    Dr. Cleo Manago is a behavioral health and cultural analyst, writer, educator, popular speaker, and Black/African social justice and defense-focused human rights activist.  He is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pride Center of Maryland and Chief Advisor/Founder of the Black Men's/Women's Xchange. He is also the developer of the critically noted Critical Thinking and Cultural Affirmation (or CTCA) methodology, a “racism/oppression trauma, trance-breaking” behavioral intervention. His work is featured in numerous journals, including The Black Scholar - Journal of Black Studies and Research, The Journal of Black Psychology, the American Journal of Public Health and We Real Cool: Black Men and Masculinity by bell hooks.Cleo Manago studied behavioral health and cultural anthropology at New College of California, began his doctoral studies at the California Institute for Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco, holds a doctorate in Cultural and Religious Studies from Christ University and is community faculty at Charles Drew University of Science and Medicine in Los Angeles. )

    Creative and community organizer A.J. sits down with an old friend, Emma Noelke, to discuss allyship. From challenging our families, to changing our tactics, to white men on tinder. Tune in to find answers and perspectives on common topics surrounding the subject. Emma Noelke attended Purdue University where she got a B.A. in African American Studies and a B.A. in Curriculum Studies. During her time at Purdue, she co-found an organization called SPARC (Students of Purdue Against Racism Coalition) that led workshops and discussions focused on race and privilege along with being a platform for organizing around issues of racism in campus. After graduating, she worked for a Diversity and Inclusion consulting company and then lived in Spain where she taught English for a year. She now lives in Baltimore, Maryland working toward her Master’s in Education at Johns Hopkins University and getting her teaching certifications in elementary education and special education. In the fall she will be a 3rd grade math teacher and is excited to build an inclusive and justice-oriented classroom. Outside of her work, you can find her reading poetry, taking care of her plants, or checking out local museums.

    Creative and community organizer A.J. sits down with Heather Simpson to discuss the effects of Covid and social unrest on Black Minds. Heather believes It's crucial for us to renegotiate our expectations around time, and space to accommodate the present. From self-guided calming exercises to giving yourself grace, it's time to be kind to yourself. Heather Simpson is a speaker, advocate and mental health professional finishing her Masters at Lewis and Clark College with a degree in marriage couple and family therapy. Heather holds previous bachelor degrees in psychology, philosophy, and women's and gender studies from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Heather is committed to helping people of color, LGBTQ communities, non-monogamous communities, and Kink communities thrive and connect. She plans to continue her work into private practice in Portland, Oregon and hopes to bring intersectional, pleasure focused and trauma informed care to underrepresented folks.
