Welcome Friends to Let's Pod it Out: An Entourage Podcast, hosted by Nando Vila (@nandorvila) and Miguel Tamayo (who is too cool for twitter). Why Entourage you ask? Well, it's because Entourage is the perfect window to our recent past to see just how much things have changed in the last 10-15 years. Listen in to take a trip down memory lane, have a couple laughs, and appreciate just how young and dumb we all were in the mid aughts.
Nando and Armenian Greg are back after a short hiatus to discuss Entourage S3E6 "Three's Company", AKA the one where E has a threesome.
Nando and Armenian Greg break down Entourage Season 3 Episode 5 "Crash and Burn". Will Vince be able to do Aquaman 2 AND Medellin? The stakes couldn't be higher!!!
Late night on a Friday drop for all you weekend warriors out there getting LIT. This episode Nando and Armenian Greg talk about Entourage S3E4 "Guys and Doll", AKA the episode where Vince tries to get MEDELLIN but Dom puts the whole thing in Jeopardy.
Nando and Armenian Greg are back to riff on Donald Trump, Hooters, Porn, and Entourage Season 3 Episode 3 of Entourage "DOMINATED", aka the one with Dom aka Herc from The Wire. Dom is a figure from the boys' past who comes into their lives after being released from prison, and immediately brings the chaos!
Sorry we're a few hours late on the upload but really, this is legitimately one of the greatest Entourage episodes of all time.
We're into Season 3 (or is it 3a?) of Entourage, the greatest show of all time. The boys are feeling good after production on Aquaman, and are anxiously awaiting the premiere. Only.... VInce doesn't have a date!!! Meanwhile Ari suffers from a cash shortage as he tries to build his new agency and has to turn to the last source he'd ever want... Lady Ari.
GUYS GUYS GUYS WE'RE BACK!! Well, sorta. Miguel is no longer part of the show because he got a big corporate job and he'd get in trouble if he did this stupid show. So my good friend Armenian Greg steps in as permanent co-host to break down the SEASON FINALE of Entourage's second season: "The Abyss". In this episod, the BOYS ARE IN CRISIS. Vince is heartbroken and doesn't want to do Aquaman. Will he change his mind? Let's find out!!!!
Miguel and Nando are back after a bit of a break from Entourage. This time they are joined by Vince Mancini, Senior Film&Culture Writer at Uproxx. He's also the host of the Frotcast and "Pod Yourself a Gun", the Sopranos re-watch podcast. So he's very good at re-watching HBO shows. In this episode, Ari Gold makes his move and tries to launch a massive exodus from his agency, but it goes sideways thanks to Adam Davies' betrayal. Also, Vince is just super cucked by Mandy Moore. Here is the official HBO description: "Vince is blinded by love, and Eric gets cozy with Sloan. Meanwhile, Ari gets shot down in the war room, and Drama and Turtle use their paparazzi skills on an important spy mission."
The boys are back with a fresh Entourage ep and this week they're helped by smarty-pants historian Daniel Bessner (@dbessner). Danny joins the gang to break down Season 2 Episode 12 "Good Morning Saigon". Vince is totally whipped by Mandy and the reps for both stars are VERY concerned. Ari lies to Vince and tells him that even James Cameron is concerned. Meanwhile, Turtle and Drama go on an adventure to sign an up and coming rapper named Saigon. Daniel discusses the "pre-millennial sensibility" of Entourage, while also going deep on the Jessica Krug/Jess La Bombolera controversy, which Miguel had never heard of before. Here is the official HBO Description:"When Vince and his co-star act out of character, Ari and Eric must face a team of angry handlers--and each other. Meanwhile, Drama and Turtle make a musical discovery while retrieving a stolen car." At the top of the episode Nando says this the 19th episode of "Let's Pod it Out", but it's actually the 20th. We regret the error.
Miguel and Nando are BACK after a brief hiatus. And you know what? They're back better than ever because they are joined by the brilliant Ben Burgis (@benburgis) to break down Entourage S2E11 "Blue Balls Lagoon". The boys are reeling because Vince is now OFFICIALLY with Mandy Moore. They smell trouble and it only gets worse when the press finds out about the secret relationship. Drama is excited because he's doing a Movie of the Week with Brooke Shields, while Ari scrambles to keep his client happy while his boss Terence tries to poach him. Stick around til the end of the episode to hear which Entourage character Ben would radicalize using "logic" and "facts". Here is the official HBO description:"Vince receives courting lessons from Terrance and a valuable gift from Ari, Shauna flips over a press leak, and Eric gets attention--and ammo--from Terrance's daughter Sloan. Meanwhile, Drama grows overexcited about a co-star, and Turtle plays ambassador for Vince."
Miguel and Nando are joined by Zack Stentz (@MuseZack), a real deal screenwriter in "the biz". Zack has screenwriting credits on Thor, X-Men first class, Agent Cody Banks, and many many others. He's also doing a quarantine Entourage re-watch and has a ton of insider knowledge of the show. The boys broke down S2E10 "The Bat Mitzvah", aka the episode where we meet Ari's boss Malcolm McDowell. It's Ari's daughter's Bat Mitzvah, but Ari is more worried that his more powerful boss and mentor is trying to steal Vincent Chase. Meanwhile, Vince and Eric fight over Malcolm Mcdowell's daughter, the beautiful and charming Sloan. Turtle and Drama get the munchies. Here's the official HBO description: "Vince gets up-front about his feelings for Aquagirl, sending everyone into a panic. Meanwhile, Ari's partner Terrance resurfaces, Eric splurges on an 'investment' suit, and Drama and Turtle have high hopes for Little Miss Ari's Bat Mitzvah."
Miguel and Nando are joined by Steve Hely (@helytimes) to break down S2E9 "I Love You Too". Steve is a real-life Hollywood writer, having written for shows like Veep, American Dad, and Late Night with David Letterman. He's also, crucially, a podcaster. On this episode thee gang heads to Comic-Con!!!! Vince is still worked up about the fact that Mandy Moore is engaged and thus unavailable. Drama re-unites with a former Viking Quest co-star and the sparks fly. Meanwhile E has to try and appease a very powerful nerd blogger who is threatening to tank Aquaman before it even comes out. Oh, and there's porn stars in this episode.Miguel, Nando, and Steve go off on several tangents, including the 2001 film "Swordfish" and the original Punk'd. Here is the official HBO description: "Vince makes a splash at a convention with his new co-star. When neither Eric nor Shauna can appease a bitter journalist, Turtle sends a pair of professionals to the rescue. Ari gives Drama a rockin' birthday gift."
Nando and Miguel are joined by Brett Erlich (@bretterlich), the host of "Happy Half Hour" on The Young Turks network. Together they breakdown Entourage S2E8 "Oh, Mandy" aka The Mandy Moore episode. Before being an internet star, Brett actually worked in the agency world so he brings a very unique insight to the show. The boys finally get some financial relief as the first 2 million dollar check for Aquaman arrives. But now the studio has to choose which actress plays Aquagirl and James Cameron's favorite is none other than Pop Star Mandy Moore. The problem is that Vince and Mandy had a fling when they did "A Walk to Remember" and things got a little ugly. Meanwhile Johnny Drama is pissed off that the boys move to Malibu because it's harder for him to get to auditions. That all changes when he lands an audition for a Hallmark Channel Movie of the Week starring Joe Mantegna. Here is the official HBO description: "One of the names on the short list to play 'Aquagirl' exposes a secret from Vince's past that makes Eric feel slighted. Ari gets bumped from an important list. Drama and Turtle try to enjoy their temporary new house."
Miguel and Nando are shaking in their boots as they welcome their first ever WOMAN guest on the podcast, the great Emma Vigeland from The Young Turks. Emma is a tough as nails reporter who doesn't take any crap, but she's also funny and smart and brings a hilarious perspective to S2E7 "The Sundance Kids", aka The Harvey Weinstein episode. The Boys GO TO SUNDANCE!!!!! It's finally here!! James Cameron is finally going to see Vinnie in Queens Boulevard. Except... he's also here to see Ryan Gosling, and James Franco... uh oh. E gets a meeting with Harvey "Weingard" who offers Vince a starring role in his long-dormant surfing movie. Ari urges Vince to take it, but Vince wants to hold out to see what Cameron thinks.Meanwhile Drama and Turtle compete over a sweet innocent girl from Pasadena... who may not be that innocent after all. Don't forget to follow Emma on twitter @emmavigeland. Here is the official show description: "Within moments of arriving at Sundance, Eric lands a lunch with studio bigwig--and gets an offer for Vince that might be too good to refuse. Ari advises him to play it safe, and Vince wants to roll the dice. Turtle and Drama don't want to share."
Miguel is NOT dead. In fact, Miguel is BACK ON THE POD to help Nando breakdown Entourage S2E5 "Chinatown". The boys are broke and need money. Turtle decides to join an EA Sports Fight Night tournament. Ari comes to Vince with a way to make a quick buck: A Chinese Commercial directed by one of the best Hong Kong filmmakers. Meanwhile E is desperate to get the print of Queens Boulevard so he can show it to James Cameron and salvage the Aquaman deal. Miguel and Nando also go deep on Hamlet 2, Brandon Lee's death in the crow, whether Sharon Stone is in Mensa. Here is the official HBO description: "Ari encourages Vince to shoot a lucrative foreign commercial, and Drama wants to get in on the action. Eric struggles to convince Walsh to release an advance print of 'Queens Blvd.' Turtle preps for an Xbox tournament."
After Nando was abandoned by both his co-host Miguel and his guest Emma, he called up his good friend Greg Minasian from @Spreadhouse to fill the void. Greg bravely stepped up to the plate and hit it out of the park as he helped Nando break down Entourage's S2E5 "Neighbors", including the loss of innocence when we found out Bob Saget was not, in fact, America's Dad, and whether a prostitute would ever turn down $100k for a single night with a john. In this Episode Vince and the boys are really scrambling as it looks like the deal for Aquaman is falling apart. Meanwhile, they meet their new neighbors, one of whom Vince is sleeping with, and while the other is none other than Bob Saget himself. Here is HBO's description: "Vince discovers why his gorgeous neighbor Staci has been so friendly. Eric regrets the past when he has to get through yet another gate kept by Emily. Ari tries to blackmail Dana into getting a meeting with an important director. When Drama and Turtle curb their spending, Vince grows suspicious."
Miguel and Nando breakdwon Season 2 Episode 4 of Entourage "An Offer Refused". The boys are riding on a high with the new house and the new big movie... except they haven't officially gotten the offer for Aquaman yet. Things get really heated when they find out the legendary James Cameron is in talks to direct the movie. Meanwhile, Drama visits a plastic surgeon to discuss his calf implants. Miguel and Nando also go deep on various things like bowling shirt, their experience at The Sundance Film Festival, and the classic Sam Worthington movie "Man on a Ledge". Here is the official HBO Description: As Vince and Turtle are carried away by top-dollar decorating, Eric is anxious to get an offer in writing; Drama decides on elective surgery to 'augment' his livelihood; Ari breaks a deal in therapy with Mrs. Ari; and hotshot director Billy has big news about 'Queens Blvd.'
Miguel and Nando are back from a (very) brief hiatus to breakdown S2E3 "Aquamansion", in which Vinny and the boys are gearing up to go to a lingerie party at the Playboy Mansion. But before that they go house hunting, and end up settling on a little pied-à-terre formerly owned by one Marlon Brando, who, as Vinny helpfully points out to us, was a good actor. Miguel and Nando then go deep on Marlon Brando's tragic personal life, whether body paint is "woke", and the ins and outs of Pauly Shore. Here is the official HBO description: "When Vince falls for a house outside his price range, he suddenly sees the value of doing a franchise film. Meanwhile, the boys get psyched for a slumber party at the Mansion--but Drama's been 'banned for life' by Hef; Eric pressures Ari to prove himself as a deal-maker; and Turtle puts his faith in big-ticket sleepwear."
Miguel and Nando break down "My Maserati Goes 185", which is of course a timely reference to Joe Walsh. Vince gifts E a Maserati for his big sex date with his own girlfriend, but things go awry when Kristen cancels due to food poisoning. The boys get inside E's head and convince him she's cheating on him, so he does the only thing he can which is cheat on her with a perfect ten model. Meanwhile, Drama gets very insecure about his calves. We talk a little bit about the 2004 movie Torque because Jamie Pressley is mad at Vince for passing on it. Here is a link to the trailer. It's a blatant ripoff of Fast and the Furious only this time... it's with motorcycles!!!! It has to be seen to be believed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olxto6CgFPoHere is the official HBO description of the episode: "Vince agrees to a starlet's pet project; Eric reluctantly lets a Perfect Ten model 'take care of him' at a beach party, where Turtle misrepresents his position to get a girl; Drama develops calf envy; and Ari gets steamed up convincing the boys to read the 'Aquaman' script."
Miguel and Nando are back after a (very) brief hiatus to discuss the season 2 premiere "The Boys Are Back In Town". Vinny and the boys are back from their three month sojourn in New York and have wrapped shooting on "Queens Boulevard". After three months of celibacy, E is desperate to get laid but his girlfriend Kristen doesn't want to have sex while she's on her period. Meanwhile, Ari tries to get Vinny the movie role of a lifetime with "Aquaman", but Vinny is hesitant to do a superhero movie.
Miguel and Nando are joined this week by Wosny Lambre aka the Hatian Sensation aka @bigwos from the Count The Dings Network and The Athletic. Wos sits down with the boys to discuss the season 1 finale "New York", as the crew wraps everything up before heading to New York to shoot the indie flick "Queens Boulevard". But as Vince tries to settle all his booty calls before heading back east, E is worried that his relationship with Vince lacks professionalism. Here's the official HBO description "In the Season One finale, Eric wants a title commensurate with his responsibilities. With his latest shoot taking him to New York for three months, Vince prepares to say goodbye to L.A.--and his many 'special' girlfriends. Meanwhile, Drama debates between a high-paying TV role or a low-paying film gig, and Turtle stakes a claim as Vince's 'farewell party' promoter."
On this episode we are thrilled to have the comedian and co-host of the "Pod Yourself a Gun" Sopranos Podcast, my good friend Matt Lieb! We discuss the iconic Billy Walsh episode, in which the pretentious director wants to shoot a scene with Vince getting a blowjob from a guy. It's great and we had a ton of fun, although no one blew anybody. Here's the episode description: "Eric is concerned over the choice of director--an indie loose cannon named Billy Walsh--for Vince's new film. Meanwhile, Drama lobbies for a supporting role, while Ari finds he can't mix business with pleasure."
Miguel and Nando are joined by their first ever guest on "Let's Pod it Out": The one and only Michael Brooks from "The Michael Brooks Show". He comes on to discuss one of the most iconic episodes in the history of Entourage: The Gary Busey episode. Ari's former assistant Josh, now a competing agent, woos Vince and the boys at a wild Malibu beach party. Drama ponders an alternate career in the food-service industry; Eric puts Emily in a compromising position; and Turtle irritates Gary Busey at an art opening.
Vince's fling with a 'cruelty-free' vegan named Fiona--and her friendship with a laid-back L.A. 'sherpa'--brings unexpected karma to the entourage. Eric pushes a promising new script set in Queens; Drama fears the disruptive power of his friends' new relationships; and Turtle barters boots for booty.
Vince decides to celebrate the opening night of his latest movie, 'Head On,' with a group date--to Eric's chagrin. Drama's pumped-up gal pal Tanya struts her stuff at a bowling alley; Turtle taps into Vince's fan mail for some action; and Vince turns on the charm with unsullied pop vixen Justine Chapin.
After meeting Jimmy Kimmel at a boxing after-party in L.A., Vince agrees to appear on his show--despite a long-standing rift between Kimmel and Drama. Eric and Kristen share a long goodbye; Ari puts the full-court press on Sarah Silverman; and Luke Wilson tells Turtle how to score a free home-theater system for Vince.
Ignoring the cautionary portents of a negative review, Vince ramps up his already-excessive spending by leasing a new Rolls-Royce. Ari urges Vince to get a real manager, causing a wounded Eric to do some soul-searching. Meanwhile, Drama skips a 'Vagina Monologues' rehearsal to join Vince and the entourage at a wild party hosted by actress Jessica Alba.
Welcome Friends to the first ever episode of Let's Pod it Out: An Entourage Podcast, hosted by Nando Vila (@nandorvila) and Miguel Tamayo (who is too cool for twitter). Why Entourage you ask? Well, it's because Entourage is the perfect window to our recent past to see just how much things have changed in the last 10-15 years. In this Episode, we get a glimpse of the boys as they discuss Warren Beatty's dick size. We establish that E needs to get laid to get over his girlfriend, and he ultimately needs to stand up to the bullies that surround him: Turtle, Drama, and of course Ari. Oh, and Vince does his usual "don't worry about it" shtick.
