aurora, Halsey, and Walking On Cars amongst many others. We talk about making those London Grammar records, as well as hearing about what it's like working with bona fide legends such as Paul McCartney, Ronnie Wood and Noel Gallagher. Over the course of the pandemic, Tim has perfected his workflow for recording artists remotely - and as we hear, he's learned some fascinating lessons during the process. Click here for a Playlist of Tim's work Click here for Tim's guide for recording a vocalist remotely The Process of Production is presented by Lawrence Diamond and Bob Matthews. Lawrence cut his teeth playing and writing in Indie bands before finding international success and touring the world with his band CITIZENS! During that time he worked with a host of revered producers including Liam Howe, Mark Ralph and Alex Kapranos. Since the band ended in 2016 he's been using that experience to help other artists develop their careers as a writer and producer while continuing to release his own music under various different guises. Bob learned his trade as the producer and multi-instrumentalist in Electronic Pop duo Alpines, whose career spans 3 albums, releases on major and indie record labels, shows with Florence + The Machine, The xx, Emeli Sandé, and a top 20 hit 'Tidal Wave' in collaboration with Sub Focus. In recent years he has turned his focus to producing other acts and has a studio in Chiswick in West London. Dingle, Irlanda. Cinque amici (poi quattro) nel 2010 affittano un cottage per isolarsi dal mondo e iniziare a comporre la loro musica. I Walking on Cars hanno regalato canzoni meravigliose ma anche emozioni forti e ricordi indelebili
Tá an banna ceoil Walking on Cars le scor. Tá deich mbliana caite ar an mbóthar acu agus lucht leanúna ar fuaid an domhain aimsithe acu.
If Kerry is The Kingdom then these Dingle natives are fast becoming music royalty. They released their debut album Everything This Way in 2016 but it feels like they've been here for years. The sophomore album Colours appeared last year to great acclaim and since then they've toured the world. Walking On Cars are one of the hardest working bands in Ireland and it's paid off with a passionate fan-base that reaches from here to Germany, Russia, New Zealand and beyond. And recently their smash hit 'Monster' got picked as the theme song on Netflix show The Stranger. They might travel the world but Kerry is where they are at their happiest and most creative. But, according to Sorcha, Dingle is a very different place at the moment. "Much more quiet. Obviously people are staying at home and there isn't the hustle bustle of tourists" I’ll be jumping on @TodayFM to have a quick chat with @FERGDARCY you can listen in to his show from 2pm today at: https://t.co/PIeOLQFdjQ Sorcha x pic.twitter.com/MUyfv9uuyB — Walking On Cars (@WalkingOnCars) April 7, 2020 Like everyone else in the country they are doing their bit by self-isolating which has led to working on music in a very different style than they'd be accustomed. Sorcha chats to Fergal about being creative in the Covid crisis, superfans, new music on the way, Arcade Fire, being on Netflix and loads more... This podcast has a special surprise at the end. As an isolation session we chose to pick the first live session song 'Speeding Cars' when Walking On Cars performed on the Fergal D'Arcy Show way back in 2016 when the lads were barely out of short pants. Enjoy. Who’s been binge watching 'The Stranger’ on @netflix?? 👀‘Monster’ is on the opening credits 🙌🏼 #thestranger @netflixuk pic.twitter.com/NQC31LfFEW — Walking On Cars (@WalkingOnCars) January 31, 2020

The hardest working band in Ireland are now making some of their best music and their influence continues to grow. Frontman Pa Sheehy tells Fergal that about what they've been up to what is planned and how a mention in a Russian book has now opened up a huge new fanbase! They're music royalty from The Kingdom and play Castlebar tonight supported by the brilliant @MoncrieffMusic Pa from @WalkingOnCars is on the @FERGDARCY show next. 👂👂📻 https://t.co/G2htmvfu9l pic.twitter.com/WsJ9Xukn39 — Today FM (@TodayFM) December 13, 2019

Opening this weekend, Artemisia, A Chicago Theatre presents Chewing on Beckett. Inspired by Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot and Beckett's own aversion to female actors performing in it, this original story, written by Artemisia's own Ed Proudfoot and directed by renowned Chicago director Steve Scott, is part romance, part Mad Max: Fury Road with comedy, tragedy, and the woman's touch that is the trademark of Artemisia thrown in for good measure. Tune in as Tim and Mike welcome Ed Proudfoot into the studio to talk about this new production opening at the Frontier Theatre in Edgewater this weekend. Also join us for the music of Chicago Gaelic Park's Irish Festival with JigJam, The Elders, The Fenians, Lachlan, Socks in the Frying Pan, Screaming Orphans. Tune in for more music from Kerry sensation Walking On Cars in advance of their show this Sunday at Subterranean and The Gloaming and Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill who are performing at the Old Town School of Folk Music on May 28th. Plus a tribute to the late, great Texas troubadour, Guy Clark. That's a JAM-PACKED show, folks. TOP O' THE MORNIN' TO YA! That's right, as it was St Patrick's Day this week, Chris and the team covered every stereotype in the book on Thursday's show, to be sure. Aside from an abundance lazy stereotyping, there was lots more fun to be had: Dave Masterman treated the team to a one-off game of… CELEBRITY LEICESTER SQUARES! Pippa offered us an unusual ‘three-word review' of the Walking On Cars gig that she went to PLUS, Dom offers Hillary Clinton some much-needed voice coaching. All this, and loads more great craic! Ok, that's enough. The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Weekdays 6.30-10am RadioX.co.uk
