Comparison is the thief of joy and it also works to undermine God's perfect plan for our lives. What He intends for us to have, He gives. What He intends for us to do, He assigns. Looking to the left or the right only slows us down in the race of faith.

Pastor Ricky Brown joins the podcast and we celebrate the 100th episode this week! Faithfulness leads to Fruitfulness, but as Pastor Ricky reminds us – We don't get to determine how much fruit. Are we seeking the approval of man or of God?
With Valentine's Day coming up, we talk about what Biblical love looks like. Love is one of the Fruits of the Spirit. It takes the Spirit working within for it to even be possible to love with a true Godly love for others. Taming the tongue is one of the hardest spiritual disciplines. As we speak our words have power, and the Bible clearly tells us that we can sow good or bad seeds with how we speak to others. It's necessary to build each other up as Christians. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
Do you ever feel like you can't do the things you want to do and do the things you don't want to do? This is a struggle all Christians face. We talk practically about how to lean on the Spirit to continually renew our minds. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
Continuing with our discourse on living in the spirit, we look at 1 John 2:15-17. Transformation to live in the spirit from living in the flesh starts with recognizing we can't both desire the things of this world and the spiritual things of God. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
As we continue discussing becoming more Christlike, we look at many reasons we often struggle. Delving into prayer, reading the Bible, and meditating are fundamental to giving God more space in your mind. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
The new year is always full of resolutions, but are your resolutions to be more like Christ? Putting off the old self is a Biblical principle. Applying spiritual disciplines is a great way to do that. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you put off your old self in this new year. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
We continue our discussion of holiness. Throughout our day we need to be seeking living out holiness, asking God to work on our desires and wills to become more holy. If we aren't seeking holiness, then we aren't seeking the heart of God. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
In today's episode, we discuss Philippians 4:8 and allowing the Holy Spirit to change our hearts so that holiness can be our focus. Focusing on holy things will draw us closer to God and live in a way that goodness is what flows out of us. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
It can be too easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle around us in the Christmas season. The stress of relationships, money, and worry amplify exponentially this time of year. If we can focus on being present with God, it will be easier to truly celebrate the birth of Christ. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
God fills us with hope and joy through the power of the Holy Spirit. It may seem worrisome that we have to hand over all our hope to the Holy Spirit's responsibility, but it should give us peace. If you earnestly seek God and ask him to fill you with the Spirit, he is faithful to deliver.
Life challenges are all around us, especially in the Advent season. Our hope lies in the eternal hope of God. We know that he is sovereign over all things. Although it may not be easy, we are taught to enjoy life's journey and hold onto the endurance and encouragement found in scripture. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
The peace of God is the only antidote to life's many stressors. So, how do we receive God's peace when our first reaction is to panic? In this episode, we look at Philippians 4:6-7 and the instructions Paul provides. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
During the holidays, it can be harder than ever to manage stress. Today, the guys tackle managing stress. It might be hard to count it all joy when stressors are coming at you from all directions, but that's precisely what we're told to do in James 1:2-4. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
Humility and living the Christian lifestyle are inseparable. In Romans 12:1-3, the Bible speaks to what a true Christian walk looks like. The Holy Spirit is our great helper, and we should lean on him to reveal when we're being prideful. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
Today, we look at Jeremiah 9:23 and discuss the challenging topic of pride. Its easy to fall into the trap of self inflation; however, as a Christian we should be pointing others back to God and not to ourselves. This week, focus on being humble. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
We need to be out in our community and hanging out with unbelievers. Everyone needs to hear the gospel, and we should share it with everyone we can. Don't stay in your comfortable group of Christian friends, but take intentional steps to make relationships with people who need to know the love of Jesus. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) is the foundational verse we're looking at today. As Christians, we should want to spread the Gospel. It's as simple as talking to others and living an exemplary life of Christ-likeness. It may not always be easy, but it doesn't have to be complicated. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
Today, we continue our discussion on sharing the faith. The Church shouldn't be about consuming; it should be about sharing. As we live day-to-day, we should always look for opportunities to show God to someone in either obvious or not-so-obvious ways. Don't rely on getting people into a church to teach them spiritual principles. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
Do you share your faith regularly? Every day, you encounter people who have never heard the Gospel. To follow the mission of Christ, we must share our story and disciple others. Matthew 4:19 is the cornerstone verse that we look at for Jesus' call to be a disciple. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
Will you be courageous? Every day, we seem to face more and more opposition to the Gospel. Having the courage to stand up against the acceptance of shifting moral standards is difficult. Today we look at Daniel 6:20-22 and Daniel's courage in the lion's den as our guide. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
Is fear stopping you from trusting God to take on the Goliaths in your life? We look at David as a character study of courage. 1 Samuel 17:32-36 tells the story of David and Goliath. Today, we look at how to practically lean into the wisdom of God. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
We live in a world where so much of our worth is based on our achievements. Living our lives continually fearing failure is not healthy. If we understand that our loving God values us as his children, we shouldn't live with a fear of failing. 1 John 4:18 reveals to us that there is no fear in love. Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
God tells us to be courageous. Biblically, courage is looking to God and not to ourselves when venturing into the unknown. We look at Deuteronomy 31:6-7 and the Old Testament example where God explains what it means to be courageous. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
Today, we look at Joshua 1:6-7,9. God commands us to be strong and courageous. Living boldly for Christ requires courage to step out in faith and go boldly where he is telling us to go. Embrace trials and know that God will give you the strength to do His will. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
Looking at Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says to rest in him when you're heavy laden. We can overload ourselves by filling our schedule with "good" things, but it exhausts us. If we learn to rest in God as Jesus did, we can find a much simpler and more fulfilling life. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
This week the guys talk about forgoing material things. We dive into 1 Timothy 6:6-7 and contentment as the treatment for affluenza. Having material possessions is not a problem, but getting sucked into consumerism can lead to a dangerous spiral of never having "enough." Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
As you live your everyday life, your actions are a witness to those around you. How you react to the situations around you can reveal as much or more about your faith than your words. Colossians 3:17, 23-24 speak to living as a Christian example. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
Philippians 4:8-9 tells us to focus on what is right, true, and noble. Listen in as we discuss these verses and how they apply to you. Life doesn't always go as planned, but we can plan how to respond. The sooner we learn to speak wisely and Christ-like, the better we'll feel about the situations around us. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch
Today the guys talk about handing over our fears and anxiety to God. In Philippians 4:6-7 Paul tells us to be anxious for nothing. Through all situations in life, take your prayers to God. Whether it's praises, needs, or fears, no prayer is too big or small. Welcome to Everyday Christianity! In our first episode of Everyday Christianity, we delve into one of the most famous passages of the Bible - Psalm 23. If we don't take the time to rest in God, we are doing ourselves a disservice. God makes us lie down in green pastures, and it's in those times that our souls are rejuvenated. Email: Everydaychristianity@mountpisgah.org Website: https://www.mountpisgah.org Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/mountpisgahchurch Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MountPisgahUMC/
Today we delve into Psalm 62:1-2. As we progress further into our relationship with God, we can find ourselves becoming busy and not spending as much time with the Father. Sometimes we pride ourselves on busyness, but finding a rhythm to consistently sit in the presence of God does so much for nourishing our soul.
We look at Ephesians 4:29 today and continue our conversation about the power of the tongue. Sometimes it can be hard to hold your tongue when talking to others. Building up each other is essential to the health of the body of Christ. Even when we disagree with each other, we should make every effort to speak calmly.
As the guys discuss taming the tongue, they open up to James 3:3-10. When we talk to others, our words can be used to build each other up or tear each other down. We must be careful with our words and be sure they are aligned with the Word of God.
Today we discuss having friends that are there to support you through life. Using the book of Job, the guys show what his friends did well in the hardest times. We may not always get it right but being intentional with our friendships, especially in hard times, is so vital to our Christian walk.
Today we look at John 15:12-13. Loving God and loving others sacrificially is an integral part of biblical discipleship. As we live in a community, we grow in our love for one another. We need those close-knit relationships, someone who will answer the phone in the middle of the night or lift your spirit when you're struggling.
Philippians 4:12-13 speaks to living in contentment. No matter what we're going through, God promises to sustain us, and learning to lean on God for what we need is always the best choice. We can get ourselves into trying circumstances, but learning to live contently with what we have can be the antidote. God provides, and when we're thankful for what we already have, we can learn to be content.
We look at James 1:2-4 today and discuss persevering in life. Especially when our faith is tested, we have a fantastic opportunity to grow closer to the Lord. Being tested in your faith through trials is guaranteed as a Christian; however, as we walk through those times, our walk should become closer and closer to God.
