This Sunday was the conclusion of our Becoming A Redemptive Resistance series, as well as the start to our Advent series. Resisting cynicism and seeking after hope is an important concept in Scripture. We observe the season of Advent as a time of hope, celebrating Jesus' first coming and looking towards His second coming.

In Week 6 of Becoming a Redemptive Resistance, we look at Luke 22:47–53 and how Jesus heals what our zeal and frustration often break. Instead of acting like “culture warriors,” we're invited to join Jesus in his mission of restoration.

Brad Raby dives into where our allegiance should be as Christians: our one and only King, Jesus. In looking at Philippians 3:17-21, we explore how our allegiance to Christ affects our politics and how we stand in our modern climate.

Guest Preacher, Lex Edmé, with Missions of Hope International (MOHI), preaches from John 3:16. He speaks on the impact global missions have and the importance of the Church's involvement, showing the love that God shows everybody to people in need.

Guest preacher, Jack Underwood, with Cedarbrook Outreach, speaks about the importance and impact that local missions can have. You don't need to leave the country to spread the gospel; there are people in need right outside in your neighborhood.

In Week 4 of Becoming a Redemptive Resistance, we look at how Jesus embodied both grace and truth in full, never one without the other. Through John 1:14 and Daniel 1, we're challenged to hold firm to conviction with compassion, courage without cruelty, and to trust that the battle's already been won.

In Week 3 of Becoming a Redemptive Resistance, we explore Ephesians 6:10–20 and the unseen battle behind our struggles. Brad gives insight on how to view spiritual conflict, and calls us to see the Armor of God as a means of spiritual resistance rather than culture war. Most of the armor is made for defense, showing that our role is to stand firm in faith and love. We're reminded to see others as image-bearers of God and to pray even for those we consider enemies.

In Week 2 of Becoming a Redemptive Resistance, we explore James 1:19-21 and the call to reject worldly anger in favor of a Spirit-filled response. Instead of succumbing to the addictive pull of outrage culture, we're challenged to deconstruct misconceptions, like the common misuse of “Jesus flipped tables,” and embrace a posture of being “slow to anger.” As a redemptive presence, we're called to respond with wisdom and grace, reflecting God's righteousness in a reactive world.

This Sunday, we invited a panel of elders and female spiritual leaders from our church to discuss their growth in their spiritual lives and walk with God. What does it look like when you are frustrated with God? How do we respond to the divided world around us?

In Week 1 of Becoming a Redemptive Resistance, we look at 1 Peter 1:1-2, 13-16, and the call to live faithfully in a world like Babylon. Instead of withdrawing or fighting back with force, we're called to stand firm. like a wall that protects what's good, and be a redemptive presence that points to Jesus.
