MTD was at the beach.Jacob turned 91.And somehow that combination led to a discussion about Chris Hansen, suspicious party guests carrying cookies, and why Facebook Marketplace might be the most dangerous place on the internet. Before they even mentioned the movie, Brad unloaded weeks of Marketplace trauma. One guy negotiated the price......only to announce he was already on his way to buy someone else's bike.Another promised to show up Saturday morning, completely disappeared, read Brad's messages hours later, and never replied. Then there was the 3 a.m. message from a woman who wanted an e-bike delivered halfway across the state because her boyfriend would meet him there. At that point, Brad was convinced every Marketplace sale ends with either getting ghosted or getting kidnapped.Mark didn't exactly disagree. The two spent several minutes wondering why basic human communication seems to disappear the moment someone opens Facebook Marketplace. They even pitched an entire bonus episode devoted to reading ridiculous Marketplace messages because, frankly, they write themselves. Eventually they remembered they were supposed to review Obsession. The movie follows Bear, a painfully awkward guy who's too afraid to ask Nikki out, so instead he buys a magical "One Wish Willow" from the creepiest crystal shop imaginable.Rather than wishing for confidence......or money......or unlimited wishes......he wishes Nikki will love him more than anything else in the world. As expected, that turns out to be one of the worst decisions in horror movie history.Brad couldn't understand why Bear was so terrified to ask her out in the first place. Nikki practically hands him the opportunity on a silver platter, asking if he likes her while they're sitting alone in the car.Instead......he freezes. Then immediately cracks open the magical wish stick.Problem solved.Sort of. The guys loved the creepy crystal shop, especially the employee who looked less like a cashier and more like someone who escaped from another dimension.Brad's theory? The store isn't actually a store at all. It's basically hell with retail hours.Neither of them could figure out how a company selling cursed wishing sticks hasn't been sued into oblivion.Somehow the business just keeps operating. From there, the conversation wandered completely off the rails.William Baldwin was declared the greatest Baldwin because he got Sharon Stone and Cindy Crawford in consecutive movies.Russell Crowe was accused of eating Russell Crowe. They reminisced about AOL discs, Prodigy internet, Pizza Hut's Back to the Future Part II glasses, and enough forgotten '90s thrillers to fill several future episodes. At one point they honestly seemed to forget Obsession existed. Then someone remembered.Barely. When they finally returned to the movie, both hosts agreed it delivered exactly what horror fans have been missing: an original premise, genuine creepiness, and a villain who creates his own nightmare because he refuses to have one uncomfortable conversation. Not bad for a movie that cost less than most Hollywood catering budgets.

Boomtown violence, kinetic camera work, and an absurdly stacked cast—this week we're diving into The Quick and the Dead (1995). Is it a comic-book pulp masterpiece or a stylish mess? We discuss Sharon Stone handpicking Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe, Gene Hackman's terrifying charm, and how Sam Raimi injected his signature comic-book kineticism into the classic Western genre. Peter Medak's Romeo is Bleeding In the 1990s low-budget studio films on the periphery (in this case Polygram Filmed Entertainment) were being made with casts that - in some cases - would become mainstream stars throughtout the decade and the upcoming milennium. 1993s Peter Medak directed Romeo is Bleeding, is an under-watched, hidden gem with a cast that almost defines the 1990s - Gary Oldman, Annabella Sciorra, Roy Schreider, Juliette Lewis, Michael Wincott, and the brilliant, Lena Olin. A New York set Neo-Noir that explodes beyond the Hayes Code limits of the genre, Medak's film is a platform for a darkness of material that is rarely seen in mainstream Hollwyood. Building on a violent and highly sexualized narrative that reminds today's viewer and expands on the memories of late 80s/early 90s Cinemax Erotic Thrillers (as well as Sharon Stone and Basic Instinct), Romeo is Bleeding is a showcase for Oldman's burnt-out, self-destructive cop, Jack Grimaldi, and Lena Olin's daring, highly sexualized, and dangerous, femme fatale, Mona Demarkov. This week Mr. Chavez and I discuss the brilliance of these two performances and the film that underserves their talents. We dive into what the film gets right and how a better director (in our opinions, Paul Schrader) may have produced a masterpiece. Take a listen and let us know what you think. In our special Anna Nicole Smith series, we take our Undressed-inistas back to the moment our lives changed forever: the day Pol' first met Anna Nicole Smith and the friendship that inspired our book, Anna Nicole Smith: Portrait of an Icon. We reveal why we felt compelled to write our tribute after watching strangers and reporters publish books about a woman they never truly knew, while we were quietly grieving the loss of one of our closest friends. We share how Pol's career was already soaring—designing for political royalty including Hillary Clinton, California First Lady Sharon Davis, Sharon Stone, Saudi princesses, and even preparing for a meeting with Princess Diana—when an unexpected call from E! stylist Lisa Thayer changed everything. Anna Nicole needed a gown for the Academy Awards after repeatedly landing on worst-dressed lists, but Pol' hesitated. How would dressing the world's most talked-about blonde bombshell fit into a couture empire built on presidents, royalty, and Hollywood legends? Then comes the unforgettable first meeting. Pol' walks into Anna's iconic leopard-and-velvet-filled mansion carrying gowns, sketch pads, and absolutely no idea what to expect. Moments later, Anna descends the staircase in a fuzzy pink robe and slippers, clutching her beloved dog Sugar Pie, immediately asking, “Why are you making me get up this early?” What began as a fitting quickly transformed into something far more meaningful. We relive the electric chemistry between designer and muse as Anna grabbed Pol's hand, declared, “You're not like the others,” and entrusted him with creating the Academy Awards look that would reinvent her image forever. Beneath the tabloid headlines and Playboy persona was a brilliant, vulnerable woman desperate to be seen for who she truly was. The episode also dives into Patrik's first nerve-racking meeting with Anna. After hearing endlessly about “Anna,” he discovers that the mysterious best friend he has to impress is none other than Anna Nicole Smith herself. Anna instantly welcomes him into her inner circle—but not without issuing one unforgettable warning: “If you break Pol's heart, I'm going to fucking kill you.” We laugh about Pol' secretly evaluating Anna while Anna was clearly evaluating him, the surreal experience of entering her famous home, and the realization that the Oscars gown marked the beginning of a friendship that would last until her death. We also reflect on how Anna's loss, following the devastating death of her son Daniel and the relentless public scrutiny surrounding her life, forever altered our world. By the end of the episode, we realize that what started as a couture appointment became one of the most meaningful relationships of our lives. Anna wasn't just an icon, a Playmate, or a reality star—she was our friend. And decades later, she still lives in our hearts, in our memories, and even in Patrik's phone under the name “Hot Smoochie Lips.” This episode is a glamorous, emotional, and deeply personal chapter in our ongoing journey through friendship, fashion, fame, and the woman behind the legend: Anna Nicole Smith. Ep. 36 - The Long Good Friday & CasinoThis week, we are stepping into the halls of crumbling criminal empires with John Mackenzie's The Long Good Friday (1980) and Martin Scorsese's Casino (1995). These films feature protagonists who operate as kings in their own respects, letting their massive egos blind them to the immediate threats right in front of their faces. We look at how Harold Shand's dream of a legitimized London empire clashes with a political nightmare, and how Sam "Ace" Rothstein's obsession with total control in Vegas ultimately creates his own downfall. It is a double feature about the illusion of power, the volatility of the underworld, and the high cost of unchecked ambition. Whether it is the rainy streets of London or the blinding neon of the desert, both films show that a king is only as strong as the foundation he ignores. Plus, we dig into the incredible performances from Helen Mirren and Sharon Stone, who serve as the crucial anchors to these men of ambition.
Look, either you know what this is or you won't believe us. In 2017, Steven Soderbergh and writer Ed Solomon made a murder mystery show that was an app on your phone. You used your phone to decide which scenes to watch next to find out who killed Sharon Stone. This is real. Then they re-edited it as a miniseries for HBO, and now you can't watch the app version literally anywhere. The whole thing is nuts, and thank G-d we have our friend Comrade Yui to help us navigate through it (app joke). Join us for a typically wide-ranging conversation about interactivity, the artist as fascist (complimentary?), video game theory, and biodigital jazz, man. Hey more like Steven Flappybird! Because he deleted the app! Well, someone did. Rue sees a sign from God and Cassie deletes her money maker!NOTE: To our loyal listeners, we're sorry that this episode is a day late and that Jillian's audio is a little wonky. We had a few technical issues recording on the road this week, but we did our best. We'll be back home next week and everything will look and sound normal again. Thanks for still listening! In this episode of Previously On, Jillian and her husband Tyler are breaking down Euphoria Season 3 Episode 6, “Stand Still and See” on vacation in Hawaii. From Rue's increasingly complicated relationship with faith, redemption, and Alamo's dangerous world, to Cassie accidentally stumbling into stardom on the set of LA Nights, this episode feels like the calm before what could be an absolutely unhinged storm in the final episodes. We get into Alamo's questionable backstory, the show's growing religious symbolism (Exodus, the burning bush, and Rue's search for salvation), and whether Euphoria Season 3 is building toward something much bigger than we originally thought. Plus Rue and Jules continue to break our hearts, Nate somehow gets beaten up AGAIN, and Cassie makes a career move that could change everything. And because this episode had us questioning everyone's choices, we're counting down our Top 5 “Are You Sure This Is God's Plan?” Moments including Rue's wild future vision, Cassie thanking God for questionable life decisions, and characters making unholy choices. We also get Tyler's Tarantino of the Week, we spiral about fan theories, discuss whether anyone is actually dying this season, and attempt to predict where Euphoria is heading before the final two episodes.00:00:00 Reenactment Cassie's LA Nights "improv"00:02:19 Sex symbols Sharon Stone and Colleen Camp00:03:12 Honeymoon00:05:29 Intro to pod00:05:48 Jules and Rue scenes00:10:23 Recap S3 E6 "Stand Still and See"00:14:46 "Stand Still and See" Review & Alamo backstory00:23:26 Internet hating on Euphoria00:25:57 Tarantino of the week00:27:48 Nika King as Rue's mom Leslie00:30:10 Top 5 Are you SURE this is God's plan?00:31:13 Alamo's lesson from mom's con00:34:32 Rue wants kids with Jules00:39:39 Flowers ruined Nate's life00:41:56 Cassie gets role and deletes OF00:43:17 Meta character deaths convo00:47:19 Rue sees a sign from God00:50:28 Flood and sea00:53:14 Tyler's Takes00:53:37 Black Gunn (1972)00:54:58 Black cowboys00:56:15 Faye00:57:40 Fez00:58:57 Gold Rush Medical plastic surgery00:59:25 Cassie tells stories with body01:02:54 Dead rat01:03:53 Bishop Thank you to Matt Buechele (@mattbooshell) for creating our new theme song. Over the next four weeks we're taking a trip through some classic 1990's science fiction films. An interesting era which still encorporated old school film making techniques like model work, stop motion and rear projection plus early computer generated imagery. This week it's the action classic Total Recall starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone from director Paul Verhoeven not to be confused with the 2012 reboot or the book its based on that has a completely different name and premise. This week, Tom's away, so Christina P calls in Duncan Trussell for one of the most insane yet incredibly wholesome episodes of Your Momma's Place in a long time. Christina P comes out to Duncan as a spiritual weirdo and shares a story about an unexplained sighting she had with some otherworldly visitors. The two break down the recent release of UFO/UAP files by the US government, talk about the dumb things schools do to make it more fun, Sharon Stone's pussy, the benefits of period blood, Christina's spiritual awakening, Duncan's new podcast with Kurt Metzger, and more alien talk than an episode of "The X-Files". Basic Instinct is known as the quintessential 90s erotic thriller... but is it the best one? Join us as we delve into this salacious romp from Dutch filmmaker, Paul Verhoeven, that launched Sharon Stone as a household name ("You're mother was no Sharon Stone"), and saw Michael Douglas continue to play sleazy curmudgeons. Also, as always, we've picked out the most loathsome characters from the film, so join us at the end of the episode in voting for which one was the most deserving to die. Ever wonder what it's like to work on power lines? Russ and Jared can't possibly imagine that this is an accurate representation... but it's all we've got to work with. That's right, the guys are powering up to get through Life on the Line (2015), starring John Travolta, Kate Bosworth, Devon Sawa, Gil Bellows, Julie Benz, Ryan Robbins, Ty Olsson, and Sharon Stone. Stay tuned for an all-new Trailer Trash next week!
Brad opens with, “I watched a movie…” and this one immediately raises questions — mainly, why does an entire town think the best way to solve problems is to shoot each other at noon? In this episode of Movie Torture, Brad dives into The Quick and the Dead, where daily life revolves around a dueling tournament with one simple rule: win… or you're done. What should feel like a Western turns into something way more chaotic — a town where death is basically part of the schedule.Brad leans into the absurdity right away:People casually gather to watch shootouts like it's entertainmentNewcomers would immediately realize something is very wrongAnd somehow, this is treated like normal community lifeHe breaks down the cast dynamics with his usual energy:Sharon Stone rolling in with a clear mission and unfinished businessGene Hackman running the town like he enjoys every second of the chaosLeonardo DiCaprio bringing confidence that doesn't match the situationRussell Crowe just trying to exist in the middle of it allAs the episode builds, Brad highlights what makes the movie stand out:The over-the-top duels with dramatic standoffs and drawn-out tensionCharacters treating life-or-death moments like performancesAnd the constant feeling that nobody is making normal decisionsOf course, Brad goes off on tangents about:Why this might be the worst town to ever move intoHow every disagreement somehow turns into a shootoutAnd why adding flair to a duel is the last thing anyone should be doingAt its core, the episode keeps circling one idea:What happens when a place normalizes chaos… and nobody questions it?As the story unfolds, motives become clearer, revenge comes into focus, and every duel carries more weight than the last. But through it all, Brad keeps calling out the same thing — this world makes no sense, and that's exactly what makes it so watchable.Tune in for the full breakdown, the tangents, and Brad reacting in real time to a movie that fully commits to its own ridiculous rules.
Can we get a very special "hell yeah" for a very special 400th episode?!?! Wow has time flown, Russ and Jared can hardly believe it's already been 400 episodes. The guys are getting into Life on the Line (2015), starring John Travolta, Kate Bosworth, Devon Sawa, Gil Bellows, Julie Benz, Ryan Robbins, Ty Olsson, and Sharon Stone for some reason.
