Look at our [stuff]! Yes, it's time for Pop Screen to don its neon balaclava and tackle one of the most iconic and divisive pop movies of the 2010s - Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers. With Selena Gomez and Gucci Mane in the cast, Skrillex on the soundtrack and James Franco playing a character who is legally distinct from Riff Raff, it has more showbiz connections than you'd expect from a director whose previous movie was shot on VHS and involved people in latex masks having sex with garbage bags.Join Graham and Robyn as they discuss the film's value as a time capsule, the past and future of its mostly Disney Channel-drawn stars, Korine's journey from Kids screenwriter to EDGLRD (yes, that is the name of his streaming service) and so much more. We also hear a joke about John Landis that genuinely appalls Graham, and the police show up. ICYMI, this episode originally aired in 2024 about 6 months before Heidi and Spencer lost their house in the devastating LA wildfires, I loved having Spencer on the show. He was so open about his career highs and lows. Today Spencer candidly discusses his career and personal life. Spencer opens up about the challenges his crystal business, Pratt Daddy Crystals, faces due to competition from global sellers, particularly from China. He also shares exciting news about his upcoming reality show on Hulu and a movie project with James Franco. Additionally, Spencer talks about his friendship with Brody Jenner and their plans for a potential dad-themed podcast. Plus, will ‘Speidi's 16th Minute' podcast return or no? Bruce Vilanch has written monologues for Oscars hosts like Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Steve Martin, Ellen DeGeneres, David Letterman, and more. And in this episode, he not only shares some of his favorite jokes, but also reveals which of the many hosts he worked with over more than two decades gave him the most trouble. As the 97th annual Academy Awards approach this weekend, Vilanch walks through the highs and lows of his illustrious Oscars career, from nearly blowing it his first time out with the disastrous Rob Lowe and Snow White opening, through the game-changing Billy Crystal years, to the Anne Hathaway and James Franco-hosted year that marked the unfortunate end of his long run. Along the way, he also shares some shocking stories about Oscar presenters, including his jaw-dropping theory about the origins of that Richard Gere gerbil rumor—and reveals why he turned down the opportunity to write for the very first season of ‘Saturday Night Live.' Send us a textWhat would you do if you found yourself trapped in a remote canyon with your survival hanging by a thread? Aron Ralston, whose incredible story of resilience was captured in both his book "127 Hours" and the film adaptation starring James Franco, joins us on The Poultry Leadership Podcast to share his remarkable journey. Facing a life-or-death decision after being pinned by a boulder, Aron reveals the mental strength and innovative thinking that saw him through 127 grueling hours to an astonishing rescue. His story is a testament to the power of human determination, transforming a harrowing ordeal into a transformative life lesson. As Aron takes us through his post-rescue journey, we delve into the themes of overcoming adversity and choosing growth in the face of life's toughest challenges. Aron's perspective on viewing setbacks as opportunities resonates throughout, demonstrating how even the most traumatic experiences can be reframed into blessings that encourage personal growth and a renewed appreciation for life's extraordinary moments. But it's not just Aron's story on the table. We also celebrate the unsung heroes of our everyday sustenance: farmers. It turns out that Annapolis, directed by Justin Lin, is basically the same movie as The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. It's perfect for the Oops! lap. We talk about how it feels like every movie you've ever seen, Tyrese... with hair?, and how Brian Goodman essentially plays Sean's Dad in this movie (but also the exact opposite?). We break down the movie's racism (toward all people), Jordana Brewster as an "escort," and Snickers sandwiches. We try to determine how old James Franco's character is supposed to be -- and whether or not he could have played Sean in Tokyo Drift. Joe airs a scheduling grievance with Joey, wonders how much naval prep Tyrese and Franco did for this movie, and shares the surprising plot twist that delighted him. Long story short that episode got lost in the shuffle never to be found again. We did look for it high and low but no luck. The good news is is that the universe that we live in right now as particles of energy and light always brings you exactly what you need and the universe came through again. We recently found the lost episode and are very happy to share it (unedited) with the world. This piece of art has been lost for too long and now everyone can enjoy it. There's a raging debate during this episode one that may never come to a conclusion but take a listen and tell us what you think. We hope you enjoyed the conversation and the debate as much as we did! #lostepisode, #pekingman, #Incas, #spongebob, #dbcooper, #faberge, #elmo, #coreyfeldman, #jamesfranco, #nationaltreasure
James Franco visits Google to discuss writing, directing, producing and starring in his film "The Disaster Artist.” The movie is based on Greg Sestero's best-selling tell-all book about the making of Tommy Wiseau's cult-classic disasterpiece The Room, often referred to as “The Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made”. In the film, Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero become friends after meeting each other in an acting class in San Francisco. Hoping to achieve Hollywood stardom, Sestero moves to Los Angeles and signs on to appear in Wiseau's project. Financed with his own money, Wiseau writes, directs and stars in "The Room," a critically maligned movie that becomes a cult classic. The film also stars Dave Franco, Seth Rogen and Zac Efron. Bruce Vilanch Live on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson We were Live with 6x Emmy Winner, Bruce Vilanch, even though he only stakes genuine claim to 2 of them, he's got 6. Well, he was awarded 6, he gave one to his mother, one to his manager, one to his business manager, and he's got 2 in his possession. They all still count, Bruce. And they're all deserved. This human has brought so much joy, and so much laughter to audiences around the globe for decades. Bruce has written for 24 Oscar broadcasts, was head writer for 14 of them, and collaborated with hosts such as Whoopi Goldberg, David Letterman, and Billy Crystal, we talked about all of those: fun with Whoopi, outsider Dave, magic with Billy, and the infamous Rob Lowe/ Snow White monologue, difficult Ellen, no surprise there, wildness with Jack Palance, apologies from James Franco, great stories, all! We talked the Hollywood Squares, which brought Bruce front and center - put him on camera, made him a celebrity, helped him land Hairspray and his star turn as Edna Turnblat on Broadway… how the show worked, great tales about Little Richard, Garth Brooks having the funny, Whoopi, again, John Davidson hosting and the adlib that brought the house down, or was it? Starting as a child actor, always funny, writing the funny for the Chicago Tribune, meeting Bette Midler, a relationship that has spanned 55 years and has been a game and life changer. Writing for Joan Rivers, Lily Tomlin, Robin Williams, Roseanne, Nathan Lane, and pretty much everyone else in Hollywood. The pandemic kept Bruce busy - his book, It Seemed Like a Bad Idea at the Time, drops March 4th and is available for pre-order now https://www.amazon.com/Seemed-Like-Bad-Idea-Time/dp/0914091921 he wrote the book for the Dolly Parton musical, Here You Come Again, which has enjoyed successful runs across the states and is currently readying a run in London's West End. Bruce is featured in Studio One Forever, about America's first iconic gay disco, streaming now on Prime. Bruce is everywhere and has done everything. Indefatigable and talented beyond compare, Bruce can get inside the head of just about anyone - be them and make them funny. Funnier. What a gift. He's a treasure. I adore him and I'm damn grateful he never stops working. Do us all a continued favor, Bruce, stay busy! Amid the buzz surrounding the theatrical release of Wicked, The Film Buff takes a moment to remind everyone of the overlooked brilliance of 2013's Oz the Great and Powerful. This visually stunning film, directed by Sam Raimi, scored by Danny Elfman, and backed by the magic of Walt Disney Pictures, seems to have faded from memory—possibly due to the controversy surrounding its star, James Franco. It's a wonder this ambitious and beautifully crafted movie isn't more fondly remembered.

It is a privilege to welcome actor John Hickman to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. John had always been interested in acting, but it wasn't until he won the opportunity to play a part in True Blood that he realized it was a path for him. His first scene on the HBO series turned into several more, and soon he became a part of Joe Manganiello's “wolf pack,” which included the opportunity to work with live wolves in Season Five. John Hickman also worked on shows like The Originals and The Vampire Diaries on the CW. As a go-to character actor, John worked alongside some of Hollywood's biggest names, such as Bruce Willis, Ed Harris, James Franco, Nikki Glaser, Peter Facinelli, and Pierce Brosnan. While his acting career was taking off, he was secretly battling an alcohol addiction. After filming four films back-to-back, John wound up in the hospital due to his drinking. However, it was an on-set meeting with Al Pacino that led him to get clean and sober. While detoxing on his next set, the Emmy and Oscar-winning actor pulled him aside one day and told him he needed to improve. John took that life-changing advice to heart and went to rehab, returning later to finish the film. In addition to acting, John is dedicated to philanthropy. In 2011, he established the John Herman Hickman Foundation to aid victims of natural disasters and provide scholarships to the children of Peco Foods employees. His charitable efforts also extend to the West Alabama Humane Society and other organizations. On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, John Hickman discussed how he got into acting later in life, how an encounter with legendary actor Al Pacino changed his life, and his work on GUNNER (starring Morgan Freeman and Luke Hemsworth) and Barron's Cove (starring Garrett Hedlund, Hamish Linklater, and Brittany Snow).Let's connect on social media! Have you ever seen dozens of Timothee Chalamets at once? A park in New York did when a look alike contest was held. Halloween was last week and the celebs didn't waste any money. Kim Kardashian was a full on albino alligator, Beyonce was Prince, Kylie and Kendall were Lizzie McGuire and Isabella from the Lizzie McGuire movie, and the list goes on and on. Best pals no more. Apparently Seth Rogen will no longer speak to James Franco after his sexual misconduct allegations a few years ago. It's probably safe to say we aren't getting any more stoner movies from them. Chappell Roan was on SNL this weekend as a performer and she sang a new unreleased song, The Giver. Very country vibes. Kristin Cavallari's ex, Mark Estes, is the newest face of Skims and I ain't mad about it. Meryl Streep and Celine Dion both attended Adele shows this week. Move over RHOSL and SLOMW, there's a new show in town. Sold On SLC is a new reality show about Utah Realtors coming December 4th. Also, London is getting their own Real Housewives franchise. Jeffree Star and Trisha Paytas have seemingly made amends and Jeffree might be a guest on the Just Trish podcast. Fans of the Scary Movie franchise will be very happy because Scary Movie 6 is officially in the works. Also all of you Game of Thrones freaks, there's a movie coming for you too. Lady Gaga's new song Disease is all I can think about. And the music video? Don't even get me started. I was fortunate enough to get a ticket to see Sabrina Carpenter at the Delta Center and I was NOT disappointed. Thanks for listening!

Aron Ralston is an American mountaineer, engineer, and outdoors enthusiast known for his remarkable survival story. His most famous ordeal took place in 2003 when he became trapped in a remote Utah canyon and had to resort to extreme measures to save his own life. Here's a summary of Aron Ralston's survival story:Trapped in Blue John Canyon: In April 2003, Aron Ralston embarked on a solo hiking trip in Blue John Canyon, located in the remote Canyonlands National Park in Utah. While descending a narrow slot canyon, a boulder became dislodged and pinned his right arm against the canyon wall, trapping him in a life-threatening situation.Desperate Measures: Ralston spent several days trapped in the canyon, unable to free himself or attract help. He had limited supplies, including water and food, and his situation grew increasingly dire. With no hope of rescue in sight, he made the agonizing decision to amputate his own arm to escape certain death.Self-Amputation: Using a multi-tool and other improvised tools, Ralston painfully amputated his right arm just below the elbow. The act of self-amputation was a harrowing ordeal and a last resort to free himself from the boulder.Rescued: After amputating his arm, Ralston rappelled down a 65-foot cliff and hiked several miles until he encountered a family on a hiking trip. They provided him with the assistance he needed and alerted authorities, ultimately leading to his rescue.Inspirational Survival: Aron Ralston's remarkable survival story became widely known and was later adapted into a bestselling book titled "Between a Rock and a Hard Place." The story also inspired the 2010 film "127 Hours," directed by Danny Boyle and starring James Franco as Ralston.(commercial at 7:53)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

In the latest round of OLD NEWS with former guest Emily Colucci (creator of the art & culture website Filthy Dreams), we cover: cancel culture through the lens of James Franco (who was part of our original recording back in 2016) and Louis C.K.; Cai Guo-Qiang's botched fireworks performance at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum as part of PST Art's ‘Science and Art'-themed mega-art event, including injured spectators; our own thoughts and feelings about fireworks, particularly of the neighborhood kind, and how Emily kind of loves the tacky spectacle of them; how California College of the Arts is considering closing its doors, and whether it's surprising there aren't more private art schools that are closing or on the verge of doing so; how and why the art market is struggling, and how Emily is frustrated that if nobody is selling anything anyway, why is everyone putting on boring shows?; how Emily tends not to interact with gallery-sitters/gallerinas, having been one herself (at Sikkema Jenkins) and just wanting the visitor to leave already; and our respective strategic approaches to gallery-hopping with an emphasis on efficiency and avoiding everything blurring together at the end of the day.
