Tom Blaschko has an interesting piece of work, entitled "Calculating Soul Connections", where he attempts to shows the connections between the physical world and what could be defined as our souls. We discuss various aspects of the book and how it came about. Tom Blaschko earned a Bachelor's degree in astronomy from the California Institute of Technology and a Master's degree in developmental psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a third degree black belt in Shotokan Karate, where he learned about ki, the martial arts aspect of the life force. Tom's scientific influences include research by Rupert Sheldrake on morphic fields, Ian Stevenson's studies of people who remember past lives, analysis of the effects of Emotional Freedom Techniques and other energy healing, and research on ki by Kuo Kanshin and Shigeru Egami's group. Beyond the scientific research there are thousands of stories from seemingly credible people who have talked with angels or fairy folk or apus or djinn, seen ghosts, and lived in Dreamtime. Rather than discredit these reports, Tom asked the question: What needs to be added to Western science to make these stories possible? It was a two-item list: souls with chakras and a fifth force called the life force. Both of these are accepted in many cultures, so nothing new was needed. Currently, Tom lives in the Pacific Northwest where is working on his next book, We All Have Souls and I Think I Can Prove It. wwwcalculatingsoulconnections.com Hosted on Acast. Life is perpetually, endlessly filled with change: new jobs and new loves, unfamiliar places and faces. And entwined in that change is loss: loss of what was or is, or what could have been. Amid this shifting landscape, author Ann Tashi Slater has found power in embracing impermanence through the Tibetan Buddhist belief in the intermediate state of bardo. * In this episode, Ann is joined in an illuminating conversation with CIIS Professor in Transformative Inquiry Fernando Ona. Ann shares insights from her latest book, Traveling in Bardo, and examines bardo in relation to marriage, friendships, parents, children, work and creativity along with stories of her Tibetan ancestors and the Buddhist teachings on the fleeting nature of existence. * This episode was recorded during a live online event on September 18th, 2025. In this episode, Niall speaks with Dr. Christopher Bache about his 20-year exploration of consciousness, including 73 high-dose LSD sessions undertaken as part of a disciplined, structured inquiry. Dr. Bache is a Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Youngstown State University. Dr. Bache's journey moved beyond personal healing into encounters with collective consciousness and what he calls the diamond soul. His work brings together philosophy, spirituality, and direct investigation of non-ordinary states of awareness. In this conversation, they explore: — How psychedelic experiences revealed the boundary between individual and collective consciousness — The evolutionary purpose of reincarnation and its role in human development — Why a collective dark night of the soul may precede a major shift in consciousness — How meeting suffering, personal and collective, can open the way to deeper freedom — Why Dr. Bache understands death as a homecoming rather than an ending And more. The icy-white crust of Arctic permafrost is melting, and increased plant growth is turning the glacial north green. Metals like iron, once locked inside the ice, are leaching into hundreds of Arctic rivers, giving them an orange hue. Vivid changes may catch our eye, yet invisible shifts are also afoot. Microbes locked in the frozen ground since the age of the mammoths can now be revived when they thaw. We're exploring the consequences of changes in permafrost, how AI may help us better understand Greenland ice loss, and get reactions from scientists about the Trump administration's attempt to dismantle the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), one of the premier climate and weather researcher centers in the world. Stijn Schmitz welcomes Chris Rutherglen to the show. Chris Rutherglen is PhD Scientist/Engineer, Level 3 CFA, and publisher ‘The Gold Investor Research’ Substack. Chris provides a comprehensive analysis of gold and silver market cycles, utilizing a scientific approach to forecasting price movements. He explains that gold typically moves through distinct cycles, with particular focus on the current “rate cut period” and potential future “quantitative easing (QE) period”. Using sophisticated analytical tools, he tracks gold’s price movements relative to the Federal Reserve’s interest rate changes and monetary supply. Rutherglen suggests gold is approaching its fifth intermediate cycle high, with a potential target range of $4,900 to $5,200. However, he believes the market may extend to a sixth intermediate cycle, potentially reaching around $6,700. Looking further ahead, he proposes a more dramatic long-term projection of gold potentially reaching $24,000 in the 2030s, based on historical debt-to-money supply ratios. For silver, Rutherglen applies similar analytical methods, projecting potential prices around $840, though he emphasizes these are speculative estimates based on current monetary trends. He notes that silver’s current price, while seeming high, is relatively consistent with historical inflation-adjusted prices. Chris highlights several key indicators for tracking these cycles, including call and put option volumes, central bank purchases, and the relationship between gold prices and moving averages. He stresses that a true QE period would likely require significant economic stress, prompting substantial monetary intervention. His analysis suggests the current gold bull market still has potential room to grow, with the most significant gains potentially occurring during the future QE period. Rutherglen recommends investors remain attentive to economic indicators and be prepared for potential market shifts. Listeners can find more detailed analysis on his Gold Investor Research Substack, where he provides weekly updates and in-depth reports on precious metals market cycles. Rosicrucian Origins with Ronnie Pontiac Ronnie Pontiac was the personal research assistant for Manly P. Hall at the Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles. He is author of American Metaphysical Religion: Esoteric and Mystical Traditions of the New World. He is coauthor with Tamra Lucid of The Magic of the Orphic Hymns: A New Translation for the Modern Mystic. He explores the true origins of Rosicrucianism, arguing that the famous manifestos were a radical literary and cultural intervention rather than an ancient secret order. Pontiac situates their emergence within the religious, political, and intellectual upheavals of 17th-century Europe, particularly during the Thirty Years' War. Ronnie reframes Rosicrucianism as a decentralized countercultural movement that spread ideas through symbolism, imagination, and culture rather than hierarchy or initiation. 00:00:01 Introduction: Rosicrucian origins and misconceptions 00:09:38 Religious conflict and the Holy Roman Empire 00:18:20 Emperor Rudolph II and hermetic culture 00:28:22 The Rosicrucian manifestos and public reaction 00:38:33 Alchemical marriage and political mythology 00:47:56 Defeat of Bohemia and shattered hopes 00:56:10 Counterculture and horizontal transmission 01:05:48 The dangers of intellectual hierarchy 01:14:21 Living Rosicrucian principles in practice 01:28:49 Conclusion New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. A science-backed guide to discovering the real power of magic and implementing it in your life, from the renowned author of Real MagicThere is an idea that shakes the core of our scientific principles: That our consciousness participates in creating our physical reality. It's an idea that runs counter to the materialist worldview we're all taught in school. But the outer edges of scientific inquiry bleed into what can only be called 'magic.'Dean Radin, Ph.D., is at the forefront of researching magic from a scientific standpoint. In The Science of Magic, he shines a light on today's scientific breakthroughs, from quantum mechanics to the mind-body connection to telepathy, that can best be explained by what we currently call magic (or psi). In short, today's magic is the science of tomorrow. He shares his own groundbreaking research on psi phenomena, and explains how you can start utilizing these findings in your own life today.Accessible and practical, The Science of Magic offers magical methods from the perspective of a scientist, demonstrating how to effect change with exercises and hands-on techniques. In short, magic is a mental skill, like meditation or mathematics. You will find a quiz to discover your natural talents and foundational activities for strengthening your skills, including:• Affirmations (word magic)• Sigils• Knots• Candle magic• Writing magic• Spell-castingWith his uniquely science-backed approach, Dean guides you through testing magic on your own, for example through dream precognition, evoking synchronicity, and more. The Science of Magic is a journey to the outer edges of our understanding of the universe, showing where science is leading us: namely, to magic.Dean Radin is Chief Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), Associated Distinguished Professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies, and cofounder and chairman of the biotech company, Cognigenics. He earned an MS (electrical engineering) and a PhD (psychology) from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and in 2022 was awarded an Honorary DSc from the Swami Vivekananda University in Bangalore, India. He is the author or coauthor of some 300 scientific and popular articles, four dozen book chapters, and nine books, four of which have been translated into 15 foreign languages: The Conscious Universe (1997), Entangled Minds (2006), Supernormal (2013), and Real Magic (2018).https://www.deanradin.com/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.
MetaTheurgy with Kevin Cann Kevin Cann is a contributor to Jeffrey Kripal's book How to Think Impossibly. He is a high-functioning autistic individual whose perspectives inform his philosophical work. Cann is the originator of a worldview he calls Platonic Surrealism. Kevin Cann explores MetaTheurgy as an expansion of ancient theurgy, reframing ritual, consciousness, and wonderworking through the contemporary lens of his system, Platonic Surrealism. He explains how human beings function as interfaces between awareness, potentiality, monadic consciousness, and the physical world, offering practical methods to restore agency in a postmodern culture marked by alienation. Cann also discusses how ritual, transcendence, and expanded states of mind can foster healing, meaning, and participation in a larger cosmic process. 00:00:01 Introduction: metatheurgy and expanded awareness 00:01:42 Origins, Platonic surrealism, and, ancient theurgy 00:03:48 Wonderworking, UFO summoning, and, altered states 00:07:03 Metamodern, moving beyond postmodern despair 00:12:02 Rituals, daily practices, and, reframing life 00:15:12 Healing, empowerment, and, suffering in modern life 00:29:47 Wonderworking, personal transformation as the core 00:33:21 Freewill, determinism, and, feedback loops 00:44:06 Human beings, monads, souls, and, plasma symbiosis 01:08:53 Conclusion New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Thirty years ago, NASA’s Galileo spacecraft became the first mission to orbit Jupiter, opening a new chapter in our exploration of the outer Solar System. Over eight years around Jupiter, Galileo transformed how we understand Jupiter and its moons, revealing a powerful and dynamic planetary system, uncovering evidence for oceans hidden beneath icy worlds, and reshaping the search for life beyond Earth. To mark the 30th anniversary of Galileo’s orbital insertion, scientists, engineers, historians, and advocates gathered at the California Institute of Technology for a special symposium: Galileo at 30. In this episode of Planetary Radio, host Sarah Al-Ahmed takes you inside that celebration. You’ll hear how Galileo survived seemingly impossible challenges, how its team adapted when things went wrong, and how its discoveries reshaped planetary science. You’ll hear from key voices in Galileo’s story, including historian Erik Conway, project manager Bill O’Neil, magnetometer principal investigator Margaret Kivelson, Europa Clipper Project Scientist Bob Pappalardo, and Dragonfly mission Principal Investigator Elizabeth “Zibi” Turtle, along with reflections from many others whose lives and careers were shaped by this remarkable mission. Together, they tell the story of Galileo not just as a spacecraft, but as a shared human effort, one whose legacy continues to guide exploration today. In recent contract negotiations, Kaiser Permanente therapists asked for language to specify that artificial intelligence would not “replace” humans in mental health care, but the employer has so far refused. Kaiser already uses AI technology in mental health care to take notes and create summaries, but Kaiser therapists worry further use of the technology could usurp their jobs. We talk about the ways AI may be entering our mental health care system and how it could affect therapists and their patients. Guests: April Dembosky, health correspondent, KQED News Jodi Halpern, professor of bioethics and chancellor's chair, University of California, Berkeley Vanessa Coe, secretary–treasurer, National Union of Healthcare Workers Anna Benassi, therapist, associate professor and executive director of clinics, California Institute of Integral Studies Learn more about your ad choices. Platonic Computation and the Dodleston Messages with Simon Duan Simon Duan came from China to the United Kingdom in the 1980s, where he earned a PhD in materials science from Cambridge University. He is a past Vice President of the Chinese Parapsychology Association and the founder and CEO of Metacomputics Labs, which researches a postmaterialist paradigm unifying consciousness, mind, and matter. Duan developed the hypothesis known as Platonic computation, argued to provide the strongest available explanation for the controversial Dodleston Messages case, if the case is genuine. Simon Duan discusses his hypothesis of Platonic computation, a postmaterialist model proposing that consciousness, mind, and matter emerge from a deeper non-physical realm of forms. He explains how this framework may illuminate the enigmatic Dodleston Messages, a decades-old case involving anomalous communications that appear to originate from both the past and the future. Duan explores how higher-level layers of reality, intelligence, and information processing could account for the extraordinary features of this controversial paranormal episode. Some podcast apps may not display links from our show notes properly, so we have included a list of links at the end of this description. * Why do we assume romantic relationships are more important than friendships? In this episode, clinical psychologist Margaret Boucher has an illuminating conversation with NPR journalist Rhaina Cohen on the power of platonic partnerships and how the thrill, intimacy, and commitment we seek is often found through meaningful friendship. * Sharing insights from her years of original reporting and social science research, Rhaina argues that we undermine romantic relationships by expecting too much of them and diminish friendships by expecting too little of them. At a time when many Americans are spending large stretches of their lives single, widowed, divorced, or feeling the effects of the "loneliness epidemic," Rhaina challenges us to ask what we want from our relationships—not just what we're supposed to want—and helps us to examine how we define a fulfilling life. * This episode was recorded during a live online event on July 31st, 2025. The Space Show Presents Open Lines Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025Brief Summary: The program began with discussions about the delayed New Glenn rocket launch due to weather concerns, followed by conversations about space policy, regulations, and the future of the International Space Station. The group explored various space exploration programs and technologies, including NASA's Orion program, commercial space stations, and potential human settlements on the Moon and Mars. They concluded by discussing upcoming launches, space policy uncertainties, and more.Detailed Summary:Our program began with a discussion about the New Glenn rocket launch, which was delayed due to weather conditions. Bill Gowan provided updates on the launch window and weather concerns. David discussed potential changes to the Space Show which might include plans to post videos on YouTube for a broader audience. The Space Show (SS) Wisdom Team also touched on upcoming Space Show guests and programming changes for 2025. Ryan Watson, a caller, joined the discussion to share his concerns about the FAA's new regulations on rocket launches and the current state of air traffic control. The Space Show Wisdom Team discussed an article by Casey H. that critically assesses NASA's Orion program, highlighting concerns about cost, schedule, and technical issues. Bill shared this article with the participants, noting his interest in further investigating these concerns. David mentioned inviting the author back to his show for a future discussion which will be Dec. 2. Peter raised questions about the future of the International Space Station (ISS), expressing concern about its planned deorbiting in 2030. Marshall explained that the ISS, like any aircraft, experiences stress and wear over time, making its continued operation unsafe beyond a certain point. He suggested that the modular design of the ISS could allow for partial reuse in a new station or other projects. David noted that space biomed researchers would like to see the ISS continue due to its valuable contributions to medical research, but he expressed doubt about its extension given budget constraints and the high cost of maintenance. The Wisdom Team discussed the future of the International Space Station (ISS) and its potential replacement with commercial space stations. Doug cited a high cost per paper ($700,000) produced by ISS research, questioning its value for American taxpayers. Phil and Doug agreed that NASA should focus on Moon and Mars programs rather than extending ISS operations, as commercial space stations are unlikely to become commercially viable without NASA funding. Bill inquired about the potential value of relocating ISS to a resource-rich location, but Doug expressed skepticism about the feasibility and cost of such an operation. The Wisdom Team discussed the value and necessity of maintaining a human presence in space, particularly focusing on space stations, the Moon, and Mars. Doug expressed skepticism about the economic benefits of space stations, emphasizing the potential for national prestige and military applications, though he questioned whether these justify human presence in orbit. The conversation shifted to the long-term potential of establishing human settlements on the Moon and Mars, with Phil and Doug agreeing that such endeavors would require a long-term perspective and careful consideration of each step. John Jossy highlighted Elon Musk's focus on infrastructure and transportation for Mars, while also noting the need to address the question of human reproduction in space. Bill shared an update about a recent incident involving Chinese astronauts being stranded at their space station due to debris damage. The Wisdom Team took on the challenge to discuss hardware incompatibility between different space programs, particularly regarding the Chinese space station, with Bill suggesting that an adapter similar to the Apollo-Soyuz test flight project could be a solution. They also explored the Artemis program's future, with Phil expressing optimism about its success despite public perception issues regarding cost, while Doug and Marshall discussed the potential for SpaceX's Starship to eventually replace the Artemis program, particularly for missions beyond Artemis III.Next, the Wisdom Team discussed the upcoming New Glen launch, with Phil expressing confidence in its engineering capabilities and potential to compete with SLS. Doug highlighted Blue Origin's Blue Moon program as a significant alternative to SpaceX's Starship, noting its hydrogen upper stage for lunar resource utilization. David raised concerns about the lack of constants in current space policy and the challenges of planning in such an uncertain environment, while Peter suggested that private industry might be more reliable than government policies due to their focus on profitability. Our Wisdom Team discussed several key topics related to space exploration and technology. They examined the potential for data centers in space, with some skepticism about the feasibility due to thermal and cost constraints. The conversation also covered the upcoming New Glenn launch and NASA leadership candidates, with particular focus on Jared Isaacman's potential appointment as NASA administrator.Special thanks to our sponsors:Northrup Grumman, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Helix Space in Luxembourg, Celestis Memorial Spaceflights, Astrox Corporation, Dr. Haym Benaroya of Rutgers University, The Space Settlement Progress Blog by John Jossy, The Atlantis Project, and Artless EntertainmentOur Toll Free Line for Live Broadcasts: 1-866-687-7223 (Not in service at this time)For real time program participation, email Dr. Space at: drspace@thespaceshow.com for instructions and access. The Space Show is a non-profit 501C3 through its parent, One Giant Leap Foundation, Inc. In Part Two of this transformative conversation, Anjali Rao and Hannah go deeper into the lived practice of yoga; how to honour its complexity, language and lineage while teaching with integrity and inclusivity.Anjali unpacks the layered meanings of dharma, reflects on how the concept of true self transcends gender and caste, and explains why Sanskrit is both a source of beauty and a symbol of privilege. She shares how teachers can create spaces of care, accountability and liberation by engaging with history rather than avoiding it.In this episode:What dharma really means — and how to use it with integrityThe idea of the true self beyond identity, caste, and genderWhy Sanskrit can be both sacred and exclusionaryHow to strip away old hierarchies and make yoga spaces truly inclusiveWhat liberation might look like in today's yoga worldThis episode is an invitation to practise yoga as awareness in action; thoughtful, embodied and deeply human.About AnjaliAnjali Rao is a yoga educator-practitioner whose work deconstructs the dynamics of power in yoga with a multidisciplinary approach integrating philosophy, art and history. She offers insight into the stories that have been obscured by heteropatriarchy, orthodoxy, and colonization. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Philosophy and Religion at the California Institute of Integral Studies, exploring the formulation of movements of dissent and resistance in the religio-spiritual context. She is on the faculty of many yoga teacher training and continuing education programs. Arianne MacBean writes, “Your anger is the spark of your inner fire.” As outlined in her upcoming book, Tough Shit: The Angry Woman's Guide to Embodying Change, that spark is something every woman deserves to honor. This week she joins me for a conversation that's all about reclaiming that fire and learning how to channel it into transformation. Arianne is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Los Angeles with a certificate in somatic psychotherapies and practices. We talk about the power of anger as a tool for self-knowledge, how the patriarchy taught us to suppress it, and why embracing it is one of the most radical acts of self-compassion a woman can take. Arianne also shares how her background as a dancer and choreographer shaped her somatic therapy work and how tuning into the body allows us to uncover what's really beneath our anger: fear, sadness, hurt, and ultimately, truth. This conversation is such a beautiful reminder that anger isn't something to fix, it's something to feel, follow, and transform. ✨ If you'd like to watch the video version of this episode, you can find it here. What you'll hear about in this episode: Why anger is powerful information, not something to suppress (3:32) How somatic therapy connects movement, body awareness, and emotional healing (5:36) Ways to use anger as armor and as a guide toward deeper healing (13:20) The surprising history behind the phrase “tough shit” and Arianne's reclamation of it (19:30) That there are men actually doing the inner work on themselves, facing hard truths, and learning to show up differently in relationships (34:35) Learn more about Arianne MacBean: Arianne MacBean is a Somatic Psychotherapist, writer, and educator. She taught dance at the middle, high school, and college levels for over twenty years and was the Artistic Director of The Big Show Co., an LA-based dance-theater group. She holds a BA in Dance from UCLA, a Double MFA in Dance & Writing from California Institute of the Arts, and an MA in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She works with individuals and couples to heal from trauma, learn healthy communication skills, and trust the body's wealth of wisdom.
