The fact is that when one acts on their lustful desires there is a door that opens that many times leads to bondage and even death. This is clearly true for people who do not follow Jesus. However, even among those who profess Jesus as Lord, there is still a pathway that can lead to sin, which when matured can even cause spiritual shipwreck as the Apostle Paul mentions. Hebrews 12:29 declares that "God is a consuning fire." This depiction of the Lord is intense and glorious. His nature is all-consuming and when He manifests His glory by way of holy fire, everything in His path is consumed.
