The Catalan Gp is covered on this episode. With usually dull racing Jim and Rich jim and rich focused more on the news of the week. The announcement was that Gunther Steiner of drive to survive F1 fame is now a MotoGP own having bought the Tech3 team. Out on track the Moto3 race only became interesting in the last 5 laps. Jim was happy that for the first time in a long long time the riders kept out of the pit lane exit while riding 5 wide on the front straight. Piqueras took the win but despite a long lap penalty Rueda finished second and still has a commanding lead in the championship. In Moto2 Holgado lead every lap to take his first Moto2 win. The best par of the race was Munoz's pass of Dixion going into turn one. I was a masterful outside to inside maneuver but sadly Dixion was able to get back by in the late stages of the race. In MotoGP Marquez won, no not Marc, but Alex. Alex was unbeatable by anyone but himself as he crashed out of a comfortable win in the Sprint and handed the win to his brother. On Sunday he was unbeatable taking a commanding win after an early dice with Marc. Sporting Kansas City exorcized some demons against the Colorado Rapids Saturday Night in Children's Mercy Park, sweeping the season series with 4-2 win. We did see some adjustments to the setup moving Santi Munoz more centrally in more of a 4-3-2-1 as someone on this podcast suggested might be a good idea, and it largely improved Sporting's shape as well as Munoz' ability to impact the match. That said, it wasn't until the team switched back to the 4-4-2 late that they were able to create the 3 goal scoring barrage that took down the Rapids and had the fans in the stands screaming with joy. There were a number of performances to highlight in this one, both good and bad, because the while we want to celebrate the final scoreline, it was enhanced due to some rather key interventions by John Pulskamp and Ian James, as well as some fortuitous poor shooting in key moments by the Rapids. We will get into all of that, as well as discuss more in game adjustments by Kerry Zavagnin, as well as the ebbs and flows of watching this team play that can often be exhausting for the emotional centers of our respective brains at times. There were a number of other news stories in and around the Sporting KC/MLS Soccer Sphere this week, including a Leagues Cup final that might be making more news due to the actions after the the game than the ones during it, the KC Current continuing their winning ways, as well as Mauricio Pochettino continuing to anger a certain segment of the USMNT fanbase with his player selections. Finally we will do a quick preview of Sunday Night Soccer in Kansas City as Austin FC comes to town and SKC tries to string together a pair of positive results in a row.
For the Glory KC is back with the 144th episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City broke a nearly two-month winless streak on Saturday night against the Colorado Rapids. The streak went back to their last win, also against the Rapids, on July 4th in Commerce City. And while "winless" is technically right, it was worse than that. Between victories over Colorado, Sporting KC were 0-5-1, with just a single draw against NYCFC.The defense was still flawed, and defense often starts further up the field, so there is blame to go around. Colorado should have scored far more than the two goals they put in, if not for outstanding individual efforts from John Pulskamp, Robert Voloder and Ian James. But it was something else that stood out on Saturday. With Manu Garcia still unavailable due to injury, Kerry Zavagnin finally used Santiago Munoz as a straight up #10. You could call it a second striker, but he was floating all over creating opportunities. He was involved in so many attacking sequences and seemed to unlock Sporting KC's creativity. Not every sequence ended with a shot, but there was so much promise.Another move I've been asking for is not starting all three strikers together. It leaves no impact subs on the bench to play forward. With Mason Toye starting on the bench, it was a combination of him subbing on and Santi unlocking the midfield that led to the game winning goal. Munoz played a perfect ball to Toye to finished with precision to push SKC over the line for their seventh win of the season.Of course, Sheena and I talked about a lot more Sporting KC happenings in this episode, including:Our favorite goal of the night (there were so many good candidates)Pulskamp heroicsThat James save off the line!Daniel Salloi showing man strengthInternational callups and so much moreThe KC Current did what we basically expect them to do at this point. Just keep winning. They've won twice since our last podcast and clinched a playoff spot. They aren't that far away from locking up the NWSL Shield. But ultimately, the season will be defined by what they do in the playoffs. Before we get there though, we talk through the victories over the Portland Thorns and North Carolina Courage. In the Digital Crawl, we hit on a few more topics, including:St. Louis fire their Sporting DirectorBarbra Banda done for the yearThe USWNT game at CPKC StadiumHere is a rundown of topics and start times:Sporting KC's big comeback victory - 8:22SKC make moves and Intl. Episode 79 This episode covers some very hard topics. With my guests, Clinton and Charity Munoz, we talked about restoring marriages to wholeness after pornography addiction and sexual betrayal and brokenness. But in spite of the difficulty of the topic, what we found is that we can both laugh and cry together because God is with us in it all. The three of us have personally experienced God turn our painful story into purpose and that is worthy of joy and hope. It's a story worth telling! What Clinton and Charity share is that people in broken and hurting marriages need: honesty and vulnerability and then stories of hope and healing. And they do an incredible job with that. From well-meaning but harmful advice that didn't do a thing for healing Clinton's addiction, to Charity finally reaching her limit and giving him a hard boundary that he would have to get help healing or leave, they walk us through it all. And Clinton shares that Charity's boundary was the greatest gift he'd ever been given. Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is call someone out on their sin. Just like the prophet Nathan with King David. Ultimately, they decided to pursue healing separately and together and eventually they created their organization, Restored to More, to bring couples like them together. Restored to More is unique, so powerful and filled with hope! I love the work they're doing. Lastly, if you are thinking, “this episode isn't for me because this isn't my story,” please listen to this podcast. Clinton shares the most beautiful example of a friend who educated herself on this topic in order to be more informed and available to her friend walking through this valley. May we all follow her example because there will be a day when we need to be that kind of friend! Please listen and share this episode and don't forget to leave a review of the podcast if you have not already. God bless you friends! Memorial Day isn't about a long weekend and BBQs. It's about honoring those who gave their lives in defense of America…and it's about supporting the families they left behind. Across US Army Special Operations Command remembering the legacy and impact of the fallen is a daily duty. This Memorial Day, Fran Racioppi sat down with Major General Gil Ferguson and Dalia Munoz to share the story of the day that changed, and intertwined, their lives forever. The day SFC Pedro Munoz, Dalia's dad, was killed in action. General Ferguson was the officer charged with informing her and her family of his death. Delivering a message no one wants to receive and no one wants to give. Dalia, her mother and her grandmother have never been the same.In this emotional tribute, Dalia and General Ferguson recount that grief-stricken January morning; the planning and preparation behind the casualty affairs process; and the shock, disbelief and sadness that suddenly overcomes a family. Regulation says the casualty officer and the family shall never meet again; which was the case until General Ferguson became the USASOC Chief of Staff, a role that put him in charge of the Protocol office, the office in which Dalia worked. Confronted with the biggest leadership challenge of his career, General Ferguson had to decide if, and how, to tell Dalia about their encounter years earlier. This episode is about service. It's about leadership when it matters most. And it's about what it means to live a life shaped by loss, and still find purpose on the other side. It's raw, it's real, and it's one to never forget.Special thanks to General Ferguson and Dalia for their openness and willingness to share the rare bond they hold. Thanks to the USASOC Historian's office for hosting us. On September 8, 1985, dozens gathered on Keeler Avenue in Chicago, IL for a friend's birthday party. In the early morning hours, while walking back to the party after getting cigarettes, 19-year-old Ivan Mena and 21-year-old Bouvier "Bobby" Garcia broke up a fight between 16-year-old Reynaldo “Scooby" Munoz and another partygoer. Munoz walked home after that fight, but Mena and Garcia returned to the party. Shortly after, around 4am, Mena and Garcia were shot. Garcia survived, but Mena did not. Within days, Munoz was arrested for the shooting, and as a result of misconduct from since-disgraced Chicago police detective Reynaldo Guevara and his partner Ernest Halvorsen, Munoz was tried, convicted, and sentenced to 60 years in prison. Hello Seattle Mariners fans! Evan. Zach and Max are here, but what is there to even say? Capping of a legendary, historic first half, Cal Raleigh won the Home Run Derby in underdog fashion while taking pitches from his dad, throwing to his 15 year old brother (catching) with Randy, BWoo and Munoz as his hype men. Can it get any better than this? Where does this moment rank not just in the halls of Cal Raleigh lore, but Mariner lore at large? How big is this moment in the micro and the macro? What words are there even to describe a catcher doing *gestures around* all this? Wyman & Bob break down how the Mariners were able to have their worst loss of the season, losing 6-5 to the Yankees after Bryan Woo took a no-hitter into the 8th inning. Munoz was apparently tipping his pitches in the 9th inning that led to the Yankees tying the game. // Take Two: Julio Rodriguez announced that he will not be participating in the All-Star game, and Randy Arozarena has been named his replacement. Chargers running back Najee Harris sustained an eye injury from a firework at a 4th of July event. // We give you the second part of our interview with comedian Jeremy Piven. He explains how he was able to acquire the language skills to play each role well, he wanted to stay in the character’s mindset through the whole process. He also talks about some actors that helped him in his career. // We give you our WHYMAN of the week & your Mean Texts!
Headlines and Oh no! Now last night's loss sucks even more… We have proof that Munoz was, in fact, tipping pitches. How were no adjustments made? The Yankees couldn't have made it more obvious that they knew what Munoz was throwing and Cal knew it and talked to Munoz, but it continued. :30- ABCs of the Mariners - F is for Fielding- does Cal deserve some criticism for missing the tag at home? - G is for Goldsmith- you have to be able to mention a no-hitter during a broadcast, it's part of the job. :45- We've got 12 days til Seahawks Training Camp- has the offensive line improved?

What happens when you realize you've stopped caring about the very people you're meant to serve? For Brenda Munoz, that moment came when a laborer asked her to leave and find someone else to help him. "You're very nice," he said, "but I can tell you're trying to rush this." That wake-up call transformed not just Brenda's career, but how she thinks about leadership itself. Today, as Associate Benefits Director at the Laborers' Fund of Northern California, she oversees benefits for 30,000 workers who build America's infrastructure—and she's reimagining what it means to serve a workforce that's largely male, Hispanic, and often working far from home. In this episode of Inspiring Women with Laurie McGraw, Brenda also speaks about: Why language barriers and literacy challenges make benefits accessibility a social justice issue How empowering 53 employees (mostly women) creates ripple effects for thousands of families What it means to lead for both the laborers AND the women who serve them Why self-reliance and having a voice are the foundations of workplace empowerment How Hispanic women can transform from "doing the paperwork" to leading the organization What changes when you shift from "What do I want?" to "What will help us become better?" Charlie Furbush joins the show and explains to Wyman & Bob what is going wrong with this Mariners team that has gone on a free fall since the beginning of May. How does Charlie think Dan Wilson is doing so far in his first full season as the Mariners manager? How confident is he in the Mariners starting rotation that has been filled with injuries? // Would calling up Harry Ford be a good option for the Mariners to kick start this offense to get back to where they need to be? Would that be a big enough fix to help this team get back in the win column or do more moves need to be made? // Why has the Mariners bullpen struggled this season compared to seasons past? Outside of Brash and Munoz, this bullpen has been on a downswing in terms of performance and ERA.
