The Health Nutt Podcast is back with fresh episodes, guests, and content! Our first guest is Dr. Sarah Johnson, a Dallas Chiropractor specializing in a technique called Network Spinal.  Network is a gentle and effective way to connect to and call safety into the nervous system, allowing the patient to move freely and unwind tension held in the body from stress, unprocessed emotions, physical trauma, and microtraumas caused by not utilizing our body's incredible ability to move.  Dr. Sarah and her husband, Dr. Homer, own Next Level Chiropractic in Farmers Branch, TX.  They are both certified Network Spinal practitioners and teachers of the technique, traveling all around the US to teach other Chiropractors.  This conversation is extremely heart-centered and beautiful example of a strong, female Chiropractor, mother, and wife, creating her life for her and her family by her highest design.

To explain why so many of us feel isolated and alone, even when we're surrounded by people. For the entire month of August, each episode will be dedicated to this purpose. This Healing Motherhood series will speak the words that are sometimes too difficult to say out loud. These episodes go DEEP, and you will find affirmation at a soul level here. Each one is more powerful than the last and the wisdom shared will bring you peace. It will make you feel seen. Because regardless of where you live, what you believe, what your parenting style is…we are bonded through motherhood and through the love of our children, the ones in our arms, in our womb, and the ones waiting to come to us.This first episode is my personal message to you as a mother. Ep 9 - Harder Than It Looks with Jon DeMoss

Play Episode Play 30 sec Highlight Listen Later Jul 27, 2021 70:15

Phrases like "no pain, no gain" have shaped our perception of exercise unknowingly for years. Many of us approach exercise as a form of punishment or damage control for our food choices. Many of us exercise to reach a weight goal or a certain aesthetic. We talk about getting our summer bodies and earning our food after a hard work out. We see posts about how many calories you have to burn to work off a candy bar and how many minutes on a treadmill will get you there. We know the benefits of exercise run deeper than appearances, and yet we continue to approach it from the outside in; ignoring our body's cues, pushing through pain, physically abusing ourselves in an attempt to reach a weight goal that sounds good without questioning whether or not it's realistic.Jon DeMoss, owner of Synergy Wellness and Performance, challenges all notions of what exercise is and how it fits in to your overall health. In this episode, he explains how the biggest obstacles to achieving your fitness goals do not come from your body, but from your mind. Jon challenges his clients physically, by taking his athletes down to the most fundamental movement patterns and building a solid athletic foundation. He also challenges his clients mentally, by diving into the reasons behind your health and fitness goals. Jon dives into the real questions: Are your goals realistic? What do you seek to gain from achieving them? Synergy is not just a gym, it is a place where you can find guidance towards improving your health in all areas, mind, body, and soul.'Harder Than It Looks' has been an official motto for Synergy for years because from the outside, some movements may not seem like much. But anyone who has tried it can tell you that Synergy is a place where the change begins from the inside out...and that is never easy.If you've been wanting to start a fitness routine and get healthier but you keep putting it off (or you have no idea where to even begin), this episode is for you. If you have recently had surgery and you're looking to get back into fitness but you're worried about hurting yourself, this episode is for you. If you have been an avid exerciser for years but you've plateaued, or your body feels worse instead of better, this episode is for you. If you are an athlete looking to improve your game and keep your body from wear and tear of your sport, this episode is for you!Show notes:Jon mentions DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Solutions) and PRI (Postural Restoration Institute) practitioners. While Jon mentions Wim Hof breathing, ice-and-fire breathing, the book Breath by James Nestor, and the book Oxygen Advantage by Patrick McKeowan, he most highly recommends ShiftAdapt.com as taking the best of all options and synergizing them. Jon also references Original Strength. Dr. Nutt and Jon discuss Functional Range Conditioning, created by Dr. Andreo Spina. Synergy Athletic gym's websiteSynergy Athletic gym's InstagramFollow Dr. Nutt on Instagram @drchacheeFollow the podcast on Instagram @healthnuttpodcast

If you know any chiropractors, ask them why they became one and you will likely hear about how chiropractic changed their own life in some way. If you watch, you will also be able to see the passion and love for the profession on their face. Chiropractors love chiropractic. We love what we do. We love our patients. Chiropractic is a profession that frequently chooses you. It is a call, that in most cases is unexpected and maybe a little nonsensical given the public perception and statistical career success.Dr. Nikki Porteus, a chiropractor specializing in prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric care joins me to talk about life in the profession. I ask her all my favorite chiropractor questions (including how she got into it), and we discuss and debunk common chiropractic myths, both regular and pediatric. In this week's episode, we have our first guest on the show: Dr. Chelsea's other half and original Health Nutt, Dr. Brandon Nutt.Dr. Nutt is a chiropractor specializing in traumatic brain injury and functional neurology. When it comes to the brain, this guy knows his stuff. Before their first date Chelsea actually asked him if she could ‘pick his brain' and as you will hear in this episode...she's been doing it ever since! In this episode we discussed the neurology of fear: how the emotion of fear is triggered and expressed in our mind, brain, and body, and how it ultimately degrades our health long-term. Dr. Nutt helps bridge the gap between the symptoms we experience (racing heart, abnormal blood pressure changes, inward trembling, tics, nervousness, inability to relax) and the emotions we feel. We talk about the different types of fear-based conditions (PTSD and anxiety being the most common) and why it's impossible to treat these multi-dimensional conditions with one chemical solution. It was both Doctor Nutts putting their brains together that ultimately helped Dr. Chelsea heal from her own PTSD and anxiety. Dr. Nutt is a wealth of information and an amazing human.
