The international break is over, and club football returns with the Gran Derbi: REAL BETIS vs SEVILLA.This is one of the most vibrant rivalry matches in world football, Spain's greatest local spat, a true expression of Seville's colorful culture: the freewheeling social scene fueled by ubiquitous outdoor dining and Sevillanos who are impressively direct with one another; the searing heat of Andalusia; the close quarters in which the two sets of fans live, including in split households; and a rich history featuring the Romans, the Moors, Christian kings of all stripes, and the dictatorship of Francisco Franco after the Spanish Civil War.This derby has boiled over at times, but more than anything it's defined by the (mostly) good-natured banter of the street, known as guasa, and a stubborn refusal from both sides to drift towards the corporatism that has come to define the modern game. They're desperate to beat each other and, perhaps as importantly, see each other suffer. In recent years, Sevilla have become the Europa League masters, seven times champions since 2006, in what is a considerable shakeup of the dynamic here. For a while, neither of them won much of anything, and the whole ethos of Real Betis is built around manque pierda — something like, "even when they lose." Betis are the better off this season, though, gunning for European football next season year behind the talismanic talents of Isco, who not so long ago had a short and disastrous spell at Sevilla. He could be the difference-maker this Sunday, though this week's guest predicts Betis could still fall prey to their own inferiority complex in this fixture.That guest is Colin Millar, news writer for The Athletic and author of The Frying Pan of Spain, a book on the history of this rivalry. There's a billionaire stripping government services from people who need them, just so he can get a huge tax cut. No matter where you stand on that situation, I don't think there's a single person in America who think that billionaires and corporations need a tax cut. Let me know if I'm wrong. Sadly, we may not have the power to stop corporate entitlements. But we do have the power of our wallets. Celtic Pittsburgh hasn't been doing much the past few months though we do have plans in the works for an event in October. Meanwhile, the renaissance festival season for my family and I started when we attended the Great Lakes Medieval faire the weekend of July 27 and 28. It was a great weekend, and we needed time away from the daily routine. With life so busy for everyone we hardly see friends anymore, and this was a chance to see many of them. We were happy to find that our friend Captain John Stout, aka Richard Brentar, has returned to Great Lakes after having been absent for a few years. I'm not sure what I enjoy more, his music or his stories, he always has lots of great stories to tell. We also saw the Jackdaws, Celtic Mayhem, and Michael Manderen. Sadly we didn't make the shows of Menagerie Music this year but we did manage to catch up with Lisa from that duo. My family and I plus a couple of friends went to see John McCann and Hamish at Mullaney's Harp & Fiddle in Pittsburgh on August 3. These two are a lot of fun and have great energy, and get the place jumping. I have seen them for 15 years, starting when they were part of the Corned Beef & Curry Band. Sadly that band broke up when one of the three decided to explore other musical paths. I'll be sending more pictures of Celtic musicians come September after trips to two more ren faires.  Until then, slainte!" Turns out, seasoned restaurant owners still get a case of the nerves before they open a new place. That's just one of the many things I learned talking to Chef Douglas Katz and Edgewater Hospitality business partner Todd Thompson as they get ready to open Kiln, the third restaurant for the team. Kiln will slide into a highly desirable spot in the Van Aken District as a modern American bistro with European, and even global influences, adding another layer to their delicious restaurant cake that includes highly-regarded spots Zhug and Amba. In this episode we get the "nuts and bolts" of the restaurant—the environment, decor and food. But we also talk about the ideation and development process, their teamwork, and the pressure from reviews (professional and otherwise) and how it can affect mental health. Tim Heng loves fishing, especially the Roaring Fork and Frying Pan rivers near Basalt, Colorado. He's spent a large part of his life fishing them, loving them, and trying to preserve them for his fellow anglers. His efforts over the years were so compelling he was honored by the Roaring Fork Conservancy as the Conservator of the Year, the highest honor given in the valley. He is considered one of the pioneers of drift boat fishing on the Fork and Colorado River. He founded Roaring Fork Anglers in Glenwood Springs and later worked and managed the Taylor Creek Fly Shop in Basalt, Colorado for 29 years. While there he innovated fly patters that produced better than most others. He also took many trips with clients to Christmas Island and Los Roques, Venezuela. Essentially, Tim is one of the kindest, big hearted people you will ever have the pleasure of knowing! On today's podcast we cover the many nuances of a true blooded “River Keeper."

Nathanael Stottlemyer emailed: "We're losing Good Celtic Music Hi Marc, It was last year that I started listening to your podcast, and like a mad man I started your podcast at the very beginning. I'm now at the year 2016 and I've loved every episode. There is just one problem. When I look up the bands that I loved and that I want to purchase their music, they're gone. There's no website, no Spotify, no YouTube, sometimes I can't even find their CD's used! And it's a shame, because they're good songs and sometimes, take Young Hunting by Serious Kitchen (Which was in your best of the year podcasts more than once) it's the only Celtic rendition of the song on the internet. I managed to buy the last Tig! Album off the internet, but it's looking bad for some of my other favorites. We're losing years of Celtic music, and it's a shame, especially since I know that the members of Serious Kitchen and others are still around. I don't suppose I'm missing a way to buy these albums. I really hope I am. I don't suppose you could use your amazing Celtfather connections and reach out to some of the people of these bands and see if they'd put on Bandcamp?
