Send us a textWelcome back to The Day's Grimm! We're joined by our great friend Paul Bragin (Brian's most religious listener ) for a wildly unhinged conversation that bounces from the weather in Southern Indiana to the geopolitics of the Middle East.Brian Michael Day, Thomas Grimm, and Paul Bragin discuss:Sanctuary on the Hill: A major shoutout to Paul Lindbergh's incredible 92-acre nonprofit that provides support for veterans returning from warzones with PTSD. Learn how to support the project and why they have the "right of first refusal" on additional land.Mass Mayhem: Brian recounts a hilarious, unconventional experience at St. Boniface Mass where a visiting African priest engaged the crowd in a way he's never seen before, including high-fiving children in the pews and leading a standing ovation. The Adult Grand Prize Game (Bozo Beer Pong): Brain and Paul pitch an instant-classic reality show idea: reviving The Bozo Show's Grand Prize Game, but with adults competing to pay off their mortgage by tossing ping pong balls into cups filled with shots like the Vegas Bomb and the Irish Car Bomb. The France Trip & The Obscure Joke: Paul breaks down his two weeks in France and explains an obscure joke he texted the hosts about the cathedral town of Chartres (pronounced "Shark") that only a handful of people would ever get.The New Studio: The guys show off the brand new Day's Grimm studio space, debate where to put a logo, and talk about the challenges of job hunting while running a chaotic podcast.Tune in for the chaos, the comedy, and a serious discussion about helping our veterans!TIMESTAMPS 00:00 - Welcome Back, Paul & The Crazy Southern Indiana Weather 02:31 - Tour of the New Studio & thedaysgrimm.com 06:14 - The Hilarious African Priest at Mass Story 08:39 - Bleeps, Censorship, and Working in Radio 12:39 - Sanctuary on the Hill Shoutout (Veterans PTSD Nonprofit)15:39 - Paul's France Trip and the "Chartres" Joke 18:32 - New Show Idea: Bozo Beer Pong (The Adult Grand Prize Game) 20:40 - Explaining "Bomb" Shots (Vegas Bomb, Irish Car Bomb)LINKS Check out the podcast website: thedaysgrimm.com Support Sanctuary on the Hill: Follow them on Facebook and check their website for a donate button[The Days Grimm Podcast Links]- YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheDaysGrimm- Our link tree: linktr.ee/Thedaysgrimm- GoFundMe account for The Days Grimm: https://gofund.me/02527e7c [The Days Grimm is brought to you by]Sadness & ADHD (non-medicated)
Joel steps into a classy Perth charity ball and somehow leaves the place looking like the aftermath of a soap opera finale. From swanning around in borrowed pearls with full Shiraz-auntie energy to vanishing for 45 minutes to write Big Brother jokes, the man was on a tear. He skipped queues, talked himself up like he was running the joint and bid against himself in the auction without realising he was the only bidder. By the time he hissed at a stranger on the way back to the drinks, the damage was done and the legend was born. The full story is messy, unhinged and absolutely worth hearing.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We return to the wonderful world of Hong Kong martial arts madness with Taoism Drunkard a.k.a. Drunken Wu Tang, which we soon discover is a dream logic, kung fu Carry On film and possibly the most baffling comedy film we have ever seen. Up for discussion this time: the most sporadic and hasty subtitles we … Continue reading "468: Drunken Wu-Tang a.k.a. Taoism Drunkard [1984] Movie Discussion"
Immediately after the horrific murder of Duncan, the startlingly incongruous monologue of the porter too drunk to open the gate. The psychological closeness of terror and laughter. Macbeth hires three murderers, who kill Banquo, but Fleance escapes.
Today we kicked off the show by being introduced to "moon water," a judge got drunk and relieved herself in the street, Uber claims they're bringing rickshaws to NYC, Kraft is now getting kooky with flavors for their mac n cheese, and we found another crazy bear story in the news. But the big topic today was Tom Brady cloning his dead dog! Would you do it?! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Bears tried their best to give away that game away, but they get the W in a 47-42 thriller in Cincinnati. We recap the drunkest game of our lives including the craziness that was the final two minutes. As usual we discuss the performance of Caleb Williams. Coach Smoke gives an interesting take on Ben Johnson. And GM tells us if the Bears are ahead of schedule going into week 10 with a record of 5-3.
Back at it after a Halloween weekend, where the World Series was settled in a truly incredible Game 7. Rick just found out about sunroof drains, we discovered the King of online chess, and some guy was handing out crab legs for Trick or Treat! Generation Z is struggling with history, and we shared our stories of drinking to the point of embarrassing injuries! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this candid episode of the SpeakersU Podcast, James Taylor and Maria Franzoni tackle one of the most dangerous traps for professional speakers — ego. While confidence is essential to step on stage, unchecked ego can sabotage client relationships, damage reputations, and even end careers. Maria shares shocking true stories of “speakers behaving badly,” from diva demands and drunken disasters to midnight tantrums over hotel rooms. James reveals how cultural differences, gender perceptions, and even microphone preferences can blur the line between professionalism and arrogance. Together they explore how to stay grounded, easy to work with, and respected — even when success and attention start to inflate your self-image. If you've ever wondered where confidence ends and ego begins, this episode offers hard-won lessons, cautionary tales, and practical ways to keep your feet firmly on the ground. Key Takeaways Confidence ≠ arrogance – A healthy ego gets you on stage; an inflated one gets you blacklisted. Be easy to work with – Kindness to AV teams, organisers, and staff is remembered (and shared). Do your own briefing calls – Never outsource relationships that build trust with clients. Ego destroys reputations fast – Word travels quickly among bureaus and event planners. Cultural context matters – What reads as confidence in the US may look like arrogance in the UK. Boundaries vs. bad behaviour – Riders and technical requests are professionalism, not ego. Stay grounded – Family check-ins, gratitude, and humility keep you level when success rises. Memorable Quotes “Speakers need ego to get on stage — but when it tips into arrogance, it can destroy your career.” – Maria Franzoni “Our job is to be champions for our craft, not divas of the greenroom.” – James Taylor “Do your own briefing calls — if Neil Armstrong could, so can you.” – Maria Franzoni “Confidence is caring about the craft; ego is caring only about yourself.” – James Taylor “You can't control how others treat you, but you can control how you treat everyone around you.” – Maria Franzoni Episode Timestamps 00:00 – Welcome and playful banter about podcast “coolness” 01:20 – Why ego deserves its own chapter in The Bookability Formula 03:07 – When ego makes speakers inflexible on stage timings 04:18 – The ripple effect of bad behaviour on AV and event teams 06:29 – How negative energy travels fast between events and bureaus 07:15 – “Speakers behaving badly” – examples from Maria's agency days 09:07 – Do your own briefing calls (and why Neil Armstrong did his) 10:45 – Cultural and gender differences in how ego is perceived 12:13 – When high standards aren't arrogance but professionalism 13:20 – Midnight hotel tantrums and balcony meltdowns 14:08 – Respect the client's exhaustion – empathy over entitlement 16:42 – Drunken speeches and recycled stories: reputations ruined 18:04 – Tracking your material to avoid repetition and mistakes 19:44 – Cultural nuances: big intros that work in the US flop in Europe 20:24 – Crossing ethical lines: relationships and reputation at events 21:56 – Zig Ziglar's “five calls a day” rule to stay grounded 23:20 – Tips & tools of the week: elected-office speaking practice and portable AI recorders 27:25 – Future of AI speaker assistants — “Digital Maria Franzoni?” 27:52 – Wrap-up, humour, and listener invitation Have a question or story for James and Maria? Host TJ sits down with author Ian Fee, who shares his raw and unfiltered journey through addiction, family struggles, and the path to lasting recovery. From taking his first sip of alcohol at just one year old, to believing booze was his “superpower,” Ian's story is filled with both chaos and redemption. He opens up about how alcohol shaped his childhood, his career, and his relationships—including two failed marriages and painful letters from his children describing life with a “party dad.” Ian also recounts his turning point in rehab, where he realized that true change had to start with himself. Now eight years sober, Ian talks about rebuilding his life through gratitude, community, and daily habits. He shares practical advice for those in early recovery, the importance of your “circle,” and how he transformed his pain into purpose by writing his book Wild Ride to Sobriety. This conversation is a must-listen for anyone seeking hope, resilience, and proof that it's never too late to change.Ian's book Wild Ride To Sobriety: A Transformation from Drunken Oblivion to Profound Clarity can be purchased on Amazon: https://a.co/d/due58IO 00:00 – Welcome & Introduction00:34 – Growing up in an alcohol-centered home02:00 – Childhood party life & first jobs serving drinks03:40 – College years: booze as a “superpower”05:00 – Alcohol and career success in the hotel industry05:43 – Marriage, kids, and the cost of addiction07:14 – Stacking “rock bottoms” and going to rehab08:30 – Turning point: realizing change starts with self09:19 – Emotional impact: letters from his children11:06 – Life after rehab & the power of community13:39 – Learning to feel emotions & forgive himself15:29 – Writing Wild Ride to Sobriety17:11 – Building transformation through daily habits18:26 – The practice of gratitude19:16 – Advice for the first 24 hours of recovery20:44 – The importance of your circle & relationships21:09 – Book launch & where to find it22:26 – Setting small, achievable goals in recovery23:18 – Closing thoughts & inspiration ----Across the Web----

Send us a textRHOC-Drawers, Drama, and Drunken DeparturesPodcast Summary – RHOC S19 E5 “The Big UnEasy”It's Gina's housewarming day, with everyone eventually arriving except for Tamra, Shannon, and Heather at first. Talk quickly turns to Tamra's “former fatty” photo of Jenn, which Gina says Heather told her about. Heather arrives fresh from Paris, followed by Tamra, and the atmosphere is instantly awkward. Outside, Jenn confronts Heather about the photo; Heather tries to frame it as a misunderstanding, but Jenn accuses her of being “bamboozled” by Tamra.Inside, Tamra tells her side to Gina, Gretchen, and Katie, calling Jenn “single white female” and accusing her of befriending Tamra's enemies. Gretchen pushes back, citing past accusations Tamra has made. The tension escalates until Gretchen walks out.Gina gifts each lady a box announcing a trip to New Orleans, though Tamra is emotional because her last visit was with Teddi, who's battling serious health issues. The episode then checks in with the women's home lives—Jenn and Ryan at the gym, Shannon embracing single life, and Gina dealing with a custody challenge involving her stepson. The ladies split into two travel groups for New Orleans. Group 1 (Gina, Emily, Katie, Gretchen) enjoys a riverboat ride, while Group 2 (Jenn, Tamra, Shannon, Heather) joins later for a private dinner. Conversations range from co-parenting conflicts to dating preferences, sexual positions, and playful antics, including Tamra lying on the floor to demonstrate hers. Jenn shares about her pelvic floor surgery, shocking the group.Dinner ends peacefully, but 24 hours later, chaos erupts—Tamra and Gretchen clash, Gina calls Tamra rude and drunk, and Tamra storms off, texting Gina that she quits. On Watch What Happens Live, Gina defends comments about Gretchen's looks, clarifies Emily didn't research a custody matter (Heather did), and admits there's still no progress with Travis's ex.Support the showhttps://www.wewinewhenever.com/

Send us a textStep back in time to the dusty, lawless streets of Dodge City, Kansas as we unravel the enigmatic legend of "Mysterious" Dave Mathers over glasses of Knob Creek bourbon. Few characters in Western lore earned their nicknames more honestly than Mathers, whose life story combines gunfights, peculiar behavior, and ultimately, a disappearance that sealed his place in frontier mythology. We trace Mathers' journey from his early days as a horse thief running with Dave Rudabaugh to his arrival in Dodge City around 1874. After surviving a near-fatal knife attack and forming an unusual business relationship with local physician Dr. Thomas McCarty, Mathers embarked on a colorful career that regularly blurred the line between lawman and outlaw. You'll hear the hilarious tale of "the conversion of Dave Mather," where he exposed a preacher's congregation as hypocrites with a well-placed gunshot, and discover his unique method for testing his sobriety—shooting at the town fire bell after leaving saloons. The heart of our story follows Mathers through his time with the notorious "Dodge City Gang" in Las Vegas, New Mexico, his return to Dodge as assistant marshal, and his fateful, escalating feud with town founder Tom Nixon. Their rivalry over politics, business competition, and a woman culminated in one of Dodge City's most telling shootouts—where Mathers killed Nixon with four bullets and walked away free on self-defense claims, despite the shooting occurring weeks after Nixon's initial attempt on his life. What happened to Mysterious Dave after that deadly encounter? Like many aspects of his life, his ultimate fate remains shrouded in mystery—a fitting end for a man whose very nickname acknowledged the enigma of his existence. Join us for this captivating glimpse into frontier justice, personalities, and the complex moral code that governed the American West.Support the showIf you'd like to buy one or more of our fully illustrated dime novel publications, you can click the link I've included. Today's guest is a fearless storyteller whose voice is as raw as her lyrics—bold, emotional, and unapologetically real. A first-generation Colombian-Canadian, she turned hustle into art, weaving her experiences into songs that hit like truth bombs. Whether she's penning heart-wrenching ballads or delivering razor-sharp verses alongside icons like Eminem and Beyoncé, her work is grounded in authenticity and fire. She's busked, she's bartended, she's broken through. And now, with her third studio album, she continues to push boundaries—proving that vulnerability, grit, and honesty never go out of style.
