And the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has blocked the federal government from continuing to collect President Trump's 10% global tariffs — with the underlying authority set to expire in July unless Congress acts. We think those tariffs are doomed and that Congress should fix it. His campaign literature says physician. His website says physician. Michigan and New York have no record of ever granting him a medical license. We ask the simple question — if you've been practicing medicine your entire career without a license, what do you call that? In our Digging Deep segment, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced a first-in-the-nation program called Golden State Start — 400 free diapers for every newborn in California, administered through an NGO called Baby to Baby. The state has budgeted $20 million for the program. Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton went to Target and discovered you can buy diapers for 16 cents each. The state is paying 50 cents each — more than three times the retail price. We follow the money and find that Baby to Baby is co-led by a woman who sits on the board of Gavin Newsom's wife's nonprofit, that its board includes Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba, and other Hollywood mega-donors, and that the organization funnels money back to Democrat candidates. Newsom's free diapers aren't about babies. They're about political payback with your tax dollars. We also cover the mayor of Arcadia, California — Democrat Eileen Wang — who has resigned and agreed to plead guilty after being charged with acting as a foreign agent for communist China. A sitting American mayor, taking directives from the People's Republic of China and posting propaganda designed to influence American public opinion. We connect it to the broader pattern of Chinese infiltration into American politics and ask why it keeps happening in the same party. We also cover Representative Darrell Issa's resolution to expunge both of Donald Trump's impeachments from the historical record — laying out the evidence that the 2019 impeachment was built on fabricated testimony from a biased whistleblower with no firsthand knowledge, and that the 2021 impeachment violated the Constitution in multiple procedural ways including the Chief Justice refusing to preside. Both should be expunged. We note that most of the seven Republican senators who voted to convict are already out of Congress — and we mention one who is not. And we close with President Trump calling out a reporter on the White House lawn who accused his ballroom of doubling in cost without apparently knowing he had doubled the size. Personally, we have not stopped singing this song on a loop since it came out (of a closet made of air). Gabriela is basically an even queerer, more Gen-Z version of Dolly Parton's Jolene. With two out of six members of the group being openly queer, it was only a matter of time before they released the gayest song we've ever heard. We're honestly not sure what they could've been going for with Gabriela if not a bisexual anthem.  We can't talk about Gabriela without addressing the sapphic fever dream that is the music video. Katseye may spend the chorus singing “back off of my fella, Gabriela”, but there is not one fella to be seen anywhere on the screen. In fact, they go to extremes to use absolutely anything but a fella, casting a mannequin and a self-driving taxi as placeholders for men. The decision to cast Jessica Alba and zero men feels deliberately gay, especially when paired with the least subtle lesbian imagery we've ever seen. These girls are literally spitting up flower petals and stroking cats while singing about how much they want to climb Gabriela like a tree.  The lyrics for Gabriela are equally as gay as the music video, even leaving in the “fella” rhyme. As we did with our Jolene episode, we pick the lyrics apart line by line looking for the gay subtext. In this case, we're not sure it counts as subtext. It's just the text at this point. The line, “Skin amaretto / I bet you taste just like the summer / Under the covers” transitioning into a fantasy about a threesome with Gabriela pretty much speaks for itself. This girl is so down bad for Gabriela that she literally passes away with her “heart in the casket” when she sees her. There is perhaps no experience more relatable to lesbians than seeing a woman that is so hot that you just die on the spot.  We know one thing for sure, Gabriela Should've Been Gay. The plot follows Josie, a journalist going undercover at a high school for a story, as she experiences being retraumatized by the popular girls, falling in love with her teacher, and competing for prom queen.  As much as we genuinely adore this movie, it is impossible not to talk about the ocean of reasons why Never Been Kissed is not the wholesome, family-friendly movie it was marketed as and is instead highly problematic. We get that Josie is 25 and only pretending to be a high schooler for the sake of her journalism career; but her teacher does not know that and has no reason to think she isn't a 17 year old student. Yet, they are the main romance that the audience is very much supposed to be rooting for. Thankfully, we have our gay glasses on and with a few little changes to the script we can see our path to a much less problematic, and much, much queerer movie. After all, there's something pretty queer already about a 25 year old woman who has never had a romantic kiss or felt sparks from any guy.
