Hey my name is Will, and I’m PK (preachers kid), youth pastor, and public speaker. There’s something I feel is missing in the church and that is conversation. There are many varying opinions but there aren’t many conversations happening. This podcast is all about conversing and gaining understanding…
We have all heard the phrase "failure is not an option". This is used to motivate others. However, is failure an option or is it a part of the success process. Join me as I answer this question. Let's get into it!
Hey family thank you for listening. Tap in and listen to why I have decided to step away from ministry. That's right....I am no longer preaching and I am perfectly ok.
This is a very brief episode came from introspective moment I was having thinking about how experiences in ministry will sometimes cause us to change our “why”.
There's so much foolishness I've been seeing and hearing within the context of church and ministry. I was sitting here and began recording to get some of this frustration off my chest. Put on your AirPods and listen.
This a rough draft and I would appreciate your critique and feedback
By now we’ve all heard about “Karen”. We’ve watched Karen’s in action calling 911 on kids playing football in the street or making ridiculous complaints in stores while demanding to talk with the manager or even use their Karen-ness to call the police on black people who they feel don’t belong in spaces where they work or live. This episode will bring some much needed light to the dark behavior of “Karen”. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Pastor Rod Parsley of World Harvest Church in Columbus,Ohio has struck a nerve with many African Americans with his tone deaf message on race. He has dubbed himself as the “silent no more preacher” Parsley has grown his following among black folks by appropriating our culture and hiring our singers and musicians. In today’s climate evangelical pastors like Parsley are being called on the carpet for their behavior and messages. Sir we need an explanation. Your message on race is very short sighted and tone deaf. It also lacks the correct historical context. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
George Floyd was murdered by 4 Minneapolis Police Officers over an alleged bad check. The officers lynched a black man who posed no threat. How much longer must we endure this? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Lately there’s been talk about Lil Boosie paying for an adult female to perform sex acts on his underage son. In this episode I attempt to unpack some issues and bring to light that this is not a phenomenon. This has been going on for decades and even centuries. It’s time to discuss things in proper context. “All Lives Matter” sure that sounds great and ideal. However, we all know that is not true. If this in fact was a true statement black people and people of color wouldn’t have to fight for freedom and equality in America. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Anti-Shelter In Place Protesters (majority white men) are expressing their faux outrage in the midst of a pandemic. They feel their liberty and freedom is being infringed upon. While African Americans and other POC (people of color) shake their heads in disbelief watching white men and women compare shelter in place orders to slavery. This resonates with African Americans in this country because for centuries we have been and still are oppressed. “When America catches a cold the African American Community gets the Flu” The racial numbers for communities affected by COVID-19 are coming in. Yep, and as you guessed it. The African American Community is being disproportionately affected by this virus
There’s a lot of stress and anxiety surrounding Covid. In this episode I’ll go over a few techniques to help ease the stress and anxiety we all are feeling during this time.
Often times the reason we are afraid to go after our goals is because we keep a Plan B in our back pocket. I'm not talking about birth control but the fearful mindset that things will not work out. In this episode, my guest and I will discuss how there are times when our Plan B may be the thing that keeps up stuck and frustrated. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

There is this notion that needs to be challenged that men and our behavior is above reproach. We can do what we want in the name of being masculine. However, the truth is we can not do what we want, and it is absurd to think we can use the bible perpetuate an agenda. I'm here to challenge this idea and talk about toxic masculinity in the black church. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Ok, allow me to be honest for a moment. I did not know who Nipsey Hussle was. I saw him a few times in the news, but that was the extent of it. My children know who he is. However, when I heard his story I became intrigued. This young man went from the block to making boss moves and being an activist and voice for this generation. To hear about his tragic and senseless murder was upsetting to me. This episode is a tribute to him and to heroic legacy. RIP Nipsey Hussle --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Preachers Kids/Pastors Kids get a bad rep. Mainly because our lives are examined closely by onlookers. We are not bad. Misunderstood mainly, but not bad. There is a dark side of being a preachers kid we will explore at a later date. However, this episode will highlight the good things we learned as a PK. Addiction is a horrible monster to wrestle with. Le'Andria Johnson has been wrestling with hers for years. She is now in a place to receive the help she needs. My question is what has the black church done to help her? The same people who book her for conferences, concerts, and other events are some of the same people who have turned their back on her. How can call ourselves the church but turn away from those who need our help? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
In the black church there is a teaching that says silencing a person who has messed up is a way of stamping out sin. They use the scripture from Galatians 5:9 that says "A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough." This scripture has been taken completely out of context. Because they liken yeast to sin and the whole batch of dough as the church (or local assembly) The majority of the time those who have been silenced are teenage females who have become pregnant. Imagine the hurt, shame, and embarrassment they have to endure. This form of discipline has caused more resentment towards God and the church than we actually know. There are countless stories of those who were silenced and were forced into making public apologies. I want to begin a dialogue on this issue and help people heal. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
