The star of “Nobody 2”, Bob Oedenkirk, typically plays sleazy, cowardly, funny characters, like in “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul.” However, in the “Nobody” movies, he gets to stretch his acting chops by playing an unassuming, middle-aged, ass-kicking secret agent, named Hutch Mansell, balancing life with a wife and two kids. In this sequel, since he's always gone dishing out pain, his family is under strain. He's a neglecting husband and an absent Dad. It's time for urgent action to remedy the situation. It's serious time for a family vacation. As you find out, Hutch kinda sucks at planning a vacation and he ends up taking his family to an old, dilapidated vacation resort called Plummerville. They try to make the best of it until trouble finds them and some bad guys make Hutch turn the vacation into a slaycation. Is it worth going to the theater to find out what happens next? Find out in this episode of Movies Merica! “Nobody 2” also stars Connie Nielsen, Christopher Lloyd, John Ortiz, RZA, Sharon Stone, Colin Hanks, Gage Munroe, Paisley Cadorath, Colin Salmon, Jacob Blair and Daniel Bernhardt. In this episode, host Richard Roeper breaks down Bob Odenkirk's insights on the future of “Better Call Saul” and MSNBC's rebrand to MS NOW. Cupcake's favorite action filmmakers 87North (David Leitch and Kelly McCormack's production company) return with “Nobody 2” starring Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielson, Sharon Stone, RZA, John Ortiz, Christopher Lloyd, and Daniel Bernhardt. 87North might be having the same kind of year as BlumHouse with lackluster audience reception to previous releases Love Hurts and Ballerina. Will this action comedy sequel directed by Indo-Asian action filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto in his US debut break the bad streak? And what will WillDaBeast and Cupcake think about this second go around with Hutch and his family vacation ruined by a run-in with a female girl-boss gangster? You'll be surprised who gives this one a “skip” (!)Meanwhile: Mike pluses his live concert experience with LCD Soundsystem (guess what? In this week's episode, Kevin, Tom, and Joe break down 'Nobody 2'. The sequel follows Bob Odenkirk's character, Hutch, as he navigates through a family vacation that turns into an explosive surprise for the whole family. They humorously appreciate the callbacks to 80s action movies, the over-the-top booby-trap sequences, and Sharon Stone's delightfully evil performance.Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/91lafjyoVKgSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/reelspoilers. With Indonesian action director Timo Tjahjanto stepping into the director's chair and returning screenwriter Derek Kolstad (along with Aaron Rabin) setting the story in the fictional vacation town of Plummerville, there are enough new elements to warrant a sequel, but how do they all mix together? Shauna reveals her deep but temporary jealousy of Olivia, because of her amazing experience seeing Lady Gaga in concert, but is soon over it. Then the Junkies get right to the topic: that specific genre of mainstream movies where at least one member of a married couple desperately want to kill someone - maybe even their spouse. Thinking all the way back to the 1980s to movies like The Shining and War of the Roses, to The Roses, the upcoming remake of that film starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia and Shauna explore those movies where a marriage can literally be murder. It's the head to head nobody was asking for in 2025. Once again our cultural timing is spot on. This week the boys revisit Antz and A Bug's Life to see which truly is the quintessential CGI-bug movie of the late 90s.Antz is a 1998 American animated adventure comedy film directed by Eric Darnell and Tim Johnson from a screenplay written by Todd Alcott and the writing team of Chris and Paul Weitz. Produced by DreamWorks Pictures, the film stars the voices of Woody Allen, Sharon Stone, Jennifer Lopez, Sylvester Stallone, Christopher Walken, Dan Aykroyd, Anne Bancroft, Danny Glover and Gene Hackman.A Bug's Life (stylized in all lowercase) is a 1998 American animated comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. It is Pixar's second feature-length film, following Toy Story (1995). The film was directed by John Lasseter and co-directed by Andrew Stanton, from a screenplay written by Stanton. It stars the voices of Dave Foley, Kevin Spacey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Hayden Panettiere.
This week we're saddling up with The Quick and the Dead (1995), Sam Raimi's spaghetti western by way of a Looney Tunes fever dream. Sharon Stone rides into town with a score to settle, Russell Crowe tries to outrun his past, and Gene Hackman chews the scenery like it's a steak he overcooked himself. Leonardo DiCaprio is all charm and babyface bravado, and every gunfight is a crash zoom carnival of smoke, sweat, and a ticking clock. It's duels at high noon, showdowns at sundown, and the kind of over-the-top visual flair that makes you wonder if the camera's going to start shooting bullets too. Welcome to Director Watch! On this AwardsWatch podcast, co-hosts Ryan McQuade and Jay Ledbetter attempt to breakdown, analyze, and ultimately, get inside the mind of some of cinema's greatest auteurs. In doing so, they will look at their filmographies, explore what drives them artistically and what makes their decision making process so fascinating. Add in a few silly tangents and a fun game at the end of the episode and you've got yourself a podcast we truly hope you love. On episode 107 of the Director Watch Podcast, the boys are joined by film critic Brandon Streussnig discuss the latest film in their Paul Verhoeven series, Basic Instinct (1992). We enter a new chapter in the Verhoeven series, as the guys talk about one of the most iconic erotic-thrillers of all time with the most iconic image of the genre. But beyond that one scene lies an ode to Hitchcock, as we follow a sleazy detective down a rabbit hole of deception, sex, and murder as he investigates the death of a wealthy rock star, and the prime suspect is his old girlfriend, a writer whom wrote about his death in her latest book. Purposive, wild, and slightly progressive and regressive at the same time, Basic Instinct is the crown jewel of a type of film that audiences used to obsess over, perfectly made by a director at the height of his powers, featuring an all-time performance from Sharon Stone. Ryan, Jay, and Brandon breakdown their thoughts on the film, the history of the erotic thriller, the controversy over the iconic scene, how sex is weaponized throughout, the introduction to Joe Eszterhas as a writer to the world, the laughable sequel made several years later, ice picks, and just how good of a cop is Michael Douglas' Nick Curran. CATch Her in IMAX! On this week's episode of Hot Dave's Summer Film Fest Vol. V: The Future is Super Female!, Halle Berry plays Patience Phillips, a super hot nerd who is turned into a super hot Catwoman, as she battles a stone faced Sharon Stone who's out to turn the women of America into face cream addicted monsters – from visionary director Pitof, it's Catwoman! I'm your host, Dave, and joining me as we scrape the absolute bottom of the superhero barrel is fellow cinephile and Bast fanboy, Ryan. Topics of discussion in this episode include a question as to whether free movie vouchers included in Batman DVDs count towards a film's total box office gross; we wonder if the screenwriters used the Superhero Name Generator to come up with Catwoman's alter ego: Patience Phillips; and finally, we wonder how bad the shelved Batgirl movie could have possibly been if this was considered releasable. We'll be back next time as we stay in the early 2000s era of superhero films with 2005's forgotten snoozefest, Elektra.
In a single year, Sharon Stone was nominated for awards for both Best Actress and Worst Actress – for the same role. She launched a million sexual awakenings with one quick display in Basic Instinct. Her performance in that film was so vivid that it inspired stalkers to track her down. It may have even served as the inspiration for one fan to commit murder, cannibalism, and necrophilia. This episode contains themes that may be disturbing to some listeners, including graphic depictions of violence. On Episode 135 of The Film '89 Podcast, Neil, Skye and Steve celebrate the 35th anniversary of yet another Arnold Schwarzenegger film, this time it's the 1990 action-science-fiction classic, Total Recall. Following on from the recent success of our Commando episode, the guys are once again giving their in-depth analysis of a film starring one of the Film '89 team's favourite movie stars, but this time, they're also discussing one of their favourite directors, Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven. They discuss the source short story by Philip K. Dick upon which Total Recall is based as well as the making of this big budget special effects spectacle - at the time, one of the most expensive films ever made. The guys also dissect the film's fiendishly complex plot and the many themes, layers and socio-political commentary that Verhoeven weaves into the film. Featuring a superb supporting cast including Sharon Stone, Rachel Ticotin, Michael Ironside and Ronny Cox, an incredible score by Jerry Goldsmith and incredible special effects that hold up 35 years on, Total Recall is a timeless classic and is given the usual Film '89 treatment.

This is a re-upload for Spotify of a conversation originally held in November of 2023. Hit Factory wishes to extend our deepest gratitude and reverence to the National Music Publishers' Association - tireless defenders of intellectual property, guardians of taste, and brave crusaders against independent podcasts that allegedly included a brief clip of copyrighted music within a previous version of this episode. Journalist and writer Séamus Malekafzali returns to the program for a lengthy conversation about Martin Scorsese's 1995 crime epic 'Casino'. Initially viewed by critics and audiences as a retread of Scorsese's masterful crime saga 'Goodfellas', the film has since been reevaluated as a masterpiece in its own right - one enriched by the director's late period films and preoccupations. We discuss the film's dizzying construction, effectively evoking the glitz and glam of the Vegas strip through extended montages and voiceover (an effect masterfully rendered by Scorsese's deft hands as a director, a firecracker script with co-writer Nicholas Pileggi, and the brilliant editing of longtime Scorsese collaborator Thelma Schoonmaker). Then, we examine the brilliant, career-defining performance of Sharon Stone as Ginger McKenna. It's a role that deserves every possible accolade, and strikes a note that no one but Stone could conceivably achieve. Finally, we discuss the film as capitalist allegory, and how Scorsese thoughtfully weaves commentary on the corporate centralization of the American economy and its steady collapsing of the middle class. We also offer some thoughts on Scorsese's latest, 'Killers of the Flower Moon', and the evolution of the director's views on capitalism, corruption, and consequence. Ever heard of Jurassic Park? Michael Crichton's greatest adaptation! Well get ready for another adaptation that's not Congo, Sphere. A movie about aliens and time travel and Sphere's and nightmares. Starring a young…ish Samuel L Jackson, Dustin Hoffman and Sharon Stone it sank like a bloody stone at the box office due to poor reception and general disinterest in its blend of sci-fi and horror. Send us a textDo you remember Above the Law from 1988? Well, if you're having trouble distinguishing this movie from the long list of other Seagal films, you are not alone. We remembered we liked it, much like we liked all his films from the 90s. They were a guarantee of an hour and a half of cheesy dialogue and over the top ass kicking. Well, this movie started it all. Not only did it star Steven Seagal, but he also produced and wrote it. We can't wait.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?
