Ah, Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal. A film so magnificently, obliviously ridiculous that it could only exist in the pre-9/11 era, where the greatest threat to air travel wasn't terrorism, but satanic heavy metal concerts broadcast live from a 747. Yes, that's the plot. And no, it does not get any smarter from there. Let's start with the hero we never asked for: Slade Craven (yes, that's his real name), a Marilyn Manson knockoff who looks like Hot Topic threw up on a scarecrow. This man struts onto the plane in full goth-rock regalia, sneering at everyone like he just walked out of a badly lit music video, but give him 30 minutes and he transforms from a moody poser into an airborne action hero, karate-kicking terrorists and saving the day with all the grace of a drunk dad at a Slipknot concert. Watching him go from “edgy Rockstar” to “Die Hard protagonist” is like watching Ozzy Osbourne suddenly pilot a space shuttle. It makes no sense, and that's why it's beautiful. The cast, if you can call them that, behaves less like humans and more like malfunctioning AI programmed by someone who thinks they understand human emotions. Dialogue is delivered with all the enthusiasm of a hostage video, and nobody reacts to anything with the appropriate level of concern. At one point, a terrorist hijacks the plane, and the reaction from the crew is roughly equivalent to someone realizing they forgot to pay their internet bill. And then there's Joe Mantegna, who spends every scene looking like he wandered onto the wrong set and refused to leave. His job is to play an FBI agent trying to make sense of the madness, but he mostly just stares into the abyss, radiating the same exhausted energy as a substitute teacher dealing with a class that just discovered energy drinks. You can feel him asking himself, Why am I here? The answer: we don't know, Joe. We really don't. The villains? Well, they think they're terrorists, but their actual motivation is so incoherent that by the time their master plan is revealed (summoning Satan via airplane concert???), you'll have given up on logic entirely. There's hacking, plane fights, a shockingly high number of fake Slade Cravens, and an ending so abrupt it feels like the film itself decided it had suffered enough. Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal is cinematic junk food at its absolute worst—and most entertaining. It's a movie that doesn't just jump the shark; it hijacks the shark midair, flies it into a storm, and then fights Satan on top of it. If you love bad movies, this one deserves a place on your shelf, right next to a can of expired Monster Energy and a broken Playstation 2 controller.

Full Hour | Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by first offering thoughts on the continued back and forth over a potential debate, telling that Bill O'Reilly will be joining today at 12:30 to offer his analysis on Trump's decision to accept. Then, Dom tells about a condemnation by the NFL of Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker over faith-based comments he made in a commencement speaker, expressing his frustration at the double standard after years of political comments made by progressive-leaning players. Also, Mantegna discusses his deep ties to the military, telling a story of the time he tried joining the Marines as a pilot during Vietnam. After that, Dom welcomes famed political commentator Bill O'Reilly back onto the Dom Giordano Program to hear his analysis of Trump's decision to accept a challenge of two debates by President Joe Biden ahead of the upcoming 2024 election. O'Reilly explains that, while he's looking forward to the debates, he thinks Trump should've pushed for more negotiation, particularly over the moderators and networks in which the debate will appear. O'Reilly sets his sights on CNN's Jake Tapper, one of the expected moderators, reading back a direct quote from the CNN host that compares Trump to Adolph Hitler, pointing to the extreme bias that he would bring as moderator to a debate. Then, O'Reilly tells what conditions he thinks Trump should've asked for, and reflects upon times that he hosted debates in his past. (Photo by Jason Hanna/Getty Images)

ARE YOU READY TO RAAAAAAWWWK?! We sure hope so, CineMeheads, because this week we're coming to you LOUD from the late days of the 1990s Los Angeles hair metal scene with this Brendan Fraiser entry: Airheads. This week on The CineMEH Podcast, Josh and Ryan take a meta look at the state of the music industry, with our film as a backdrop for social commentary. We'll discuss whether this movie was at one time meant to be a more serious offering, how the landscape of art and entertainment changes as it becomes increasingly intersected with corporate interests, and how much of an impact the 'death' of radio has had on music. Ever wonder what Ryan did in his 20s before he became a respectable type? Turns out he and Chazz have a lot in common! Airheads leans heavy on the absurdity, but its underlying message about corporatised music and the purity of the artist will be of interest to anyone who's ever wanted to just stick it to the man and do things their own way. Airheads stars Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscemi, Adam Sandler, Joe Mantegna, and Chris Farley. The CineMEH Podcast is a Slyjack Media, LLC production Like what you hear? On this episode we are doing a supporter request from our ongoing patreon campign. Talking points that the hosts bring up on this episode include the series being cringey in a good way, the uneven arc of Aaron Eckhart's career, and doing away with unnecessary social customs like the one where people say “can I ask you a question?” before asking the question itself. Created by Jason Katims, As We See It stars Rick Glassman, Albert Rutecki, Sue Ann Pien, Sosie Bacon, Chris Pang, Joe Mantegna, Délé Ogundiran, Vella Lovell, Tal Anderson, Alyssa Jirrels, Adan James Carrillo, Casey Mills, David Futernick, and Andrew Duff. Joe Mantegna grew up around multiple family members who were combat veterans of World War II. He tried to become a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War but was dismissed due to poor eyesight. But for more than 20 years, Mantegna has been a very active supporter of our active duty military, veterans, and families of the fallen. Since 2002, he has been a part of the National Memorial Day Concert, serving almost all of those years as a host or co-host alongside fellow veterans advocate Gary Sinise. In this edition of "Veterans Chronicles," Mantegna shares his story from growing up in Chicago to becoming a successful actor on stage and screen. He also explains how his understanding of Memorial Day changed drastically once he was asked to be a part of the concert. Mantegna also tells us how the powerful stories that get presented each year are chosen and what it is like to share such emotional moments in front of the families who lived it and often lost their loved ones.
Actor and writer Ronnie Marmo (above) talks about his one-man show I'm Not a Comedian…I'm Lenny Bruce (directed by Joe Mantegna), which he's toured all over the country for over 400 performances. A longtime actor (Criminal Minds, General Hospital), Ronnie reveals how he first fell in love with the so-called "foul-mouthed" comic who never actually cursed all that much; how he was first arrested in Chicago; how Lenny threatened the status quo and “obscenity” was just an excuse to arrest him; what it's like when the audience is your scene partner; his showbiz origin story; and ultimately, the importance of always being in a play, whether they're paying you or not.
