This week, we’re beginning the last message in the Crosswinds Series, which has been all about the things that destroy our relationships and disrupt our spiritual progress in pursuing God’s glory. In other words, we’re exploring the horizontal things that become the lid for the vertical things in our lives. Wind isn’t a bad thing in and of itself. Headwinds provide lift, and tailwinds provide speed. Crosswinds, on the other hand, aren’t helpful for anyone. Our two opening scriptures (1 Corinthians 13:11 and Matthew 18:1-4) both reference childhood, but one seems to encourage it while the other seems to reject it. Jesus says that we have to be like children to be successful in the Kingdom of God, but Paul says we should put away childish things. For this message, we’re going to talk about the crosswind of immaturity, which takes a tole on our relationships. The key is to learn to be child-like but not childish.

This week, we’re beginning the last message in the Crosswinds Series, which has been all about the things that destroy our relationships and disrupt our spiritual progress in pursuing God’s glory. In other words, we’re exploring the horizontal things that become the lid for the vertical things in our lives. Wind isn’t a bad thing in and of itself. Headwinds provide lift, and tailwinds provide speed. Crosswinds, on the other hand, aren’t helpful for anyone. Our two opening scriptures (1 Corinthians 13:11 and Matthew 18:1-4) both reference childhood, but one seems to encourage it while the other seems to reject it. Jesus says that we have to be like children to be successful in the Kingdom of God, but Paul says we should put away childish things. For this message, we’re going to talk about the crosswind of immaturity, which takes a tole on our relationships. The key is to learn to be child-like but not childish.

[EP 25-045] I'm amazed at the change in politics today. I've discussed how Trump keeps the Left jumping, much like Obama did during his tenure. Obama remade America in a grotesque image based on his history. And as one can imagine, Democrats now run from that history. While Democrats won't publicly decry Obama, privately they have a very different opinion than what the media presents. The same is true for Trump. Democrats want all the things Trump versions 1 and2 bring, but they won't admit it. Ask the average Trump-hating Leftists why they don't like Trump and you will get nothing but talking points. Ask them if they want action, i.e. results from government and you get a resounding, “Yes!” People want to feel safe in the world, be that from the possibility of war to walking the streets in their neighborhoods. Trump gives them that with his foreign policy and his border policy. Overwhelmingly Americans are happy with Trump's crackdown of illegal immigration that begins with removing the worst criminals. It's hard to believe, but many Leftists reject Trump's rounding up of vicious criminals, preferring to stand on some idiotic principle for open borders. Democrats argue that America won't work unless we have illegals. What kind of logic is that? To believe the Left, citizens of America are pampered and we all have illegals to do our lawn work, care for our children, our pools, and then cook and clean for us. I can't speak for everybody, but I don't employ any illegals. And after Bidenflation, you can bet that many who could afford them can't any more. The mainstream media continue to push the narrative that the US and Canadian economies are strong. Unemployment is low and the service sector of the economy is doing great.  This is what is driving the soft landing hypothesis.  But what is being overlooked is the economic headwind that is about to hit the US economy  The US government is low on tax revenue this year. We have reported on the fact that the US Treasury has experienced as massive fall in tax collections this year. We know that there have not been any massive tax cuts announced for this year. So there is no way that the amount of personal income tax collected in 2023 can be down and the economy is growing at the same time. Those two numbers need to track each other very closely.  Effective September 1, in less than two weeks, US student loans become due again.  The US has 45 million people with student debt. Over the past three years, about 60% of the borrowers with student loans took advantage of a pandemic forbearance offer on student loans. That comes to 25.6 million people. The Biden administration attempted to extend this forbearance even further and this executive order was struck down by the Supreme Court. The power of the purse, that is government spending and tax collection is vested with the Congress and not the executive branch of government which is the President's office.  Effective Sept 1 the interest will start accruing again on these 25.6 million loans and the average payment of $300 per month will need to start coming out of bank accounts on October 1.  For the last quarter of the year, that amounts to approximately 23B dollars that will be pulled out of the economy. Now that might not sound like a huge sum of money within the context of the entire US economy.  But the impact is larger than just 23B. Remember that when money is spent in the economy, it tends to recirculate. This is called velocity of money, the notion that money circulates in the economy. But when a loan is repaid, the velocity associated with that transaction is zero. Those funds go to money heaven.
