Codella’s Rory Cosio interviews heard from two distinguished Latina women in STEM fields who were the keynote speakers of the 3rd Annual SHE TECH TALKS, Beatris Mendez Gandica, Program Manager at Microsoft, and Margaret Dominguez a TECNOLOchicas 3.0 and an Optical Engineer at NASA Goddard. Ms. Mendez Gandica and Ms. Dominguez engaged the students through interactive sessions focused on their personal journeys towards success in STEM, how to navigate their careers, securing mentorship and showed the girls what their jobs looked like.

Jalek Jobanputra, Founding partner of Future /Perfect Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm in NYC, focused on next generation technology,, including blockchain and machine learning, talks about her journey as an early investor in emerging tech and what the landscape looks like.

The Watson Institute , in collaboration with Lynn University in Boca Raton offers a groundbreaking 3 year Bachelor of Science degree in social entrepreneurship. Their inaugural class is comprised of the most promising next- gen innovators and social entrepreneur’s  working to solve problems facing society globally. Watson provides the tools, network,, skills and mindset needed to scale and have impact. Isabel Walker is the Director of Admissions at Watson Institute. This Global Shaper is joined by students and aspiring social entrepreneurs Andria Yaxley of Austin, Texas  and Bella Abrahamsson from Sweden. We learn about their pathways to social entrepreneurship, the specific challenges they faced along the way and the inspiration to solve a specific challenge facing society.

Sally Eaves is recognised as a thought leader in emerging tech including Blockchain, AI, Machine Learning, AR/VR  The accomplished CTO, Advisor, Speaker and Author is an official member of the Forbes Technology Council.What is blockchain, Bitcoin and distributed ledger technology (DLT). What is the social impact of blockchain technologies, what impact are they having on business  and how can they be more inclusive? Sally shares her views on a myriad of issues including how the industry can be inclusive and the importance of transparency.

Josie Goytisolo interviews Patricia Garcia, a Senior at the Honors College at Florida International University majoring in mechanical engineering. During her time at FIU among the many awards and scholarships she has received, she has also been awarded research position at MIT, Duke University, and University of Southern California. Patricia shares the tools that helped her on her journey of success in STEM.   

Disruptive technology is pro-founding changing how we learn and work. The challenge is that there is a large skills gab with millions of jobs available which require advance digital skills. Unfortunately, there is not enough qualified individuals to fill the positions. Saylor Academy is working to bridge the skills gab.There are online courses as well as professional development programs are available.

  Saylor Academy offers free online courses for people everywhere its possible to earn tution free college credit from over 30 courses transforable to dozens partner universities.  

Rory Cosio interviewed Ms. Terry Carbonell who is a seasoned pilot and dedicated to inspiring girls in aviation, education and career development.

Rory Casio spoke to Ms. Rosario Ballesteros- Casas, the Co- Founder and CEO of VR Americas. She was a Keynote Speaker at the CODeLLA She Innovates Tech Conference.

Luisa Santos is the founder of lulu’s nitrogen ice-cream shop in Miami Florida. Although she was born in Bogota, Colombia she has lived in Miami since she was 8 years old and attended the Honors College at Miami Dade College and later Georgetown University. During her senior year at Georgetown, Luisa discovered how to combine liquid nitrogen with ice cream and completely changed the ice cream experience. Soon after, she decided to launch Lulu’s.

Rory Cosio spent the afternoon interviewing Adriana Grineberg, the regional director for Facebook in Latin America. She’s responsible for the pan-regional business and the Miami operation of the company. With over 15 years in the media and technology business, previous to Facebook, Adriana spent 5 years at Google as a Business Director in Brazil.
