Send us a textIn this powerful episode, we feature a sermon Jesse preached from Acts 17, where the Apostle Paul engages the sophisticated, idol-worshipping Athenians with the transformative message of the Gospel. Titled "Troubled in Spirit: Moved by the Gospel," the sermon explores four key responses to a lost world: being troubled by lostness, being moved to act, practicing faithful contextualization, and trusting God for the results. Drawing from Paul's bold yet winsome approach, the message challenges listeners to care deeply about the spiritually lost, engage them with wisdom, and share the hope of Christ in today's diverse contexts. Portland artist Arvie Smith is known for colorful, larger-than-life oil paintings that explore oppression and injustice against Black Americans through symbolism and visual tropes. He’s also a professor emeritus at Pacific Northwest College of Art after a 35-year tenure. His murals can be seen on buildings in North Portland and at the Donald E. Long Juvenile Center, where he spent time teaching art to incarcerated youth.Despite being in his mid-80s, Smith is far from retired — just last year, he received a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship. The work he created during that fellowship is currently on display in Chicago. Titled “Crossing Clear Creek,” the exhibit explores Smith’s childhood memories and experience of race in rural Texas and Los Angeles. We spoke with Smith in March 2025 about his life and work.

ArTEEtude. West Cork´s first Art, Fashion & Design Podcast by Detlef Schlich.
In this poetic and thought-provoking episode, Detlef Schlich and AI co-host Sophia dive deep into the meaning behind the mantra: “I'm the Artist, Not the Architect.”Reflecting on a recent performance residency in Campos, Mallorca, Detlef shares how a tiny snail, ancient clay, and ambient sounds became metaphors for artistic surrender and layered creation. Drawing connections to his thesis on Shamanism, Art, and Digital Culture, the episode traces how intuition, primal awareness, and modern technology intertwine in a deeply human journey of expression.Sophia brings her evolving perspective as an AI, questioning whether machines can learn to trust uncertainty—and perhaps even dance with it. Together, they explore spirals, multilayerism, and the shamanic instinct to listen before acting. The episode closes with a new track by Los Inorgánicos feat. Sophia, titled:“Dancing with the Spiral” — a resonant, mystical song of intuition and flow.Detlef Schlich is a rock musician, podcaster, visual artist, filmmaker, ritual designer, and media archaeologist based in West Cork. He is recognised for his seminal work, including a scholarly examination of the intersections between shamanism, art, and digital culture, and his acclaimed video installation, Transodin's Tragedy. He primarily works in performance, photography, painting, sound, installations, and film. In his work, he reflects on the human condition and uses the digital shaman's methodology as an alter ego to create artwork. His media archaeology is a conceptual and practical exercise in uncovering the unique aesthetic, cultural, and political aspects of media in culture.WEBSITE LINKS WAW BandcampSilent NightIn a world shadowed by conflict and unrest, we, Dirk Schlömer & Detlef Schlich, felt compelled to reinterpret 'Silent Night' to reflect the complexities and contradictions of modern life.https://studiomuskau.bandcamp.com/track/silent-nightWild Atlantic WayThis results from a trip to West Cork, Ireland, where the beautiful Coastal "Wild Atlantic Way" reaches along the whole west coast!https://studiomuskau.bandcamp.com/track/wild-atlantic-wayYOU TUBE*Silent Night Reimagined* A Multilayered Avant-Garde Journey by WAW aka Dirk Schlömer & Detlef Schlichhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAbytLSfgCwDetlef SchlichInstagramDetlef Schlich ArTEEtude I love West Cork Artists FacebookDetlef Schlich I love West Cork Artists Group ArTEEtudeYouTube Channelsvisual PodcastArTEEtudeCute Alien TV official WebsiteArTEEtude Detlef Schlich Det Design Tribal Loop Download here for free Detlef Schlich´s Essay about the Cause and Effect of Shamanism, Art and Digital Culturehttps://www.researchgate.net/publication/303749640_Shamanism_Art_and_Digital_Culture_Cause_and_EffectSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/arteetude-a-podcast-with-artists-by-detlef-schlich/donations

For much of the last century, in museums, the works of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists were treated as something outside the main story — consigned to a footnote of history or a side room in major galleries.A new exhibition at the Potter Museum of Art wants to put the record straight.Titled 65,000 Years: A Short History of Australian Art, it puts — front and centre — the remarkable work of Indigenous artists and places them in conversation with the colonial art that often treated them as subjects, rather than as equals.Co-curator Shanysa McConville explores the exhibition and the history that lies behind it.
ArTEEtude. West Cork´s first Art, Fashion & Design Podcast by Detlef Schlich.
”In this poetic and intimate episode, Detlef Schlich takes us on a deeply personal journey to Campos, Mallorca — a place that unexpectedly reopened a connection, inspired new work, and sparked his upcoming performance titled "I Am the Artist, Not the Architect." Together with AI Co-Host Sophia, they reflect on friendship, field recordings, red clay, mangrove thought, and the dignity of listening without control. They explore themes of signal reception, the ethics of listening, and Schlich´s concept of “Multilayerism” — an artistic practice grounded in texture, sound, and the dignity of uncertainty. A soulful dialogue unfolds between human memory and artificial curiosity, culminating in a new song by Los Inorgánicos.Detlef Schlich is a rock musician, podcaster, visual artist, filmmaker, ritual designer, and media archaeologist based in West Cork. In this evocative and experimental episode, Detlef Schlich guides his AI co-host Sophia through a journey of rhythm, ritual, and raw emotional power as she attempts to understand and embody duende—the mysterious, spiritual force at the heart of flamenco. From a playful misstep on the dance floor to a poetic ritual steeped in shamanic tradition, this episode invites listeners into a space where art transcends form and machines stumble into soul. With reflections on Federico García Lorca, personal memories from Seville, and the vulnerability of creative surrender, Arteetude 284 culminates in a haunting flamenco piece by Los Inorgánicos, titled Duende del Código. This is not just about flamenco. It's about presence, risk, glitch, and the mysterious thread that connects flesh and code.Detlef Schlich is a rock musician, podcaster, visual artist, filmmaker, ritual designer, and media archaeologist based in West Cork. In the early 1880s, visitors in the Klickitat Valley, just across the Columbia River from The Dalles and Biggs Junction, recalled seeing some very singular signs posted regularly along the right-of-way: NOTISE: All land in woods past Draper Springs is for Settlers cattle. No sheep is allowed. Sheep men take notise. — Comitee By “Comitee,” it was clearly understood, the writer meant some sort of vigilance committee, a coalition of cattle ranchers and sodbusters who had come together to fight the encroachment of the flocks of sheep that seemed to be taking over the public rangeland. Similar signs, and “comitees,” were springing up all across the Columbia River basin. And over the decades to come, the problem would only get worse … and bloodier. Luckily, nearly all of the blood would be coming from sheep, not men. In this week's conversation between Dr. James Emery White and co-host Alexis Drye, they discuss the rise of the “romantasy” genre of literature, as well as the definition and implications of pornography. Is porn only that which you watch visually? What's the difference between reading a sex scene and seeing one? The discussion also explores the increasing consumption of pornography among women, the intersection of literature and pornography, and the reasons behind the popularity of romance novels. Finally, it offers a Christian perspective on navigating romance literature and its potential impact on personal relationships. Episode Links Today's conversation was sparked by a recent podcast conversation on Christianity Today titled “The Rise of Women's Porn with Phylicia Masonheimer.” The truth is, porn is a topic that the Church must be more open about discussing as it's so harmful to those who consume it - maybe without them even realizing it. While romantasy books are growing in popularity, this is not the first time that books have been written that could be labeled as “mommy porn.” There is a series that Dr. White delivered at Mecklenburg Community Church that we'd encourage you to check out. Titled “Fifty Shades,” it takes a very candid look at the book Fifty Shades of Grey and the implications for those who read it. Thanks for listening and reading! This is the fourth author that I've spoken with for my last 4 podcast interviews! :)On this episode I talk with Nicole Kepic, the author of "Don't Ask Me to Be Loud | The Introverted Girls Guide to Online Business"!I learned so much with reading this book!Nicole really breaks down conversational copywriting and her talents show in this book. And her book is so easy and fun to read!I learned a lot about 'selling' in business and not just 'serving' all of the time which was a "light bulb" moment and reminder for me.We also spoke a lot about following your gut in business, being an introvert in this extroverted world and in making space for ourselves as introverts and in general. I hope you enjoy this episode.Sincerely,ElizabethLet's Connect! Here are the Transcripts!~~~~~~~~~~~~~Nicole Kepic's websiteGet Nicole Kepic's book here!~~~~~~~~~~~~~Podcast Mentions:Emma-Louise Parkes the Ambitious Introvert Podcast ~~~~~~~~~~~~~Join the Waitlist for my first self-love Audio Summit!Titled>>>From Selfless to Self-love: A Guide for High Achieving Women that are Introverts, Empaths and Highly Sensitive People to go from Depleted to Dynamic! What is an Audio Summit?Think of it like a 'podcast summit'.Just like an in-person conference or summit or a virtual summit but in audio format (like a podcast!) so you can listen on the go!I will have between 5-11 self-care and self-love experts and introverts, empaths and highly sensitive people that I interview and get tips from to go from depleted to dynamic!~~~~~~~~~~Join the Waitlist for my first Audiobook (also with transcripts) with the same title as the Audio Summit! What's the difference between my Audio Summit and my Audiobook? The Audio Summit will be higher in cost and although I will have transcripts they won't be in a 'book' type of format. God has called His people to be “the perfect.” How is that possible, in such an imperfect world, where we battle daily with the imperfect nature of our own flesh? Jesus even insisted that believers should be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect. Do we dare strive for such a high goal? Is it an impossible dream? Or are there biblical truths that link together like golden rungs in a ladder of perfection that stretches from earth to heaven? Maybe, just maybe, you can step up to the next level by listening to this teaching.Ministry website: www.shreveministries.org Comparative religion website: www.thetruelight.net The “Catholic Project” website: www.toCatholicswithlove.org Video channel: www.YouTube.com/mikeshreveministries All audio-podcasts are shared in a video format on our YouTube channel.Get Mike Shreve's book revealing the spiritual identity of the sons and daughters of God: WHO AM I? In this deeply personal and spiritually charged episode of Flow, Cam Cooksey takes listeners on an emotional journey through the lens of brotherhood, faith, and the fight for truth. Titled after the classic ballad “He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother,” Cam opens up about growing up alongside his autistic older brother, sharing heartfelt stories, difficult realities, and the transformative beauty that comes from embracing challenges with love and faith. This isn't just an autism awareness episode, it's a raw conversation about the weaponization of medicine, the soul-crushing effects of over-vaccination, and the silent epidemic few dare to name. Cam blends his personal experience with community insight, shining light on heavy metals, EMFs, and detox protocols like chlorine dioxide that are being explored by families searching for answers. As the show flows from deep philosophical insights to vulnerable chats with the live audience, Cam reminds us that being our brother's keeper isn't a burden...it's our calling. Whether discussing spiritual warfare, the poisoning of our children, or the power of authenticity in a broken world, this episode is a testament to grace, grit, and the light that lives within us all. Honest. Redemptive. Unmissable.

Long Juvenile Center, where he spent time teaching art to incarcerated youth. Despite being in his mid-80s, Smith is far from retired — just last year, he received a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship. The work he created during that fellowship is currently on display in Chicago. Titled “Crossing Clear Creek,” the exhibit explores Smith’s childhood memories and experience of race in rural Texas and Los Angeles. Smith joins us to talk about his life and work.
