Your imagination is always working — whether you're aware of it or not.In this episode of Mental Health School, I teach you why imagination is the true starting point of manifestation, identity change, and emotional regulation. This isn't about wishful thinking or “just be positive.”It's about understanding how mental imagery trains the nervous system, shapes subconscious expectations, and becomes the blueprint your body and behavior follow.Inside this episode, you'll learn:
As daughters of Eve, we each carry an innate heritage of leadership, and courage. We also learn from today's guest that part of Eve's legacy is the important role of being a shepherd, like our Savior. When we follow Eve's example, we are women who nurture trust in our homes, communities, and in our relationships with God. Having a deeper understanding and appreciation of Eve helps us better understand ourselves as daughters of God, each of us like Eve with a unique and vital role to play in His kingdom. Today's guest, Rebekah Call, is a professor at Utah State and a contributing author to Seeing Women in the Old Testament: What Scriptural Heroines Teach Us About Courage, Faith, and Action, available at Deseret Book. Her chapter on Eve is the basis for this conversation. Every commandment reveals our sin and our need for God's grace, and then points us straight to the awe and glory of Jesus, our Savior, who fulfills them all. As our Mediator, He changes our hearts from the inside out, took the curse for us through His atoning blood, and invites us to draw near to God without fear. Exalt Him!
There is still time to look back on the Patriots' win over the Chargers which validates how Mike Vrabel has managed the offseason and regular season. What would a win over Houston do for the already-there validation for New England? Then, Robert Kraft will be in a great light if the Pats beat the Texans for his firing of Jerod Mayo and slam dunk hiring of Mike Vrabel. And, the defense seemingly carried the Pats in their win over the Chargers, but can they do it again versus Houston?
Today we're looking toward Jesus and His example, how He spoke and shared truth when He was on the earth, what we can do to model after Him, and how two women in scripture can help inspire us to be bold in our discipleship. As we take covenant steps to follow Him, we learn to recognize that He is always alongside us. Lori Denning is with us again to illuminate the scriptures for us in her joyful way. Lori is part of the religion faculty at BYU Idaho. She's also a gospel speaker, writer, and student. Her recent career change from supply chain manager to religion professor inspired part of this conversation, showing how God is always with us on our path—and that's something we can proclaim with joy! We wish you a Merry Christmas—and a reminder of the proverbial reason for the season. Our prayer is that, amid the noise surrounding modern-day Christmas celebrations, we may as yet hear the faint echo of Isaiah's earth-shattering pronouncement: "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Emmanuel." And, "he will save his people from their sins."Merry Christmas from Hank Hanegraaff and the rest of the Christian Research Institute family. As a Magnify community, we read "Personal Ministry: Sacred and Precious" by Bonnie D. Parkin, former Relief Society General President. In it she challenges each of us to identify our personal ministry and live each day finding opportunities to care for others as the Savior would. In this conversation, three women at very different stages of life, a widow and empty-nester, a mom of five kids ages 10 and under, and a young single adult, get personal and share what's in their hearts after reading Sister Parkin's address, and what it looks like for them to be on the Lord's divine errands and develop a deeper sense of personal ministry with the Lord. Sister Parkin said, "Most ministering opportunities are spontaneous, not planned in advance." The little things we do to share the light of Christ each day add up to make this world a better place and our daily efforts to care for each other the way Jesus would make a difference. Christmas is a season of dreams. Kids dream of sugar plums; lovebirds dream of rekindled romance. Parents dream of the family together again. And of course, we're all dreaming of a white Christmas. The original Christmas story was full of dreams too: hopeful dreams, born in the dark, for a brighter future. Christmas began with a dream; was sustained by dreams; and ultimately became a dream come true. This isn't just childhood fantasy. Join us this Christmas to experience the dream that changed everything. First time listening to our podcast? We'd like to get to know you! Head over to: http://bit.ly/connectcardccc. Connect with us! "I will bless the LORD at all times; and his name shall continually be in my mouth..." Many times we term certain expressions as worship, Today's message as taken from Psalm 34:1-8, 1 Samuel 21:10-13 helps us to see that Worship is done in reverence to God, while Praise is an acknowledgment of what He has done.
As Magnify women, through life's many and varied adventures, we hold tight to the Lord's promise in D&C 122:7 "that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good." We've learned that one of the ways we reap from this goodness is in how we can turn around and share what we've learned with others and help them along their path. Our lives become a collection of opportunities and testimony of moments that we can pull from later to be of service to each other. Maria Eckersley, is here to share how three women in scripture show us how the Lord constantly prepares us to be part of His great work, giving us opportunities to care for each other as our Savior would. Even if we can't tell in the moment, we can trust that He has equipped us to step forward in His strength. Maria is a multi-hyphenate gatherer of goodness from being a devoted fun mom to mega party planning to gospel teaching tips in the home. She is a mom to six amazing kids and grandma to three darling grandsons. Notes: Hear more from Maria on the Magnify podcast: 5 Questions to Illuminate Women in the Scriptures
Ray Chung grew up in a faithful Christian home in Malaysia, watching both sides of his family run businesses that shaped the fabric of their communities. Even as a kid, he sensed that business carried real power, but it wasn't until his own encounter with deeper faith that he began wrestling with how work, calling, and impact could fit together. College only fanned that flame, awakening a vision for business as a living witness to the Gospel. Years later, Ray would spend significant time with HOPE International, where a healthy, Christ-centered culture left a lasting mark on him. For more than twenty years, he has been helping leaders and teams reorient their hearts toward the way of Jesus. Now a senior consultant with Rising Sun Consultants, Ray walks alongside organizations as they build cultures formed by servant leadership and spiritual maturity. Then in 2021, Ray faced a radically personal invitation to generosity when he sensed God asking him to give one of his kidneys. His story is full of wisdom on surrender, Christlike culture, and what it means to faithfully steward the life God has given you. Major Topics Include: The theology of work An example of a healthy organizational culture Why an organization's culture is important Words of wisdom about the non-profit model Assessing an organization's board, leadership, and financials The five elements of servant-leadership Prioritizing intimacy with God as a busy leader Practical tips for spiritual rest Being called to give his kidney Stewarding your story, experience, and relationships in a way the points others to Jesus QUOTES TO REMEMBER “Work is a channel of grace to display the glory of God in meeting needs, ours and our neighbors, as we generate resources that can be shared in the redemptive work of the Gospel.” “Business can be a powerful force for God's transformation” “God has been at work in these communities long before we show up.” “Organizational culture is really hard to fake long term.” “Culture requires intentionality and accountability.” “Do I believe that the more I work, the more I can advance the mission? Or do I really think that God is at work here?” “Sometimes we need to remember how to be a human being rather than a human doing. I try to give myself permission to be about more than work.” “I used to believe the lie that I am what I perform. But I'm learning to believe the truth that I am loved by the Creator and that alone is enough.” “Our life is not our own when we are surrendered to God.” LINKS FROM THE SHOW Hope International (see our interview with founder, Jeff Rutt or CEO, Peter Greer) Jesse Casler (see our past interview here) Lead with Prayer by Ryan Skoog, Peter Greer, and Cameron Doolittle (see our interview with the authors here) Practicing the Way by John Mark Comer The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer Lectio 365 App Caleb Breakey, founder of Renown Publishing (see our past interview here) Kate Gardner, co-host of the Ascendants Podcast and co-founder of Magnify (see our past interview here) Alan Barnhart (see our past interview here) Julie Wilson, President of Women Doing Well (see our past interview here) Dana and Bill Wichterman (see our past interview here) The Finish Line Community Facebook Group The Finish Line Community LinkedIn Group BIBLE REFERENCES FROM THE SHOW Psalm 46:10 | Be Still Be still, and know that I am God. What happens when a bartender from New York gets hit by a car, and ends up building a $350 million real estate empire? Jason Yarusi joins The Aspiring Solopreneur to share how that wake-up call sparked his Live 100 mindset, a simple yet powerful framework for breaking patterns, building momentum, and magnifying results. From redefining success to fighting perfectionism, Jason gets real about how self-awareness, consistent action, and gratitude can completely reshape your life and business.FAQs From The ShowWhat exactly is the “Live 100” framework?Live 100 is Jason Yarusi's three-part system, Break, Build, and Magnify, for creating lasting change. You start by breaking habits that no longer serve you, then build meaningful rituals through consistent, intentional action, and finally magnify your growth by inspiring others and compounding small wins over time.Jason talks a lot about self-awareness. How can solopreneurs strengthen it? He recommends honest reflection without judgment (notice how you're showing up in moments of stress and identify which “version” of yourself is leading the way). Then ask: How would the version of me who's already achieved my goals respond right now? Over time, that awareness shifts both mindset and behavior. What does Jason mean by taking action over perfection? Perfection is just a fancy form of procrastination. Jason urges solopreneurs to take one small step, because movement creates momentum. Every step reveals new information, while inaction keeps you stuck. As he puts it, “Most people think they're jumping off a building when really, they're just stepping off a curb.”

This past week my whole family (myself included!) has been fighting a cold. It got me thinking about what we do as homeschool moms when we get sick and how hard it can be to actually give ourselves permission to rest and recuperate. So I'm keeping this episode short and sweet and giving you some really practical ideas for how to take a sick day! We'll talk about how to do things a little differently, redefine what "counts," and still feel peaceful about your homeschool when life doesn't go as planned. We'll also talk about the mindset that either helps us rest well or keeps us stuck in guilt and perfectionism. When mom is sick, it can actually be an opportunity to model self-care, compassion, and teamwork for our kids. Rosemary Wixom is with us again! Through her example, personal experiences, and interactions with others, Sister Wixom shows us that when we prioritize our time in the temple, even when time seems like the only thing we don't have enough of in our lives, the blessings are immeasurable. She shares how she learned the truth of this promise from President Nelson: "The Lord will bring the miracles He knows you need as you make sacrifices to serve and worship in His temples." This episode is one that leaves us inspired and feeling emboldened to spend more time in the temple, either as regular temple workers or through more frequent temple worship. Rosemary and her husband served as temple president and matron of the Salt Lake Temple before it closed for renovations. Many of us also recognize her from her time serving as Primary general president. She also served on the Church's Temple and Family History Executive Council. And, fun fact, she has a twin sister! This episode explores the discipline of contentment in both seasons of plenty and want. It urges listeners to recognize God as the source of all blessings, to resist pride when prospering, and to trust God as their portion during hardship. Through practical spiritual counsel, it teaches magnifying the King — praising God for who He is — as the pathway to preserving the soul and finding peace amid broken relationships and life's struggles.
Our willing hearts are enough for the Lord to send us on divine errands, even if we feel like outsiders, outliers, or full of shortcomings. How can we know? Looking at the examples from women in scripture helps us see that our part in the Lord's work is never small, rather, it's expansive. We don't have to second-guess—moving forward to act on promptings can help us understand that any time we're on God's errand, it's divine. Kaylen Nelson joins the podcast to help us learn more about our personal divine errands from remarkable women in scripture who lived out their own. Kaylen recently retired after thirteen years of teaching in the church education system so she can stay home with her two baby boys. In October 1999, Sheri Dew gave a landmark talk entitled "We are Women of God." The words she spoke then still ring true today: “It is by letting the world go and coming unto Christ that we increasingly live as women of God. We were born for eternal glory.” In this episode, Sheri Dew shares her personal learnings since giving this address, what it means to be a woman of God today, why it matters to think celestial more often, and how to get better at being active and intentional in our faith. She also revisits the invitation she gave the women listening in 1999 and modifies that invitation for us today, reminding all of us that our influence for good in this world is incalculable.
