Join me as I read (and poke fun at) old mystery books! Releases every Monday.
HEY GUYS sorry for not posting!! I've been real busy I promise :(BUT this week's episode is great! For our first puzzle, we have a mind-bending mystery concerning death, a will, and who gets the fortune. For the second, we have a man framed on circumstantial evidence that we need to prove innocent, and for the final puzzle... a foolish man makes an attempt at "the perfect crime." Needless to say - it doesn't go well. Thanks for listening! If you have anything to tell me, email me at classicmysteriespod@gmail.comIf you ever feel like donating, you can do it either directly or by becoming a patron! Here's the book I read fromMy Etsy store - I sell cute lil cross stitched earrings and the likeI appreciate y'all ;)Intro Music:Cool Vibes by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/3553-cool-vibesLicense: https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseOutro Music: Samba Isobel by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/4316-samba-isobelLicense: https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseSupport the show
SORRY FOR NOT POSTING I'm still alive I swear, I'll post an update next week :)This week, we read the wildly dramatic ending to the Nailed Shoes trilogy - Thorndyke dunks on the prosecution in court, with some startling evidence. This week, we dig even deeper into R. Austin Freeman's story "The Man With the Nailed Shoes" - and we even gain a suspect! However, that suspect is soon cleared (or so we think) of suspicion, as Thorndyke himself takes on the case of his defense. We'll see where this goes...Remember, send book recommendations to Classicmysteriespod@gmail.comIf you ever feel like donating, you can do it either directly or by becoming a patron! My Etsy store - I sell cute lil cross stitched earrings and the likeThank you so much for listening (and reading this description)Intro music:On Hold For You by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/6928-on-hold-for-youLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Outro music:Bossa Antigua by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://filmmusic.io/song/3454-bossa-antiguaLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Support the show
This week, for our first puzzle we hear about a murder in a restaurant... and we need to locate an elusive clue to convict the culprit. Secondly, we hear about the story of a man who answered a newspaper ad... and died. Our job is to discover how his murder was pulled off. For our final puzzle, we're given the age-old riddle of boat captains racing to a place... when they're supposed to be trying to get there last. This week is such a banger! The first puzzle was a difficult one - we had to figure out exactly how a forgery was committed. In our second one, a murder is committed! There are few marks in the snow around the body, so there are limited clues to work with. The third puzzle is a weird question of how an eccentric old man escaped a bathroom (not a regular bathroom - a room with a bath in it). It's a great episode! Definitely worth it to listen in.Thanks for listening! If you have anything to tell me, email me at classicmysteriespod@gmail.comIf you ever feel like donating, you can do it either directly or by becoming a patron! The book I read fromMy Etsy store - I sell cute lil cross stitched earrings and the likeI appreciate y'all ;)Intro Music:Cool Vibes by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/3553-cool-vibesLicense: https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseOutro Music: Samba Isobel by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/4316-samba-isobelLicense: https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseSupport the show

This week, for our first puzzle, we get to hear from a world traveler trying to get his hands on a huge sum of money. It just so happens... that his story doesn't quite line up. In our second story, we get a glimpse into Prof. Fordney's Criminology class, and get to learn a valuable lesson along with his students. For our final puzzle of the week, we hear about a mysterious murder on a train... and the missing murder weapon. Thanks for listening! If you have anything to tell me, email me at classicmysteriespod@gmail.comIf you ever feel like donating, you can do it either directly or by becoming a patron! The book I read fromMy Etsy store - I sell cute lil cross stitched earrings and the likeI appreciate y'all ;)Intro Music:Cool Vibes by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/3553-cool-vibesLicense: https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseOutro Music: Samba Isobel by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/4316-samba-isobelLicense: https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseSupport the show
This week, we're back with the beginning of an Agatha Christie story! The story begins with a party, and ends with... well, you'll have to see. At the party, Hastings overhears a rather puzzling story about an absurdly cheap flat, and things only escalate from there.Remember, send book recommendations to Classicmysteriespod@gmail.comIf you ever feel like donating, you can do it either directly or by becoming a patron! My Etsy store - I sell cute lil cross stitched earrings and the likeThank you so much for listening (and reading this description)Intro music:On Hold For You by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/6928-on-hold-for-youLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Outro music:Bossa Antigua by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://filmmusic.io/song/3454-bossa-antiguaLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Support the show
In the first puzzle of the week, we read about chaos & murder in a political(?) convention - and how we need to solve it all, among the chaos. The second story has to do with dead uncles, open windows, and escape ladders, and it's up to us to find the hole in the setup. The last puzzle is the most American thing I've ever read - Fordney attends a baseball game (with Babe Ruth, no less), and while he's there, the Umpire gets sniped in the head by a wicked fastball pop bottle. This week, we watch Sherlock track the history of the Musgrave Ritual, and dig deep to find out the fate of the two missing servants. He goes on a whole dang scavenger hunt to find treasure? Back to the classics! This week, I'll be choosing a random Sherlock story out of my book, and we'll read it together! I won't spoil what I end up reading, but suffice it to say that it's definitely an interesting dilemma - and it's got a fun framing narrative to boot!Remember, send book recommendations to Classicmysteriespod@gmail.comIf you ever feel like donating, you can do it either directly or by becoming a patron! My Etsy store - I sell cute lil cross stitched earrings and the likeThank you so much for listening (and reading this description)Intro music:On Hold For You by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/6928-on-hold-for-youLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Outro music:Bossa Antigua by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://filmmusic.io/song/3454-bossa-antiguaLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/Classicmysteries)
This week, in our first puzzle, we get the chance to solve the strange and somewhat bloody murder of a maid. Bedspreads and towels were taken into account. It was indeed strange. For out second puzzle, we dig into the complex murder of Barton, by his friend Bob. How do we know he did it? Well, listen & find out ;) For our final puzzle, we met a group of three brothers, one of which is now dead. This one involved jumping on a moving boat, a wayward oar, and a ridiculously athletic swimmer (he feels the need to continually reference it). Thanks for listening! If you have anything to tell me, email me at classicmysteriespod@gmail.comIf you ever feel like donating, you can do it either directly or by becoming a patron! My Etsy store - I sell cute lil cross stitched earrings and the likeI appreciate y'all ;)Intro Music:Cool Vibes by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/3553-cool-vibesLicense: https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseOutro Music: Samba Isobel by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/4316-samba-isobelLicense: https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/Classicmysteries)

This episode may be my favorite out of all of the episodes so far. Three amazing, hard-hitting reveals occur, each more dramatic and theatrical than the last! I obviously won't go into details, but we learn a lot about Peterson, we meet someone from our past, and... the kill count may have increased by one. This is a must-listen episode, folks.Remember, send book recommendations to Classicmysteriespod@gmail.comIf you ever feel like donating, you can do it either directly or by becoming a patron!
In our first puzzle this week, we hear about a trio of friends that, due to bad conditions, have to cancel plans to go fishing. What happens next? Murder. Who coulda guessed. In our next puzzle, we read about a suspicious bank robbery, and an all-important coat. How is a coat important? Well, guess you'll have to listen in, eh? For our last puzzle, we read about two friends that go out into the country for some fresh air. However, all they end up getting is death by cyanide. Is it suicide? Was he murdered? ¯_(ツ)_/¯Thanks for listening!
This week, Hugh Drummond flexes his dramatic muscles on both Lakington AND Peterson! The thing is... neither of them know about it yet. Also in this episode - Lakington plays a character so well, it's a travesty he isn't in Hollywood. I won't spoil anything, but I love this episode with all of my soul.Remember, send book recommendations to Classicmysteriespod@gmail.comIf you ever feel like donating, you can do it either directly or by becoming a patron!
This week, we have the pleasure of first reading about a supposed theft of furs from the back of a moving truck - however, Fordney sees an issue with the story and calls out the driver. Our job is to find out how he knew. Secondly, we try to puzzle out a strange home intrusion/jewelry theft that has a very clever solution. Do I guess it? Guess you'll have to see. Lastly, we hear about a very dramatic murder (I mean that literally - the victim was an actual actor). It's detail-packed, so we'll have to parse the evidence we're given to find a hole in what we're told. This week, Hugh gets himself in a fix again - as he does every week. And of course, he comes out alive at the end of it all. This week, in our first puzzle, we question the strange actions of a suspicious fisherman, in possession of some stolen jewels. In our second puzzle, we read about a well-dressed gentleman, who just so happens to be dead. It looks to be suicide... but Professor Fordney thinks not. In our last puzzle, we hear all about a man. He's returning to the country from Cuba... but why? To help his imprisoned pal, or to put his affairs in order after a bank failure? This week, I think I do well. But then again, I always think I do well. This week, Hugh Drummond brushes death and lives to tell the tale! Not that that's very rare or anything. But this particular assassination attempt is really interesting. In other news, we also learn a ton more about Peterson's master plan, and Mr. Green and Drummond begin to gear up for a real fight. In other other news - Mr. Green is the best, and we all need someone like him in our lives. Listen and see why. You'll agree. Exciting things happen - I won't spoil too much, but let it suffice to say that he has a serious death wish. Another exciting thing is that we learn more about Carl Peterson's grand plan! Today, we continue on the journey that is Bulldog Drummond! The plot of today's episode goes thus: two insane human beings - who happen to be nemeses - chilling out in a house together for a day. They nearly kill each other one night, and then they're up and enjoying coffee together the next morning. Needless to say... I love this episode. We get some real sass from Hugh and it's beautiful.Remember, send book recommendations to Classicmysteriespod@gmail.comIf you ever feel like donating, you can do it either directly or by becoming a patron!Thank you so much for listening (and reading this description)Intro music:On Hold For You by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/6928-on-hold-for-youLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Outro music:Bossa Antigua by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://filmmusic.io/song/3454-bossa-antiguaLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/Classicmysteries)

Today, we enter the brave new world of Capt. Hugh Drummond! As we embark on this new novel together, we learn about a scheme of global proportions, and the power-hungry, dangerous man spearheading the effort. We also meet the protagonist: a cheerful, happy go lucky guy... who put an ad in the paper as a joke, and ended up getting more than he bargained for. I'm so excited to be starting this new book! It has a lot of promise... I see murder in the future.Remember, send book recommendations to Classicmysteriespod@gmail.comIf you ever feel like donating, you can do it either directly or by becoming a patron!Thank you so much for listening (and reading this description)Intro music:On Hold For You by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/6928-on-hold-for-youLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Outro music:Bossa Antigua by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://filmmusic.io/song/3454-bossa-antiguaLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/Classicmysteries)
In this week's Minute Mysteries, we hear false alibis and made up stories. Our job, is to poke holes through these false tales! I don't generally succeed, but maybe you will. The first puzzle has to do with a pretended theft, the second, with a spiteful servant's testimony, and the third has to do with a boat alibi! We're all over the place today.
Today, we read possibly my favorite Sherlock story! Titled the Grecian Interpreter, it's the story of a strange kidnapping, a torture victim, and the bond of siblings! It ultimately ends kind of mysteriously... This story is definitely a Sherlockian hard-hitter. Listen in for plots of manipulation, murder, torture, kidnapping, and murder (but this time good...?) This episode isn't one to miss.Remember, send book recommendations to Classicmysteriespod@gmail.comIf you ever feel like donating, you can do it either directly or by becoming a patron!Thank you so much for listening (and reading this description)Intro music:On Hold For You by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/6928-on-hold-for-youLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Outro music:Bossa Antigua by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://filmmusic.io/song/3454-bossa-antiguaLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/Classicmysteries)

This week, we're up to something a bit different. We read from a book called Minute Mysteries by H. A. Ripley, filled with short logic and deduction puzzles! I fail miserably.Enjoy listening to challenging murder mystery puzzles, nitpicking the mistakes in an alibi, and needling out the truth from behind a false story! It's a ton of fun. You can find my Etsy shop here!
